>> if china invaded taiwan it would certainly be on the table and something that would be discussed by congress. >> that morning to chide up fresh off the heels of a highly anticipated meeting between tsai ing- wen and kevin mccarthy on u.s. soil. >> our bond is stronger now between any time or point in my lifetime. >> china's people's liberation army launching three days of military drills and response, conducting exercises with fire jets and warships, taiwan is china's redline. the maker of advanced chips around the world, china hosting fresh president emanuel who so far failed to convince president g to change his stance on the war in ukraine. as russia formally charges wall street journal reporter schumer mitch mcconnell putting politics aside to jointly condemn his arrest and demand his release. >> and back to that reported standoff happening right now in the taiwan strait, spokesperson for the american institute in taiwan tells fox news they are monitoring of beijing's actions closely. and that there is no reason for beijing to overreact, shannon. reporting from taipei safe travels i should thank you very much fred let's turn to alexandria hoff life at the white house on the review of the afghanistan withdrawal on a mixed reaction, alex for quickset is right shannon. this summary indeed is the white house reflecting on its own decisions but this is not an independent review. state department and department of defense to provide separate reviews to congress on thursday. those will not be released publicly. but since 12 pages goodbye to ministration release its first assessment of the u.s. withdrawal of afghanistan. placing the majority of the blame on former president trump's prior exit plan quote president biden's choices for how to execute a withdrawal from afghanistan or severely constrained by conditions created by his predecessor. the report also admitted that intelligence surrounding the situation was inaccurate. >> a president repeatedly requested assessments of the trajectory of his conflict from the military in his intelligence professionals. no agencies predicted a towel meant to cover nine days per. >> the end of america's 20 a presence in the country wants those who left behind in desperation. a bombing attack in kabul's airbase killed 13 u.s. service members, all as the taliban took swift control but the white house jon kirby disagrees with calling it chaotic. >> i just don't buy the whole argument of chaos for it is tough in the first year she would expected to be there is nobody at the airport. shannon: inuit republican house majority see it very differently pray they are investigating, on their own to call the withdrawal and humanitarian disaster. president biden departed the white house from the same time this report was released to spend easter weekend at camp david. >> alexandria hoff from the white house, thanks alex for joining me now salkind senator lindsey graham. welcome back to "fox news sunday". >> thank you. >> we are going to get to afghanistan work on sarah china. what reuters is calling a standoff in the taiwan strait served in the air force for and we noted weeks ago a four-star general thought we would be an actual combat with china in 2025. chairman has said the same thing on the show. what he think we are this morning, when you think this will go? >> number one we are celebrating easter. if you are looking for some good news it is easter sunday. what i think it. i think they are setting the stage possibly for a blockade of taiwan. the chinese communist party is going to test us dramatically this year end next year before the election. so in 1961 the russians tried to isolate western berlin. i am fearful the chinese may be sitting conditions to blockade taiwan in the coming months or weeks. we need to respond forcefully. if they do that we need to blockade all coming from the middle east to china. and let them know if you blockade taiwan we are going to cut off your oil. we need to train it more aggressively taiwanese forces so they can fight like the ukrainians. we need to put nuclear tipped missiles back in our submarines. biden won't do it, the militaries asked for a nuclear chip cruise missiles to put back in submarines like the russians did. we need more forces in the region. i think if you do those things you can deter a blockade. shannon: it sounds like a ratcheting up of the situation if taiwan is not fully equipped, trained, armed, ready for this we do not want to be leading to world war iii. >> nobody wants world war iii. but what kind of world you want to live in? you want to live in a world where an island called taiwan to be taken by china and 90% the chips are made in taiwan they would have a economy. you just want to let putin take whatever he wants in europe? i do not want to live in that kind of world. there is a reason for this. i would be willing to fight for taiwan because taiwan is a democracy we stood with them for decades. so taiwan is not the problem, lindsey graham to solve the problem is putin and it is present she. so what to do to deter a blockade i let the chinese know if you blockade taiwan you are going to have a hard time getting oil from the middle ea east. i would increase training of the f-16s they need in taiwan. there is a backlog i would solve that backlog. i would move more forces to south korea and japan. i