Nasdaq up 83 and s p up 23 points. Welcome welcome to risk and reward im elizabeth macdonald. After increased scrutiny that the Department Said scrutiny says it didnt do enough. The chief defended the attempt to keep the two groups protesting in charlottesville apart saying it took an hour to gain control of the streets. This as democrats and the media pounced on the president s initial comments saturday right after the deadly attack in charlottesville where white supremacist groups clashed with foreign left groups in charlottesville, virginia. That happened on saturday. One person dead, 36 injured. 19 by a car that was plowed into a crowd. Were going to get to that in a moment. The media criticizing the president for not specifically condemning white supremacist by name on saturday. The president s comments came before the driver did fill out his car into the crowd. He killed one and injured at least 19. But this afternoon, President Trump told the American People in no Uncertain Terms, racism of any kind is evil and unacceptable. Now, 20yearold james alex fields jr. He is from kentucky. Hes accused of ramming his car deliberately into that group of protesters. He has been charged with seconddegree murder. He faces five to 40 years in prison. He has denied bail. The feds are investigating whether he had help planning this attack. Lets get to kevin, hes live from the white house with the latest. Kevin. Great summation there, and youre right. No Uncertain Terms. The president making a forceful denouncation not just of white supremacist but all hate groups, especially that rocked charlottesville over the weekend that led to the death of one person and multiple injuries along the way. The president in no Uncertain Terms in his comments today right here at the white house says racism, hatred, and bigotry have no place in america. Trump as i have said many times before, no matter the color of our skin, we all live under the same laws. We all salute the same, great flag, and we are all made by the same almighty god. We must love each other, show affection for each other, and unite together in condemnation of hatred, bigotry, and violence. We must rediscover the bonds of love and loyalty that bring us together. Did you hear that word . Bring us together. Thats what this really is all about. The president s statement coming after being harshly criticized for not being forceful enough and indeed not being specific in his coming up next of white supremacist. Today his attorney general Jeff Sessions and fbi director Christopher Ray met with the president to update him on the investigation. You heard jeffizations say you can be sure that the department of justice and this administration is going to take the most vigorous action to protect the rights of people, especially those like the young woman just 32 years old, the victim of that wayward vehicle that you saw there driven allegedly by the suspect from the state of kentucky. I should also point this out. I think youll find this important, the 32yearold will be remembered at a Memorial Service wednesday at 11 00 a. M. At Paramount Theatre in charlottesville. Attendees are asked to wear something purple, and a lot of folks will be wearing purple as well in support of that young woman. Back to you. Liz good to see you, kevin. Thanks so much. My pleasure. Liz kevin just reported President Trump making his most forceful comments yet about the attack in charlottesville. Lets take a look again. To anyone who acted criminally in this weekends racist violence, you will be held fully accountable. Justice will be delivered. We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence. It has no place in america. Liz with me now, former Trump National diversity and commentator, wendy. Did the president the president do enough to shut down his critics . Absolutely he did. He denounced it, he broke it down one, two, three, abc, so that it was unequivocally understood that he is denouncing hatred of all kinds. Bigotry of all kinds. So i think that he made it clear that he is the president of the United States of every american, and i believe what he did today was important. It was important, and i believe that a lot of people are now, again, standing by him tall without fear. Liz wendy, im going to get you in a second. But i want to come back to burnell. Saying his base is angry why voters are act like like that for the protest groups there that basically that was basically a trump rally. Thats not true. Absolutely false. The core voters for donald trump were all americans across the spectrum. And the people down in charlottesville are just a minuscule, tiny part of america. They are not Trump Supporters that espoused love and freedom and wanting to unity this nation. We are not about division. And so i would say thats very false. We want our nation to be strong and together and united as our president stated today in the press conference. Liz you know, wendy, here at fox business and fox news, we cover domestic terrorism including white supremacist terror attacks. Weve been covering it. Of course radical islamic terrorism. Heres what the g ao has found since 9 11. 62 far right violent extremist attacks killing 106. 