cnn's anna cabrera live in arlington, washington. really tight knit communities. i can only imagine they're reeling. >> reporter: everybody is just heart broken, as you can imagine, but really pulling together with such strength and grace in this community during tough times, michaela. they're calling this a rescue and recovery operation. they acknowledge it's been four days since the landslide hit, haven't heard any signs of human life since saturday, but they believe in miracles and they're moving forward with the search with that sense of purpose and determination. but you do get a sense in this community that there is a cloud of grief that is now permeating the area. >> it's horrible because i know she's down there under the mud in the dark. >> reporter: it has been the darkest four days of rae smith's life. >> my heart is broken. it's broken.
