you have to use money to sustain the lifestyle, put food food one table with inflation. 43% of adults not only stopped contributing they have dipped into the retirement accounts according to the latest statistics. pete: that is double bad. the market also tanked, contributing to the 401(k) you're giving away money you're giving away anyway. that is very indicative of how people, the desperation that people feel. that is why another part of that poll, actually a different poll from "usa today" asked americans to describe in one word the state of our country today and take a look at what the most likely answers are. awful, poor, terrible. 31%. chaotic, messy confused. not a lot of good news. 5% of people said great. rachel: that was jeff bezos [laughter]. he is doing great. but, i would say that those words, awful, poor, terrible, those are exactly how people feel. you have, we have record numbers of people going to food banks. we have old people who don't know how they will pay their heating bills. by the way, this diesel shortage, that's looming. we don't know how that will affect the economy and people's day-to-day living. things are not looking good. that is bad news for the american people. it is also very bad news just a few, you know, weeks ahead of a midterm election for the democrats. will: if you guessed, somebody gave you that word grouping mine would have been chaotic, chaotic, distrust, messy grouping. everything in america feels like it's a response, if it is not a response to in contribution to chaos. rachel: that is what i saw at the border, by the way. coming back from texas i came back angry at all the things that i saw. i haven't told you guys everything that i saw but it is just, it is, it's infuriating when you see it. actually i wouldn't say that the situation is chaotic. it's very well-organized at this point. people are coming across the border and getting on planes within 24 hours. so it is an organized chaos. pete: almost if the chaos seems to benefit certain people but those stuck in the chaos have to deal with the new standard of living. >> precisely. pete: got it. the worst of both worlds as well. there was also a photo that went viral of a earlier this week. rachel: yeah. pete: there it is right there, of a dad, he is a kentucky coal miner, who wanted to take his 3-year-old son to the university of kentucky basketball game but he didn't have time to go home and shower or change. so cared in soot, said more important i get my kid to this game and he did. he took his kid. so adults, fathers, mothers through these chaotic and difficult times finding ways to make it work. prioritizing their kids. their kids. rachel: yes, say that. pete: when you get to, that matters at the ballot box too, what does the future look like for my kids. what does the school look like for my kids? you're a vet. you've done so much to help this country. you started this amazing project to go and serve by picking up trash which we know is destroying the area in the border area where people are crossing. what are your final thoughts on what you saw and how you feel about this situation at our southern border? >> actually had a friend who was playing basketball and he saw a woman taking cash out after vending machine and it kind of sparked an idea. so it was something that he presented to me down the line. i thought about getting into it as a side hustle. i didn't imagine it being as successful as it is today. will: what is the investment? what is the cost to buy a vending machine? >> well, many people buy, i recommend, for a smaller vendors getting started out to do refurbished machines. that may cost about $1500 per machine. so if you have to do two, recommend people have about 3500 to $5000 for a little bit of wiggle room. will: what do you put in your vending machines? >> typically i put in traditional soda, snacks, different kind of candies, chips. in some instances we might put in food items like small pasta dinners, rahm men, different things of that nature. will: so, on our screen right now says you earned $340,000 last year. how many vending machines that you have in your service? >> currently i have 21 vending machines. i sold a few. i'm actually in the process of adding about 10 more to my business and, with hopes of getting around being up around 40, to 50 before the end of the year because i have a college university that i will be putting some vending machines in. will: $340,000 is between the 21 vending machines, is that right. >> it was 25 vending machines. i sold four. will: i'm curious what is the labor for year? how much service is required for you to go around vending machine, vending machine on a monthly basis? >> it would, it used to take me about init to 12 hours because some are close to one another. i have hired staff. my sister is one of my employees. she does a boatload of the stocking and shopping for the vending machines. i'm operating multiple states at this point. i have about five different staff members. now i actually don't do anything physically with my vending machines. will: okay. so i'm doing the math real quick. you have 25, roughly vending machines and you bought them for 1500. what is each vending machine making a year?
