Lake superior college to train new mechanics to service the jetliners at the airport. See, we have the skills gap in the country. 3 million plus jobs that businesses cannot fill because they cannot find workers with the right skills. So i took this model of community and technical colleges working with different business sectors to train up skilled workers and made that a focus of congresss First Successful reform of our federal workforce training system. Now more americans and more minnesotans will have the opportunity to train for these highskilled, goodpaying middle class jobs that will make our economy stronger. It has been an honor working with and for the great people of minnesota and the United States senate. We have a lot of work to do to make sure that our state and country work for all minnesotans. And i look forward to this debate to build on what we have achieved so far. Thank you. Mr mcfadden. Two minutes, sir. Thank you for the invitation. I want to thank the audience. I appreciate you being here at an early time in the morning. Want to thank senator franken for your service over the last six years. I want to recognize franny. The two of you are celebrating your 39th wedding anniversary. A day early, i would like to congratulate you i was going to use that. You can use it again. You can use it again. I am mike mcfadden. I am running for u. S. Senate because we can do better. We have to do better. I would like to describe myself as just a dad. My wife and i have been married 26 years, and we have been blessed. Mary kate and i are so concerned about what we are handing off to our children, 17 and a half trillion dollars of debt. Now were asking them to pay for our Health Care System as we get older with a system that doesnt work and needs to be fixed, and i will do that. We also have an overzealous Regulatory Agency that has been an enemy of mining and farming, and i going to fix that. I am running against al franken, who has voted with president obama 90 of the time. I hear that people do not believe the press event is leading us in the right direction. The economy has gone absolutely sideways since al franken became a senator. It would be food, gasoline, energy. We are the greatest country in the world. I know how to get us on the road to growth and prosperity. I have a plan. My plan is the three es. I will get these mines open, i promise you. Energy and mining. Education and effective government. We have nine or 10 questions. I want to ask about the negative things some of your opponents have said. You side with corporations and hide your money offshore. How do you respond to critics who say you are wrong for minnesota . I am proud of my business career. I worked very hard. My dad grew up on a dairy farm. My dad was able to go to college because my uncle john paid for it. So i have been able to participate in the american dream. I have worked very hard. I will not apologize for it. I i am disappointed in al franken to run negative ads. Every News Organization has come forward and said they are false. I run a company headquartered here that pays income taxes in the United States. We can do so much better. I am so tired of politics as usual. I entered the private sector. I believe the single Biggest Issue is we created this class of politicians. I believe senator franken has become part of that class. He has voted with the president 97 of the time. He is the most partisan senator in the democratic are two. He has voted 159 out of 161 votes with the Democratic Party. That makes him the most partisan senator in washington. That is a fact, that is not my opinion. I left my job and put my family at risk because i believe we can do better. We have an opportunity to see our best days ahead of us by getting on the pathway to growth and prosperity. It begins with effective government. I will get pipelines built. I will get lines open. That will get more money and your pockets and allow us to grow in your pockets. Thank you very much. Franken ifnk and, you believe some of the commercials, you are nothing more than a comedian, dont spend any time in minnesota. You vote with obama and even proposed abortion on demand. How do you respond to critics who say you are wrong for minnesota . I dont subscribe to those websites. I always vote in what i believe is the interest of the people of minnesota. In an era where there has been a lot of gridlock, i have worked across party lines to find commonsense solutions. I worked with so Many Republican colleagues with dick luger on the Diabetes Prevention program. Which is saving lives. 75 of the cost of health care is chronic diseases, and diabetes is one of the biggest. On workforce training with Lamar Alexander of tenneesee. On pharmaceutical safety i did a bill with pat roberts of kansas. The farm bill, i cowrote the energy title. I work for renewable energy. My first bill with Johnny Issacson of georgia was a veterans bill. We have a propane crisis. I have worked across party lines and gotten things done. Part of the reason we had this meltdown six years ago, five years ago, was because the Credit Agency gave aaa ratings to all this junk. I did a bill to regulate these so they cannot give aaa these financial products. I did that with senator roger i did that with senator roger wicker, a republican of mississippi. You can slice and dice these numbers anyway you want and come up with things that say pretty ridiculous things, but i work for minnesota every day, and i have been proud to do that. Lets get to the