Britain. Theresa may dont focus on me, focus on the destructive radical islamic terrorism. At least one lawmaker is going further, and new comments from the british Prime Minister. Reporter the sense here in britain is that President Trump made it very personal after yesterday appearing to promote a right wing fascist, and we are waiting for the Prime Minister to respond. She has been traveling in the middle east and is putting the best face on this, because, of course, she has aligned herself closely with President Trump, being the first world leader to go and see him after his inauguration in washington, and she was quickly there in days and has taken political heat for that back home and now shes describing a special relationship that is something that is going to endure this current situation. Look, i made my position clear on the tweets that i have seen from President Trump, but let me be clear about the relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, its a longterm relationship and enduring relationship and its there because its in both of our National Interests for that relationship to be there. Reporter its going to be something of an endurance test while President Trump is in the white house, and thats the sentiment we have heard from british pms, and we heard from the london mayor who described President Trumps tweets in that britain First Organization as President Trump promoting the values, the vile values of that extremist organization. Hes gone on as well to tweet on the subject, and i will read you that because its very illuminating, of course, criticizing during a terror attack in london last summer, and he said i made my position clear on the tweets i have seen from donald trump, but let me be clear on the relationship between us and the uk, that is a longterm this is what theresa may has been saying, and one said he is sewing hatred in our country and its clear any official visit from President Trump to Great Britain would not be welcomed. We heard that from other mps on the house of commons today, and we heard if President Trump comes he should be arrested. Of course, earlier this year, 1. 8 Million People in britain signed a petition soon after theresa may came back from the meeting with President Trump in january signing a petition saying president s trump welcome should be rescinded. All of that earlier this year, and now this on top of it. Much more on this developing story coming up. Meanwhile, overnight, Major Players talking in the russia investigation. Does it mean a major deal is in the works . Cnn was the first to report that the president s soninlaw, Jared Kushner, has been speaking to the special counsel. There are signs fired National Security adviser flynn may be cooperating with the special counsel. Thats not all. Moments ago the attorney general of the United States sat down before the house intelligence committee, and you can see him arriving a few minutes ago on capitol hill, and Jeff Sessions has had to correct his past testimony about meetings with russian interests, and we will follow todays hearings and let you know if it runs in line with what he said before because that has been a problem. Lets go to evan perez, and hes part of the team that broke the kushner story and has details for us. This is one of the most anticipated interviews in the russian investigation. Sources tell us early November Kushner sat down with an interview with investigators from muellers office. The questions kushners answered were focused on whether former National Security adviser, flynn, and kushners attorney told us, quote, mr. Kushner voluntarily cooperated with all relevant enquiries and will continue to do so. The kushner interview, were told, lasted about 90 minutes, according to one person familiar with the meeting. Investigators appeared to be trying to see if kushner had any information that exonerates Michael Flynn, and kushner worked closely with flynn during the transition in the early days of the administration, john. Very interesting. Evan perez, we will talk more about what this means in a moment. Thanks, evan. Thats kushner and flynn. Lets talk now about Jeff Sessions. We go to capitol hill, manu, whats the latest . Reporter Jeff Sessions just arrived moments ago for the closeddoor classified hearing before the intelligence committee, and i tried to ask him if he was going to vote for roy moore in the Senate Election to fill his seat in alabama, and he said hello and continued to walk. Surprisingly did not answer that question. Republicans are not happy with the justice departments refusal to comply with several subpoenas that were issued earlier this year, including looking into the fbi relationship that may have existed with that british agent, christopher steele, that put together the infamous dossier with the trump and russia connections. And they suggested they could hold them in contempt over this matter, and democrats are going to continue to press sessions over his context with russians during the campaign season. Some of those he did not disclose initially, and before other congressional committees, john, he has said repeatedly when asked about the context, he said he did not recall and it was innocuous, and expect a lot of the same answers today but doesnt mean democrats wont press him about the detail of the interaction as well. Theres more testimony later today, eric prince, the onetime mercenary will testify. What is that about . Yeah, hes a former blackwater founder and somebody who has been close to the Trump Administration, trump himself. Back in january 2017, it was believed he wanted to create a backdoor channel, and he said that was not the case and he said he was not sent by the Trump Administration to do that. This will be the first time he actually testified under oath about that meeting, and expect a lot of questions about that, and as well as any Major Players within trumps universe, like Jared Kushner had any knowledge of the meeting and whether they put him up to it, and there will be details because people have questions about that particular meeting from earlier this year, john. All right, keep us posted, manu. Joining us now, attorney for the nsa. I want to talk about the Jared Kushner developments, because that seems like a big deal and we just learned that overnight, and Jared Kushner has been speaking with the special counsel, and this could be good for Jared Kushner and bad for Michael Flynn. First off explain the reasoning and tell me if you think it holds water. The story that appears to be connected to kushner and its about whether kushner has information relevant to the flynn investigation, and thats an indication that maybe special counsel mueller is not focused on kushner himself. Thats a little bit at attention with other individuals that have been interviewed by the special counsel reported, muellers team was asking associates of kushners a lot of detailed questions about kushners relationship with flynn and his role in the firing of james comey, and that obstruction of justice investigation is related to Michael Flynn. Its unclear what is going on. Theres a way to tell a good news story about what is going on with kushner, and hes clearly voluntarily cooperating and thats a sign hes not overly nervous at this point, and theres a more troubling story as well. I want to get to Michael Flynn in a moment but lets stick with kushner here. Would his lawyers try to set conditions with this sitdown, saying we will cooperate as long as the questions are only about Michael Flynn . His lawyers are going to be trying to control the interactions and set the parameters. One of the challenges we have seen the trump team run into again and again, there are two investigations going on here. Theres a number of investigations coming out of congress and then theres the special counsel investigation. What we are seeing is different information about what the two parallel investigations are learning, and those different groups that are not necessarily communicating with each other are trying to make their stories match. That puts the individuals who are sort of the subject or focus of the investigation in a very, very difficult position, really raises the importance of keeping their story straight as they talk to lots and lots of different people, and often times under oath. This seems to be the season of Michael Flynn now. We know that his lawyers cut off cooperation with the president s team, and we learned that a grand jury postponed testimony that had to do with Michael Flynn and now we know Jared Kushner is testifying about Michael Flynn. Where does it tell you where the special counsel is and what he might want or accept from Michael Flynn . We dont know for sure Michael Flynn is cooperating, but all signs are starting to point to that, that hes either attempting to have a Cooperation Agreement or attempting to work something out with special counsel mueller. That certainly raises the stakes for the other individuals in trump world. Notably what we are see something not dissimilar from what we saw in the weeks leading up to Paul Manaforts indictment. So lots of sort of focus and scrutiny, you know, potentially cooperation and then the indictment came. One thing we heard from Paul Manafort is he was informed he would be indicted ahead of time and we have not heard anything like that from the flynn camp yet, and all signs point to the idea that maybe hes still seeking a deal or maybe hes already gotten one. We dont know what that deal is for, what he would give in return. Thats the big unknown. Always great to have you. Behind door number three, a debate that will affect every american. The final countdown over the tax bill, and will cut taxes for the wealthy but raise taxes for some as well. Suzanne malveaux on capitol hill tracking the latest developments there. Reporter good morning, john. The debate clock continues ticking at 10 30, and thats when it started in earnest on the senate side late yesterday, they got 20 hours. 16 1 2 hours left to go after the debate process, and thats when it goes to the full floor for a vote. Republicans need 52 yes votes on the senate side. There are six republicans who still have concerns over the tax plan. What are they . What are the obstacles here . Lets take a look at the fiscal trigger. Thats the idea that republicans are promising huge Economic Growth going to pay for the 1. 5 trillion big tax plan, and if it doesnt happen what happens next . This automatic trigger kicks in and snaps back the cut tax rates and it puts a hold on the whole thing. Is that going to happen . Thats something that senators bob corker and jeff flake are looking at and promoting. And the pass through rate, this is the idea that partnerships that file on the individual side, what are the rates here . Initially it was 17. 4 , and it has been increased to 20 . There are still senators that say lets raise that higher, that tax credit to 27 for some of the smaller business entities. The other issue, the child tax credit. This has doubled since this process began, it was 1,000 now its 2,000. Senator marco rubio wants it fully refundable and that will cost money. You will look at other amendments as well as promises of other legislation such as repealing the obamacare individual mandate, and all of these things will have to be paid for and thats something we want to take a close look at, in order for this to pass on with a simple majority it has to come under the 1. 5 trillion costs, otherwise they will not be able to get it to pass through the simple majority process. Suzanne malveaux on capitol hill, keep us posted. Thank you. We have more breaking news this morning, and it concerns senator al franken and a new accuser. We have breaking news on democratic senator al franken, a new woman, number five now, coming forward with accusations of inappropriate touching. Reporter her name is stephanie kemplin, she was deployed in kuwait in 2003 where she met senator franken for the first time and it was while he was there on a uso tour to visit american troops, and she took a photo with him. This is how stephanie described that interaction. She said when he put his arm around me, he kept his hands all the way over on my right breast, and i kept thinking was it an accident . Was he going to move his hand . And the touching lasted at least in five seconds, and she managed to shift her body so his hand was no longer on her breast. You can see senator frankens hand is on her right side. Now she tells me she was ashamed and feeling embarrassed and she was in shock and that at the time she did not say anything to the senator, and i will also note part of the reason her story is compelling is because weeks before she had met franken and had this interaction, she was also the victim of a Sexual Assault by a fellow soldier abroad with her, and we reached out to senator frankens office last night, and they gave this statement. As you noted, john, the bigger context here is that stephanie is the fifth woman to come out with allegations of inappropriate touching and also the second woman to say that this kind of behavior while he was on tour, and the first woman was the california local news anchor, and stephanie tells me shes part of the reason that she decided to speak out herself. John. M. J. Lee, thank you so much. Joining us now is chris stuart of utah, and proposed new legislation that deals with sexual harassment. Can i get your reaction to the latest news on senator franken . Its just wrong. I dont care who you are, senator, congressman, being in a position of power doesnt excuse this type of behavior, and its become pervasive. We have intimidated and shamed these women into silence. If somebody touched one of my daughters like this, i would reign hell down on them and i would not poopoo it away. Its just wrong. Should senator franken step down . I think anybody who has credible accusations against him and admitted to those accusations, i dont think they should be serving in a position of responsibility such as the house of representatives or the u. S. Senate. Congressman, you did propose legislation today that deals with accusations inside the house of representatives, and what it would do is prohibit n nondiscloser agreements as a condition for legal settlements. Explain. Its silly. If somebody has a complaint like this the first thing they have to do is sign a nondisclosure agreement. Thats nuts. Why would we force them into silence . If the victim wants this to be private and dont want their name released, we should protect their integrity and privacy in that case. But on the other hand, if they want it to be public and hold somebody accountable like many of them do, why do we force them into signing a nondisclosure. It doesnt make sense to me. Lets allow them the choice. If they want to have the court of public opinion, i think they should have this option and thats what this legislation does. By the way, one other thing, i dont think its good for the perpetrator to be able to hide behind that cloak of secrecy, and i dont think s
