As well. This is far above party. This is about our constitution, and its about our democracy. Whether or not there was foreign influence in our elections. Hold your thought on that, i want you to take a look at another poll question, when you talk about this not being a partisan issue, this poll found democrats, 80 believe russia tried to influence last years election. Look at that, just 33 of republicans who were polled think so. Why is this becoming a partisan issue . We need the president to put the affairs of the country before his own personal issues, and we need the president in this position to be saying we need to get to the bottom of this, i am going to be doing everything i can. Were going to do everything we can to make sure we get the facts. Are you surprised one in five democrats still dont believe its a big deal . No, i dont think, so i think everybody is really trying to absorb these whats going on. And i have to tell you, its difficult to keep up with it, but i think the reality is, there is a need for information thats what were trying to get to is the facts. We need democrats and republicans to stand up, and those republicans in the house and the senate who dont stand up and say, we at least need to get this information, they are enabling our democracy and constitution to be undermined, thats really what our resolutions of inquiry are designed to get at the house Judiciary Committee is the only committee of jurisdiction that has not held a single hearing. The Senate Judiciary hearing has. I swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution, and im going to continue to try to push our chairman to actually address this issue, lets have people in, and get to the bottom of this, lets make sure we dont say we dont have any jurisdiction over it, we do, and its our responsibility to the American People. There are multiple congressional investigations underway already, you dont think those are sufficient . No, its always been written that numerous committees have authority in these situations. We have jurisdiction over the constitution. The amonthly u meants clause was put there because our founders were so concerned about foreign influences on our president , on our administration. You need to exercise that jurisdiction. Both sides of the aisle said we need to be pursuing this investigation to its fullest. Obviously these other intelligence committees, both the senate and house committees have discussed calling everybody who was involved in that latest meeting that was revealed between donald trump jr. And a couple of the other campaign aids as well as these russians who we learned were at the meeting, caught all those people before the committees to testify. Of the different characters who were a part of that meeting, with he know there were up to 8 people in the room. Who do you think provides the most crucial testimony . Thats a difficult question. Jared kushner is going to be important. Donald trump jr. Is probably has already given us a lot of information thats disturbing. His reaction and response to the initial inquiry should have been to call the fbi, instead he said, i love it. Give me that information, i love it, but i think really were looking at every one of these people you have up on the screen is going to provide critical flfgs. Certainly donald trump jr. Jared kushner and manafort are going to be critical in there. But the russian side of the equation and what they do or dont say is going to be very important as well. Theres a new line of defense from the president s lawyer on this don jr. Meeting with the russians. The secret service shouldnt have allowed these people in if they were so nefarious. Whats your reaction to that . My reaction is, that i wish the president and his attorneys would just put the country first. Instead of thinking about their own personal protection, and how they protect themselves against whatever might be coming forward, we need them to actually start to talk about whats right for democracy and whats right for the American People. Its troubling to me they continue to put up lines of defense. The idea that anybody would take this meeting. I thought david french said it best when he said, no, its not okay to take that meeting, its not okay to take that meeting, that is a clear indication of foreign influence, i think that what were trying to do is get to the bottom of the facts, if theres nothing to hide, let us get the information, there may be nothing here, but at least let us understand and investigate that so that we can put this issue to bed and make sure were preserving our constitution and democracy. I wonder why the secret Service Allowed these people in, if this was nefarious. The president had secret Service Protection at that point. That raised a question with me. Do you think the secret service is to blame for allowing that meeting to happen . No, i dont. The president s lawyer is there to defend him through and through. Im not here to defend anyone, youre asking for my thoughts. I think it was a mistake, the meeting, of course. I think that it was handled incorrectly, were talking about donald jr. Who is not a member of this administration whatsoever. Jared kushner was at the meeting, he is a member of the administration, he did fill out security clearance forms and nondisclosure meetings at least three times. From what i understand, he actually before this reporting happened, he amended that, to report this meeting. What i will say is, same thing, if someone did something wrong, if there was something here that was illegal, okay, hold them accountable. And the proper authorities will do that, the proper authorities when they come on here, and talk about treason and all this crazy ridiculousness. That is the issue with whats going on right here, i think whats bad for the American People and how politicized this is, again, someone does something wrong, hold them accountable. What the real issue is here. Does this white house not take responsibility . The evidence is black and white on the paper that don junior went into this meeting thinking he was going to get dirt on clinton. It was a meeting with a russian government lawyer, and it was an effort on behalf of the russian government to help his father during the election. Im not asking whether it was illegal, im asking whether theres a sense of responsibility in owning thats what was believed to be going into this meeting. There are a lot of things that happen on campaigns, the dnc sought Ukrainian Information between the president. Youre not talking about that, you should be. But if theres something if something needs to happen, they should be accountable. Whats bad for the American People right now, you have folks coming on here saying its treason, treason, treason. And you have folks in the administration not coming clean with everything. No question, what youre missioning here, what the American People are missing here is a policy that says to other nations around the world, they will not interfere with our election. No ones talking about that and they should be. There should be repercussions and consequences for any country that tries to deal with the integrity of our elections. It passed quickly in the senate, 982. Almost unanimous. It stalled in the house now. Clearly on any kind of legislation, the senate has an idea the house has an idea. I do think there will be sanctions against russia for trying to attempt to meddle in our election i think theyre working on the actual verbiage of the sanctions themselves. I believe that they were attempting to mess with our election, i do i think other countries are as well. It doesnt help if you have folks simply using that as a political baseball bat to hit the president and the president not taking it super seriously, because he has the democrats saying treason and stuff like that.