issues. I was told we would get a rebuttal. One thing i am going to ask everybody to do is watch his actions and not his words. Politico magazine ranks him on a bill to cosponsor legislation. That is a fact, not my opinion. He has done nothing to accelerate the polymet. He has not approved the Keystone Pipeline, which has been under review for six years. Look at his actions, not what he says. We can take these issues one by one. That study said ted cruz was one of the most nonpartisan senators in the United States senate. He he is the guy who led the shutdown of the government. If you are sighting that kind of thing i think that shows a weak position. Thats all. They are opposite sides of the actor. Al franken is the ted cruz of the Democratic Party. Except that ted cruz is more bipartisan than a majority of the senate. Lets move on with some of the issues. What is your position of safe transport of oil, the backload of commodities to market, and where you stand on the expansion of pipelines . I am a huge fan of energy and a huge fan of pipelines, and i will work hard to get pipelines illtimed approved. We are sitting on the doorstep of an Energy Renaissance that will allow us to see the best days ahead of us as opposed to behind us. We have the opportunity to be energy independent, which is historic. We have not been Energy Independence since the early 1960s. What Energy Independence allows me to do for you is put more money in your pocket. Heating bills go down. Gasoline prices go down. We have had over a 1000 days of gas being above three dollars a gallon. In december of 2008 it was one dollar 60. We have become a manufacturing superpower once again. We are able to compete globally. We are able to insource goodpaying, highpaying jobs, not outsource them. I am a huge supporter of u. S. Steel. I am going to tell you the facts. The number one way to make our Steel Industry as competitive as we can globally is to lower the cost. Al franken wants to get rid of the coal industry, which will ruin the port of duluth. Half of that ship out of the sport is cold. At the mine they spend 1. 3 million every month on electricity, which is driven by coal. I will make our industries more competitive. I will get us back on the road to growth and prosperity. That is why i want you to vote. We need a diverse portfolio of energy, and that includes fossil fuels. Global warming is real, and eventually we are going to have to move to renewables. Now, you can grow a big crop. If you cannot get it transported someplace that is a problem for market. That is why this rail issue is so big. I have been going to the transportation board since i got to the senate. I worked with david vitter, a republican of louisiana, to get the cost of filing a complaint with the transportation board that regulates the railroads from 20,000 to 350 so people can file a complaint. I got the transportation board to come out here. I got them to come to minnesota bsff andorders to Canadian Pacific and to make sure they would get fertilizer to our farmers. Then i got them back out again. It is not just grain. It is coal for our utilities. I dont want to get rid of coal. One thing we are using for electricity is natural gas. That came from this renaissance in fracking, which was developed by the department of energy. That is why we like to do energy research. I am chairman of the energy subcommittee, and this is something i love talking about. With all due respect, your lack of Energy Policy and lack of Energy Policy from president obama has caused a railcar shortage. You havent approved any pipeline. The Keystone Pipeline has been under review process for six years. That is crazy. That is too long. Pipelines are proven to be the most efficient, most environmentally sensitive way to transport oil. Until you start passing pipelines we are going to have a rail car shortage. I know how to get us on the road to growth and prosperity. You are putting bandaids as opposed to going to the root causes. We need pipelines in this country. I want everyone to know i am for pipelines. I will get them built. That is the number one way to alleviate our railcar shortage. The Keystone Pipeline really has nothing to do with the with this oil. How about alaska . What i voted is to not circumvent the regulatory process on keystone. Let me tell you what i have voted for. I have voted that if we build the Keystone Pipeline, it will be built with american steel. Mr. Mcfadden, after our first debate, said it would be ok with him if the Keystone Pipeline were made with chinese steel, if we are a little bit cheaper. Those are minnesota jobs. I fight for minnesota jobs. Maybe that is the difference between me and mr. Mcfadden. Maybe he sees profit over people. When i see a pipeline i want it built with american steel. We have other pipelines. We have to make sure they are cited correctly. Pipelines are more efficient than rail, in many cases. I want mr. Mcfadden to address the chinese steel issue. The difference between mr. Franken and myself is i will Talk Straight to you. I dont want to see for and still used in pipelines anymore. He doesnt want you to know he he doesnt want you to know he voted against the Keystone Pipeline. He has voted against the pipeline multiple times. Period. I will get the pipeline built. By taking advantage of the renaissance is the number one may number one way to make u. S. Steel as competitive as it can be. I know that and will get it done. They have been working to get permitted nine years and working