Getaway preparing for the great christmas getaway as roads, railways, ferries and flights planned for this years rush. A very special night, says the arsenal boss, as they become the First Premier League club to let fans back in since march. Two thousand watched them thrash rapid vienna in the Europa League some of us waking up to snow this morning and this was edinburgh earlier. Snow and heavy rain in places. A wet and cold friday on the way for many. Its friday, december the 4th. Our top story. With less than one month to go for britain and the eu to agree a trade deal, the chances of that happening are said to be receding. Brussels has been accused of introducing new demands at the 11th hour. Both sides will be urgently seeking compromises in key areas such as fishing rights and competition rules when talks resume today. Our Political Correspondent helen catt reports. It was another late night dinner, al desco, for the negotiating teams. But the chance of delivering a deal in the next few days is receding. That was according to a senior government source last night, who accused the eu of bringing in new elements at the 11th hour. Uk sources have suggested the eu has hardened its proposals on the common rules, which both sides would agree to put in place, in particular how to enforce them. From the eu side there was a suggestion that talks have got extremely sluggish, but an eu source denied there have been any surprises or new demands from them. Discussions on fishing had also gone back 2a hours, according to the uk side. There are claims that france has taken a firmer approach. Michel barnier is expected to go back to brussels later as planned. Talks do continue. Whats really going on inside the building hes left behind we cant know for sure. A turn for the worse or the theatrics of a negotiation nearing its end we should find out soon. Helen catt, bbc news, westminster. An investigation has started into the cause of an explosion at a waste Water Treatment works near bristol which left four people dead. People are being urged to avoid the area. Borisjohnson said he was deeply saddened by the news. Andy moore reports. Wessex water called the explosion absolutely tragic, and its thoughts were with the families, friends and colleagues of those involved. Three of its staff and a contractor were working close to the silo when it exploded yesterday morning. It contained sludge, which is treated before being used as a fertilizer. We heard this almighty bang and everybody sort of came running from everywhere, saying, what was that . Everybody thought, was that an earthquake . The whole warehouse was shaking. And we literally stood there in shock because we thought everything was going to fall in. People started coming out of the warehouses over there. Started coming out, saying, look over there. So we looked out the windows and all we seen was people running. The Emergency Services were quickly on the scene. They later confirmed four fatalities, while a fifth person was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The police said they wouldnt be speculating on the cause of the explosion. Together with the health and safety executive, they have already started an investigation to find out what went wrong. Andy moore, bbc news. Our reporterjohn maguire is at the scene for us this morning. Journalists are being kept at some distance from the site. Tell us more about the investigation. Really i suppose thoughts this morning split into two, very much thoughts with everybody involved, whether it be civic leaders, the water company, are with the family of the four people who died here yesterday. In terms of the investigation, police and health and safety executive will ta ke and health and safety executive will take the lead. It happened just after 11 yesterday morning. Behind mea after 11 yesterday morning. Behind me a police car is in position guarding the entrance to the site. Where the red lights are on top, from one of the power generators, and the other light show you exactly where the silo tank was. What we can see from the pictures is the top had been torn off, such was the force of the explosion. Where we are, west of the explosion. Where we are, west of the city of bristol, on the banks of the city of bristol, on the banks of the river severn estuary, we are surrounded by warehouses and businesses, it is an industrial location. A lot of people working here heard the explosion and many said they did not first know what it was, whether it was an earthquake, a large explosion. It shook some of the buildings and was heard up to a mile away. Very early days in the investigation and it will be up to the health and safety executive to learn any lessons from here, to try to make sure what happened yesterday never happens again. The top Infectious Disease expert in america has apologised for suggesting that britains medical regulator had cut corners in giving approval to the Coronavirus Vaccine. Dr Anthony Fauci said the decision on the Pfizer Biontech jab had been rushed. Later, in an interview with the bbc, he said his comments had been misunderstood. Our process is one that takes more time than was taken with the uk. And thatjust is the reality. I did not mean to apply any sloppiness, even though it came out that way. So, if it did, ijust want to set the record