little confidence in our government implying, why should they? the biden team's retort that beijing violated protocols. the trump administration maximum pressure campaign widely reviled by the left. supporters of it say the point was to enforce respect in order to gain results. there will long be a debate about how well it worked but what we are witnessing tonight was not seen during the trump administration with if anything was accused by domestic political enemies of closing up too much to tyrants from beijing and moscow. the biden administration's posture towards iran and hardening towards allies like saudi arabia, we are seeing intense battles in yemen. all of this on a day when president biden apparently committed another gaffe promoting his vice president, calling her president harris. overseas amateurs watching the commander in chief closely. welcome to "fox news @ night." i am shannon bream in washington. we begin with jonathan hunt. the china summit unfolding. >> good evening. as they say, that went down hill fast. this was always going to be difficult dating even the many issues between the u.s. and china neither seemed in the mood to pull punches. the diplomats from china and the u.s. sitting opposite each other and looking directly at each other, as secretary of state antony blinken began by listing a series of problems the u.s. wants to address. >> are deep concerns with actions by china including hong kong, taiwan, cyber attacks on the united states, economic coercion toward our allies. each of these actions threaten the rule in order that maintains global stability. >> secretary blinken made clear what the biden administration approach will be. >> the united states relationship with china will be competitive word should be, collaborative work can be, adversarial where it must be. >> china's top diplomats of the u.s. should not be lecturing them on human rights regarding chinese crackdown on protests in hong kong when america is in the midst of its own debate and sometimes violent clashes over racial injustice. the chinese worn the u.s. not to judge or try to influence what china considers its own internal affairs. >> china is firmly opposed to u.s. interference in china's internal affairs. we've expressed our staunch opposition to such interference and we will firm actions in response. >> that's when i got really interesting. after the chinese delegation's opening statement, the media was due to leave the room but secretary blinken asked them to stay so he could issue a remodel to the chinese statement. he delivered that message essentially that the u.s. isn't perfect but it is trying. then the u.s. media left but the chinese delegation wanted a rebuttal to the rebuttal and asked why the u.s. feared, as they put it, having the press in the room. secretary blinken are sure the cameras back in to hear from china which was basically the u.s. needs to stop being so condescending. who would've thought that the best drama on tv tonight would be diplomats in anchorage, alaska. >> shannon: quite prickly. jonathan, thank you very much for the recap. intense pushback on dr. anthony fauci's shifting guidance for stopping the spread of covid-19 coming amid progress on vaccinations. will it continue if americans feel like getting the shots won't actually give them their freedom back? white house correspondent kevin corke taking a look at the conflicting aims. good evening. >> a bit of a previctory lap at the white house today is mr. bond told the nation that he is administration's goal of administering a hundred million, vaccine shots by the 100 day mark, that will be reached by about 60 days. the administration's lack of consistency and messaging about what it means to be vaccinated is prepping new questions and even fueling a bit of frustration. >> we are going to beat this. we are way ahead of schedule. we've got a long way to go. >> biden stated that vaccinations were full of claims of progress tempered by calls for caution. while the u.s. is said to be averaging between 2 million to 3 million shots per day, health experts say the 100 day goal of 100 million doses was always an attainable benchmark. >> doesn't mean large events with lots of people but it does mean small groups will be able to get together. >> previously mr. biden seem to suggest that even if you are vaccinating your holiday gathering should still be small for the foreseeable future. if his remarks have you confused about where we are and where we are headed with respect to those who've been vaccinated, consider the cdc. tomorrow is expected to update its physical distancing guidelines for schools from 6 feet to 3 feet. that's despite the fact that he currently recommends against traveling. if you do, prepare to quarantine for up to ten days. instructions that make no distinction between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated. lawmakers on capitol hill are starting to push back. today senator and dr. rand paul pressed dr. anthony fauci, the de facto covid czar over mask wearing after vaccination. >> you've been vaccinated a new parade around into masks for show. you can't get it again. there is virtually 0% chance you're going to get it and you are telling people that have the vaccine or have immunity, you are defying everything we know about immunity by telling people to wear masks who been vaccinated. >> masks are not theater. masks are protective. >> if you already have immunity and you're wearing a mask you're giving comfort to others. do not wearing a mask because of science. >> i totally disagree. >> intense stuff on the hill. that exchange came a little over a week after the cdc released additional guidance that sent people more fully immunized can visit other vaccinated people indoors without wearing a mask or worry about social distancing. that's the very same cdc that also recommend the vaccinated people should still wear a mask in public settings and gatherings with unvaccinated people. if it's all unclear to you, there's a lot of us out there who agree. shannon. >> shannon: yeah, and you factor in the w.h.o. and the recommendations they are issuing that are in conflict with cdc, it gives people a lot of confusion on an issue that's extremely important. kevin, thank you for breaking it down. >> you back. >> shannon: border crisis or border challenge? that's the question for the white house after press secretary jen psaki said this in her daily briefing. >> they would be partners in dealing with the crisis on the border. >> crisis on the border, was that i -- >> challenge on the border. >> doesn't reflect a change in the administration's view of things? >> no. >> shannon: the biden administration facing criticism for a lack of transparency. we told you they'd been denying media ride along opportunities with border patrol agents and access, a look inside the migrant facilities. department of homeland security struggles with the surgeon illegal immigration, secretary alejandro mayorkas is vouching for his department's effort to carefully unaccompanied minors crossing the u.s.