To finish, im not sure really is job he really started because it is starting something to shut down the borders. I dont see any movement on that. I dont see any movement on getting more oil to the Strategic Reserves that he took out. I dont see anything with the prices going down, they are going up. Announcer we leaving this to go allies life to israel. House speaker Kevin Mccarthy holds undo News Conference in jerusalem. He is addressing the israeli knesset. Ladies and gentlemen it is my pleasure to invite Speaker Mccarthy and speaker two sign this declaration of friendship. [applause] [laughter] [indiscernible] can we have another handshake, please . [laughter] [applause] ok and now Speaker Mccarthy will deliver a few remarks and take a few questions from the press. Please exchange your name and outlet when we call upon you for your question. Thank you. First of all, thank you all for coming. Behind me is a bipartisan with the members of congress. As i said in my speech, this is the very First Parliament outside of america that i went to speak at. I didnt on purpose. There is no greater ally then the bond between america and israel. We celebrate 75 years. We just thought back 75 years of what israel would look like today and how strong the bond would be and i dont think anybody envisioned it would be this fruitful and this strong. As america, we are a better nation because israel exists. The world is a safer place because israel exists. I am proud of the fact that america represented and recognized israel just 11 minutes after they became a nation. On this trip, i did not know the story of my own hometown and bond to the family i know the remedies. That they would chain train in my hometown of bakersfield, be in the air force, defend and create the city of israel. As i sit in my speech, 75 years is just a blimp of the long history with israel. It goes back more than 3500 years. Moses led the children out of egypt and then to the promised land. To king david and king solomon and to come back. We want to make sure we continue to flourish and strengthen. The Great Strides that we have made, the abraham the region has become safer and economically stronger. We want to expand those even further. We look forward to working with any nation that wants to work with us to bring peace and prosperity. And i hope that you see that in the weimar citizen bipartisanship in the way that we deal with this. I hope you see the commitment with two america and israel. Ive been here many times, years ago when i became leader, i sat down with thin, on the other side and then, the other side of the aisle, and many times the members would come by party agreement. Say you leave your group and i leave mine but lets stop doing that. Lets go and interact at the same time. You know what we found here . The bond only stronger. We went to walk out to look at different issues and i found californian teamed altogether to go see the deceleration plants. That maybe we could take technology to help our own state. So as i stand here with your next speaker of this press conference, this is not our first time here together. We had been many times. There was one moment in time where we had about 20 of congress with us. We look forward to continuing that. And with what we signed today, look forward to the representatives of those coming representatives of the knes set to come and meet with our congress. We look 70 up 75 years from now i hope that we can say what we said today where the bond is bigger and stronger than we expected. With that i want to introduce the lawyer who has been a longtime friend of israel and a friend of mine. We may come from different parties but we are both americans and we both have the same view when it comes to israel. Create the strongest bond possible. With that, i give you representative. Thank you for including me in this delegation and bringing me in this delegation to israel to jerusalem to recognize the 75th annual anniversary. Seven event anniversary. We wrote 75th anniversary. There was a book that talked about the constitution of fusion in the world. Constitution and the world. If you said to people in 1948 that you would be celebrating your seven event anniversary, they would 75th, anniversary, they would have said it would be a miracle. And they would have been right. The first time i visited israel was almost a half century ago. 1976. I had the opportunity to meet shimon perez who was at the time i believe defense minister. And i have come back decade after decade after decade, year after year after year and i will return in august of this year bringing with me a large delegation. Now, we will not be coming at the same time, but what Speaker Mccarthy said today about the 400 plus, that is 90 of the congress of the United States who stand on the words perhaps not exactly, but Speaker Mccarthy represented the sentiments, the overwhelming sentiments, the overwhelming commitment to israel, its people, freedom, and peace. We know that peace does not come free. We know that courage and commitment and willingness to fight for, and yes, to die for freedom, justice, and equality. As it was in 1948, it is still necessary. So, i am very pleased to be here. Mr. Speaker, it was an excellent speech, you delivered it will. And it expressed the sentiment of our country. Ambassador knives, i am sure, as is our deputy chief of mission expressed that commitment to you regularly, but our presence here, places in and exclamation point. On that. We are democrats, and republicans, but on this issue, we are your friend, ally, and fellow in fighting for the values that we share. Weve talked about those values at this meeting. Your democracy is robust, it is sometimes messy. Our democracy is robust. And sometimes messy. But together, with candor, and courage. We will remain the closest of allies, the closest of friends, and begins for people pete beacons for people around the world that seek justice and equality. At the end of he asked of the speech he asked god to bless america and israel. God blesses both america and israel with the people who inhabit it. The people who are willing to fight for it. Every time i come to israel, i am inspired, which is why i come so many times. 