to get precious metals. Do you support Copper Nickel mining . Can it be done safely . We will begin with you. I think the vast majority of minnesotans want those jobs to happen. They are going to be good paying jobs. And good jobs. I also think that the vast majority of minnesotans want to make sure the groundwater isnt contaminated. Minnesotans want to make sure this is done right. I met with the heads of polymet. They say this process is a good process. They say the regulators are tough but fair, and they want this done. They say the project has improved. It is safer. It is less likely to contaminate water for possibly centuries. I have the same view as the entire iron range delegation. All the delegations of the state legistslature have a uniform view on this. Lets do this right. We want to make this happen, but lets make sure we do it right. The only thing worse than taking a long time to get this right is getting it wrong. Because rangers want sustainable mining. This is a new kind of mining. We have been mining iron or on the range for decades. I just expanded what they were doing to help get permits. Mining is so important to our state. We need sustainable mining. And that is what i am four. Mr. Mcfadden, can Metals Mining be done safely . Did you say nine years . I want everyone to know i will fight for miners. The fact it has taken over 2 Million Dollars in regulatory review is not acceptable. It is crazy. It is crazy. I remind you the democratic had the the city opportunity to put forth in a platform that they support mining, and they didnt. And watch al frankens actions and not his words. In six years to accelerate the review process of polymet. He has written multiple times on issues, but he has not fought for miners, because he is connected at the hip with extreme environmentalists. I am tired of this that you are either for the environment or for jobs. You can do both. I do not want to do anything that would harm our 10,000 lakes. But we have a process that has taken nine years and we still do not have an answer. The reason we do not have an answer is that there are seven different regulatory agencies as possible for making this decision. This is lunacy. When now franken says that he has talked to polymet and that they are ok with the process, that is crazy. I fight for effective government. I know how to have efficiency. So let us be absolutely clear. I support the mines. I support miners. I am the one who is going to get these minds open. Senator franken said six years, and we have made no progress. Senator franken, im going to give you one minute to rebut that. I have been talking to et representatives eversons i got your. I speak with a very friendly. They know that this process has improved the project to make it the likely to contaminate groundwater, which would be a disaster. We are talking about mitigating that for centuries. That would be an unbelievable cost. There are seven agencies because this is both federal and the state that has to weigh in on this. The Forest Service has to weigh in because it has led exchanges. This is too important not to get this right. We need to get this right, and to the range delegation, and the state legislators in the delegation, they get elected by the people on the range. They want sustainable mining. They want to make sure that this is done right and if right, and if it is done right, it will be sustainable. Differencethe between al franken and myself. He has got to washington and he has been washingtonized. He is telling you that nine years is a reasonable process. That is not reasonable. That is the definition of unresolved. That is unacceptable. We have talked about this conceptually. For the good people on the iron rate, they have just lost another generation because there are no jobs. We have the opportunity, not met, with copper and nickel of there, because it is a large opportunity to create thousands of jobs and billions of billions and billions dollars of Economic Impact in the state. And also with any region in the state with a high on employment rate. It is almost twice the rate of the rest of minnesota. I in here to tell you today that i, mike mcfadden, fight for andrs, i write for readers, im going to win up in the range because i am your advocate. Us talk about the Affordable Care act. It has withstood dozens of challenges in congress, it has withstood the scrutiny of the supreme court, and it is currently the law of the land. Is this a settled issue, or in your opinion, where should we go witfrom here . Mr. Mcfadden, i start with you. Issue in this country. I know that as a businessman. I know that obamacare is a wrong answer. It is a train wreck. Quoting democratic senator matt baucas. It is a wreck. Disasternot have this but for al franken. [laughter] please audience, please. Endhat frustrates me to no is that this was implemented based on life. Lies. It is the largest a mastech policy arrangement in a generation, and it was signed nobody read it. And it was based on mistruths. The first one being that you could keep your insurance policy. Well 100 40,000 minnesota spout out that that was not true. The second was that you could 0eep your 140,00 minnesotans know that this is not true. The second was that the you could keep your doctor. That is not true. Senator franken said repeatedly that it would lower the average cost for a family by 25. I went to tell you the truth. That is a lie. That is not good to happen. Period. I look at cost. I look at accessibility. I look at equality. My