The air force reserve Intelligence Officer is planning a lawsuit against the committee. He was dismissed in part because of the Time Commitment required by his duty in the major in the air force reserve, but also for resisting pressure to focus his investigation on Hillary Clinton and her state department. I would like to state that im going to vote for the republican nominee in 2016. I do not support Hillary Clinton for president. He nee needed to take time ofo serve in the air force reserve. Im obligated to serve in the air force reserve for 39 days this year. They want me to report for an exercise in march in two weeks. Ill be going on that exercise and in may they need me to report. What was the response of the Committee Staff director when you told them you had to go honor this obligation to the air force reserve . His response was one word and that word was wow. Lower case, no punctuation, nothing. Honestly, i was horrified by it. I knew he was upset. In a statement to cnn the House Committee said it denies all of his allegations. He was terminated in part because he manifested improper partiality in his investigative work. The committee went on to say that he, quote, continued to imagine a variety of outlandish never previously mentioned allegations since his departures. He dismisses the accusations and says the reasons were clear. They didnt want someone with air force reserve obligations and didnt want somebody to focussing attention away from the cia, pentagon, white house on or anywhere else except for Hillary Clinton and her state department. Do you think that the result of the committee based on what you saw will be fair, comprehensive, thorough, professional, honest . No. Its not possible. The victims families will not get the truth. And thats the most unfortunate thing about this. And i know this because the nine months of research i had done is now lost. I have no idea where it is. I know, i can give the victims families a pretty thorough explanations of why they were told this attack. I want to bring in two republican congressmen to talk about these strong allegations. And also the turmoil in the house trying to find a new republican speaker. But first we would like to say we did invite the chairman of the benghazi trey grow i dowdy respond but he declined. You saw jake tappers piece. Brad is a selfdescribed republican. He would never vote for Hillary Clinton but the investigation is political. Lets be clear what he said. He said the investigation current political according to his opinion. And when he was asked specifically if the investigation was political he said no. He said, in fact, that the investigation started properly. They were investigating what happened in benghazi, and he felt it had changed. So lets not mix this up. Because regardless hes saying the reason why he was upset is because it turned political. Yeah. No matter. He had a disagreement with the people who were doing the investigation. Remember watergate. Watergate started with an investigation about whether the Richard Nixon administration had anything to do with the break in at watergate. It ended up being you think i dont think well, thats what theyve found out. They asked questions about what Hillary Clinton did. They asked her for the emails. She wouldnt deliver the emails and they didnt know where. They didnt know if there was a smoking gun. They turned their attention to that. In fact, the only reason theres any politics or we have an investigation is because the Obama Administration and Hillary Clinton decided a few months before an election that they were going to lie about what happened in benghazi. Lets be leaclear about that. If they havent told different stories we wouldnt have an investigation. Let me read what the Clinton Campaign said. These are explosive allegations this republican whistle blowers account from inside the committee may provide proof to date that the taxpayer funded investigation has been a partisan sham from the start. You know, regardless it gives them some ammunition. It does. Its worth noting that until the last couple of weeks most of the attacks on the committee have come from the right because it was seen as being too judicious and not being partisan. Frankly, this is one where you have to look at the Committee Chairman and look at what hes done and make a judgment. Trey gowdy has personal integrity. The fact hes not here is a fact hes not trying to exploit this. He interviewed witnesses that nobody else has done and i think hes conducted himself well. Hell be under extra scrutiny going forward. At the end of the day, i have a lot of confidence in trey. Lets talk about the story there is a big void in the leadership of the house. Lets start with you, congressman cole. After Kevin Mccarthy and others dropped out you were pleading with paul ryan the ways and means chair the former Vice President ial candidate to take the job. He doesnt want the job. Do you think youll be able to convince him . I hope we can. In the end i trust paul to make the right decision. Hes got a lot of things to consider. He certainly shouldnt do it if hes not willing to embrace it. But i think this is coming to him as the logical consensus person. And having served on his committee, having known him and his family for many years, i just have enormous confidence its the right man at the right moment. But again whether or not he chooses to do that is up to him. Congressman, i know you and your fellow members of the House Freedom caucus, you have endorsed former speaker of the house. You continue to do so if paul ryan decides to come in, can you see yourself and selves as a group backing paul ryan. Paul ryan is a good friend. We have a close relationship. We have worked on a lot of issuingissu issues. We have endorsed daniel. Its not about them its about the what. What are we going to do to get 247 republicans together on the same page. What we going do so every member of the conference feels like they theyre actually valuable and doing the things they need to do. And, congressman cole, congressman labrador has been openly frustrated. Even a lot of animosity toward your friends and the leadership. John boehner is a good friend of yours. So is Kevin Mccarthy. Do you think their points and their sort of concern is valid. Yeah, i do. I think theres a lot of concern and were willing to relook at those. We should. I actually think this process, as chaotic as it looks from the outside, its difficult is a Pretty Healthy one. Right now youre saying the chaos is healthy . I actually do. I think a lot of things are being aired that probably needed to be aired. Im proud of the speaker for the actions he took. You know, he saw the need for new leadership. Im proud of mccarthy to say im the one. Well work it out. In the meantime, john boehner remains speaker while the process goes underway, and if my friend paul ryan decides to run, i think ultimately hell win. If not, its not like were going to be without the speaker. The longer it goes on, the longer john boehner its something he doesnt want. But, you know, thats just the irony of it. Its more than just about this moment and this speaker. Its about the larger discussion of the republican party. Ive heard others say theyre concerned about what this could mean for the republican chances in 2016. That this looks like republicans are in so much disarray it could hurt your chances. And to get all the things you want, whether repealing obamacare or Defunding Planned Parenthood youll need a republican in the white house. Thats the key. We want to make sure were together as a conference. We should be fighting the democrats not the republicans. Tom and i get along very well. We disagree many times. But we get along. Were friends. I think im friends with many of the people on the other side. We need to get to a point we figure out how to make the house work. Allow every member to participate. How we allow the process to work. We have to make sure we understand there are at lot of other people who can also bring the conference together. All the focus is on paul. I know, if he wants to do the job. We have other people in the conference i think could bring the conference together because they have thats why we supported daniel webster. People dont understand we had a candidate in the race who was closer to us philosophically jason chaffetz. His conservative voting record is different than mine.