23 radical islamist attacks killing 119. It does not include the 2017 attacks. Wendy, are you satisfied that President Trump does not support white supremacist . Well, thats not what he said, really. It wasnt until we pushed him to make the statement. In times of pain, despair and liz has he ever said that he supports white supremacist. He never said that, but it has taken him a long time to rebuke it. So quite frankly, when at times of pain, despair, and treacheriy, leaders rise to the occasion. And not only did the president miss the mark here, and win his first Major National crisis, it was a slap in the face to the american who really in a time of turmoil and was a pat on the back to white nationalist. He had the platform to say unequivocally than the only does the neonazis, the kkk, white supremacist, do they not align with what is conservative, they not only align with what is republican. He had that platform. But instead, it took him 48 hours to come out and use these unequivocal terms. So it shows that he does not have the moral aptitude needed to serve this country. Liz hang on, wendy. I hear what youre saying. Wendy is saying what donald trump essentially said today, he should have said it saturday. Whats your response . He did say it saturday. No, he did not. Excuse me, yes, he did. Liz let her finish. He never said neonazis, he never said kk request k, he never said white supremacist. Liz hang on a second. Let her respond, and ill give you your chance. Thank you very much. He said hatred, bigotry of all kinds, and thats on the left and on the right. He is not going to allow any hate group to stick its chest out and say, hey, he condemned one and not the other. Liz do you feel like he misspoke initially when he said many, many sides . I dont think he misspoke. I think there were many sides down there of hate. Extreme hate. And you know what . Its not laughable. The hurt going on in our country, the people that are suffering in this economy, its not funny. This is a small distraction. These people are minuscule. Theyre extremists. The extremists. If you would stop talking and listen. Im not going to stop talking. I dont need to learn anything. I have a ph. D. What degree do you have . Excuse me. [all three are talking over each other] liz wendy, go ahead. Speak. What i have to say is he did not say that. Thats why he had a press conference today. If he said it liz weve got to move on. Quitting manufacturing counsel because of President Trumps initial response to the Charlottesville Protests and the killing and the injuries there. Heres what the president said. He tweeted out quote now that kentucky frazier of merc has resigned from the president S Manufacturing counsel, he will have more time to lower ripoff drug prices. Shouldnt ceos stay at the table to fight for their own view . Absolutely. And so many of our young people, he is an africanamerican man and so many of our young people need someone to look up to, and i think that its important that we as africanamericans do come to the table and stay at the table to make sure that not only this who are poor in our community but also our middle class are represented that their needs are met. So i think that hopefully theyll be able to work it out and maybe theyll be able to come back to the table. But i do believe its important that we had people of color at the table. Yes, i do. Liz wendy, come in on this. What are your thoughts. Morality supersedes people of color at the table. He felt as though what the president did this weekend did not align to his vision to not align to his moral thought process, so he left the table. I tip my hat to anyone who says you know what . I do not agree with these philosophies. I do not agree with these principles, and therefore i have to walk away. And i think that should be commented. Liz theres no what ken frazier did. It seems he took it upon himself to move the entire company away from thely table. Well, he took it upon himself to remove himself from the table, but he represents the board. Represents that organization. By all means, they could have another replacement, if thats what they choose to do. But at the time, he felt liz , you know what i mean . The old saying if youre not at the table, youre on the menu; right . Go ahead. Absolutely. What i will say is that as a leader in life, there are going to be times that you have to walk along. There will be times that you will have to make a decision. But in a state and situation that our economy is, our young people, especially inner cities, they need leaders that are going to be able to walk through liz hang on a second. What are you talking about . Liz wendy, let her speak, and well come to you in a second. It has a lot to do with the inner cities because a lot of these companies are signed up to do have to variable programs to help those who are in poorer neighborhoods. So its very important that people who have it, that you do give back, and i think its important for us, again, like i said to be at the table, to be able to give back. So many people are depending on us to stay here and help our president. Liz final word, wendy, and then we have to go. I disagree with that. The president has used the inner cities as a strawmen. He talked about chicago, he talked about my city of