will put nuclear tipped cruise missiles and all of our submarines oh over the world like the russians did like they got out of the nuclear treaty and started using cruise missiles nuclear to that's what reagan did in the cold war i would up our game if you do not up your game and now you are going to have a war. shannon: very quickly went to get a lot of other topics chairman call discussed with aishah hasnie the discussion the possibility of authorizing force in sending u.s. troops to taiw taiwan. would you support that scenario? >> strategic ambiguity is not working. china after afghanistan believes the store is open for you can go in and take whatever you want on biden's watch. so the question for the congress should we have a defense agreement with the island of taiwan? should we have one? i will be very much open to using u.s. forces to defend taiwan because it is in our national security interest to do so. shannon: try to also an actor with fentanyl, mexico, the board that you've been very vocal on that. mexico's president has sent a g china please help without the fentanyl praise they have said basically there's no such thing as illegal trafficking. you have talked about getting tough about using u.s. military on the border with the cartels. mexico's president this is how ap reports his response to you. lopez said mexico would not accept such threats calling them an insult to mexico and a lack of respect for independence and sovereignty. lopez started to start a campaign in the u.s. asking mexicans and hispanics to live there do not vote for republicans. so what are you proposing keeping in mind they are sovereign country? >> here's what i am proposing. no sovereign country has the right to kill 70000 americans without some kind of repercussion. 70000 americans died last year from fentanyl poisoning. this year alone 13000 pounds a fentanyl has been seized that the u.s./mexican border. that's enough to kill billions of people to have billion people. my point is i want to work with mexico. the president of mexico denies the drug cartels aren't part of his country. he is delusional about what's going on in his backyard. writing a letter to the chinese president means nothing. so what i want to do i want to designate drug cartels in mexico as foreign terrorist organizations who are sending an fentanyl to poison americans by the tens of thousands. and put military force on the table to eradicate those drug cartels, if mexico does not work with us. i want to work with the president of mexico. but he is in denial about the problem and i am not going to sit on the sideline and watch mexico be used as a staging area to ship fentanyl into the united states that kills 70000 americans last year. what mexico is doing is insufficient and china needs to be put on notice two. designation of drug cartels of mexico will allow us to prosecute the chemical manufacturers in china that supply the product to mexico. >> but to be clear u.s. military assets this side of the border, correct not in mexico. >> right. >> okay. that is clear pretty want to ask about afghanistan for use served in uniform you know the situation there. we got the report this week, you saw alex's reporting she said this portion present biden's choices try to execute a withdrawal from afghanistan were severely constrained by conditions created by its predecessor for they say president trump had drawn down too many troops a special immigrant visa program to get people out of there have been starved of resources. that the taliban have emboldened by us engaged in peace talks about including our allies of the afghan government. they talk about the doha agreement, the release of 5000 taliban fighters from prison. is it fair to say any of those things handcuffed the bite administration's ability to make a smooth withdrawal? >> some of things president trump did i disagreed with. but he didn't withdrawal. in here it's a political whitewash by the bite administration to shift blame. the report says our mission had been accomplished, that's why biden got out of afghanistan he is claiming we eradicated all terrorist threats in afghanistan, that is why he withdrew to end the longest war. dental corelle he said week, who's the head of centcom that the rise of isis-k and al qaeda in afghanistan is so severe we could be attacked in america and the next six months without warning. so when the biden administration tells you there are no terrorists in afghanistan they are lying. there is a lethal cocktail forming, a rise of terrorism, afghanistan a broken border here in the united states. it is only a matter of time until there's another 911 if we do not change policies. my view of what happened in afghanistan by biting was he paved the way for another 911. shannon: were going to talk a lot more about afghanistan later on the show before going to talked about the issue of abortion. we've got to federal judges that are dueling rulings on the pill that's been used in abortions approved by the fda more than 20 years ago. it is an issue that's been a struggle for republicans posted jobs a ruling that overturned roe v wade very passionate about this but critics including conservatives say it is costing the republican party kim walston writing an opinion piece conservatives need to decide that gop majorities that will annex commonsense protections