plan will lower cost, increase accessibility, and maintain equality. And al franken will say i dont have a plan. I do have a plan. I have put a proposal for drink obamacare is a disaster. It is not working. It is a disaster. I will roll up my sleeves and i will go to washington to get this fixed. I will make sure that people with preexisting conditions can get insurance at a reasonable rate. That is a promise. Senator franken . There have been obviously problems with the rollout and aca. My job is to make the Affordable Care act work as best as it can for every minnesota. But let us look at what has happened. We have reduced the number of uninsured in minnesota by over 40 . Minnesota now has 95 of its people with health insurance. It is second in the country. People with preexisting conditions can no longer be turned down because they have a preexisting condition. To havewhat you used lifetime limits. If you hit your lifetime limit, you were thrown off. Whose daughterom had cystic fibrosis. Lifetimeit her limit. Her child is alive today because of the Affordable Care act. Kids now can stay on their policy until they are 26. Seniors can get free preventative care. They see that dont hold closing, and it will close completely. Medicare solvency has been extended by 11 years. If you want to take do you want to take that away . Part of that is because it now cost 1000 less for medicare than it would cost now. That is because of the reforms that were made. And that is because of the unbelievable work and the delivery they Health Care Reit the Health Care Delivery form not only in the country but in minnesota. We lead in that. Continue toto incentivize health care and not sick care, which is what we used to do. Accountable Care Organizations in minnesota that amazingg unbelievably reforms. Understand if he were appeals this, it goes back to square one. It goes back to square one and it goes back to a divided congress and all of this goes away. Mr. Mcfadden . Al, let us be absolutely clear, obamacare is a train wreck. It is a train wreck and i will fix it. I have traveled around this great state and i have been to all 87 counties in the last six months. I have story after story from people where the system is not working. A 29yearold man with type two diabetes who lost his insurance, promise. He president s he had to go on the exchange and a cost two times more. God bless them. I was in rochester last week and a woman came up to me with a eyes between fear and anger. She just received her premiums in the mail. You know what is going to cost her next year . A 50 increase we do have the best health care in minnesota. Difference between al franken and i. I believe the state is a laboratory for experiments. Our system will look like a va. I am not going to allow that to happen. I will fight for you. Senator franken . Understand this. We are really at a turning point here. We can do one of two things. We can repeal the afford will care act the Affordable Care act i go back to square one. Au will not get coverage with preexisting condition, no guarantees of coverage if youre a woman because you are a woman. No guarantees that once you have gone through your lifetime limit your just thrown off. 50 of all bankruptcies in this country have been caused by health care crises. We have a choice here, that is the difference between mr. Mcfadden and me. Make no mistake about it. You repeal this, it goes back and there will be ive hundred Different Health plans. And you think this congress now is, isn gridlocked as it actually going to come up with a Health Care Plan that gives people guarantees if they have preexisting conditions and all of the other stuff that we have seen . The Great Recession is still being felt here in northern minnesota where the recovery has not been quite as quick. What should the senate be doing or what should washington be doing to spar and encourage Economic Development and economic recovery, especially up north here . Senator franken, let us begin with you please. We have had 54 straight months of private Sector Employment increases. But it is not going to the middle class. Part of that is because this is kind of a topdown economy, and a lot of this economy is rate, frankly. They makeshore their corporation in ireland or bermuda. We need to focus on the middle economycause 70 of our is consumption. And when people have money, that is when business is higher people, is when people spend money. Why i am so focused on this skills gap. Three plus million jobs sitting there, and they can be filled if these people if are trained. It will make us more globally competitive, it will give people jobs, this is winwin. We also need there is 1. 