morning. judge andrew napolitano is andrew napolitano at this pic from house speaker newt gingrich. democratic national convention chairwoman congressman debbie wasserman schultz here in the studio. alan gross, former u.s. government subcontract your and execute a prisoner. you don't want to miss this interview is a must to stay with us to the top story of the morning. donald trump headed to washington to meet with nearly two dozen top republican leaders and fun registers in an effort to improve relationships with the establishment of comedian is more than 100 delegates are up for grabs in both the arizona primary and utah tomorrow. joining us now is the "washington times" reporter, kelley rebelled. did he see you. thanks for joining us. >> how important are arizona and utah and who has the most to gain here? let's talk about tomorrow's big contest. >> i think your dad cruise with the most to gain in the most to lose here. the willingness to pull off a big dreamy time it to get about the 50% threshold so he gets all the delegates. you could see john kasich been a spoiler. ted cruz is betting his money and utah. you also saw him change his schedule yesterday and take a surprise trip to arizona. what that might mean is our internal polling puts him closer within striking distance of donald trump expected to take this day. >> that's interesting. this contest become increasingly important. every single contest for ted cruz. >> no doubt about it. one thing with the crew's campaign if they are confident they will win arizona on election day. that speaks to the real advantage donald trump has. the early voting has been massive. if cruz cannot just win on election day that you got a one-day victory in arizona, he builds his case moving forward. >> even now dagen mcdowell, donald trump has been victorious at most victorious at muster publicans, the cruz campaign tells that they have a clear path that he does well with the contest. dagen: greases passes to take it to a contested convention. he's got to win more than 80% of the remaining delegates to get to 1237 highly unlikely compared to 57% for trump. over the weekend you heard the head of the republican party essentially saying that they are preparing. >> when they bring that to you. runs through the strain meant on a minor features and basically exactly that he's paired to run an historically transparent convention. watch this. >> with candidates that have attacked to the majority of delegates before cleveland. but if that doesn't happen, obviously we will be prepared to run the most open and transparent open convention in the history of our party. maria: there you go. they are taking steps to expect this. >> that's a shift from his tone earlier this month when he was talking about it being highly unlikely was one of the phrases they use. i just don't know how that goes over with voters. such a divide with the republican party. that doesn't meant the fissures in the party. maria: kelley, what do you think about that? >> l. trump has the possibility of putting this out right and we shouldn't cut them out and in the contest will see his path forward. if there is a contested convention, donald trump is preparing for that as well, go into all of these delegates uncommitted. about 322 of them. if it goes to the second ballot in the party insiders start shenanigans in terms of naming it a party or somebody who hasn't run in his primaries, the republican party has no problems going forward. >> have you ever seen this backlash to a candidate? you're among those pushing back. >> there's many reasons donald is a unique candidate. we were talking about utah earlier. poland has showed from yesterday that donald trump as a nominee could lose you talk about the muster publicans did in the union. a recent summit leaders and senate candidates and house candidates are nervous about what it would mean. >> certainly see the establishment label donald trump and they go after his past policies which are very liberal. one of the things we haven't talked about is where is that i'm going to get another win? he is hoping on an open convention. there is no path for him. he's mathematically eliminated. >> you talked about 83% cruise. 112 remaining delegates. >> and is also banking on it will change. you have to win at least eight states in order to be on the first ballot. he is hoping for a grocery convention that will change qualifies him. if that law, bob shaw. >> is basically saying i'm in this to be vice president. >> enough right now he says no. we've got a taken at his word right now. you'd be smarter if you got out. >> with talk about this violence for a second that donald trump sister. receiving a threatening letter one day after his son from arab trump received a suspicious letter with white powder inside. all of this is my violence broke out in arizona during an event over the weekend. things are continuing to escalate, kelley. how does this change the situation? >> i don't think it changes much for core supporters. the more he rises, the more threats i'm afraid he's going to receive. he is testing the parties bound. it's testing the american populace. he's a very polarizing figure. it's a terrible situation. or his supporters who see them rally around him some more and not flake off. dagen: in terms that the the interruptions of these protests at his event, not his fault. i'm sorry. i don't care how many times people point fingers at him. one day he can do and speaks about his daughter, i thought i was saying. he can change how he acts and now he particularly asked on twitter. step back. stop taking shots at