FBC The Intelligence Report With Trish Regan March 8, 2017

Between disclosing John Podestas gmail accounts and back and forth and undermining of Hillary Clinton and thoughts on her and a personal nature, and the leaking of classified information, there isays maive, massive difference between the two things. And again, the interests and the outrage that occurred last year by a lot of democrats when it came to leaks is interesting were hearing not as much outrage now when it comes to issues of National Security. April . Reporter sean, couple questions, one you said you affirmed congressman cummings was meeting with President Trump today. Yes. Reporter in the last press conference, the president talked about senator schumer telling elijah cummings, what happened to smooth this over and what is the conversation about . Solely be on high cost of prescription drugs . I think the nature of the meeting stems from the conversation they had on the phone which was on prescription drugs, and then im sure that if congressman cummings or the president springs up another subject, it will go there. We will try to have a reouting on that. In other words, the nature is an area they agreement if you remember, one of the things they talked about on the phone, there were probably several more areas that they would agree on, and find they would agree on throughout a conversation, and i hope that that conversation, you know, does exactly what they said it would, in terms of, you know, getting to those areas of common agreement where they can Work Together to solve additional problems that our country faces. Reporter so you dont have any knowledge what happened to smooth that over . No, i know our teams were in touch with his office, immediately followed, and there were aouple of times when the meetings tried to be scheduled and didnt work out. Luckily now it was able to. Reporter one member right after the press conference, the white house reached out to the congressional black caucus, cedric richmond, the head of the black caucus. Where does the meeting land . Is it happening . We reached out, were looking for a date on that as well. Were pleased this was able to come together and well get to the other. Reporter last question. Yesterday there was comparing contrast with visual showandtell. Yes, i saw that. Reporter so and you compared and contrasted about how youre going about it and how the Obama Administration went about obamacare. One difference that they made note of, and i want your response to this, is the fact you said this versus what theyre doing, one thing they say you did not do that they did, had their bill scored by cbo, and you did not score it by cbo . Sure, it is being scored. With all due respect, this is the same group who passed it and told us we could read it. This bill is online for every american to go read the bill dot gop. On the speakers website. It was treated for i understand that, if thats the complaint. This is the same group that didnt let anybody read it, jammed it through with no bipartisan support. This president reached out to both sides of the aisle, had governors and senators here to get input. There is no contrast between what they did and we did. This is full effort to reach out to members in the house and the senate. Going through regular order in the house, every member of the house and the senate will have their opportunity to have amendments offered through the Committee Process and on the floor. So the idea they can compare the date that they got a score is reaching deep on this, because theres been an opportunity for members to have input on this and to talk about their concerns to give their input on it, especially the governors left on the sideline last time, and who have such an Important Role in administering health care when it comes to medicaid. The idea they talk about no score was issued. There will be a score in good time. The irony of the score is the cbo was way off the last time. I dont think that were waiting that thats a big issue to us right now. Reporter doesnt cost matter . Of course cost matters, look how off they were last time. If youre looking for cbo for accuracy, youre looking in the wrong place. They were way, way off how they projected and scored obamacare. Last time, if you look at number of people they projected would be on obamacare, they are off by millions. The idea were waiting for a score, it will be scored but the idea thats Authority Based on the track record that occurred last time is farfetched. Jessica . Reporter two questions on the wall, sean, as you know prototypes went out today and i was curious about the timing of that, how much pressure there was to get that going quickly. And secondly, if there is guidance in the white house about what kinds of vendoring can build the wall, especially can International Vendors build the wall . I think that process is working through, as the about. Were trying to move ahead with existing funds that dhs has and well continue to create a timeline to ask congress for that funding. Were working with congress on that. And then, i dont think it will be any surprise to know that the president is going to favor American Workers and American Companies when it comes to american project. That shouldnt be any kind of surprise. Blake. Reporter increasingly lightweight that the Federal Reserve will hike interest rates. Two questions, one, how does the president feel about that . Secondly does, he have the full confidence of janet yellen who described the campaign as too political . Let me get back to you on that. I dont have comment on the Federal Reserve. As i mentioned at the outset, when you look at hiring and the jobs and the manufacturing and the pace, the Consumer Confidence of the ceo indexes that have already come out in the first two months, we see a resurgence, optimism in the economy by job creators to want to hire here, manufacture here, who want to grow here, and