Stand up to bullies wherever they are. And why we shouldnt let anybody bully his way into the presidency. The war is on according to the latest poll, the donalds comments arent pushing away voters. Hi, gerri, these two frontrunners have really stepped up the crossfire the latest in which donald trump told Hillary Clinton to be careful on quote the war on women. Well, coincidental or not that tweet came from the Des Moines Register with clinton and what she was asked about trumps use of a certain phrase weve all heard it by now in the last couple of days or so. Well, clinton sounded this way. Heres what she said quote. Its not the first time he was demonstrated pension for sexism. She added im sure not anybody is surprised she he keeps pushing the envelope. Now, trump has pushed back against the backlash writing in a tweet that the term wasnt vulgar and is to express how it was in 08. And he feels the talk stems from clinton, not run against his father. Saying she got beat badly and quite frankly she didnt. Clinton is the last person that wants to go against trump. He is tough as nails. Continues on the republican primary the latest poll from cnn out today shows about four and ten voters, he registers at 39 , that puts him 21 points ahead of cruz. That is from the quinnipiac poll yesterday but also falls directly in line with the fox news poll 39, 18, at least the one that was released friday. Gerri thanks for that. And now joining me scotty senator iowa state senator. Welcome both. I want to start with the donald trump comments. And ill go to you first, scotty. If this is what passes for an apology, boy, howdy, weve got a long way to go. What do you make of his comments . Is he backing away do you think from his statement . Well, first of all, mr. Trump never backs away from any statement. And if he was, this would not be the one i would want him to back away from. No, hes going to keep Going Forward request i think he calls it for what it is. Its not vulgar, its yiddish and this is one distract in all that mrs. Clinton can tried to encourage because it takes away from the fact that she lied saturday night about a video slamming trump that he was a major recruiter for isis. Gerri it just goes on and on. Right. Sure. Gerri so maybe you think this is beyond the pale, maybe you dont but hillary saying, hey, the war for women is on. Do you agree with that . Is that where were headed now . Is this the republican this is going to be used, obviously it is given the story leading into our segment here. The Hillary Campaign is trying to sees upon the utilitiesization of this perceived off color language that donald trump is a sexist. Frankly i agree with what donald trump said and im sure its what he meant that as far as saying, well, hes trying to describe the fact that things didnt work out so well for hillary in 2008. And thats all this is. I dont think he was meaning to be sexist. Ill go a step further. Im a democrat female elected in the industrial midwest. I hang out in places like union halls and on construction sites, and if you cant handle course language, if i couldnt handle it, i would be out of a job. People have to get over themselves. Gerri scotty, i just want to ask you, though. They say war on women but what im wondering is in the white house, once in the white house, how will people take this kind of language if he continues talking like this . Well, whos to say hes going to keep this language . He went to one of the best schools, he can speak intellectually. But right now, he is trying to talk to the common man, to the voter. And it works. This type of language is used and guess this is why the 40 enjoy him and his numbers are going to continue to grow because it relates. Something the Republican Party has not been able to do. And resonating with democrats as well. The guys in the union halls. They like the fact that donald trump is a plain speaker. Gerri ive got to tell you, though, what bugs me is hillarys victim card usage here. Ive got to tell you i think its over the top. But lets move to the numbers because the donald has three time as many voters supporting him an anyone else. Can he maintain this kind of momentum . Can this stick . Absolutely especially when youre talking about ohio and New Hampshire, it can absolutely stick because these polls just renderings registering republicans, its not talking about the independents or those who have never voted. Do you remember those people where the republicans wanted to have . So absolutely these numbers are going to continue to grow as we wield out the rest of the field. Gerri i want to turn to jeb now, we had a great interview, my colleague jo ling kent interviewed him last night. I want you to hear what he had to say. I dont think you can insult your way to the presidency. I know that for a fact. Every time he does that, he makes it harder for the eventual nominee to win and thats my goal. Not to be the Big Personality on the stage and to insult people. Disparage