straight. I have a great deal of confidence in what the uk does, both scientifically and from a regulatory standpoint. Ifi if i somehow came across differently, i apologise for that. From this evening, pubs, bars and restaurants in wales will have to shut by six oclock and wont be allowed to sell alcohol. New restrictions are being imposed in response to a rise in coronavirus cases over the past month. Tomos morgan reports. After just four weeks of pouring a pint again since the lockdown in wales, the taps will have to be closed again. As from this evening, restaurants and bars across wales will have to close at 6pm and alcohol wont be allowed to be sold in any venue for at least another three weeks. The decision by the welsh Labour Government has sparked a furious response by those in the industry, such as the boss of waless biggest brewery, brains, which has decided to close more than 100 of its pubs. A big Company Grant has been proposed, it will cover about one day of operating costs. So, of course we are grateful for it, but it does not make enough of a difference. We are going to have to close all of our managed pubs from friday, at six oclock, because we will lose less money being closed than by being open. This is terrible news for our employees, terrible news for our customers and we are really fearful that we wont be open again before christmas. Although it will still be sold in shops, the impact of restricting the sale of alcohol and hospitality has a considerable effect on the supply chain. Im not really factoring hospitality in too much for next year. In terms of our plan, we planned everything and the worst case scenario, it wont be there. So we are hoping for the best, we are hoping we can survive in terms of e commerce and retail and so on, but i am so worried about the industry as a whole and what its going to look like, and i think were going to lose so many amazing pubs in wales. And hospitality isnt the only sector being restricted from tonight. Soft play centres, bingo halls and cinemas will also have to close. There will also be a ban on nonessential travel in and out of wales to the highest covid areas in other areas of britain, such as tier three in england, the highest tiers in scotland, and the whole of Northern Ireland. The Welsh Government say evidence is there to support these new measures being put into force. And with christmas being eased across the uk over the festive period, it has been done, they say, to limit the number of potential deaths from the spread of the virus as the cases continue to rise here. Tomos morgan, bbc news, cardiff. Warner brothers studio has angered us cinemas with its decision to make all 2021 releases available to stream online, as soon as they hit the big screen. Cinema operators fear people will choose to watch films at home instead, further affecting their revenue. Normally, new releases are shown exclusively at cinemas for a few months. The Prime Minister is calling on other World Leaders to follow britains example and set their own ambitious targets for cutting Carbon Emissions, ahead of a virtual Climate Summit next week. Borisjohnson has confirmed the uk wants to reduce emissions by 68 per cent by the end of the decade, compared with 1990 levels. Labour has said theres a yawning gap between the governments aspirations and its policies to deliver them. The bank of england is being urged to investigate the whereabouts of around £50 billion of banknotes that are unaccounted for. Mps on the Public Accounts Committee say not knowing where the cash is raises concerns about whether it may be being used for illegal purposes. 0ur economics correspondent andy verity explains. In spite of talk of moves to a cashless society, demand for cash in the Old Fashioned form of banknotes keeps increasing. Between a fifth and a quarter of all notes are used or held to be spent in cash transactions. The rest, about £50 billion, could be hoarded as unreported savings, held overseas, or used in the black market economy. But the bank of england doesnt know where it is kept, who by or what for and, according to the Public Accounts Committee of mps, doesnt seem very curious. The bank of england needs to be sharing information about where that 50 billion might have gone. They wont have all the answers, we are really clear about that, but we are really clear that they need to be sending that information to the relevant agencies. Its a bit of a patchwork quilt, patching together big issues around organised crime. Clearly, the bank of england has a role to play in that. The committee is also warning that regulators and the government are not doing enough to ensure people who do need access to cash to spend locally can withdraw it free of charge, especially in rural areas, with the number of cash machines dropping by 12 and many converting to paid for use. The bank of england disputed that the banknotes were missing, saying members of the public didnt have to explain to the bank why they wish to hold banknotes. Andy verity, bbc news. Now the weather with nick. That picture, many people will be quite concerned. We have reports of roads closed yesterday in scotland because of snow and the weather affecting everyday lives. More travel disruption this morning and we are seeing travel disruption this morning and we are seeing more