i think that our economy is clearly on the upswi, and i think you see statement after statement, comny after company, coming out and sharing in the president s vision for moving the country forward, and for renewing the optimism and building and being part of an american resurgence in terms of our economy. Reporter the no comment on mrs. Yellen or thoughts for rate hikes . Ill get back to you on both. Hows that . Reporter last question about this administration and the previous one, how it approached the issue. One thing the Obama Administration did do is get stakeholders at the table, aarp, strongly opposed to the proposal. Whats your message particularly with respect to the aarp . They got a really good deal last time when it came to prescription drugs in particular. I think this is a patientcentric bill. Its about patients, people, americans left behind. Look what the deals got people last time. For all the people on medicaid in particular, they dont have choices anymore, so i would argue that the president has put the American People first and put patients first. So you can talk about were glad to have support, make no mistake about it, but i think the support this administration and i think the house is focused on is getting every american there by and their support. Wed love to have every group on board. Every single deal we heard about it getting through the cornhusker kickback, this and that. Over and over again, one deal after another to buy votes to get it through the senate. So if you want to line up how many special interest got paid off last time versus now, theyll probably win hands down. Reporter sean. Hold on this. Isnt about figuring out how many special interests we get paid off. Its about making sure patients get the best deal and lower the prices and the costs. At some point, youre defending the indefensible, nancy pelosi put out three criteria how they judge obamacare, they fail on all three, costs are up, choices are down. No other way to judge that. By every account, every single premium by every standard is up, choices are down across the country. So there is a horrible deal that the American People got sold, and were trying to put patients first in line. Reporter the aarp specifically talking about patients in the 50s and 60s, aarp describes this as age tax that will disproportionately affect people who are low income, benefitting from subsidies under obamacare, and could stand to take a hit of thousands of dollars in Premium Payments each year when the subsidies go away and tax credits go away. Whats the message for the president . The message for the president is we want you to get more choice, lower costs. As we work the bill through daylight, not jam it through in the middle of the night, that they are going to see as more and more people will that this is a deal for the American People thats going to put patients first, lower costs and give them more choices. There is probably not a person out there either through themselves or a loved one or a friend or a colleague that has seen choices go down and premiums go up. So what people are dealing with now is not acceptable, and i think that the idea that anyone is defending the current status quo and in some of the statements of some of the growth, they admit theres a problem right now. My advice is join the process, share your idea, share your thought. Let the process work its will so it is a bill that has input. The bill the way it was done last time is something that is not acceptable. Shannon . Reporter is the president worried that every major doctor group, the american medical association, American College of physicians have come out and said they have serious concern for all the talk of doctors and patients and choice. The doctors groups are unanimously saying theyre not supportive of this. Does that concern you . When you look at doctors versus the associations here in washington, weve had tremendous input from doctors themselves. Dr. Price, a doctor, is the one who crafted this. You have a doctor in charge of the administrations effort to work with congress. Youve got several physicians and other medical professionals in congress that are talking about the experiences they have. Many ran for congress because of the concerns they saw in their own industry. While i have respect for some of the work that the washington, d. C. Based associations do, at the end of the day, this is about the patients and the input from doctors on the front line of seeing patients and talk about the care theyre able to give or not to give to people. Anita . Reporter can i follow up on Something Else you said. Sorry. You talk about people having a card. Its a 2,000 deductible and only ten doctors in town. Thats better than nothing if you get cancer or hit by a car. Maybe it is, if this bans access to people and choice but reduces the number of people who actually have can it do both . Of course it can, and will do both, by insuring people, right now you have people paying the penalty and saying i dont Want Health Care because costs are too high. Five, six, seven years ago before obamacare went in place, a single individual, young individual person on the open market could get a premium, a plan with a premium, 100, 150 bucks a month, its in the high 300s now. Theres a big difference. For young people entering the workplace, for example, they get into an accident, right now a lot of individuals that get off Parents Health care that say im healthy, i have no desire to get health care, its a few hundred dollars a month that i dont have, i can spend it on Something Else. If we can get the costs down and get plans tailored to them, 27, 28yearold individuals dont need care thats for folks that talks about certain things that a plan that has certain things towards the end of life. Right now youve got one size fits all governmentrun, governmentmandated plans that offer people a suite of medical services