Nations own affairs. Meanwhile, donald trump unveils his tax plans with our own erin better nurnett. Let syria and isis fight. Let russians theyre in syria already let them fight isis. Breaking news out of mexico, a fugitive on the run since 1991 under arrest tonight. His name is paul jackson. He was indicted in oregon and was featured two months on cnns the hunt with john walsh and according to the u. S. Marshals task force, the hunt i played a significant role in the capture. John, good evening to you. Police say a specific tip came in right after you featured paul jackson on the hunt. Tell us about this case. What happened . Never ceases to amaze me, don. This is a good night tonight because this is a real creep. As you said, hes been out there for 25 years. Ive been trying to catch him for those 25 years. Ive featured him many times on americas most wanted and then when i got to do the hunt, the privilege of doing the hunt, i said i have got to put this guy on the show. He is wanted for multiple sexual assaults, kidnapping young women, he and his stepbrother, who is now in prison in a very odd coincidence. His stepbrother, vance roberts, turned him in in 2006 probably thinking none of these women would be around or be able to testify. But a couple of them, very brave girls that are now grown women testified and hes doing life without. And now we have paul Irvin Jackson in custody and a wonderful viewers called the marshals northwest Marshals Task force and gave the tip that took him down in guadalahara, new mexico. One of the girls, andrea hood, she had been tortured, she had been raped, she finally found a way to escape. What happened . Well, she got out. The two brothers had had her for days and they not only would grab these girls, brutalize them, but they took pictures to humiliate them, but she saw her window of opportunity and escaped for the house and got to police. People helped her, got to police and even though she was so trauma advertised, she remembered where they had held her and led police back to these guys. So they, you know, built a case against them. As they built a case against them, they found out that there were multiple victims and no one is really going to know how many of these girls that they grabbed. And the real question is how many of them didnt make it out of the house . Because sometimes they would find young teenage prostitutes that were involved in sex trafficking and those are sometimes young women that nobody is looking for. So dont know the length of their crimes or the extent of their crimes, but the good news is that this guy is off the streets, albeit 25 long years. So is this a potential murder case . You said they may not know how many people. Is this well, they dont their charges are not for murder, don. But some of the girls said, you know, we had seen other girls in the house there. When police got into their house, they had multiple photos of women bound and gagged, bruises on them, Different Things that they had done to them. So, you know, it isnt past the realm of possibility that they may have picked up some street women and, you know, if they gave them a tough, hard time, they may have killed them. So there may be something more than what they did. My question, because you dont know youre not sure what happened to those women. They never found all of them, as you said. John, what happens to paul jackson now . Paul jackson will get extradited. The mechanics kaens have been cooperate, u. S. Authorities. This shows that they went right in, grabbed this guy. I guess he had been living in a hotel. Hell get extradited back. I think hes in for a big surprise. A couple of these women, including the woman that you mentioned, really have never given up trying to get justice. They will come to that courtroom. As scary as it is and as intimidating as it is, they will testify against him and i think this guy is going to spend the rest of his life in jail where he belongs. John walsh, host of the hunt getting results again. John, thank you very much. Thanks, don. Good night tonight. Thank you. You, as well. Have a good evenings. Now i want to turn to our top political story right now. Donald trumps big reveal today, the tax plan that he says will turn our economy into a rocket. Tux sat down with erin burnett to talk about it. If you look at whats going to happen with the economy, the economy will be absolutely like a rocket. Its going to go up. This is one of my predictions. This is what im good at. This is my wheel house. I think youre going to create tremendous numbers of jobs. Part of this, and as you and i were discussing, im going to bring a lot of jobs back into the country because so many other countries have taken our jobs, thief theyve taken our base, taken our manufacturing. Were going to couple that with this tax plan. Were going to have a company that is going to rocket again. Im going put people to work. Ill be great for business and were going to have an economy that really is going to be hot. You, will you pay more money . Will it be millions and millions . Hundreds of millions . How much more will you pay . I will probably end up paying more money. But at the same time, i think the economy will do better, so ill make it up that way. But i will probably end up paying more money. I believe in the end i might do better because i believe the economy is going to go boom, beautiful. This is right up grover norqui norquists alley. He joins us now. Also william knows about this. He writes about donald trump in the deal book section of the New York Times today and also eric burnstrum, former Senior Adviser to mitt romney. How are you guys doing . Doing well. Grover. Yeah. To you first because you make people sign the tax pledge. His tax plan, he wants to slash taxes for the poor and the wealthy. There it is up on the screen. 