people. Tell people disabilities, make fun of them. I mean come on. Were running for the president of the United States, we need a serious candidate to take on Hillary Clinton not someone who is viewing this as a reality tv show. Gerri do you buy that . Can he make it . Does he have any momentum at all at this point . You know, he i would love to run off of justin and be the first lady of canada, it would be a dream. Its not happening, and its not the year for jeb bush either. This is the year for outsiders, its not year for establishment governors for better or worse, i respect the fact that jeb is frustrated, but i dont think its looking good for him. Gerri i like the other thing he had to say about insulting your way to the presidency. Listen to this. Simple fact is i believe im going to be the nominee, and its going to start here in New Hampshire where people take their role responsibly. And theyre not going to support a candidate that insults every single group that exists in this country. Gerri scotty, doesnt he make a good point here, though . I mean at some point dont you have to sound president ial . Any other election i would agree with you, gerri, but right now were dealing with terrorism, and we want somebody who is strong, fierce, and willing to stand up, even if its not the most politically correct thing to do. So Donald Trumps language actually helps him in this situation because it shows he is loyal and strong, and thats what the American People have been missing. 2016 is breaking all the molds. So i think anything can possibly happen and the voters want something different. Gerri well, im telling you were getting a whole lot of different here. Thats for sure. Guys, thanks, scotty and capri. Great job. Appreciate your time. Thank you. Gerri and, hey, dont forget fox business big diagnostic night is just around the corner, were going round two with republican candidates in beautiful charleston, south carolina. It all kicks off january 14th right here on the fox business network. Youre not going to want to miss this. And Hillary Clinton isnt only knocking donald trump but the entire Republican Party. Thats right. Clinton is claiming the economy does better with a democrat as president. Listen. Our economy works better when we have a democrat in the white house. I think that it shows over many years that we have a. [clapping] a history of lower unemployment, higher in the accident, and you are four times more likely to have a recession when you have a republican in the white house. Gerri the economist peter mauricey, peter, ill start with you. I dont know what numbers shes looking at. Weve had years, the entire time the president has been in office, the average gdp cant break 3 . What is she talking about . Well, its selective use of statistics. If you compare the obama years and the reagan years, both had very deep recessions at the beginning. Reagans deeper. 10. 8 unemployment. Bigger than obamas. Coming out of that over the same period of time, reagan averaged 4. 6 growth. Obama 2. 1. Reagan created twice as many jobs. Its the old story. Liars and statistics, statistics and liars. You really cant trust what comes out of hillarys mouth. Big lie technique has been so effective. The editor of the wall street journal said the very same thing. The very same thing in a question during the last fox debate. Hes in their camp, hes basically gerri well, i dont know about that but lets get back to what were talking about here. Heres hillarys point, and can, doug, ill turn to you. During bill clintons period in the white house, 7. 7 million folks were brought out of poverty they say, 2. 2 million jobs were created they say. A balanced budget was put in place. So whats wrong with that, my friend . So theres nothing wrong with that and indeed it would be wonderful if thats what she wanted to do. But if you look at what shes actually proposing, shes not looking to bring back her husbands economic policies. He was in favor of passing to the congress. Shes opposed to trade. Hes famously declared the era of Big Government is over. She just passed a trillion dollars in new spending proposals. This is not her husbands economic policies. This is a continuation of the policies that have given us 2 growth in the course of the recovery. This is the third obama term. Shes proposal exactly the same policy. So, you know, if you want to really be daring, you know, bring back jim carter and 9 unemployment and those policies. Gerri you know, one of the things we talk about all the time at this Network Labor force participation; right . Were back to the 1970s, peter mauricey. This is not good news. What is hillary going to do about that . Is she going to have the same old prescriptions as president barack obama . I think so. And theyre very, very bad. For example, she talks about gender equity in the workplace and paying and so forth. 