And where was the San Jose Police department . The Police Watched and did little else. Listen to these accounts of the violence against the Trump Supporters. I was walking out with our trump sign, he grabbed my sign and started following me, saying i was a racist you literally didnt say anything to provoke them . I was, like, yeah, trump, trump. It was my bad. Followed me, spit on me i got hit with a traffic cone, got hit with a bottle of water, got punched several times, got kicked in the ass once, literally kicked in the ass. And then somebody ran into the back of my knees, dislocated my right knee, and thats why im sitting down talking to you. Lou the man who shot the video of the men being sucker punched today told my colleague, stuart varney, that the San Jose Police did nothing to stop the violence, nothing to help those assaulted by the mob. When this man in the yellow shirt was coming out, there were several officers who did not intervene when the crowd started rushing at him, spitting on him and pushing him. I dont know what the reason for that is. I assume its because the police have different units like the assist unit and crowd control, stuff like that. And it wasnt until after he was hit in the back of the head that officers came in and pulled him out. Lou and thats not all. One trump supporter a woman taunted by rioters, struck in the face with an egg and water balloons, pinned to the Marriott Hotel doors as Police Officers stood by. She was eventually allowed into the hotel, but again, police did nothing to help her. Also shocking, the mob of rioters were seen burning the american flag. The San Jose Police Department Said they made, quote, a few arrests but wouldnt give any specifics at all. And the mayor of san jose, dem an ocrat, tried to place the blame for the mob violence and his Police Departments inaction on donald trump. The mayor obviously thinks hes pretty cute as well, saying trump needs to, quote take responsibility for the irresponsible behavior of his campaign, end quote. The mayor is not, surprisingly, a Hillary Clinton supporter. Later today Hillary Clinton condemn the violence, but neither Bernie Sanders, nor president obama, nor californias governor, jerry brown, personally came out and condemned the violation. And very likely the violence. And very likely the National Liberal media will in no way hold them accountable or the leftwing activists who assembled and led the mob. Our top story, the sickening violence against donald Trump Supporters and the lefts refusal to condemn it. Trump campaigning in reeding, california reading, california, today. [bleep] reporter it was among the worst violence ever witnessed in this tumultuous election year. Trump supporters confronted as he left his san jose rally. One man was sucker punched as he tried to escape, the blow leaving him stunned on the ground. Another man was cold cocked from behind after walking through the protesters holding a trump sign. Police didnt intervene until they saw blood running down his face. In other places fights broke out, flags and trump hats burned, and one lone woman wearing a trump jersey was trapped against the doors of the Marriott Hotel with employees holding the doors shut, she defiantly challenged her tormenters who pelted her weeings. Hotel staff eventually allowed her inside. Zonings democratic san joses democratic mayor appeared to blame trump for the violence, telling the l. A. Times, quote at some point donald trump needs to take responsibility for the irresponsible behavior of his campaign. At his airport rally in california today, trump lashed out at what happened. We wrapped up, everybody was cheering like crazy forever, then they walk out, and they get accosted by a bunch of thugs. Reporter but the major topic on trumps mind, Hillary Clintons address on Foreign Policy which read more like a screen on why trump shouldnt be president. Donald trumps ideas arent just different, they are dangerously incoheermt. Incoherent. He is temperamentally unfit, leading us into a war just because somebody got under his very thin skin. Hillary clinton is a thief, and Hillary Clinton should be in jail for what she did to our National Security. Reporter and trump is getting criticism from his own quarter for his assertion that the judge overseeing the Trump University case has an absolute conflict of interest because of his mexican heritage, comments trump appeared to struggle to explain today. This judge is giving us unfair rulings. Now i say why. Well, im building a wall, okay . And its a wall between mexico not another country but hes not from mexico. Hes from indiana. He has mexican heritage, and hes very proud of it. Reporter House Speaker paul ryan took exception to trumps statement saying for him it came out of left field. I completely disagree with the thinking behind that. And so he clearly says and does things i dont agree with, and ive had to speak up on time to time when that has occurred, and ill continue to do that if thats necessary. I hope its not. Reporter from here, donald trump will go back home in new york, then gets set to embark on a general election schedule that will take him to 15 states he hopes to put in play and a number of fundraising states. On the democratic side, Bernie Sanders closing in on Hillary Clinton in the fight for california delegates. She pulls ahead by ten points if you look at