19 times. In august, it will be my 20th visit to israel. I am inspired by the country, but i am so inspired by the people. John kennedy said, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. No people on earth represent that commitment to country more than the israeli people. God blesses israel, and all of you. Thank you very much. [applause] thank you. Lets open up for questions. You travel the first, punch bowl the furthest, punch bowl, gophers. Thank you go first. Thank you. You cannot travel this far and asked me a debt limit russian. Debt limit question. How was that, better . Do you plan to intend attend a joint session . I have a great meaning with the Prime Minister. I think the president will make sure it is just as close a relationship. I know we have a lot of leaders coming 2 america and we expect the white house to invite the Prime Minister over for a meeting especially from the 75th anniversary and the president who is soon coming for a joint session. Another Prime Minister has already done a joint session and i think the president and the next one will be the joint section joint session. And what was your other question . The president still has not talked to me. Im a little bit put out about it. [laughter] im hubbard. I with just the news. Do you think the u. S. Israel relationship is stronger or weaker than it was than a year and a half ago . If you look at us, it is stronger. You can talk to any individual who has a resolution on the floor honoring the 75th anniversary, you watch the congress that can battle back and forth and israel united us together. You look at what we are here together. You can member back here, i think even walking away from this they feel stronger today. I think it will be Even Stronger tomorrow. Yes . [indiscernible] thank you very much. [indiscernible] i was wondering if you and mr. Hoyit could comments. Weve seen the administration trying to intervene in the Justice Reform going on in israel and with the Justin Justice minister they said earlier today that he sees the administration is trying to intervene into the Justice Reform, what is your opinion . I would be happy to also hear mr. Hoyer on this. Are you referring to the administration is our administration . The biden administration. I will send an answer as well. Israel is their own nation. Israel can decide what they want to do. Having democracy is you want to have for each championship check and balance and separation of powers. All of our conversations, everybody agrees, there is some form of reform they need to have , but we leave it up to you, your country to figure out how to do that. It looks as though those two sides are coming together. Meeting with the president today under that umbrella. I know theres a lot of difference of opinion. Democracy sometimes look for looks rough. It can be in our own party is i dont know if you watch my speaker race, it can look rough, but it turns out well. That is what is different than when you look at countries that do not have a democracy, do not have a say, will not have an ability to speak up. I think that is healthy. We look forward to you solving your problems. I think the truth is, friends give friends advice and counsel. Frankly, i have been in the Congress Long enough to recall president coming to the congress and giving me advice on policy. [laughter] we do the same. The speaker is correct. Ultimately, it is is raleys who will have to make their decision israelis who will have to make their decision. The president has convened to discuss their differences. Mccarthy was the majority leader of his house and his party. I was a majority leader of mine. Both of us had to sit down with people of different views and try to bring them together to create consensus. It is my understanding that that is the process that is going on now. We will see the result. I am sorry i have no names are questions. I20 news based in israel, middle east, and america. I wanted to touch on something you brought up a few times. Theres no doubt the United States was instrumental in aiding and supporting the Abraham Accords, what country have you set your sights on and does it rounds of rapprochement and obligations in the region complicate that . What a random as to complicate us is fund terrorism. The law in lebanon continues to fund a civil war in yemen. Malicious around the region. Ascending missiles to shoot it israel. That does not help anyone. It is no secret that i think all of the region with saudi arabia, such a powerhouse and the growth that it could add to the Abraham Accords as well. I think everybody in the region would look to the benefits of what is happening with the Abraham Accords on both sides with economics with the people, terrorism, and others, and with security and safety. When you look at the region itself, everybody can benefit. Be it working together, sharing energy, may be solar, may it be and others. And i think that benefits every Single Person and every single country for a better life and for a better future. I think everybody wants that. Just working towards getting that. I just want to add, we are democrats and republicans here, the Trump