60 of the degrees by higher institutions go to women. Only 40 to boys. Boys are doing very badly in school and now were starting to see the cumulative consequence of that. We have 7 million men under barack obama who are between the ages of 25 and 54 too old for school, too young to retire who are neither looking for work nor working. Largely theyre unequipped to work, yet she only talks about women. The real issue here is providing opportunity for everyone. Gerri right . We dont need someone who is going to be president for only half the economy. Gerri well, isnt the real solution here, doug, that the broader economy growth . I mean isnt that what every policy should be oriented to . Weve got to get above 3 . We have to have lift off. We havent had lift off since the last recession. If you look at the post war record in the United States it grew rapidly enough that the standard doubled every 32 years. Thats one persons working career. If we continue at the pace now, its going to take 70 years. Thats simply unacceptable. What we need is more rapid Economic Growth and everything should be laser focused on that. Nothing were hear from Hillary Clinton is are going to focus on Economic Growth. These are all policies that redebate money and put it to constituencies. Gerri lets talk about next year. Peter, im very interested in what we can expect because weve seen Corporate America is not doing that will. You look at the s p 500 we didnt you take out, you know, essentially money theyve set aside for purchases, et cetera, you look at the real earnings there. Its simply not impressive. What do you see Going Forward . Are we going to slip into another recession . No. I dont believe were going to slip into another recession. The growth isnt going to take off because consumers feel pessimistic and theyre not spending the dividend from lower gas prices by getting out there and doing more buying. And at the same time low oil prices are hurting the dramatic growth weve got in the oil and gas sector, which is a good deal in the obama recovery. We clearly need a different set of economic policies and next year there isnt going to be change in the policy because of the election. Gerri and, do you think whats your outlook . I have the same bottom line as peter. I would say the key to getting more rapid Economic Growth are the two things that have been missing in this recovery. Number one restarting the machine. Were just not creating enough new businesses and thats traditionally been a route for employment growth and income growth, and we havent had a big cap x recovery. Our existing companies have been holding onto their cash, and we just havent seen an investment recovery. We have another bad report today, and we just arent seeing that. And until we see it, we wont grow more rapidly. Gerri tax reform needed. Peter, doug, thank you very much for your time today. Merry christmas to both of you. Thank you, gerri. Merry christmas. Gerri and a lot more to come this hour, including if youre dreaming of a White House Christmas or if youre looking to build a snow man. Much of the country will be out of luck. Well have the latest from the Weather Center and feel like youre spending more on your daughter than your son this christmas . Well, you may be right. The results of a new study coming up. And santa claus will that rally happen in time to send the market into the positive territory . The s p 500 is already there but what about the other indexes . A look at wall streets wild ride coming up when youre on hold, your business is on hold. Thats why comcast business doesnt leave you there. Watch now with xfinity on demand your home for the best entertainment this Holiday Season. Gerri well, investors today, theyre trying with all their might to turn the dow positive for the year. The s p running around the break even point but you know what . Its been pretty bumpy recently if youre an investor. Weve seen a record eight days look at this of straight triple digit swing. Unbelievable. 100 points one day, down 100 the next. Will we have to ride this wave through the new year . Lets bring in dan shaver of schaffer asset of management and our very own Ashley Webster live on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Ash, whats going on with the s p . Well, were getting there, today is all about oil, weve got a rebound in the oil price, the crude price because we have a bigger draw down than expected, that has raised oil, thats giving support to stocks but other sectors as well in the commodities area, industrial metals, all of those things we very rarely talk about. So they do have a big impact on the overall market were seeing that lift as talked to one trader just a few minutes ago, and he said right now the volume is very thin, its all about technical trading, he said the computers are running the show right now. But we are were up 157 on the dow. Not bad. Gerri well, i have to tell you that happens more than wed like to admit where the machines run things. Dan, tell me why have we seen so much volatility here . Eight days, 100 days point swings every