likely voters. Sanders had trailed clinton by eight points in the polls march result. If there is a large voter turnout, we will win. [cheers and applause] reporter sanders even hit her on her National Security decisions a day after she gave a scathing indictment of Donald Trumps fitness to be the commander in chief. One of the differences between secretary clinton and myself is i helped lead the opposition to that disastrous war [cheers and applause] while she supported that disastrous war. Reporter at a women for hillary event in culver city outside los angeles, many female voters wished Bernie Sanders would concede after the primary on tuesday. Hes kind of done, and i would love to see his supporters get involved in what were doing on the hillary campaign. I think bernie has good ideas, but i think he needs to come on and unite with hillary. Reporter but first, clinton must get past Bernie Sanders here in california. Heres an interesting statistic for you. 28 million republicans have turned out to vote in the republican primary elections this season. That compares to just 23. 7 million democrats. The top issue for voters in this years election, of course, is the economy, and American Workers today receiving what could only be called disastrous news. After hiring in may slowed to the lowest level in nearly six years. Only 38,000 jobs were added last month. Only 25,000 of those jobs in the private sector, thats the fewest since february of 2010. The Unemployment Rate fell to 4. 7 despite that paltry job creation rate. But that decline, of course, driven as a result of people leaving the work force. Nearly half a million americans dropped out of the work force last month, a share of americans employed or looking for a job fell to 62. 6 percent. The result . A Record Number of americans not in the labor force now, almost 95 million people. 94,708,000 people. Some economists put the number of those not working or who have given up working at more than 900 million people. 100 million people. Frankly put, these numbers are not only disappointing, but clear signals that our economy is in profound and lasting trouble unless we begin to deal with longstanding, difficult and systemic issues. It happened in baltimore in the riot there a year ago lou ive got to tell you, the Marriott Hotel, by the way, where that woman is pressed against the doors and those overweight ill just rephrase it. Those folks on the other side of the door that didnt open it, i mean, damn them. I mean, they are yeah. Lou unbelievable. You know, the police, you know, one thing about the police in this thing, you know they didnt want to stand down. You know they didnt want to stay back. You know they naturally want to protect people and keep the streets safe. But they didnt. Lou well, the police chief was standing there with, you know, sucking on his thumbs. I mean, it was embarrassing for the entire city. And, by the way, to be clear, im not talking about the police department, im talking about the people on the other side of those marriott doors that didnt open them instantly to help that woman. Lets turn, if we may, to this poll, mason dixon. Clinton leading trump by three points in florida. Hes getting a lot of good news here. What do you make of it and where are we headed . Well, i think what it shows is in florida and many other big states and across the country trump is tied with Hillary Clinton. And, you know, one of the things i think is the problem with the media is they just sort of have taken this as a given, but its a huge achievement by trump. I mean, i certainly didnt think even a few weeks ago that he would be tied with hillary now and moving pretty swiftly past her perhaps. And the other thing thats happened, of course, is remember when all the republicans were worried that trump would be killed in a landslide, and the republicans would lose the senate and the house lou i heard i dont know what they believed, but i heard the nonsense from primarily establishment republicans. Yeah, i remember that. Indeed. But they really had that fear. Well, that fear is gone when trumps tied with hillary. That means hes not going to be dragging republicans down. Lou they have, if you will, new fears, and that is they will be discomfited by the man they have insulted and harassed and harangued for ten months. Im thinking theyre going to change they need to tone it down, dont you think, fred . Yeah. But trump lou couldnt resist. Trump needs to tone it down on that judge and concentrate on things people want to hear about, i want to hear about, you want to hear about. Democratic leaders have been slow to respond to last nights leftwing violence against those who were attending the trump rally in san jose. That mob described on the scene as a combination of clinton and sanders supporters, Illegal Immigrants and anarchists. So far only clinton has personally condemned that violence. Sanders and president obama personally, theyve remained quiet. And i, for one, dont expect them to find their voices anytime soon. That narrative doesnt work for the leaders of the left. Just two days ago president obama was more than happy to take a shot at donald trump while touting his economic performance. Warning politicians who are preying on our economic fierce, said the president. And today we find out that the economy added the fewest number of jobs since september of 2010. An