15 tax break for business or 15 tax for business, 25 in the highest tax bracket. Do you like this . Yeah. Its a very strong, pro growth reaganite tax proposal. It introduces corporate rates. We do a lot of damage to our own people with the high business numbers we have. We send jobs overseas and this will reduce that. Its a 15 rate. The european average is 25 . Right now, were at 35 . How do we compete with european businesses when were at 35 tax, theyre at 25 . When were at 15 plus 5 state taxes, 20 , were even with britain. Were even with canada. Were even doing a little better than china. So thats okay with you, this falls in line with your tax Protection Plan . Absolutely. Its a very strong pro growth policy. William one next. Nearly half of all americans would pay no income tax under trumps plan. Whats your thought on that . I dont like that because right now its about 35 of americans pay no federal tax. So this would increase that to 50 paying no federal tax. Every american appeals pays sales tax. But we have to be pulling the boat in the same direction. We all have to have skin in the game. If 50 of americans pay no federal tax, as small as it is and im not talking about them paying a lot of federal tax, just something to contribute to our overall well being well, here is what we got from them. This is the tax policy center. They said around 45 of americans already dont pay income taxes, so i mean, is that i was using trumps number from his press conference today. Eric, do you think thats a big thats not that big of a change, is it . Look, daurn, i think its important to first point out i love what republicans like donald trump, jeb bush and marco rubio are talking about in terms of cutting rates to increase growth in the economy. Compare that to the democrats, people like Hillary Clinton who want to raise taxes on the shortterm rate on Capital Gains. Look at Bernie Sanders wants to add 18 trillion in new federal programs. Thats going to be a wet blanket on the economy. With trump, i would say two things. Number one is anytime donald trump can put meat on the bones when it comes to policy, thats going to help him with primary voters who might have previously thought that he was all talk and no action. Plus, hes not going to win this nomination without the support of fiscal conservatives and i think this plan is going to help him. I think one of the most effective lines of attacks against coming from rubio and bush, along the lines that he has no policy. Was he specific in this enough, did he get specific enough for you, williams . Where does he need to get more detail . No, no. The good news for donald today was that for the first time in his whole campaign, he was substantive. Give him marks for that. Actually, if you peel it back, it is very fuzzy, like much of what donald says, it is very fuzzy. He has some good points. Reoperating 3. 5 trillion in foreign accounts that should be repatriated back here. That is not a bad idea. How does that help the economy . First of all, it brings that money back and would reduce the deficit by 250 million. If you spend it, no sn . But if theres a 10 tax, the rest of it comes back here and goes into the economy. Ill give him high marks for that and for simplifying the tax code. But one of the things hes been critical about barack obama for is the 19 trillion budget deficit that now exists in washington. But the donald would increase that by another 10 trillion. Thats not fiscal responsibility. Thats fiscal irresponsibility. Grover, do you agree with that, that this repatriation of money will come back into the economy . Do you think william is right in his assessment about Donald Trumps plan . The center for tax justice is a labor union supported left of center group that opposes every tax cut thats ever been proposed in american history. That doesnt make them wrong. They have been wrong. Throughout history, they misjudged the entire reagan growth, which is 4 a year with the growth weve had under the obama recovery is 2 a year. The french level. If we go back to 4 a year, and this is what trump and the other republicans are saying, if you grow at 4 a year for a decade instead of 2 for a year for a decade, thats 5 trillion higher revenue for the federal government. Those are the u. S. Government numbers on how important growth is. So getting to a pro growth economy, to a tax policy which creates jobs, if we had grown during this recovery at the same rate that reagan did, there would be 12 million americans today who are unemployed at work. Thats the damage of lousy economic policies. And trump and the republicans are moving in the right direction. Wont there, grover, have to be hard decisions about how to pay for existing programs or no . Well, there should be on the spending side. But on the tax side, if you again, if you simply change tax policy and grow at 4 instead of 2 a year, the government ends up with 5 trillion more in revenue. Thats because more people working pay more in taxes. We have very low job participation in this recovery that we have now. Thats why both revenue under the government and the economy are doing so poorly. Okay. Eric, some are calling this youve heard it all day. Its a populist plan. Is that the case, do you think . Is this trickle down economics or as erin burnett told me earlier, its supply side, but if you dont like it, its trickle down economics. I think theyre calling it a populous plan because of the more controversial elements of it. He wants to raise taxes on private equity managers. On the one hand, i cant think of a group thats vulnerable as a tax target than wall street. But on the other hand, you dont want people like Elizabeth Warren going around the country, as she has been, praising Donald Trumps plan to raise taxes. Thats not going to play well with the republican base. All in all, i think he has a plan that is pretty close to what free market conservatives like grover are going to be looking for. Don, i think that the tax on private equity guys is a head fake on donalds part. Hes lowering the top tax rate to 25 , which is going to and then he told erin burnett tonight web thauld he would pay more in taxes. I dont see how donald trump would ever pay more in taxes if the top rate is 39 . Muss hes cutting to Capital Gains rate, as well. So this is bonanza for