day. Where does that come from . Well, the volatility is picking up because uncertainty of what Government Policies are. Where Interest Rates are going and basically fear. Money coming in and out, especially in this month of december with a lot of redemptions of hedge funds at a trying to take the money out of the market and new money comes in, its been uncertainty and the market doesnt like that. And i expect next year the uncertainty to be even greater than it is now. The volatility exposure is going to be tremendous. Gerri and i know a lot of people are worried about this. In the break i want to talk about this, i know were going to talk stocks mostly but so many of our viewers are worried about the bond portion of their portfolio. Yes. Gerri maybe they were in third avenue, the fund that blew up recently. Theyre worried about their more volatile issues where they stretched for yield. Whats your advice . My advice is do not stretch for yield anymore. A lot of people have done that and the problem is the banks because of the new acts that have been put into place arent allowing them to take positions on the other side of the liquidity. So theyre just you cant match buyers and sellers. What happens when you dont have boys when you want to sell . So thats become a problem in the high yield marketplace, so i would be very, very careful there, and i would stick to companies that pay dividends but, again, youve got to look for stability, and thats going to be very hard to find next year. So people i was just listening to your previous segment, people are holding onto money, theyre putting in cash, theyre not spending it, the velocity of money has collapsed to gerri velocity of money. What the heck does that mean . Basically people buying something and when they buy it from a vendor, that vendor goes and buys something else. Gerri money turning. Moving in the economy. And every month they update this report, and it has fallen off a cliff just like it did in japan. And you cant stop that with Interest Rate policies. Its what people are so afraid of the future that theyre hoarding and saving cash. Gerri dont say japan and the u. S. In the same sentence. I hate to hear that. Ash, are you still there . I am still here. Of course. Gerri excellent. A lot of people talking about 2016. What happens . This looks like a little bit of a santa claus rally going on but its pretty puny if you ask me. I was hoping for Hillary Clinton to be careful on quote the war on women. Well, coincidental or not that tweet came from the Des Moines Register with clinton and what she was asked about trumps use of a certain phrase weve all heard it by now in the last couple of days or so. I was hoping for Something Better. Whats the outlook . What are people telling you on the floor there . Well, i think dans right, theres a lot of uncertainty out there at the time were raising Interest Rates is the economy Strong Enough . It should be for a quarter percent here or there. But when you look at the price of oil not only is it a supply issue but also Global Demand issue. The Global Economy is not great. China we know has issues, europe is printing money and if you like divergence between whats going on here and elsewhere in the rest of the world, its hard and of course dont forget the strong dollar, which has really cut into corporate earnings. So there is some uncertainty as we head into the new year, especially as were looking at the fed continuing to raise Interest Rates. Gerri yuan we could be ending a sixyear run for positive move on stocks. Maybe not. Quickly, dan, to you, as you look at 2016. Thumbs up, thumbs down . Thumbs down. This has been a stock punishing year. A lot of managements down tremendously and theyve gotten full im up for the year, which is great. But next year its going to become worse. If youre in the indexes next year, i think youre going to have a very rough year. You really should be picking stocks that have and earnings have growth and have had them and dont be fooled. This commodity crash thats occurring is not over yet. Gold is still yet to hit my target of 860. Crude oil has hit my targets all the way down from 100. And the green markets, you know, people dont hear about it. But sugar, cocoa, coffee, soybeans, corn, theyre all down. Were in a global depolice stationary recession. Gerri thats where i hope youre wrong. We inflate, and its getting worse. Gerri well, Merry Christmas to you, my friend. Ashley, dan, good job. Well see both of you a little bit later. Thanks. And to pink toys cost more than blue ones . What about the womens clothes compared to men . The result of a new study out this Holiday Season next gerri all right. Do products designed for the ladies cost more than the products designed for the men . A new Consumer Affairs study says they do, and it happens just about everywhere. Jeff flock at a chicago target store. All right. Give us the details. I live this. I know this. You buy a pink toothbrush, it costs more than a blue one, this is an outrage. I think pink paint must cost more than blue paint, thats the issue. There are a lot of issues but department of Consumer Affairs studied about 800 products. Take a look at the numbers on what they found. 