or democratic takeovers that will open the abortion slide gates. that is the choice, how much clearer can voters make it. isn't that what happened this week in wisconsin where the pro-choice candidate won by 10 points getting a seat on the wisconsin supreme court? well, i'm very pro-life it's a winning message i oppose late-term abortion grab a billet national minimum standard of 15 weeks, 50 of the 53 european nations ban abortion at 15 weeks. i have an exception for rape, incest the life of the mother. it wisconsin you had 1840 statute that banned abortion pretty much across the board. their publican party did not put an alternative on the table. if you are pro-life you need to explain what that means. here is what it means to me. i want to protect as many babies as possible. i want exceptions for pregnancies as a result of rape, incest at the life of the mother is in jeopardy, then the family can decide. i do believe in commonsense restrictions on abortion, that is where america zappe the democratic solution when it comes to abortion is taxpayer-funded abortion up to the moment of birth. that is barbaric, that is like china, that is like north korea. we can win this issue at the ballot box if we show our reasonable position if we have our head in the sand we are going to lose. physics art center graham will talk without the panel as well thank you for your time and happy easter to you. >> thank you. shannon: at the national direction for maryland senator ben cardin and ask him about the rising tensions this morning in the middle east. shannon: chairman of the house select committee on tighter publican at mike gallagher warned that this week in the u.s. must take seriously the threat posed to taiwan by china. it's encouraging congress to speed up military aid to the enjoyment out maryland democratic senator ben cardin pretty sits on the senate foreign relations committee among others. undercard of welcome back to "fox news sunday". but she understood to be with you. shannon: asserted china. there is conversation about not making mistakes of ukraine of pre-equipping people before an invasion that we need to do better with getting military equipment to taiwan. here's what how support affairs told our aishah hasnie just weeks ago. >> you think we are prepared for this to happen in the next five years? >> i sign off on all florida military weapons sales we have a problem with our defense industrial base. these weapons i've sign off on to taiwan, 22 weapons sales i signed off three years ago. they have yet to go into count country. shannon: center, three years ago and now it looks like another round of provocation from china this morning. or can lawmakers do if anything to speed up these deliveries? as i think we need to do that. we've got to give taiwan the ability to defend themselves. though i hope that we will find a way to get to taiwan exactly what they need. look, we believe in one china policy but we also believe mainland china cannot try to take taiwan over by force. we have a lot of tools in our toolkit to used to make that a reality. but bottom line is we have to make sure taiwan has one needs to defend itself. i agree we have to train, we have to make equipment availab available. the experiences from ukraine show us of the given capacity, they have the will they read judge, reconsider their strategy and trying to take over the island by force. shannon: arabs are there technical difficulties there hopefully you can hear me okay. next question is a follow-up on that. there are concerns about our ability to supply come to taiwan based on the fact we've had to send so much ukraine. the report to congress late last year that came to you said this break the diversion of existing stocks of weapons and munitions to ukraine has exacerbated a sizable backlog in the delivery of weapons already prefer cell to taiwan undermining the islands readiness. so, there also warnings other key military and the u.s. can take years to backfill. how do we manage these competing obligations knowing china probably senses that deficit there? there could be other conflicts arise around the world. the first thing we need to do, is to budget for next fiscal year to a bipartisan budget that stronger national defense, that replenishes our supply chain so that we have the military equipment we need to take care of our own internal security issues as well as help the ukrainians and the taiwanese filter security commitments. that means let's put aside the politics of the debt ceiling but let's increase it to where it needs to be able to get together and negotiate a budget that strong on national defense but we do have commitments around the world for national security. the best thing we can do is get a budget approved in an orderly process and not threaten the full faith and credit of the united states. >> and to that point as you sit on the finance committee mentioning debt ceiling. are you concerned there are zero negotiate is going on? center joe manchin migrant democratic colleagues was here last week he called out the president and said he's gotta step up to the plate and get everybody to the table this negotiating tactic is going to take us to the cliff again. as i do think we need to negotiate for there is no question but negotiate the budget for the next fiscal year that starts october 1. we shouldn't