the rich people of america thats under the guise of somehow being populist and its not the slightest pit populist in my estimation except it allows another 16 of the u. S. Population not to pay taxes. I think its interesting that someone like Grover Norquist is in agreement with this. That says a lot about where this goes next. Thank you, gentlemen. I appreciate you joining this evening. Ill see you back here soon on cnn. Thank you. Im going to sit down with donald trump, oneonone, right here wednesday night on cnn. Make sure you tune in. Wednesday night, me and donald trump. When we coy coming right back, president barack obama and Vladimir Putin mead for an hour and a half behind closed doors at the u. N. Are they any closer to an agreement on how to fight isis . Just might be the one. To clean the oceans, to start a movement, or lead a country. It may not be obvious yet, but one of these kids is going to change the world. We just need to make sure she has what she needs. Welcome to windows 10. The future starts now for all of us. Well, well. If it isnt the belle of the ball. Gentlemen. You look well. Whats new, flo . Well, a name your price tool went missing last week. Name your what, now . It gives you Coverage Options based on your budget. I just hope whoever stole it knows that it only works at progressive. Com. So, you cant use it to just buy stuff . No. Im sorry, gustav. We have to go back to the pet store. [ gustav squawks ] hes gonna meet us there. The name your price tool. Still only at progressive. Com. Still not sure whether to stay or go on that business trip . Should i stay or should i go well this fall stay with Choice Hotels two times and earn a free night. When it comes to business, you always have a choice. Book now at the new choicehotels. Com president obama at the United Nations today. In his draws, he called syrian president assad a tyrant who has to go. And he met privately this evening with russian president Vladimir Putin. The first time these two have met in two years. What do you think that meeting was like . Well, i think it was probably very business like. By which i mean to say that both intelligent people. Putin is a perfectly smart, intelligent, rationale person. But there is no love loss. There is no relationship. There is no warmth. You know, sometimes the psychology of all this is not that important. But its worth probably pointing out that there is no there is no chemistry here. You think its important in this case, the psychology of it . I dont think its that important because the real reason why it was when a dictator slaughters tens of thousands of his affect us all. It was called an enormous mistake to refuse to cooperate with the Syrian Government and its own forces. It seems like president obama is clearly right as a matter of morality. The assad regime is absolutely despicable. The problem here is if you use the rhetoric of president obama, assad must go, this man is a butcher, youre not using any means to back that up. Youre making these grand, lofty pronouncements. This has been the problem with americas syrian strategy from the start. We have these grand goals and we have puny means, were training 50 people, were doing a little bit of bombing. Were maybe thinking about small pockets of safe havens. That is going to deal with this. What are you doing about it . So i think that president obama has to really decide if assad is as bad as he claims and if it is in the vital interests of the United States to get writ of him, he needs to do more. If he doesnt want to do that much, i think he needs to dial back the rhetoric and the expectations because hes putting himself in a situation where hes going to have to do more. This weekend one spoke to former president bill clinton and he talked to us about this iran deal. Lets watch this. I believe the Nuclear Agreement with iran is on balance and the right thing to do because i dont believe that an Iranian Nuclear capacity now would be just iran. I think there would be one to four other states that would get Nuclear Power in the middle east. Then i think you would have a race on by all these various nonstate factors to get material and it could be a nightmare. I also think ten years is a very long time. A lot of people think, well, ten years from now, theyre going to do what theyre doing now. In 1979, if somebody had told you that the berlin wall would fall, that warsaw pact would collapse, the associate union would come to an end in ten years, nobody would have believed that. So a lot can happen in ten years. Furthermore, even with the sanctions on, the iranians kept supporting their conventional military build up and the terrorist capacity of hezbollah. I think on balance, this is going to be a have thing, but its very important to be tough in enforcing it. So rouhani today blamed the military invasion of afghanistan, the militaryled invasion of afghanistan and iraq and our support for israel for spreading terrorism in the middle east. No wonder this is a controversial deal. Precisely. Because iran and the United States have been they are opposed to a lot of things we do. Rouhani is essentially wrong in his statement, but it shows you they see the middle east very differently than the United States does. That reality exists. It existed before the nuclear issue, it will exist after it. It doesnt change the fact that this is probably the best way to prevent iran from going down a nuclear path for the next 10 to 15 years. Nobody else came one a better alternative. It doesnt mean we dont have, you know, interests that are fundamentally opposed which well have to deal with the way we always have to. Better to deal with a nonnuclear iran than a nuclear iran. Up next, not even a lunchtime toast at the u. N. Could hide the tense relations right now between president obama and Vladimir Putin. Were going to talk about that with New York Times columnist nick frisco. Ah, give me a problm and ive got the solution. Well, we have 30 years of customer records. Our cloud can keep them safe and accessible anywhere. My drivers dont have tim