-mexico border. >> will make the conditions as safe as possible for the children whom we are not expelling. >> shannon: dhss we are on track to see the highest number of migrants attempting to enter the u.s. illegally in the last 20 years. the biden administration is sending 4 million doses of the astrazeneca vaccine to canada and mexico with potential approval for that formula in the u.s. likely still several weeks away. the news came as the president sounded ready to give his number to a promotion in his state of vaccination remarks today. >> one president harrison i took a virtual tour of a vaccination center in arizona not long ago. >> shannon: let's get reaction to the decision to share the non-u.s. approved astrazeneca vaccine which is raising concerns in europe. susan crabtree. steve hilton. welcome to you both. >> thanks for having us. >> shannon: to the point about the astrazeneca vaccine, it was temporarily shelved by a number of european countries apparently according to "science" magazine, there's been a rift between safety experts who say the cases of serious clotting and breeding are alarming and unusual. public health officials concerned that the immunization pause on a continent in the grip of the pandemics third wave could take a heavy toll. steve, what are we to believe? the european medicines agency has said it's a safe and effective vaccine. but they can't necessarily claim what's been happening with the blood clotting issues. >> according to them and according to the data, we are told to follow the data, the incidence of blood clotting among people who had this vaccine is lower than among what you'd expect in the general population. there's absolutely no safety grounds for stopping the distribution of this vaccine. the reason the number of european politicians decided to stop distribution of the vaccine was purely domestic politics. all connected with brexit. they are furious with the british. it's a british vaccine developed, astrazeneca at the university of oxford and they are furious with the british buying up vaccines so that the u.k. is way ahead of europe. they wanted to hit back. that's what it's about. the decision has been quickly reversed because it wasn't based on any science. since it hasn't been approved yet here, it's been widely used in the u.k. with no problems for many, many weeks. it's fair enough that the biden administration might as well put it to use with our neighbor countries. >> shannon: that's the plan for now. we saw the heat between senator rand paul, a medical doctor, and dr. fauci arguing today. if you are fully vaccinated, you need to wear a mask. is it optics. if you're telling people he they will not their freedom back after they've been fully vaccinated, folks think there's a law of diminishing returns were people are not going to want to rush out and get these vaccines? >> i think that's true. it's a real concern. like most americans, i'm somewhere between rand paul and dr. fauci. we need to know this information. dr. fauci at the hearing, talking about the variants. double masking attacks against variants. the jury is still out on whether the vaccines do so. i think americans need that information but now more than ever before. you are seeing older americans, my parents. he is feeling of freedom that he has been so constrained over the last year that's been lacking. they can't make choices. about who they're going to have in their homes, whether they're going to go to the grocery store. whether they're going to have to go to a barbecue, celebrate christmas. vaccines should be giving them that choice. this is about letting freedom rain finally after a year of these lockdowns. like common sense, the vaccine should be allowing older americans to finally make these choices for themselves. if they can be in the backyard with other people who are vaccinated, close family and friends, let freedom ring and let them make these decisions. >> shannon: happy birthday to your dad. i hope he gets to celebrate. while this caution and rule making and advice is coming out from a number of folks, charlie kirk tweets john kerry on a plane, no mask. nancy pelosi at her salon, no mask. joe biden, gavin newsom, lori lightfoot. it's all as if democrats only want to follow the science when it suits them. people will follow your leadership of they believe you are making sacrifices and complying. we see these examples of leaders who don't. >> i think these points have been made, these scandalous breaches of the rules that they tell us to follow. the point is made that its hypocrisy. it's much worse than hypocrisy. it's deeper that hypocrisy because what it really shows is that they themselves don't believe what they are telling us to do. if gavin newsom, one local example to me, if he really thought what he was telling everyone else to do, don't go out, don't be with other people in large groups, make sure you wear a mask. if you don't do that you're putting people's lives at risk. if he really believe that he wouldn't be going out and doing that. he doesn't want to kill people. but of course what it shows is that they don't really believe it. they know it's all b.s. they've been telling us to do it anyway. that is what is so infuriating. the point and i would end with from the cdc guidance for vaccinated people. what's most infuriating is that they say people who been vaccinated can meet indoors with no masks with other people at low risk, their words. nearly everyone is at low risk and has been for the last year because we know that it primarily affects older people than those with underlying conditions. it undermines the instructions that we've had for the past year. >> shannon: we are told to follow the science and follow the data. we are more of that at our fingertips every day and it's up to us to make responsible decisions and read the material and know what the facts say. susan and steve, thank you both. three women's rights groups are going
