i feel you. and i guess that question lot and the only way to think about it even though they do have power it is all a team. congress has to be on the same side the house in the senate first of all, is socks it down rice sacks that he has supported a lot of our families but it isn't just him. he did try to pass the bill years ago that was stopped by the house in that was bad for all of us in the administration having to make those tough decisions i think absolutely we have to hold the people we elect to office accountable and keep an eye on them and that is my participation is so important why your e motion right now of what you are feeling is so important because we can turn that into action bourke-white don't have all the answers ensure the president doesn't either and it is a really difficult thing that is why the immigration reform is on the forefront so whoever we elect we express how important that is for those undergoing through this situation and those of the undocumented communities that may be those that are not so close to the issue. i am sorry i know you are feeling i get it but that is why you have to be involved more than ever. >> my parents are immigrants but they repatriated voluntarily when i went to college so i want to ask about some of the milestones in your journey in your relationship especially with your parents the responsibility that is cultural and how your creative work reconciled who you are in spite of your situation? >> is a battle every day i will get myself in the title of my book is called my family divided" and it is me divided my life divided. and there has been a lot of struggles figuring out who i am and who i want to be in my latino? american? where do live along? that by accepting my story and what happened to west not that i am cool with that but knowing that it happened , to take it in and taking action in doing the work that i am doing now have to remember i am always going to have my culture what i learned from my parents but colombian culture than the american culture i got by living here i am american all the time and i am latina all the time we need to continue to tell ourselves there is no separation of american you are that all the time that is part of america said in america's culture and you are no less than anyone else by accepting yourself you can help others and build the country to its fullest potential to make it the best it can be. >> abt and spoke to me as a chinese immigrant daughter. is there any other work that informant your role as uh daughter or your experience that you connected with? maybe more recently? >> and could block with a median. >> with works or books or movies. >> that spoke to me? but i love the work of rosario dawson she works with me in her work over the years with sitting these rich and participation has been waterfall and now she is so outspoken i have seen a lot of her work and i have been inspired. i get articles from students that are studying to be immigration lawyers better working to make an up -- a difference. >> we heard a lot of stories tonight what should the next big story be? >> i think the next shows that are being produced always should cover social issues and some of the things we're going through. the work we are doing should be reflecting our society. >> the next show maybe should be my story. who knows? and want to create something to inform the public what is going on and say what i want to say. at its core to change something whether comedy or drama. >>. >> thank you so much for it very stimulating and informative conversation. and diane will sign copies of her book. [applause] [inaudible conversations] >> what you do at simon schuster? >> senior editor director of publicity. >> what does that mean? >> i run our publicity groups. >> we wanted to talk to you about some of the books that are coming out this season. tallis one book you were working on as an editor. >> a book published in december and it is very interesting she'd say double life and happens to be one of the most respected thinkers and writers. so there is the section of brooklyn section in the final section on philosophy in all of them are part of the mind by the question. >> what are the books that simon & schuster has? >> we have a great list. probably the biggest book would be born to run. it is the first book and probably what most people want to know to even find a publisher with a performance at the super bowl to write the book on his own everything and more. for anybody that is interested in the cultural or musical history to find it fascinating. >> you should go on to worse. >> no question we would like to put it in front of an audience. we haven't figured out exactly where we will go or what we will do but we expect to. >> another title? >> how everything became more. it is a fascinating character. looking at the character she merriest with the of working for a and the lines have blurred between the supplies or. with the military all over the world. but working with ebola or writing code. lots of things that would be involved. we're having it impacts our lives. so they have done a brilliant job to reconstruct the separation between "war and peace". >> how many books has simon & schuster published? it can average any where between 15130 books per year. i don't have the exact number but business or fiction or nonfiction within those categories. >> the last one is from author named david slater. a grad of the headline of "the new york times" said to american boys who were arrested because they're too the most dangerous assassins. and then it tracks the two american boys in the mexican border and the agents that is on their tail. ready is really doing is asking questions and there is the cop in the book from chicago that just a few tweets ago from an ohio family as suspicion those murders were committed by a cartel as well. with your disinclined to support one or another and then increase the of murder rate. >> booktv did a tour of simon & schuster few years back tight bin simon & schuster in the search function and what the whole tour.