abysmal 38,000 jobs in may. Trump slammed what he called incompetent leaders for what he called the devastating bombshell report. And once again vowing to bring jobs back to america. Another of trumps top issues also coming into focus today as they tend to do. A Smuggling Network has been helping middle eastern men cross into the United States through our southern border with mexico. One of those Illegal Immigrants, an afghan with ties to the taliban and associated with a plot to carry out a terrorist attack. The man apprehended by u. S. Authorities some 15 miles north of the mexico arizona border last november. This as new government reports show illegal immigration surging, up 57 in less than two years according to the new analysis. Trump is the only president ial candidate who has raised and discussed the most Critical Issues that face this country and our working families. From securing our borders to creating jobs here at home, bringing manufacturing back to america, restoring prosperity to all americans. In my view, his America First policy is the best of all possible guides in all policy choices. And there is no close second choice, in my opinion, to donald trump as president. Kennedy who said, quote i look forward to a great future for america, a future in which our country will match its military strength with our moral restraint; its wealth with our wisdom; its power with our purpose. Lou joining us now to talk about that, the violence out in san jose and the trump candidacy, were joined by the former speaker of the house, Newt Gingrich, 2012 president ial candidate, author of many books and coauthor of the new book, rediscovering god in america. Newt, great to have you with us. Lets get to this thing, first of all, the unpleasantness between paul ryan and donald trump over some remarks he made about mexican heritage as a disqualifier for the judge in that federal case against Trump University. Well, so, first of all, i agree with speaker paul ryan. I think that that was a dumb comment. I think it was, frankly, an insulting comment, and i think that trumps got to learn to control himself. But theres a deeper lesson here. Lyndon johnson used to say if you want me to be in on the landing, i want to be in on the takeoff. And ill tell you, much as i admire donald trump, and i think my records pretty clear, much as paul ryans trying to find a way to work with donald trump, if all we get are the landings and were never involved in the take ahs, we owe him no marley hold particularly holding back a punch when we think hes doing something wrong. Lou by the way, i agree bringing up his heritage as such was an absolute mistake. But i do think theres some context, and he may have well been using shorthand, and id like to get your judgment about these facts that relate to, quoteunquote, heritage issues around the judge. If we could go lets see the full screen on this, because it is, i think, interesting. He is a member of the la raza lawyers association, that is the judge, he is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association of the latino judges association, the National Hispanic prosecutors association, hes a former colleague and friend of one of the plaintiff attorneys, jason forge, who worked they worked together as federal prosecutors. One of the firms for the clintons, that is, for the plaintiffs, robbins, geller or, budman and dowd, the firm involved in the trump lawsuit, paid the clintons 675,000 to the clintons, and in part of that time, in part of that time during the trial itself. Judge curiel also donated im just going to go through some of this, to javier becerra, one of the most leftwing members of congress, as you well know. Supported the dream act, a prominent member of the hispanic caucus. The list goes on here. Now, to what degree again, as i said, he made a mistake in talking about his mexican heritage but as we look at this relationship of activism to what are advocacy groups in point of fact, personal relationships and money crossing here in front of him, it does give one pause, does it not, whether the public is the forum for it or a courtroom for a motion, the reality is there is much there that is troubling. Yeah. And, look, i mean, trump hires good lawyers. If that case can be made intelligently, they ought to move for a change of venue. They ought to say, look, this judge is at the same timed. Lou yep. Thats a perfectly legal judicial maneuver. But a president ial candidate has got to grow up and understand as a president ial candidate you do not smear somebody based on their ethnic background, you dont make random comments about lou yeah. And by the way lou do you think he actually intended to do that . Im asking you to divine his meaning. Do you think he intended to do that . I think he [laughter] look, i think hes talking about somebody of mexican descent in a negative way, what am i suppose to take from that . Does this mean every black judge who belongs total naacp is somehow infloat give me a break here. Lou i dont think thats fair, newt. Each one of these are ethnicbased, ethnocentric organizations. Every one of them. This isnt about his personal profile and involvement in the American American Bar Association wait a second lou committed to the, quoteunquote, community rather than the law, and i think theres some reason here to pause lou, lou, there may be a good reason for