people who frankly don't battery.patch to his presidential campaign. >> not only on twitter, but at the event he can say remove this person or be like we can hear your voice their objections later. does they go home to mommy. >> at the event they do start saying if you do see a protester, if someone starts yelling, we will piece fully remove them. so he is making now is in residence areas. >> i would ask our those being perceived at those events? is it like getting on the airplane and not listening to the safety announcements are not paying attention to the code of conduct. >> people are listening to does. this was last week after the chicago protest what they say everyone should calm down. one cannot enter chomp, chomp, u.s.a. umbilicus security officials to move them. please don't they hand on them. that is going on. protesters want to be forcibly removed. they want to sneak in, take their shirts off in protest and then they have to be removed from this event. this is not donald trump's fault as much as it is protesters. we have to respect the size. besides. >> audit your take on the upcoming third because president obama and historic three-day trip to cuba. the trip is not coming without controversy. hours before the president touched on a mandate, cuban authorities arrested more than 50 protesters. they were marching to demand better human rights. critics calling a role of castro or not grading the president upon his arrival. your thoughts about the cuban trip. do you view this as a big step for u.s. relations with cuba or what is the point? >> it can be. first there needs to be more economic transparency and provisions for u.s. companies. it's very hard to change cuba if a u.s. company cap u.s. company cap down an investment property or enter where they don't have majority stakeholder should. these things have to change for real progress to be made. this looks great on the surface, but i see no the more being jailed in cuba, changes in coming and will castro wasn't there to meet the president. on the face of that, that was an insult. maria: what you think about this? and that's what is troubling for a lot of republicans isn't necessarily the opening to cuba. and this speaks to a donald trump's candidacy is about. it's been a weakness to extract anything from cuba. the president is called roel castro is a good give you everything you bought. we don't pay much in return except that had minds. >> seems like the iran deal. he is continuously done this in relations with nations that have been aggressive towards us. i understand taking a small step to make some change. we know there is regime change over there. the casters are getting older and we have seen a path. maria: is that the excuse for him not showing up to the airport? >> possibly. it is unfortunate but it is a small step so hopefully there can be big leagues after the administration is. >> what is the point of him not showing up? does he not want to have better relations? >> i think raul castro showed up to greet the pope when he arrived in the nation and didn't show up to greater and president. >> he's tried to show a sign of strength. >> why are we there? why the confessions? why normalizing relations that is the family didn't get anything in return. thus i guarantee you they want to give guantánamo bay back to cuba. maria: cannot regard it does sound like iran. getting nothing but. >> potential nuclear weapons. >> look at what america did so far, what is at cuba. he was on a cuban comedian show. he's campaigning in cuba the way he campaigns in the united states the united states instead of hard-hitting interviews, obviously not a lot of journalists in cuba. trying to be the cool president of popular guys always. >> goes back to his legacy. when the cart on chowdhury was elected in 2008 instead of addressing the economy he did the affordable care act. he wanted the label obamacare. maria: very similar. kelley, thank you. see you soon. as the president continues to historic trip to cuba, the communist government crackdown on protesters. the >> i said that i would ender judgment at the end of it because i'm hopeful something productive and positive can come out, this first day was discouraging. just hours the ladies in white, prominent opposition group in cuba, all woman were harassed in the streets of havana while they were peacefully demonstrated. just a couple of days ago nine cubans died trying to leave the island and make it to the united states meanwhile the president lands for what appears to be, from the images a family vacation in a nation where there are no human rights, where people are rotting away in political prisons. some of the images were disconcerning. maria: no human rights, prisoners are still being held, we are not getting anything out of it. the talk on this set congressman was the fact that this is a trip, like you said, a family vacation for the president and once again the u.s. is on the losing end of this. >> and that is the key question, what can the united states finally, if anything, get in terms of concessions from the cuban government. the list of what we've given is quite long, everything from full diplomatic relations to easying of sanctions to delisting from the safe sponsors of terror, meanwhile the cuban government is harboring fugitives, cop killer, men responsible for the death of american citizens, the cuban government is still responsible for the greatest theft of american property in the history of our country, $7 billion. they're not talking about repaying any of that. they're just asking for more, they want gitmo. i asked the white