2 trillion setting out there ins didnt debt. In student debt. We need to refinance student debt. You can refinance your car loan, you can refinance your home loan, why not refinance your student loan . Raise the minimal wage. Why cant you refinance your student loan . People are delaying buying a house. People are delaying starting a family. It is because of the student debt. And it is not just people in their 20s and 30s, it is people their 40s who should be parents and grandparents. There is a bill in the senate, and if we just get three republican votes, we can get this done, we can start this up and restart the economy. Here is the facts. Ever since senator franken has taken office and has voted with obama 90 of the time, we have had the slowest rebound in the recession in the United States. That is a fact. We have had an absolutely stagnant economy. That is not acceptable. It is not acceptable. Here is another fact. The federal debt has gone up 70 under al frankens watch, and that is 17 and a half Million Dollars. I have a plan. It is the three es. It is energy and mining and education and ineffective government. I will get the doors open. That is a huge game changer here. Said we are only talking about the Keystone Pipeline, we are not just talking about that. Weird talking about we are talking about many many more if we start getting this review process accelerated. We need people who can go to dc who are going to get things done. And i am glad he brought up education and i could not agree with him more, we need to match skills with jobs. But i got a tell you something. Minnesota, we have great Public Schools that we can be very proud of. But unfortunately, we do not have great Public Schools for everyone. In fact, we have the worst outcomes in the country for minorities. We have the lowest graduation hispanics, the Second Lowest for africanamericans, and Graduation Rates are significantly lower than 50 . That is low, and where is the moral outrage on that . Been involved in an Innercity School in one of the toughest neighborhoods where 90 of the students are latino, and we do this for safety percent of the cost, and i want to radically change the School System in the inner city so that all children, regardless of zip code, have a right to a firstclass education. And, a oneflake minute rebuttal on economic recovery. , a one minute rebuttal on economic recovery. It was called the Great Recession for a reason. This is the worst recession that we have ever had. Had 54 months of private sector growth in jobs. Much of the income has gone to those at the top. That is a big problem. ,the 60sy is now in the ratio of a co2 average worker was 20 to one or eight is now 300 to one. 20 21, it is now 300 21. We need to make sure that women are paid equal for equal work. Those are things that mr. Mcfadden is against. Minnesotans need theinnesotans who benefits of refinancing student loans. We need to do that. One minute mr. Mcfadden. You have been in washington for the last six years and you supporting obama nettie 7 of the time. What was obama 97 of the time. Number . Was the 97 . Let me write that down. [laughter] i have had over 1300 have you done a town hall meeting since elected . I believe president obama has done a majority more than you have in the state. I have a minnesota breakfast in washington every wednesday theyyour son came to, and ask questions that they want ask, so it was not hostile. To listen to what he says, look at his actions. I was at the university of minnesota last week. We were supposed to debate. Senator franken decided he did not want to debate. He showed up, spoke, and left. I stayed there for an hour and did a town hall. And multiplele questions, and i was there with college tunes. I love doing that. You got to go out and listen to the people. People know the economy is not working. Younger people know that. That is why i have a plan. Let us move on. Let us turn our attention overseas for the moment. We are confronting a growing terrorist threat in isis. Experts say that airstrikes will not win the battle. The Administration Says that we will not commit ground troops. How do you propose that we deal with this issue of his growing terrorist threat, mr. Mcfadden . Happy that was very the president went on in front we arenation and said going to do Strategic Bombing in syria and iraq. Isis is a huge issue. They are barbarians. They need to be stopped. But i cant tell you how frustrated i am with the complete lack of Foreign Policy vision from this president and al franken. This president went into office six years ago, i remind you, saying that i am glad to sit down with the leaders of venezuela, north korea, and iran, and we will make things work out. Is a morerld dangerous place today because we have not he is leading from behind, and it is a mistake. When an ambassador is killed in benghazi, we did nothing and the world watched. Then this president drew a red line in syria, which was crossed, and we did nothing. And the world watched. So there should be no surprises as to what happened in ukraine or in gaza or now in syria and iran. Scary by theeally fact that in minnesota, we have become the number one recruiting area for terrorists. In minnesota i am really concerned about that. I want to know what al franken has done over the last six years. This did not just our with isis, it started in 2008 and 2009 with alshabaab. It was not until a couple of weeks ago the al franken said a letter to the attorney general. A letter. I mean, after this has been going on for multiple years that is a date late and a dollar short, as my daddys essay. I will fight for minnesotas, i will fight for your security, and im will make your world a safer place. Thank you, senator franken . , andis is a barbaric group they need to be degraded and destroyed. They pose a threat not just to the region, but to us. Equip the train and moderate rebels in syria, i ,upport the bombing in syria and isis does not observe the border between syria and iraq, and we should not either. Let us talk about this terrorist recruiting. Devastatingedibly to the families. There are about two handfuls, about 10 or 12 minnesota to have been recruited to iraq and to syria. Minnesotans who have been recruited to iraq and to syria. In 2009, we knew that alshabaab was recruiting from our