the lawyers to go into the court and demand lou i agreed with you at the outset. I agreed that was a mistake to refer to his mexican heritage. Right lou two parents who came over from mexico. But it is a big mistake, and the deeper point here that trump has got to learn. If youre going to run a campaign where you have allies, your allies have to know what youre going to say, and they have to be able to rely on you to not get them in an embarrassing position where they cant defend you. Frankly, if you havent briefed them in advance, they dont owe you a defense, and that gets to be a mess. Lou right. Im thinking as you say this, and forgive me for my appetite for irony. Im thinking that just as the attorneys and trump and his attorneys could have better perhaps pursued the goals that are his, and perhaps rightly so, appropriately so, in private with the judge in his quarters or in his courtroom, perhaps one of the people being considered for Vice President would have been better to do the same with his comments to the presumptive nominee. Any pause, any pause on the irony . The fact is im not talking to you as a potential anything. Im telling you as a leader of the Republican Party whos been around a long time that i care very deeply that donald trump win. I do not believe donald trump can win unless he gets his pattern under control and his allies know that they can rely on him. Lou i think, by the way, hes very fortunate that he has friends like you. And i do mean that sin seriously sincerely and absolutely. Newt, we thank you for being here. Thank you. Lou absolutely terrific to talk with you, as always. Im telling you, whatever they trained him to do in the navy, hes a very fortunate fellow. He was airlifted to safety and help. The vet able to return home, no physical injuries. Rule number one, by the way, for all mariners now, he was an aviator taking up boating but all mariners new or old, please do not get separated from your boat. Lets start with, if i may, this mob violence in san jose and how you believe donald trump should handle it and should respond to it. Well, its obviously utterly unjustified. I noticed today Hillary Clinton has blamed trump in part for creating the conditions where his supporters are attacked. Lou yeah. And i think that really is the opening for trump to say, look, there is simply no excuse for anybody to use physical violence in america. This is what free speech is all about. I think this is very to tent for most potent for most americans who dont go to demonstrations, watch their politics on television. But i think back to the 68 election and nixons use of the law and order issue. I think it plays to trumps advantage. Lou yeah. To his advantage, also the mayor standing down apparently, it appears theres no other reason why those Law Enforcement officers would not come to the aid of citizens. To people period. The Marriott Hotel is going to have a lot of explaining to do about why those tours did not open for doors did not open for a woman who was being assaulted by that mob. These are difficult issues. And the mayor blaming trump, again, for his campaign. You know, i guess the way to say it is darn his hide. Yeah. Look, theres simply no excuse for it. And the demonstrators themselves, if they think theyre making their point, whatever lou these werent demonstrators. These were a bunch of thugs. They did exactly what they meant to which was to interfere with the civil rights of the Trump Supporters. Right. And theyre just, all of their actions were to trumps benefit. If thats the game theyre going to play, its not going to end up way they like it. Lou i want to turn to, very quickly, your thoughts about how donald trump should respond to Hillary Clintons, it was, you know, attack on trump, but it was postured as a major Foreign Policy speech. How should he respond to that . Well, i think in part he needs to go after her on her lack of qualifications. You know, youre not qualified to be president just because you sat in a chair at the state department inside an office called secretary of state for four years. Itd be nice if you had some accomplishments, which she does not. She has many failures she has yet to explain. And i think going through that litany is important to undercut this attack because lou well, you know, trump has done that. He has attacked her record on egypt, on he talks about the entire middle east that this administration and particularly her four years as secretary of state, they destabilized and ambassador, were out of time. Lou im thinking she ought to be thinking about trump as a possible vote. When trump takes away lying from ted cruz and attaches it now to what is a string of descriptors to hillary, she is now lying, crooked hillary excellent. Lou i mean, theres an inventory, he makes i disagree. Tell me why you think lou because what . I think its excellent, because hes proving the greenies will love this, hes recycling. [laughter] hes using one name, hes not lou she set you up. Its a good nickname, and hes going the use it again, and im very impressed with that. And because it also fits. I thought, you know, the nicknames have to be special, so i think you assign them, and you retire them. Its clear that Democratic Party planned for a summer of riots. We believe that the young people of campuses have been trained into doing this, so, yes, its going to keep going on.
