further the economy if everyone is buying a used car and having a blockbuster quarters that good? >> i think people of feeling confident enough to buy used but not new. there's a bad side to the economy, or maybe americans are held getting smarter and don't realize -- don't think they need the latest model. melissa: how you interpreted? >> i have a different opinion. i actually think what is interesting to note here is car sales are pretty big component of inflation so when we have the next c t i reading going forward this will be interesting, dovetailing back to what we saw a couple days ago. this could be a sign the economy is a little healthier, we're seeing more inflation. you don't buy that. melissa: it is so nice. >> going forward you have to look at j.d. power came out with their comments a new cars are actually not so great anymore. it used to be the nuts and bolts, they are not doing as great. they are not. with our maps they have a great model. the idea you're going in and don't have to haggle over the price and the warranties and service they are offering, big reason the company is doing well. melissa: sparks flying in capital will as the irs commissioner takes the stand to explain two years of lost e-mails. >> i don't think an apology is no. there is not a single e-mail lost since the start of this investigation. every e-mail has been preserved that we have. we have produced a will produce by the end of this -- >> you don't think the time period between january of 2009 and april of 2011 is relevant to this investigation? >> it is relevant. melissa: tax returns, they can go back 20 years on those that can't find a few e-mails. >> i have a really great solution for the irs. there's one part of the government fantastic and technology, the nsa. you could hire the nsa, problems all. melissa: you are not the first to think of that. that is an obvious solution. >> they are wasting time on this discussion. everybody is under subpoena right now and obviously committing perjury if they are lying about this. let's go forward with the investigation. melissa: of the e-mails are gone they are gone. no e-mails are ever gone. >> bring in some i t specialists. melissa: this is smoke from the oil refinery, insurgents seized the plant earlier this week as president obama plans to spend 300 military advisers to the region. and smoke billowing out of that. what does this mean? how serious is this? >> the price of oil ratchet up, brent crude and w. t. i, and in the last couple weeks, probably stays elevated and that is a risk to the global economy but of course the real risks, the intermediation between shia, sunni and northern area of the kurds. melissa: that means everyone is smart and targeting the assets and they're going to make it count any will be painful for the rest of us. >> look, look at this. can dollar increase in the price of dollars of crude oil, it is an% of global growth. and the global growth to 2.8%. melissa: we are talking about the money aspect, the show is called money. what do you think? >> big money to be made for the kurds because that took over one of the facilities. and not to mention some investors and the foreseeable future. melissa: activist investor carl icahn saying family dollar should put itself up for sale immediately. warning that if the company doesn't come he will try to throw out the entire board of directors. nothing like throwing up molotov cocktail. >> it is interesting. a lot of big investors, another hedge fund guy, and what does that mean for the future of america? are they seeing a more depressed american future needs to stop these dollars? walmart are expanding as well. melissa: you say no? >> the reason carl icahn is doing this is the company grew too fast too soon. they had 2,000 employees adding 2,000 stores nationwide and the stock has lagged. >> i take play with that. they followed the s&p over the last five years performancewise but compared to its peers, it has not performed so uncle carl sees an opportunity here and i think he will execute well on this one. melissa: starbucks program is not as sweet as originally founded. the coffee chain doesn't actually contribute any money upfront to the scholarship. this is arizona state university michael crow saying they are actually putting any money into this, charging starbucks workers, discounted price and they think the remainder will likely be covered by federal aid. they came out, you got to be careful when you harold's these things, great that they get a discount to go to school on line but starbucks not the hero -- >> turning out not to be a great press story. we will see how many starbucks employees take up this program but it kind of makes me nervous because some of these kids may -- however old they are -- may start to go to school and may not finish these degrees. now they're taking federal loans and are in low-wage jobs. i don't think this is a good pattern. melissa: is not easy to get federal loans. it is not -- maybe they end of taking -- >> another no cost benefit starbucks is giving its employees, showing they care about their employees. the employee has the right, don't need to go to college and take out the loans. i am for starbucks. melissa: it is a pr campaign that is backfiring. when we originally did this there was someone who said i don't think starbucks is putting any money into this. they made a deal with arizona state and just getting the p r out of it and that turned out to be exactly the case. >> howard schultz always wanted to seem a little bit altruistic. always wanted to treat his employees a little bit better than other similarly situated retail outlets. this is another way for him to get pr over top of that. it is obvious he won't put his dollars where his mouth is. melissa: it definitely backfired. should bonny yogurt company sued for tricking customers about the health benefits and now they come after them saying it is not as healthy as they said. apparently the products and 16 grams of sugar which is the same as nestle fudge ice-cream bar. >> it is good. melissa: reading the labels also am surprised by anything, i look at the labels. >> it turns out the evaporated juice in it, actually that is not juice at all. it is the same as sugar, a nice way of saying sugar, beautiful. >> the irony here is two days ago the u.s. department of agriculture actually decided they would put the yogurt in seven school district so we have this very different opinion from the u.s. department of agriculture and i hope the judge in this case has a good sense of humor. melissa: part of a lawsuit. >> the yogurt there is nothing greek about the yogurt. this is silly like suing mcdonald's. come john. melissa: thanks, guys. coming up, call him the justin bieber of bonds, donning shades and putting them in canada on reporters. love is in the air and finding its way to wall street. gordon gecko would be horrified. more money coming up. when folks think about what they get from alaska, they think salmon and energy. but the energy bp produces up here creates something else as well: jobs all over america. engineering and innovation jobs. advanced safety systems & technology. shipping and manufacturing. across the united states, bp supports more than a quarter million jobs. when we set up operation in one part of the country, people in other parts go to work. that's not a coincidence. it's one more part of our commitment to america. melissa: the love affair on wall street resources they they are developing what a run it now, jeff springer bought the stock exchange last year and bob greifeld developing a close relationship. they are planning -- we made fun of it before -- melissa: a to vegas together. >> a serious side to this story, market structure, you will find what you are going to see is he and i always mispronounce his name -- bob greifeld working together on common goals like market structure. both of these guys are worried about the fragmentation of the markets. many, many exchanges known as dark rules established taking business and transparency away from the market. they are going to fight that and this is where you will see this relationship because they're pretty tight and they did try to mount a hostile takeover for the stock exchange in 2010. the fox business network was first to report that so there is some history there. it is getting tighter and you will be interesting watching these guys work together when reality bob greifeld and duncan neiderauer could barely in the same room together and as competitive as they do common goals, market structure is a huge common goal. melissa: what do you make of this? >> it is interesting because these two guys are at odds with each other as competitors, it does help the market and these guys collude and eliminate these outside players. the only thing to keep in mind is you have this collusion, mergers in the company space outside the markets, it does hurt the consumer so it is good to have some competitors out there but initially it will improve the system, something i think is worth pursuing. >> maybe we will see a merger from the stock exchange to the nasdaq. melissa: that is where i thought you going. i want to move to one of my favorite stories of the day, you better believe it. the bond king himself tiger woods has the sunglasses on, not exactly endearing. >> not like to walk on stage in his underwear. he put glasses on. melissa: he calls himself -- >> he wrote that letter to his calf. this is all against the backdrop of posting $4.3 billion in out flows in may, and investor withdrawals at the same time coming got to carlos santana with the glasses on. and economic problems are going on. >>