baltimore all throughout his president ial campaign. Now hes in office, and he has done nothing. So you using the inner city again as a token is another report to say people just using these terms. Liz you raised an argument. You have to answer. Did the president fail baltimore and the inner cities . Absolutely not. What he has oh, absolutely. You had it right the first time. What health care . We have an Opioid Crisis in maryland. Please. I let you talk. I let you talk. I believe that the president has been going day by day working on the issues and the promises that he made to the American People, and i believe the million jobs that are in this country right now that our country that our president brought about will help the inner cities and help americans as a whole. Thats liz we want you both back on. Guys, youre terrific. Really passionate. We love it. Come back soon. Youre both terrific. Thanks again. This as north korea staterun newspaper saying its leader kim jongun that the revolutionary army according to the leader is on standby waiting for an order of final attack on the u. S. And now this secretary of state Rex Tillerson and defense secretary james mattis, they both wrote an oped in the wall street journal that said the u. S. Wants a quote peaceful Pressure Campaign of denuclearization of the korean peninsula, not regime change and that the two have no desire the u. S. Has no desire to inflict harm on the longsuffering north korean people. Lets bring in retired Lieutenant Colonel ralph peters. Good to see you, colonel. Great to see you, liz. Liz is north korea doing a head fake here to get economic benefits . Well, theres no question about the fact that north korea has an economy thats almost gone. But nonetheless, i take the threat very, very seriously. I mean, right today, the north koreans are spotting off 90 bluster, 10 real threat. But the ratio is changing against us every single day. But a few years down the road is unobstructed, they will have a Serious Nuclear arsenal. But that said, something good did happen overnight. Potentially good. And thats the chinese at last said, yes, they will impose strict sanctions on north korea, halt the imports of coal, iron ore, other ores, north korean seafood, which doesnt sound particularly good to me anyway. But if they really follow through, that will really pressure the north korean economy. The problems are two fold. One, the chinese arent going to do anything that really threatens regime change. They wont stabilize the regime. And two, they will sucker for it again. Because the reason the chinese are talking serious cooperation is because President Trump and his relevant cabinet officers have finally gotten serious about pursuing the chinese theft and extortion of u. S. Intellectual property. And, by the way, in my view and nobody knows the exact numbers. Thats probably the greatest economic highest in all of history. Makes Bernie Madoff look like three card money down on the corner. So the fact that the president s getting serious with that is one that thing terrifies china. Because theyve been getting away with certainly economic murder, and we focus on the trade deficit. But the real longterm danger is stealing the secrets we spent hundreds of billions of dollars on the r d, you know very well and china steals the information or forces u. S. Corporations to share their trade secrets as it were in order to do business in china. So as you know too, im not the worlds biggest fan of the Trump Administration. But getting tough with china on intellectual property theft, to me, is one of the greatest things the greatest thing, perhaps, the administrations done so far. Liz yeah, taking in sitting in taking notice over china. If north korea were to shoot those missiles into the waters of guam, how would the u. S. React . And, by the way, north korea has threatened this doing just that in the past. Go ahead. Well, if they launch missiles toward guam, the real danger is that the north korean missiles at this point are so inaccurate, they could be aiming 100 miles east or west of guam and hit guam by accident. Now, theyre not Nuclear Missiles, theyre probably going to break up on reentry, although they have good range. But if one were to hit somehow, were to hit american territory, we would be forced to respond. You dont get a doover when you land when shells or missiles land on United States soil and the territory of guam is considered United States soil. So this is one of those things that could spin out of control by accident if the north koreans overestimate their capabilities. And, by the way, liz, you always hear people in washington say, well, kim jongun, hes irrational. He may be as rational as you are, but he may have an information deficit. And my real worry is that his generals are terrified of him. He kills people. Hes killed his brother, his uncle. They may not be telling him how weak their capabilities really are and how strong ours are, and that could trigger something as well. So plenty to worry about. But by god if President Trump doesnt let up, if he keeps the pressure on the chinese, on the intellectual property and other trade issues, that is the one hope we have for china cracking down on north korea and bringing us
