Staying with video games, activision posted secondquarter results. Those are the top headlines. Targets of the Second Quarter profit falling below the estimates, showing that retailers are still reeling from those hackers last year. My next guest says that they are able to detect cyberattacks a realtime. Vectra networks announced 25 million in its latest round of funding. Condoleezza rice is an advisor. Joining me now is hitesh sheth from san francisco. Thank you for being here. Tell us about how Vectra Networks works. Thank you for having me. The fundamental issue that our customers face is that if you look at the security landscape, every Single Network is breached today. That is a data point that most would have disputed years ago. But none will today. Every single vendor is focused on prevention, how do you stop an attack in the first place. We empower our customers to enable them to detect cyberattacks and they are happening in real time. How do you do that . Is there some special Testing Software that youre able to overlay on top of a Corporate Network . Right. We sit in the heart of the Corporate Network, and our system looks at data traffic and we look at all of the packets coming through. There is no sampling involved. We apply very sophisticated Machine Learning and data on rhythms that essentially understand what normalcy looks like, and then as a result we are able to identify anomalies and anomalies that point to malware in action at a point in a network. Once those anomalies are located, what would happen . That would send a message to the Technology Professionals on a company . Do you offer a repair service . We do a couple of things. First of all we do not report the event to the customers, one of the Biggest Issue is that theres no sense of prioritization. Our system is predisposed to alerting the customer on advance that are of the highest order of threat so they know where to spend their time and resources. We also provide a tremendous amount of context so they have all the necessary data with which to take the actions required to mitigate the threat. Speak about the context of your advisors. You have condoleezza rice. How do they offer you and your customers the added insight they bring . We actually are very fortunate to have a Fabulous Group of advisers, an incredible investors and board of directors. They are advising us on how to take our business into the international market. That is the core focus. As a business. What i found with them is they are an Incredible Group of people to provide us with is this advice on how to scale our business effectively. We also have other folks on our board, like the gentleman who ran the president s campaign in 2012. At the end of the day, cyberattacks do not have party affiliation. Assembling the right group of people around us has been key. That is evidenced by the fact that excel led the investment. We have been really fortunate to have khosla ventures, they have been very instrumental in helping us drive the company. They have been tremendous supporters. What role will the company play in Government Systems to prevent cyberattacks . The issues that any Government Network is going to face is not that different than any large enterprise. In an enterprise network, all network for that matter, they have to develop a multilayered strategy to deal with separate attacks. To date one of the fundamental issues that we have had is that i. D. Systems focus on prevention. That has been the focus for security ventures as well. What is essential Going Forward is that customers focus not just on prevention but are really proactive in understanding attacks as they are happening in their infrastructure. That is true for the government and the general enterprise as well. Is there a decision that needs to be made at the top levels of Government Systems that balances the need to deal with potential attacks but also the desire on the part of governments to look inside networks and to collect information to secure their own citizens . This whole issue of privacy that is in the publics mind is a very relevant point. From our experience what i can tell you is that you absolutely do not need to cross the line and look into the content of peoples emails. You can address this very effectively by applying data signs to packet traffic without having to pry into peoples content. The government can do the same thing. Thank you for enlightening us. Hitesh sheth is the director of Vectra Networks. Coming up, we will find out how independent filmmakers are faring in this environment. We will talk with footprint features. We will also take a look at why the sales of the sparkling white wine are outpacing champagne. This is taking stock on bloomberg. I am pimm fox. Hollywoods big screen releases are on track to match last years pace. How do independent films fare in this world . Lets ask the head of footprint features, adam saunders. His new movie comes out this friday. Good to have you with me. Lets explain for people what your role is at footprint features. Thank you for having me. I also wanted to say one thing because i know screen media will want me to, we are being distributed in the u. S. By screen media and sony. My role, i am the ceo and i need to be the general manager of the football team. I find the material, option the material, acquire it and work with the writer if need be. I hire the director, work with the direct or to hire the cast, raise all of the financing. Lets stop with the concept of raising the financing. What kind of challenge do you face . There are a lot of people in hollywood who want to make movies. How did you finance about alex . This movie is small enough that we were able to do it through equity and soft money which means we shot in the state of new york and new york gives us very competitive tax rates. The rest is raised through equity. I go around with my dog and pony show and i have a full presentation of comparable films and how they did and the various Revenue Streams we project them to do. We go through the presentation and try to raise money