communities. The first is that i was in office, i went to the fbi and got briefings on that in washington, and on my first recess i got briefings in special meetings in st. Paul. I have worked with the community. I have worked with law enforcement. I pressed the secretary of homeland security. I pressed the director of the fbi in hearings. In the judiciary hearings on this recruitment. And we diminish what was going as far as our cheval, and i asked the doj, and i asked for more resources, and they sent a letter saying yes we are going to do that. I was in a meeting just two , and the community understood that this is really important to get those resources in. So a couple of comments. A couple comments. To i am glad you voted support the president in the arming of Syrian Rebels. I want to make should the record is clear. This president was advised by every member of the National Security council and his secretary of state to arm the free Syrian Rebels two years ago. And he declined to do it. He was also advised by every member of the chief of staff the military and the army chief of staff to keep a residual force in iraq. And he declined to do so. So this is a president that al franken has supported 97 of the time. We talk of the terrorist recruitment in minnesota, i have met with the Community Leaders in the east african community. One of their biggest concerns is education. We have the worst education outcomes for minorities the worst lower than 50 al franken is complicit. These are the root causes that need to be addressed. I will get them address. I am a problem solve. Thank you, senator franken . Lets be clear about the be. A little over a year ago, mr. Mcfadden had the opportunity to weigh in on what to do in syria after president assad is chemical weapons. Every republican candidate for the United States senate was asked by Minnesota Public Radio for their views on what to do. Everyone answered except for mr. Mcfadden. He refused to answer. Because it is a tough call. There are a lot of tough calls. It is easy to score political points from the bleachers. This is a serious job. Make you have got to make real choices in real time. Understand this. Inry republican candidate the u. S. Senate was asked by npr what they would do in syria, and mr. Mcfadden blinked. Thank you very much, lets turn back to domestic issues. Dredgingation, from duluth harbor, and making it safe, mr. Franken, we begin with you. Im very happy that we got the funding for dredging which is so important under the Water Resources development bill. I fought for that. Yeah, we need to pay for infrastructure. The three drivers a prosperity in our economy are education, infrastructure, and research and development. And the Highway Trust Fund is running out of money. Now, there are certain ways that we can pay for it. There is money there to pay for this. End theple, i voted to subsidies to oil and Gas Companies. The oil and Gas Companies are the most successful, richest, Biggest Companies in the history of the world. I get a billion dollars in subsidies. U. S. About this commercial where i was attacked for voting for higher taxes 40 times. One of those was i voted to end the aliens of dollars of subsidies for oil and Gas Companies. Subsidies of billions of dollars of subsidies for oil i guess guppies. Ould be building roads. Mr. Mcfadden was asked at a conference, and he said yes. On taxing. Reversing himself, and he said let me make it clear, i am reversing it. There are ways to do this. One of them is to stop subsidizing the oil and gas industries. There are other places that we are wasting money. , in thepending up to next 30 years, a trillion dollars on upgrading our Nuclear Weapons arsenal. Those are weapons that we will never use. Rebuttal, so chuck, we it is a great question. We have a huge if a structure issue in this country. I have spent the last six months traveling around minnesota. Roads need to be repaired. Bridges need to be repaired. It is the road of the federal government to fund infrastructure. We need to dramatically overhaul how we do it. Senator franken talked about making tough calls. You have to make tough calls, but you also need to take responsibility for making the wrong calls. The way that we fund for infrastructure is not working right now. The gas tax is unsustainable because as cars continue to get more and more gas mileage, we are going to have less and less revenue. We have got to find a better way to do it. It has to come out of general revenues. It has to be part of a dramatic overhaul of the tax code. In order to our cobblers deck we have to dramatically change the mindset in washington, dc. It is a partisan. No one takes responsibility. Republicans dont take responsibility for outcomes. They say we cant get anything done because we cant work with the president , or we cant work with harry reid. The democrats say we cant get a thing done because we cant work with the house of representatives. While this is representative of arc or see, it is what we signed up for. ll always have representative democracy, it is what we signed up for. I put forth that al franken has proved that over the last six years, he is part of the problem and not part of the solution. Despite what he says, look at what he does. He has voted 159 out of 161 ines, and he is number one the Democratic Party. He is in a universe of one. He is part of the problem. He is not part of the solution. Senator franken . I dont know how you cherry pick those votes, i have taken a lot more votes