42 of the time the thing made for the women cost more. 40 it was pretty even and 18 only did it cost more for the mens thing. Now, youre saying what are we talking about . Were talking about a whole bunch of stuff. For example, take a look at a toddler helmet for girls and boys, the boys one. 14. 99 for the rascals helmet. For the women, 27. 99. Now, the women had a unicorn on it and the men a dinosaur. Take a look at abercrombie fitch, the mens tshirt 12th at abercrombie, womens tshirt 40. And lastly another example genes. Now, this one there may be more styling involved, sometimes womens clothes does take a little bit more effort but the levis 501 genes 68, womens 88. As you say, gerri, you probably have lived this. But, you know, you look pretty great. So if it cost a few extra bucks, i think its worth it. Gerri youre so nice. Youre sucking up, jeff, but let me tell you. Its not just goods or services. When i get my blouse dry cleaned, it cost three to five times more than if my husband does. Gerri if you call it a blouse instead of a shirt, youre dead. Exactly. But they look good. Gerri jeff, thank you. Terrific reporting as always. And coming up next iraqi forces making inroads against isis as Security Officials across the country are out in full force ahead of christmas. More on whats being done to keep us safe coming up after ths with passion. But i keep it growing by making every dollar count. Thats why i have the spark cash card from capital one. I earn unlimited 2 cash back on everything i buy for my studio. And that unlimited 2 cash back from spark means thousands of dollars each year going back into my business. Thats huge for my bottom line. Whats in your wallet . Gerri a new york city detective was one of six american soldiers killed in a Suicide Attack in afghanistan this week just days before christmas. Joseph is being remembered here, a husband and father of two. Look at him with his kids. He was on his third tour of duty when his second one ended last july. He surprised his family with this home coming. Meanwhile the Silver Shield foundation is a nonprofit that helps children of Fallen Police and firefighters. The group taking donations to help the family this Holiday Season. If you wish to give, go to Silver Shield foundation. Org. Silvershieldfoundation. Org. And this. Iraqi troops are expected to retake the city of ramadi from isiss control in just the matter of days. Thats according to iraq army chief. But even if they can drive out isis forces, will they be able to keep them out . And will this impact us here at home . Joining me now christian white, the former States Department official, thanks for coming on the show and thanks for bringing your expertise to bear on this . How likely is it that iraq is successful in this goal . And what is the larger meaning of it . Its likely. Its not certain until its done. There have been times in the past where the iraqi army has vowed to retake territory and failed. Most notably up north, which was supposed to be retain this summer, never happened. But this is significant. Its taking territory back from isis, ramadi sits on the euphrates river, in the sunni triangle in anber which is the west to iraq. So its good to take it from isis. The problem is the overall picture is not add as good as the iraq and the u. S. Government are saying. Theyre saying taking back Something Like 14 of isis territory over the last several months, which isnt really true if you take a look at the Bigger Picture because isis is expanding in libya, taking can control and policing the streets of sert and also showing up in other countries even as far away as places like malaysia and indonesia. Gerri pictures bad and your comments raise the question is what we need american boots on the ground . Is that the only thing that can ensure some kind of victory here . Yeah, if my view is that if its necessary to go to war, you should do so with overwhelming force and seek a prompt victory. Democracies dont do well with prolonged and indecisive wars. I think a show of american resolve against isis might actually form this allusive coalition of arab armies and others. So i do think a u. S. Presence more significant frankly than the safe zones that some of the president ial candidates are talking about. That strikes me as a limited war thats going to go on forever. If isis is worth destroying, and i think weve crossed that point, then we should do so rapidly. And incidentally we dont have to turn iraq and syria into beverly hills, we can destroy isis but there has to be a ground element and then get out. Gerri well, Big Questions about that now and of course its christmastime here in the states; right . And were all wondering just how safe are we . Theres been some