that they do not need because theres no choice, and its a governmentmandated system. I think offering more choice and more competition allows people to pick a plan more tail order to your need. This goes back to what john was asking, if you can pick a plan and across state lines that suits you as an individual, as opposed to maybe theres a family plan thats more comprehensive. It has dental and vision and all of the things that your kids need because of all the things that you anticipate, thats a plan that a young family might need versus an older person thats single or younger person entering the workforce. There is no competition, theres no choice, its not an either or situation, were facing a situation where more and more people are getting less and less and paying more for it. Anita . My apologies, anita and mara. Reporter the military have recently conducted some kind of exercise at the naval base at Guantanamo Bay and it was preparing for a migrant crisis, and there is a dhs Migrant Center there, and i wondered if the administration has considered what you all think about using that facility for immigrants . Well, i would just that particular exercise to the best of my knowledge is a rather regular exercise that occurs, as do many of the exercises that the military prepares for and a whole host of contingency operations. That say routine military operation. Reporter any consideration, though . It is a routine military operation, as several of them do with our partners throughout the world, where we plan for random contingencies that may or may not happen. Thats the job for the military to practice on a whole host of issues, but to try to ascertain reporter are you all considering using the facility for immigrants . There is nothing to consider it for. Were fine right now. There is nothing that we would need to use it for. Again, i think part of the goal of preparing the military going through various exercises is on a whole host of issues. On refugees, they prepare for Natural Disasters. Were not anticipating a Natural Disaster but we prepare for them. We, at the white house, when we were coming in as an administration, we briefed during the transition period. We did call it right seat left seat operation, we sat down and talked about cyberattacks and Natural Disasters and the whole of government response in some of these things. Doesnt mean we anticipate them or want them. It means were going to prepare for them, in the way organizations do fire drills, not that you anticipate or expect a fire but you prepare for them as families do. Preparedness is key to executing well. Thats all were doing. Reporter secondly, the louisville media is reporting that President Trump will be there on saturday. You can confirm that, and is that about health care as you make the rounds . Ive seen that report. We have nothing to report with respect to the president s schedule at this time. As i mentioned to, i think it was shannon, that we will have, or is it jill . Somewhere in this area, we will have an update on the president s schedule later this week, i anticipate the president to be very active in his support for the repeal and replace effort. So this is what you should expect. Now mara . Reporter the cbo score is supposed to come out next week. You called into question their credibility. I didnt call into the question thanks, matt, i appreciate, i can answer. The record is clear when you look at number of people and the costs on what they scored the last obamacare bill on, its way off. Thats a fact. Thats not anything more than that. Reporter people base their votes on what they think is going to happen to the cost and the coverage. Thats right. Reporter is there any analytic organization that you would accept a score from . Well, i think yeah, i think omb will probably put out a score on that. No, no, im not saying, all im saying is look at what the cbos record is on obamacare, its vastly off. They projected 20 Million People to be on obamacare this year, i believe the number is 12. Theyre way off in terms of the millions. So its not a question whether im questioning anything, anyone that can do basic math can understand their projections for obamacare, the last time, were way, way off the mark. So my only point is they think when they come out with this score, we need to understand the track record when it comes to health care. John . Reporter is there scoring theres probably a lot. Members have to look at a lot of things to cast their vote on. Look at the totality of the bill, the support of their constituents, the current state of things. I think there is no question, look, when you look at trajectory of the cost in terms of premiums, you can either say, and not just the premiums, but obamacare is going to collapse on its own weight very soon, and the president made it very clear in his press conference and a lot of previous statements. Politically easy thing to do is let it collapse and let democrats come back to the table. I dont think thats the right thing, and the president made it clear, this is not the right thing. This is the opportunity to show the American People that the right thing to do is care about Health Care Options and the costs theyre paying. Reporter one thing, he mentioned deductibles and going you of under obamacare. Are you promising deductibles will come down on under this plan . Everything we are led to believe, yes, this will drive costs down. When you talk about opening pooling, driving costs down because you can buy it over state lines, everything that has driven up costs, all of the Market Forces will come in and i think every leading Economist Says it will drive costs down. John . Reporter thank you, sean, the premiere argument by democrats, notably former president obama today is that enactment of the act that we were that was illustrated yesterday would lead to many people losing their health care. You certainly heard that from demo
