John the immigration comments you would think would turn off latinos and minorities. You pointed out more blacks and hispanics voted for trump than voted for romney. I dont identify as a progressive. I consider myself a centrist democrat. John all the progressive democrats consider themselves centrists. Where they pushed Hillary Clinton in the end is not where i am naturally planted. The platform did not speak to me. It was an exaggerated version of things i believe. The idea that the constitution is not a living, breathing document which is what a lot of strict constitutionalists believe is extremely disturbing to me. It means women dont have the right to vote or the right to choose. But they can be rolled back. We talked about this before. Just thinking about abortion. The idea that my rights in texas could be different than my rights in california. We are one nation under god, is fundamentally disturning. You were just praising the states rights to choose the right to die. But im a constitutionalist. I love the fact that donald trump won. We have the possibility toll shape the court for a generation. I think thats very profound and important. I think we need more justices like Clarence Thomas, people who respect the constitution. John he does not seem to be a friend of the First Amendment. He sues people to shut them up. He says he will change the libel laws. When the New York Times writes a hit piece thats a total disgrace, he will sue people like you have never seen before. If you look at Clarence Thomas and justice kennedy, thats a little bit different than scalia. There was a mix of more libertarians. There were civil liberty libertarians.