talk about threats against new york city. Theyve been bashed by officials here. How concerned should web . And what should web doing as regular citizens this Holiday Weekend . Uhhuh, well, i think there is cause for concern that the story of 2015 really is the jihad came to the west in a way we havent really seen since 9 11. Not just in San Bernardino here in california but also in paris twice and copenhagen in canada, sydney, australia and a number of other places, a train to amsterdam where the massacre was foiled by u. S. Service men. So this threat is real. Certainly Police Forces are doing i think a good job around the country but police cant be everywhere. What it takes when you have a bad guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. So taking a number of americans do take the steps of defending themselves if they feel comfortable and get a permit to carry a concealed weapon within thats not a choice for everybody, but something i think to consider. But more importantly the policy angle is giving police the tools they need to track jihadist. New york mayor de blasio has prevented the nypd from doing wise and sensible surveillance of, for example, mosques and radicallists who operate out of them. This is the type of things they need to revisit because theyve gone from the waste side as people have become complacent. Gerri christian, if you see something, say something. Thats what i say. Thank you for coming on. Merry christmas, happy holidays. Merry christmas. Thanks. Gerri and when we come back more than half of American Parents are making a huge mistake with their savings. Well tell you what it is. And for most of the country there will be no talking Winter Wonderland this christmas. A look at the recordbreaking temperatures coming up. I accept im not 22. I accept im not the rower i used to be. I even accept i have a higher risk of stroke due to afib, a type of irregular heartbeat not caused by a heart valve problem. But i wont accept is getting out there with less than my best. So if i can go for Something Better than warfarin, i will. Eliquis. Eliquis reduced the risk of stroke better than warfarin, plus it had significantly less major bleeding than warfarin. Eliquis had both. That really mattered to me. Dont stop taking eliquis unless your doctor tells you to, as stopping increases your risk of having a stroke. Eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. Dont take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. While taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily and it may take longer than usual for any bleeding to stop. Seek immediate medical care for sudden signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Eliquis may increase your bleeding risk if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctor about all planned medical or dental procedures. I accept i dont have to set records. But im still going for my personal best. And for eliquis. Reduced risk of stroke plus less major bleeding. Ask your doctor if switching to eliquis is right for you. Im definitely able to see savings through using the car buying on usaa. I mean, amazing savings. I was like, wow, if i could save this much, then i could actually maybe upgrade a little bit. announcer usaa Car Buying Service powered by truecar. Save money, zero hassle. Im Ashley Webster on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange with your fox business brief, all the major exchanges moving higher on this eve of christmas eve, as you can see the dow up 181 points, s p and nasdaq all up, the s p now up one and a quarter turning positive for the year. What are the stocks moving today . Moving those markets higher. Well, certainly in the energy sector, chevron up 3. 5 , exxon mobile up 3 , dupont also up nicely 2 . Caterpillar the Big Industrial company up 2 . United technologies up 1. 75 . Just want to mention nike. Nike moving down today even though it had a decent Earnings Report after the bell yesterday. Down 2 but still leads the dow for the entire year gaining a little over 30 . Thats the latest from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. More of the Intelligence Report with gerri willis next gerri its no surprise todays economic climate young adults are having more difficulty supporting themselves financially, however, the weight of the problem is being solved by mom and dad according to the wealth institute. Nearly half of parents with children age 18 to 34 are willing to retire later to support their kids. Joining me now dan schaffer, the president and ceo of schaffer asset negotiate. I look at this, and i think why are people this has got to be a big threat to the ability of americans, aging americans, boomer americans to retirement. Well, thats been the problem. And it all started with the lower Interest Rates because if you have all of this retirement money, and you dont want to take the kind of risk of being in the markets, and youre expecting 8 yield on your assets and youre not