from individuals. Talk about the subject matter of about alex. It is basically about how social media has changed our friendships. We live in a time where we can follow people on facebook, twitter, instagram, and we think we know what is going on with those people and we really do not. We had an incredible script that is very timely and beautiful. When i read it, i had not read anything that was so specific to this moment in time that i thought audiences would respond to. You have to keep going after this movie comes out on friday. Tell us about the plans for footprint features. Keep making them. The next movie we are doing is a film called when we first met. It is like 500 days of summer meets groundhog day. A guy tried to pick up a girl and failed, so he goes back and does it over and over again. We want to have equity for next four films, and put together a financing arm for other filmmakers. We have eager goals and we want to continue to grow the company and be a place where people can know the brand and know that we have a high quality of film that is still character driven. That is why you wanted to be shown in the movies before it goes to dvd . That is an interesting point, and everyone is talking these days about what is the best release model. I think that there is an element, even as film makers are trying to figure out how to monetize the loss of dvd, i think there is an element of wanting it to be in theaters. Being in theaters helps our people to know about it, helps awareness. Additionally, it feels like a bigger movie. Is it not also satisfying for you and the people that are making the movie . There is a reason why youre doing it. Youre not doing it to get rich, youre doing it because this is a creative endeavor youre interested in pursuing. That is right. What were finding is that if you do it right and you Pay Attention to story and you try to protect the creative elements of the film that i can still be profitable. It is changing so quickly, everyone is talking about snow piercer where they had a 40 million film and it came out on vod two weeks after theaters. There is a concept of a screen is a screen is a screen. But there is real value in being in a room of the pole and having that Emotional Experience surrounded by a lot of other people that are laughing and going through this journey with you while you are watching a film. Not only as a producer, director, money raiser, also an actor in the industry, do you have any thoughts about the actual size of the screen, about how that translate into the kinds of stories and the kinds of images that are created . I think it matters. We spent so much time when we are working on the film and we are in postproduction, we go through every frame. Every frame has to be painted in a way that looks beautiful on the big screen. And then you see people ought to get on the little phone and you ask yourself why you spend so much time and resources making this experience that they will not have. I think there is a value to having the theater. Christopher nolan had an oped piece where he talked about how the theater will never go away no matter how useful, how much people get used to seeing things on the television. There is truth to that, there is an experience seeing something on the big screen that cannot be replicated. Maybe that makes me traditional, but i do believe that the theater will always have a place, and were are going to determine exactly what that is. Thank you very much for joining me. Adam saunders, the head of footprint features. Looking for some champagne alternatives . I will introduce you to the owner of a vineyard. This is taking stock on bloomberg. I am pimm fox. According to a recent Research Report the sales of prosecco, the white wine native to northern italy beat out champagne for the first time in 2013. It shipped over 300 million bottles globally last year. David noto is the owner of altaneve. Thank you for being here. Tell us what is prosecco . It is an italian white sparkling wine. It is made differently than champagne is made, by the grapes, by the region. Champagne is made in the champagne region of france. Prosecco is made in the prosecco region of italy. Doc and docg. They are government certifications for the quality and the region of the wine. You know that if you see that label, that acronym, you know youre getting prosecco . No question about it. The kinds of grapes . It is made predominantly with glara grapes, but others can be used for lower quality. Blending it make higherquality . To bump up the acidity, to bump up the structure, the mineralogy. The best prosecco is 100 galara. The idea when we launched was to have the highest quality prosecco in the world. Premiere making processes and even harvesting processes. Does it require special fermentation . With champagne you look at vintages. Because it uses the sherman method it is a much younger wine. It should be less than two years old for the best and highest quality wine. Does this mean that older prosecco is less expensive . Yes. Going from the idea from that something is less costly than champagne, does this affect the drinks made with champagne . A defense upon the price point. Mediocre Campaign Starts around 40, and prosecco starts around 10. It is a lot less financially burdensome. You can take a 30 bottle of prosecco and makes it very easily mix it very easily. What would you like to see happen . I would like people to recognize it, see it as the highest quality prosecco, which it is. I want it to be known as altaneve, not just prosecco. You brought along a bottle that is at least two feet tall. What is in it . How much does it cost . The smaller bottles are 30, and the larger bottles and they are three liters and sell for 165. For how many people . 20 to 25 people. Do you recommend rigging without anything in it drinking it without anything in it . I drink it all the time, you can experiment all the time. You can blend in vodka, juices, it will make it spectacular. Breakfast, lunch, dinner . I have it with orange juice, with grapefruit juice, peach juice.