Administration accomplished the Abraham Accords working with israel. Israel accomplish that, but we worked with them on that. And to a person we are supportive of Abraham Accords. We think that was an excellent policy. We have passed overwhelmingly a resolution on mr. Snyder that we ought to pursue that. We have a resolution that is pending, and asking for a special representative to make sure what the government is representing to accomplish that objective. He had made it clear to the israelite officials who are very enthusiastic about aiding the additional arab countries. They have a great deal of optimism about the ability to do just that. New york times. In an interview yesterday with israel, you were quoted saying, if President Biden does not invite the Prime Minister to the white house, you will do so to congress. Was that quote accurate . And does that remain the case . Yes, look, i have a long relationship with the Prime Minister. The longestserving Prime Minister of israel. I think, two great nations that have strong bonds should continue to Work Together. I have invited the president to come and give a joint session inside congress. We are working on the day and that could work very soon, hopefully this summer. At the same time, i think the Prime Minister should come meet with members. We had a great bipartisan lunch. Will be do that, i with invite and sit with Akeem Jeffries who is the democratic leader and we would do it in a bipartisan way where we could sit down with the Prime Minister and discuss the region, challenges, ways we could continue to build stronger together. Yes sir. [indiscernible] russia. We know that you do not support the current control supply of weaponry and aid to ukraine. Can you comment, is it possible if in the near future the night u. S. Policy sending aid to ukraine will change . I am not sure is the sound here is not good. Does he say that i do not support a for ukraine . Yes, i support a for ukraine. I do not support what your country is doing to ukraine. I do not support the killing of children either. I think you should pull out and continue i do not think it is right. We will continue to support because the rest of the world sees it just as it is. [applause] we have opportunity to talk to us a few minutes of the flag raising ceremony. I share the speakers view. Almost invariably every time i am in israel, every time, i wear the flag of israel and the United States. Today, i where the ukrainian flag with the flag of the United States. Our country is committed to what the u. N. Charter says that people cannot take land or other countries by force. What is happening in ukraine is criminal. International crime. Women, children, elderly, men, are being slaughtered. By a very large and powerful country. Beating a courageous people who, in my view, must win this war. I believe the United States of america is committed to israels freedom and security and sovereignty, and it is also committed to ukraine as well. I believe that will remain a consensus among democrats and republicans. [applause] yes mailman. Whoever mailman. Whoeve is given the mic. Maam. Whoever was given the microphone. Protester calling on yellen to quit. Do you think that is an appropriate use of state Department Funds . I am not familiar with this but if it is as you say i would have to say no but i have to have more information. I do not think the state department hes to play in politics that is not why we use our tax dollars. Yes. From cnn thank you for taking the question. Some of israels allies have expressed deep concern about discovered ministers and the statements they have said. What was convicted of inciting racism and supporting terrorism. Are you concerned about the direction of the Israeli Government . And how will the u. S. Plan to pay its debts this summer . You had two questions you were talking about people in the cabinet within israel. Look, just as we decide on our own leaders and people get to decide on their own readers. If there is people in the cabinet people disagree the great thing about democracy as people have a right to say that and reject or promote. They can do it. On the debt ceiling, i am concerned about the debt ceiling. I have been from the moment i became speaker. That his wife abr one i went to the president said we should sit down and solve this problem that is why on february 1 and i went to the president and said we should sit down and solve his problem. We will have to come together as a cabinet to solve this problem. Weve been through this before in the only way solve problems is to negotiate. Im looking forward to the president changing his mind and negotiating with us. If that is not the case, i want to make sure the debt ceiling did get raised. We raised it before we came here and not only did we raise it, we we believe that we need to make america stronger, so we put items in there that would make America Economy stronger especially when it comes to energy. We would also make the Global Environment better. My friend, but not our the individual from russia that asked the question, if we were laced russian natural gas europe for year, we would lower 218 million tons of co2 emissions. Not only would we make the environment stronger, we would make the world safer. God blessed us with those resources and we should be able to provide it to make the economy stronger. We want to cut red tape so we can build things in america again. We have a difference of opinion on both sides, but if the senate has a different opinion, pass a bill. How congress works, if you go to schoolhouse rock, house will pass a bill, House Speaker Kevin Mccarthy held a News Conference after his speech to the knesset.