than that, i can to that. Look. Things i was the attacked by the mcfadden cap a was voting to get rid of a Tax Companies that send jobs overseas. I was in when nona a couple of years ago. A couple of years ago. Train the woman who is going to replace her in mexico. And guess what . Rw gets a tax reduction for closing the factory. I wanted to get rid of that to help pay for the things that we need, like infrastructure. I was attacked by the mcfadden campaign for taking that vote. Thank you gentlemen. Do i get a minute . Just one minute. Thank you, roger, i appreciate it. This is a ranking of how often am a mechanic senators foe with the majority of the senate, it is for the 113th session of congress, this is over the last two years, al franken is number one. Of thes only one member Democratic Party in the u. S. Senate, and he is number one. He is the most partisan senator in the u. S. Senate. In the Democratic Party, that is a fact. Once again, i caution you, look at reality, look at facts, not at what ill franken says. I will go to washington to fix things. I will roll up my sleeves. I have received the endorsement from the peoples Independence Party and the republican party. I have a number of reagan democrats that are supporting me. I will go to washington and build consensus. I have spent my whole life in business doing that. Thisk forward to fixing country and getting us onto the path of growth and prosperity. Both, gentlemen. We are ending the nearing of their time together. We are going to warn our broadcasters that we might go a little bit over 9 00, but we want to get time for each candidate to have closing remarks. We allow to a half minutes for each of you to wrap up this morning. Thank you, i want to thank mr. Mcfadden for being here and for mentioning it franny and i are having our 39th wedding anniversary. Franny is right there. Tomorrow we will have been married 39 years. Many of them happy. [laughter] [applause] blessed 16e were months ago with a grandson. My grandson joe. He is named for my dad. He lives in washington. My daughter and her husband doingthere and she works and heading up an Afterschool Program at adc elementary school. Dc element tree school. And one of the things that i get to do after work is but my grandson to bed. And one of the things i think about is all the possibility for him. His parents love him. They are well educated. He is what to do fine. And i think about when i grew up in st. Louis park, my dad did not graduate high school. My mom did not go to college. My debt was a printing salesman. We lived in a two bedroom, one bath rambler, very postworld war ii. I felt like the luckiest kid in the world because i was. I thought the world was my oyster. And it was. I could do anything i wanted. I think a lot of kids do not feel that way anymore i want to make sure that every kid in minnesota feels that way. That they have a shot. And that they can bet on themselves. And that they have the opportunity to get a good job. A roof over their familys head and to have access to Quality Health care and to be able to go on a vacation and have a secure retirement and that their pension will be there, and Social Security will be there. Thats what i want. I wanted minnesotas to bet on themselves. Want minnesotans to bet on themselves. Great but these bernerslees great universities to do this. Thank you. Thank you, mr. Mcfadden, final words . First of all, thank you to the moderators, you have done an honorable job. Al franken, ik really appreciate your time today, i think it is important have a chancens to hear about our vision. And i want to thank the audience. The audience has been great. I really appreciate it. You have been very respectful. And this is really an important part of the democratic process that we are able to come together and have discourse. And it is sorely lacking in this country. I am running for the u. S. Senate because we can do better. I want to go forth and set the world on fire. I am running for my six kids. I am running for the minnesotans that i have met around this great state fundamentally believe that this country is not going in the right direction. They dont believe that president obama is leading us in the right direction. And i am running against al franken, who has voted with the president s 7 of the time, he is the most partisan senator and the Democratic Party. There is a very clear contrast between us. There is not a lot of gray area. Outbreak in his for more government. He is for more regulation. Is for moren government. He is for more regulation. He is for a Education System that will work. I am for effective and efficient government. I am for smart regulation. I will get the mines opened. That is a promise. I am for lowcost energy. I will build pipelines. I have for a Health Care System that works for all of our citizens that is first class that is based here in minnesota and not run by the federal government. And i will revise the Education System in our inner cities. I make a promise to each and every one of you here in this room today that as your next senator from the great state of minnesota, i will not he invisible, and i will not keep my head down. I will keep my head high and i will lead, and i have a plan and i will be independent. I will go to washington to do something, not to be something. I will fight for you. My name is mike mcfadden, i am running for u. S. Senate. I would love to have your photo on november 4. I will love to have your vote on november 4. Thank you very much.