negotiate if are going to pay our bills regarding committed and spence, that's what the debt ceiling is about. click increase it in the past so that this debate and drama. let's get the debt ceiling extended. and then sit down before octobet which will not be the president's budget for it won't be the republicans budget. won't be the senate budget. it will be a budget that is negotiate between the house and senate, congress and the administration for that's what we need to do, that is how congress works best. but don't do it on the debt ceiling the debt ceiling is a full faith and credit of the united states. that should be beyond any question. shannon: and measures for house republicans especially for the deal that a snake to kevin mccarthy to the speakership. it's going to be a complex situation. i want to make sure touch on the afghanistan issue with you as well as we did was centigram. here's what an sc spokesperson jon kirby said when this is rolled out for it sounded like a lot of this was laying claim with the previous administration. here is characterization of how played out. >> and so for all this talk of chaos, i just did not see it not for my perch. he thanks he did not see chaos but here's what american stock, the people hanging onto plane taking off. people swarming the airport. people handing over children and babies to our marines there. a bombing that killed 13 service members left many more severe injuries. there are thousands of people still not country we had promised to get out. i know of a personally the case in at least one american still trying to get out. how do you characterize this withdrawal? >> shannon i also work to get americans out during that period of time. it was a real challenge for but make no mistake about it the bite administration had very bad options. the decision to withdraw from afghanistan was made by the trump administration. the reduction of troops are 2500 is where president biden started his term in office. the president had low options left. admittedly the intelligence information about the strength of the afghan government to stand up and is a taliban was not accurate. the telamon took over much quicker than anyone had anticipated. butts, president biden have basically what are two choices was he going to get out of afghanistan or put more troops into afghanistan with no end in sight? there were not met options for think he, based on the intelligence he had made what he thought was a best judgment, that at present real challenges for americans and others getting out of afghanistan? you bet it did. shannon: how about the issue of advancing the airbase, our allies were so furious, you can call that emergency session i'm blasted us in parliament, allies who said they were not coordinated with were not informed about what was going to happen. i think most americans agree it was time to go. but the way in which it happened leaves a lot to be desired especially for these families who lost people and still deserve answers about what happens. proxy have a limited number of troops there, 2500 is what we are down to and we were withdrawing from there. you had circumstances that were not anticipated by the intelligence reports that were given. it does not give you a lot of good options pretty hope we can learn from this experience. i hope we can figure out that it circumstances in the future present itself so we can protect u.s. interests, better than we did in afghanistan withdrawal. but, quite frankly i think the major mistake was made in negotiating direct with the taliban not involving the afghan government. unilaterally withdrawing our troops to a level that did not give ourselves the ability to protect u.s. interests moving forward. shannon: i want to ask about the middle east intentions of this week. it has been a lot of back-and-forth, rocket attacks a couple suspected terror attacks for the guardian writes this that now has black and israel had pulled back from the brink they say. as to mortal foes continue stocking to the cross about a fields of the middle east find shadow wars in lebanon, sierra and iraq and as far away as yemen, the rest of even seemingly provocation spiraling out of control is perhaps greater than ever. how wordy about you about the current tensions in that region? >> i am very worried. during the holiday season it is always a high tension moment in the middle east and israel. we recognize israel still has mortal enemies that are there. the circumstances with iran's activities in the surrounding countries, the attacks coming from both sierra and lebanon into israel, these are all major concerns. israel is defending itself. united states stands with israel and its ability to defend its sovereignty. we know their controversial issues within israel. we urge them to resolve those issues. but make no mistake about it, the united states is friendly with israel and its right to defend itself. we will do everything we can help in that regard. shannon: enter card and thank you for being a trooper through technical issues this morning we appreciate your time and wish you a blessed passover. thank you, senator. flexible thank you and happy easter to you to always good to get your show, shannon thank you. shannon: of the time performer president trump's criminal case in new york run right epping is a 2024 gop primary calendar?