snow travel disruption this morning and we are seeing more snow and notjust in scotland. This view from edinburgh, and we are seeing pictures of quite a covering of snow in parts of scotland, into Northern England with snow overnight so a covering, particularly on some of the hills here. This is the recent radar and you can see where most of the snow has fallen. There is no in the snow has fallen. There is no in the showers in parts of wales and South West England, into the hills mainly, but also in this zone of heavy mostly rain in Eastern England there is sleet and snow in this, creating some difficult travel conditions this morning. Lets look at what we expect from this. In scotland, where there is the greatest chance of encountering travel disruption today from initially snow and icy conditions. A lot of this will turn to rain away from the hills but heavy rain could bring further disruption and potential flooding in eastern scotla nd potential flooding in eastern scotland in the afternoon. Northern ireland, mainly dry, and icy start. Mostly rain. In england and wales, dry, although showers in wales and South West England, but the eastern side of england is very wet. And notice how that pivots across Northern England, into the midlands, north wales. Some sleet and snow in the highest ground out of that. In the highest ground out of that. In the south, a bit of sunshine. But it is also very windy at times today, particularly in northern and western scotla nd particularly in northern and western scotland into Northern Ireland. And with all of that going on it feels quite cold with temperatures rooted in single figures. You can see rain on the Higher Ground, where you have snow around, temperatures just above freezing. There are warnings in force for rain and snow. I will give you a full idea of what to expect for the rest of the weekend. It does turn drier, that is in half an hour. That is a proper Winter Weather window you have given us. You are welcome. I like to your alliteration. If we look at the front pages we will see one of those images which i think is from the Daily Telegraph and the image is in scotland. It does look beautiful. People might not enjoy the weather altogether, but stunning. The Daily Telegraph reports brexit talks are heading for a showdown. The paper says there had been hopes a deal was close but the british delegation was taken aback after the eu made a series of destabilising last minute demands. 0h, oh, that is my mistake, i thought it was scotland. The image shows snow on the ribblehead viaduct in north yorkshire. A lot of areas in the north getting that snow. The i newspaper says the worlds first doses of the Coronavirus Vaccine will be distributed to 53 hubs this weekend, with hospitals ready to roll out jabs from tuesday. The paper adds that mi5 has advised ministers to keep freezer locations which are required to store the jab secret to prevent sabotage. The bbc website has more on the decision from warner bros we will talk a lot about this. We will talk to the ceo of nhs providers and get more. The bbc website has more on the decision from warner bros to make all releases available to stream at the same time as their cinema release. And the sun reports on girls aloud singer sarah harding, who has thanked fans for the love and support she has received since revealing she has breast cancer, in august. She revealed she has been writing her life story whilst receiving chemotherapy. We did a little bit of fashion friday yesterday. The baguette handbag. I thought i would move from fashion and keep the food theme going because there is a new trend of cooking omelette. If anybody knows how to do that, it is you. First i thought i would remind viewers of your culinary expertise. This was part of the children in need challenge to cook as many omelettes as you could in 58 seconds. What is your technique . What were you thinking when you created . Most people do not have to cook their omelette on a tiny stove and they are not bothered by a bear hanging around in the background, two things that are distracting. Can we talk about your stirring technique. You had a wooden spoon and you decided to stir, is that how you make an omelette . It was done in a hurry and under the pressure, cameras on me, as well. You are not used to cameras . Tell us about the new thing . Iam asking tell us about the new thing . I am asking should you stare when you make an omelette. Sometimes i do, sometimes i dont. Eggs, there is a trend on social media for the tornado omelette and i think you had something when you did that challenge. A tornado omelette is made with chopsticks and there has been a craze that began in the usa and it spread to the uk. Created by using chopsticks. You twirl whisked eggs in a hot pan and as it cooks, the omelette spirals into the form of a tornado or a flower. It is pa rt form of a tornado or a flower. It is part of the korean traditional dish where it is surrounded by rice. But videos were posted on social media. If you want to know, i think this is in the Daily Telegraph. Egg sales have gone up by more than one fifth ina year. With people cooking at home. In defence of my technique in the clip, the other thing i remember now was such was the cooking utensils i had at the time, as soon as i put the eggsin at the time, as soon as i put the eggs in the saucepan they were burning. The reason i moved them around was to stop the whole thing burning as it fell into the saucepan. You say that, if it was that hot, why were the eggs not cooked . We had dawn french we have dawn french on later. She is in a bid tricks potter film. It is charming. This story is about kate winslet talking about method acting. Norwegian accidents are hard to do. Almost like a spoof. Maybe not to sound genuine. We will find out more from dawn french later. A year on from its first case of covid i9, china is well on the way to a full recovery. There are very few domestic cases and few restrictions on daily life. But some Chinese People are starting to worry about how theyll be treated abroad once the world opens up again. 