first a general was behind the coup and then the c.i.a. was behind the coup. then president barak obama's name came up. and then, the demonstrations, and today, to this day, what still don't -- demonstrations. yesterday, alone, or two days ago, there was demonstrations. and, in fact, two days ago, bloactd, by the traction, claiming that there was going to be another coup. with the coup, harsh things. and the americans, and, they have to put it in, and, you see that we are going towards an end point. taking up that level of activities. we are going to see more. i truly believe it will be the turkish revolution i think they will have that there. for that i don't understand why. just after the q they came out and said that they are pledging to fight in turkey for the next five years. but how racist members were doing that and watching the issues to offer it in turkey and then the consult today they talk about the fact that the coalition sources they go on the ground. without the support to our enemy. i can guarantee that. where are we going with this. with a society anti- american sentiment. the change of the turkish constitution with the new constitution. i think it's going to be a political summit. we can oversee that. by allowing themselves and the government with that. the elite see this with al qaeda and isis mostly. and also the extension of them for the services to those people. but, they carry out the suicide attack was there. i'm truly concerned about that two days ago and he was arrested after the 17 summit. the corruption charges brought against him. he did not want to get arrested. two days ago his life in he has a baby a 1-year-old been breast-fed by his mom. the middle school brothers and sisters. she was arrested because they could not find the lawyer son. i would like to tell you this. turkey's oldest school almost 200 years old and what that accomplished. they have that on the media while it's been sold. thank you very much. [applause]. >> good afternoon. thank you for having me. it's great to be here. i've been thinking about this for the last two days. in trying to make sense of this when i can get anywhere for the next 40 or 50 minutes. i think this is a great wake-up call were already told that it was an area that was dead and nobody studied anymore. i think they might be back on again. who knows. so let's start off on the premise of what actually happened. of all of the cogs i've spoken to with the news information that i've been able to simulate there is a main stream view in turkey right now by individuals who say that the west has us run. it is being slammed in the last few days over the coverage of these issues. we are concentrating on that. who is actually responsible and the kind of torment that turkey is experiencing. this is a very traumatic experience for any society. any society that has to go through the experience where i was born to see it being fired. in the headquarters of the intelligence organizations. benefits quite replicated ball. very confused and very traumatized. the level of public debate that we see right now is inadequate to deal with what is going on. in terms of who carried out this coup i'm not sure to the extent in which i agree with it. i don't have any better information. i proposed that it is divergent to that. and i have hard evidence to show you. this is more my view that has been informed by the collection of everything else. it does seem apparent that although the government would like to blame. we get to see concrete evidence. visits in into a quick quote pro approach. and again is not something new it has been your thing. if not longer. but right now the government they are willing to take this a step further and really say if you don't necessarily do what we need to do for us we might not be the cooperative outlay in the future. so this does have powerful ramifications arrived at the broad notion of where they are headed as a democracy as far as america is concerned. they find it so offensive. the western media western media is concentrating on the wrong things. you are not you're not looking at it from the perspective of the trauma that has experienced the democracy that your specific and lif is not been stuck up by you. and the american response unfortunately has soured him to plead his position. the chief of intelligence in this country is on the record same we have no evidence to suggest that he was involved. right now it doesn't play well with the turkish government. he has also said i will get back to that one in a second. the message that's coming out and officials here is not what he has here. and so adamant in demanding that lack of action on the part of the u.s. in the way that turkey would like it to act is really straining relations and something needs to happen where the is toned down on both sides. and this is something that is awaiting the next administration . we do not necessarily expect the hand over as i said that will be very time-consuming he may be there. it has not been signed. canada is one of these alternatives. possibly mexico. or some other parts of south africa. to reiterate we do not know if there is a direct correlation between the broader movement. it seems like a broad number of the sympathizers have a certain amount of circumstantial motives to instigate this. that has been reciprocated in turkey a massive declassification on the one hand. you see that purging. i cast over tens of thousands of bureaucrats as well as scholars and universities be detained and fired put on administrative leave by the investigation but you also see the university numbers down. universities which have seemed to be there. one of the speculations of coming out about this is this the moment to the extent that he said this is a gift from god but not just tossing out the would-be coup makers. as is his golden opportunity to weed out to hammer down as much political opposition that's been rising up in turkey certainly since the mid- 2000's. i will stop there and hopefully entertain more questions later on. thank you. thank you for inviting me to this values of the trance atlantic community. and also quite a bit of hustling hassling over common interests as well has been the case. with respect to syria. i would like to argue that even if at this