getting it, you have a big problem there and a lot of Older Americans going back to work to meet the gap. Now children coming out of college or children that didnt go to college, and theyre trying to get jobs and wages up and the problem is theyre competing with their parents generation that are still looking for jobs. So now youve got two sides looking for jobs, if im an employer its, like, hey, what do i have to raise my wages for. So thats a big problem. Gerri big problem in the economy and heres what people say theyre willing to sacrifice for their kids. Retire later as we say, take a less secure retirement, save less, take on debt, always bad, and withdrawal from savings. Look, at some point your kids have to fend for themselves, dont they . You know, its funny. I had this conversation with my friends with their children. When i was young, i left the house, i went to wall street, and i worked, and i rented my apartment, and i worked hard. Todays generation doesnt have those opportunities because of the regulations that companies have. Because of the competition for jobs like i mentioned to you before. And the problem is that with this kind of economy where theres too much uncertainty and corporations even though their earnings look great, its only because they cut expenses. What are these young people supposed to do . Gerri totally. So their parents are looking at them saying wait a minute, youre not better off like i was in my generation, so im helping you. So theyre looking at their assets. Gerri heres what theyre actually doing. 42 financial problems caused by dead, 33 difficulties achieving financial independents, and 26 insufficient or lack of employment. So these are the issues they say are causing them to help their kids. Uhhuh. Gerri and you talk to these kids, which i did yesterday on these very numbers and theyre, like, oh, please, dont turn off the taps because this money doesnt go to me, it goes to our kids. Exactly. Gerri so its a intergenerational problem and i think behind all of this is really a economy that cant grow. We cant get all o out of our own way thats going to give millennials jobs and on and on. And you look at the numbers up there, those are high numbers, high percentages, which shows you the government numbers were being told of employment and unemployment, theyre false because look whats happening here and this older generation is looking at their kids like i said that dont have the opportunity, and theyre trying to give them a jumpstart. Help them get out of debt, help them start a business, help them for a Job Interview and they cant seem to make it right so the older generation helping their children saying instead of my money getting zero, im going to invest in my kid because hopefully theyll take care of me when im really a lot older, and i need it. Gerri now youre making a good point because they think thats the better investment. I dont trust the market, im not sure what to make of it. So instead im going to invest in the next generation. Yeah, it makes sense because theyre living longer, life longevity now and theyre worried that when they plan for retirement because i used to do Financial Planning years ago. You map out a certain rate of return, certain date of retirement and how much your expected life is and how much money youre going to need each other justified for inflation. Those monies are totally out the window when Federal Reserve Interest Rates are zero, those numbers are gone. Gerri yeah, fed policies have hurt nobody more than retirees everywhere. Gerri saviors. Remember saving . That was such a great thing. Dan, were going to have to leave it there. Thank you so much for coming on. Calibrate to see you. Merry christmas. Merry christmas. Gerri and still to come. Heading to a Christmas Party tomorrow or looking to buy something other than champagne . Look at this, my friends. We have the best and most popular holiday drinks. Gerri the weather is well, its all over the place these days bringing springlike warmth to the northeast. Tornadoes in the south and snow in the west. In fact, here in new york city its expected to be close to 70 degrees on christmas day. That is warmer than even los angeles. Rick joins us from the Weather Center. Rick, whats going on my friend . By close you mean more than; right . Higher than 70. Do you want wet and rainy christmas or cold and snowy . Gerri warm, warm, warm. Youve got it. Youve got warm and also along with it rainy and a lot of airport delays around new york city into philadelphia over towards chicago back towards minneapolis and there will be trickle down effect from that certainly. So rough times across the airports. Heres the warmth. You can see that in place right now. Its going to stay that way getting warmer tomorrow across eastern seaboard. It will be warmer out west. Take a look at that. 62 in phoenix, 61 in cleveland, that doesnt make sense at all. But along with this warmth today were watching some really significant Severe