Outgoing chair Debbie Wasserman schultz was nowhere to be found, and she had relinquished the honor to stephanie rawlingsblake. Wasserman schultz handed over that gavel under pressure. Supporters of sanders were wikileaks after the are afternoon, and they saying that her resignation does not go far enough. Bernie sanders addresses delegates not far from here, where it is clear that sanders supporters are not as ready to stand with clinton as he is. John, do they have enough in their arsenal to stop this from dominating the week . John that is a very large question. This is a starstudded lineup, unlike what we saw in cleveland, and just tonight alone we have in the primetime hour Michelle Obama kicking things off at 10 00, Elizabeth Warren, the keynote speaker named this morning, Bernie Sanders, a very important speech in terms of this very question. And then bill clinton and joe ,iden, barack obama, tim kaine and Hillary Clinton. There is a lot of firepower, but there is still a lot of upset. Supporterse sanders say you want a revolution, but now, lets get in line. It does not take much to disrupt the proceedings, and while Bernie Sanders is going to try to bring people together, what you see on the streets of philadelphia, the ongoing questions about the emails. Who would think that Bernie Sanders would be a more unifying person other than Debbie Wasserman schultz . I do not know how they are going to do this tonight, because they for what we have seen, the sanders delegates are not going to yield. Since otherally than cory booker, there is not a lot of firepower, so you have hours of potential disharmony. Until you get to this big, progressive speakers, and those four, adding booker on to the four i mentioned before sanders, the people did not yield, and they are powerless. They are not interested in tradition. In unitynot interested for unitys sake. It is interesting to overstate the possibilities, but if you are the planners coming have to say that a lot of the bandwidth of today and into tomorrow at least will be dealing with these twin controversies. John there is a lot to be said about the analogy, like in 2008, a lot of sanders supporters will come to Hillary Clinton, and a lot of clinton supporters went to barack obama, but what we are hearing right now is more disharmony on the floor than you heard of the entire time in the denver convention. Emotion is the hardest thing to stop and harness and corral. I was at that Bernie Sanders event, and many of his supporters were it open revolt. Theyis a taste of how reacted to the mere mention of her name by their euro. Mr. Sanders when we began this campaign a little over a year ago, we were considered to be french by the establishment and the Corporate Media area media. Well, one year has come and gone. The chair of the convention struggled to get through the normal procedural votes just moments ago is the overwhelming cheers and boos. Mark, can Bernie Sanders get his supporters in life, or is it beyond his control . They urged people to calm down. Sanders supporters are chanting, lock her up, which was populared the most thing at the republican convention. There are other things that will be newsmaking, but the early indications, clinton supporters trying to chant on behalf of her, trying to drown out the sanders supporters, and now we hear the bernie chants again. Be easilynot pacified. It will be interesting to see if sanders makes a more direct appeal that this afternoon to try to get them in line, but i think some of them are coming in line. Two backse are factory at the supporters who end up voting democratic, but the people who are here, you can orl them dead enders diehards or true believers. They are the hardest of hardcore. The other thing that is true the as of this afternoon, Bernie Sanderss speech was not done. It was not even close to done, and i think they are adjusting that speech on the fly to do with the situation that is much more volatile than we expected to see. Mark even though Debbie Wasserman schultz is gone, that galvanize them and gave them a weekend to discuss their outrage, not just the offensive emails about Bernie Sanders but the notion that what they said all along is that the fix is in. John some are saying there is nothing new here. It just proves what we already knew. It has been gasoline poured on hot embers, and there are plumes of smoke. Rk you know what . It did represent the Democratic Party. All right. All we are asking so that was the first event where a prominent speaker was basically shouted down, and then came Bernie Sanders. Word her to resign. Think as you all know, it Debbie Wasserman schultz resigned yesterday. Her resignation opens up the possibility of new leadership at the top of the Democratic Party that will stand with working people. This will open the doors to the party for those people who want real change. Mark later today, Wasserman Schultz gave up the last role to, openingd clug and closing the convention, but they were still considering keeping her involved in the proceedings. Someone talking about this at bloomberg this morning hosted by al hunt. It was her decision to step down. Al that was her decision. It was her decision. John why is it right for her to and on the Convention Stage have a role Going Forward . I think the chairwoman, as i said, has served for five years. She has put in a lot of work. Mark there continued to be disruptions, with Bernie Sanders supporters continuing to chance on a regular basis, and you will hear that, so we will keep following that. I get that Debbie Wasserman schultz has been a fundraiser, about the only thing she has done well as chairwoman, but this was on either in private conversation or public conversation, i could not get an answer. They are afraid of her, afraid of what she would say if they cut her out to they are afraid if she ise would say taken out, because she did not want to give this up, and someday, they will write a book about how they got her to give up the gavel. And you can hear them still behind us. About whetherons russian authorities and maybe even Vladimir Putin himself are trying to meddle in the United States election. That is the theory that the Clinton Campaign has been floating consistently for the past two days, and we heard it , and we go back to that very same bloomberg politics. Hack intof all, the the dnc was perpetrated by russian state hackers, and second of all, considering the tax related release of these emails and the fact that it was russian state hackers that had these emails, experts have been inferring that it was the russians who perpetrated this league for the purpose of helping donald trump and hurting Hillary Clinton. Again, that is not my point of view. That is what experts are telling us. John so earlier today, donald trump dismissed this whole notion on twitter, his favorite media. That russia leak to be disastrous dnc emails, which should never have been written, likes me. Cause putin the fbi has since announced that they are launching a probe into this. So my question for you, mark, what do you think about this russian angle . Are russian hackers, but they did not have a secure system. It gives them a talking point, a way to try to create misdirection, and it does raise the obvious international notion of the russians trying to interfere with the outcome of our elections, so it is a huge story, and it does not take away from the fact that the dnc did a horrible thing. John it seems to me, on the nger and what sa others say, there is a pretty credible case of russia. With the timing, that they are trying to meddle in this, and the truth is that donald trump putin, and vladimir latimer has praised donald trump, and then there is paul manafort. Putin has made his position clear, and it seems like that is what is going on. You cannot blame them like they are colluding, but i think there is a pretty good argument that that is what is happening. All right, we will talking about that. And we will be talking about the Bernie Sanders campaign manager. We will ask him to preview the speech and tell us what the heck is going on on the floor right now, right after this. He did galvanize it, yes. He became the face of the movement. But this is never about one candidate or one campaign. John if the movement now has a mind of its own, what does it matter . Jeff he is extremely influential to the people who supported him, and he is laying out the case about why we need to support Hillary Clinton and defeat donald trump. I think that is very persuasive to a lot of people. The speech is not done yet. I you adding things about senator sanders . Jeff as you know, they write this speech is up to the last moment. is he aware that this is unexpectedly volatile . I would not call it unexpectedly volatile. I would not use that description. John when he says i support Hillary Clinton, half of the Convention Hall booing . Jeff we do not expect that to happen. John why . On the basis of what we saw today, i would think that would happen. Jeff that room was not just delicates. There were delegates and others, and i think the delegates are a subset. His do you think that endorsement of tim kaine was honest . Jeff i think it was. It is important to point out that whatever reservations people have about tim kaine, on his worst day, to paraphrase, he is 100 times better than donald trump, so, yes. Mark you are a pretty guy. But i think the news, the email dump this past weekend really put the fine points on that dissatisfaction, and it has become too much of a distraction. Stepping down eliminates that distraction before it gets.