house in a conversation a couple of weeks ago, look, i disagree with the trip but now that you're going, let's get something for u.s. national security interest out of this, up to now nothing, just some pictures in a rainy havana sunday. kevin: what is the one thing you would like to see the president come back with or get done? if we lived in a perfect world and if he could get one thing, what would it be? >> first national security interest. there are dozen of medicare frosters, they defrauded medicare, millions of dollars, those people are sitting in havana today. why couldn't the first step would be that the cuban government would return those people to face american justice. being a cuban american, i would like to see some improvement on the island, president obama said he would not travel to cuba until there was some substantial improvement in the human rights situation, that has not happened yesterday. he is there. so those are two just basic priorities that i hope we could get out of it. maria: he said that he would not go until doug high, until we saw a change in human rights and obviously we haven't. what is the point of this? >> it's all about barack obama's legacy and he goes down in history as the person who opened up cuba. this is the last gasp of the cold war, a cold war that we won but we are giving the last battle away, folded our cards completely. dagen: it's the photo ops, he is hoping that outweighs the fugitives, the cop killer not being returned who are fugitives from justice, among other problems. >> so obama is getting what he wants, problem is all the things that we take for granted that we can do on our phone, the cuban people can't do. kevin: taxpayers' dollars to do this and $150 billion to iran, and north korea, they want some money, now cuba is wanting more money from us. maria: that's what is empowering donald trump. this narrative of violence, okay, more riots in tucson, arizona. donald's sister received a threatening letter just days after eric trump received a threatening lerd. what's -- letter, what's your take? are you going to meet with donald trump? >> i was not invited to that meeting and i'm not surprised and i'm kind of glad. i supported jeb bush and marco rubio and now i'm just taking a breath and trying to see where all this ends up but the violence is totally unacceptable and from both sides. you have some of the professional protesters that are going to events and insight violence and then on the other side you have donald trump to refuses to condemn violence at the very least should be telling supporters, this type of third-world conduct is unbecoming of american citizen and it's something that people all over the world, much less in our country should be watching on television. so i really put it on both sides, donald trump has repeatedly refused to ask his supporters to stay calm at rallies, to not punch people in the face as he's encouraged them to do thries on one occasion, that's why a lot of republicans like me are looking forward really to the possibility of an open convention where we can truly nominate the best candidate to face off against hillary clinton in the fall. >> congressman, doug, i want to ask what your members are saying in the republican conference meetings tuesday and wednesday morning, what are folks saying to their colleagues in these meetings about what direction they want to see the party go and how is that affecting what you're trying to do with the budget and all the issues that house republicans are trying to move forward with the legislative agenda? >> well, there's a lot of frustration that the conservative message, conservative agenda has been hijacked by this populism. in many ways, i think, this is a result of seven years of opposition to president obama without a clear concise conservative agenda. that's exactly what paul ryan is trying to change. he's trying to make this about ideas, our policy proposals. that's why we are going to be rolling out within the next couple of months, five policy agenda goals with clear ideas specific ideas for the american people to evaluate in the next election. this is something that's been lacking for many years. for many years republicans were content sitting back and watching the president and his party trip and the vacuum of power of leadership and of ideas was created and we are seeing the results of thain this presidential election. maria: all right, congressman, good to have you this morning, sir. we want to bring breaking news. marriot valuing star weapon wood at $13.6 billion. superior to the bid from a group of chinese companies starwood shares up about 3% right now. starwood, marriot already in the deal. raising the offer for starwood after the chinese group of companies, insurance group of companies tried to break up the deal and acquire starwood, really a little hostile situation going on in this hotel industry. kevin: there was a 400 million-dollar breakup fee. it's a big directive for them. i mean, they've acquired brand already. they're going across the globe. marriott already had this in the bag. it's pretty telling what's happening across the space. >> this also speaks to cuba. maria: three hotels in cuba. >> we obviously know that if you're an american property and you own in the past, this is all tieing together. maria: really interesting stuff. that's a great point, doug. thank you, we will take a short break. paris terrorist system says he plans more attacks and vow to go sue french prosecutors, she wants to sue, his swrowt ragous reasoning next. a mall easter bunny with a brawl. you have to see this one.