Weather and potentially the worse weve seen all year long for tornadoes. And we have tornado watches in effect here across the midmississippi river valley up to the ohio river valley but this one right here down across parts of mississippi and tennessee is called a potentially dangerous situation. Means to potentially large and longlasting tornadoes. Thats what were going to watch, and its going to go into the overnight hours tonight. So when its dark and you dont have your general plan in place, you need to be thinking about that right now because these storms while theyre severe right now, likely turn tornado in just a couple of hours here and thats going to be the bulls eye. The storm center issued this moderate risk thats very, very high for us here and where you see all of this, that is where were going to be looking at that threat for the tornadoes i want to. A rough one. Yeah, its warm out there but this is a april system, gerri, and here we are two days before christmas with what a lot of people get in the south when you get the big tornado up take break. Gerri i need to know. Is this going to be in january . Can we keep this. I wish we could as well. You live here for a while, should have cold ones. Ill take some warm winters. The pattern for a while remains warmer. It looks like around the new year were going to get some cold air in here and then maybe it warms up a little bit again. So, no, signs of long lasting cold air coming in across the northeast at this point. Gerri fingers crossed, my friend. Thank you for that, sir. Sure. Gerri youre one of those last minute shoppers; right . Well, you still have time to get a great gift for loved ones, at least if theyre over the age of wine. Here with the drinkers guide and advice on picking the perfect bottle. Chris adams, ceo of larry sheeman right here in new york city. I know youve seen them. Theyre a great store. You know, we were talking about weather. Yes. Gerri and i was wondering if that has impacted what people are buying. It has. You know, we saw earlier in the month a huge interest in rosea champagne, thats always popular champagne this time of year but for us to still have rosea wine from italy, increasing in popular later. It is the weather because if its 50, 60 degrees out, youre not getting the reds gerri still with the light, pink wine. Interesting. So what are people gravitating towards now and what do you recommend . Right now it is the season for champagne, its been that story for a few years now. Weve had a lot of interest and its a terrific bellwether for the economy. So if champagne sales are good, we tend to feel like its going to be a good season, its been good. So thats terrific. The other thing weve had a lot of interest with respect to red wine this year is italy from the great 2017 gerri i love italian wine. What part of the country is that from . At us connie and a delicious wine the what i like about it is theres a scale. You can participate at a modest end or go high end, and you can drink it young or age it. Gerri what else do you have here . Opus one from california. Gerri this is heavy duty. This is the heavy duty one. This is 275 a bottle. Gerri so this is the special guest. This is the special gift for special someone 2012 out in northern california, napa and 2013 as well. So two vintages to watch from napa. And as i mention the warmer weather, this is the benchmark from new zealand where weve had a lot of interest as well gerri cloudy bay has been popular for a long time. It has been. Its referred to by a lot of people to put in new zealand on the map. Gerri uhhuh. And its terrific. They harvest in the springs so we can have the most vintage on the shelf, great bouquet. Gerri all right. Coming in 2016, what are you seeing for the future here . I want to think ahead a little bit. Well, what we have in europe right now is 2015 vintage that is being heralded as terrific. Gerri what is that . So in the next year or two come on the shelves in American Stores whether its in france or italy, weve seen in champagne in it was a terrific harvest over there. Gerri was it great weather . What happened . It was great weather and certain parts of the season i need to have great weather when the flowering and the fruit set and the harvest, conditions were really awesom. Gerri going to be some good buying opportunities out there. Youre going to find terrific bottles that maybe they werent always that great about now it will be terrific. It will be a nice time. Absolutely. And the other thing well keep into the new year is spirits. This is sipping atta keel a, finding huge interest. Gerri sipping tequila, that sounds so dangerous. It does, and it is. Especially this time of year. Gerri is there a worm in the bottle . It does not. Gerri people dont do that anymore . You dont see that often anymore. I hear a lot about that but i dont see it anymore. Artisanal spirits. Gerri great job. Great to meet you. And it wont be a hard days nights for beetles fans.