0ur correspondent robin brant reports from shanghai. Here are two young women whove come through the virus in china. Two people whove had a very differentjourney. And two people now with very Different Things on their mind going forward. Pan is back in her tiny apartment after a 2,500 mile round trip when she was forced to stay with her parents. Now, given it all started here in china, shes worried about what the world outside will think of her. I hope next year i can get a new bar. Before that though, harassment, hassle, maybe even intimidation that is what shes worried about. At the start of february, shanghai was a ghost town, a city of 2a million people, empty. Not now, though. This is what a return to normal looks like. Despite the rain, pan is happy these days. Some of her friends never came back to shanghai. They opted instead for safer governmentjobs at home. But shes on her way to her newjob in a bar restaurant. She is saving, though. China rejects any accusation that it was slow to react to the outbreak of this virus, and it points to its official death toll, 4,750, as evidence that it won what it called a war against the virus. All of which means you get this. Normal life has pretty much resumed. The economic recovery was quick. China kept people working by borrowing to build, yet again. But, simply put, some think its ended up with people making a lot of stuff, but not really buying a lot of stuff. We do know that unemployment among Migrant Workers has been higher. We also know, when you look at the breakdown of consumption, certain items, expensive items luxury cars, for example, consumption there has grown very, very quickly. So that gives a sense that its very lopsided socially, as well as in terms of supply versus demand. Lopsided or not, business forjo is good. Once again, people want the custom made bags that she crafts. She told me shes a patriot. Her mums in the communist party, but shes been doing some soul searching. Feeling sorry, mistakes made its very unusual to hear that language from someone here with party connections. Jo was on the front line back in february, in a nearby village. Shes even got the certificate to prove it. Saying sorry, though, is not something she thinks chinas leader can do. And, as to what those reasons might be, well, she didnt say. Robin brant, bbc news, shanghai. Christmas is often a frantic time for travel and the easing of coronavirus restrictions for five days means road, train and ferry operators are expecting huge demand. Ben is at londons Kings Cross Station this morning to tell us more. Good morning, isuppose good morning, i suppose there are a number of questions. We do not know how many will try to travel. Also, the system has not been dealing with that many people because generally less people have been out of yes, you are right. Coupled with that peak window, it is a narrower time to travel, just five days this year. It might mean the system that has been pretty quiet having to gear up for an intense few days as people try to get away but you are right, we do not know what demand will look like, whether people will just stay at home demand will look like, whether people willjust stay at home to avoid any of the problems or whether given the easing of restrictions they may make the most of it and go to see family and friends around the country. Lets get the thought of robert nisbet, the Rail Delivery Group boss. Give me a sense of what the station might look like, how busy will places like this beat, and how are you forecasting for demand . The challenge is big because the window is narrower than normal but also there are Engineering Works that we plan around this time because there are fewer people travelling and they can take some yea rs travelling and they can take some years to plan in advance, so you cannot just switch them years to plan in advance, so you cannotjust switch them on and off. We expect things to be challenging. This is why we Work Together to deliver a plan that looks at the Engineering Works and looks at how we can make the journey easier and safer for people which involves may be starting works later, to expand the window on the day perhaps on christmas eve, and perhaps finishing earlier on the 27th when people will head back, because that is a potential pinch point. We have strong advice for people planning to use the railways. A big influx of people over that five day period when you have been relatively quiet, how do you manage demand . What we say to people is go to the website of the Train Operating Companies and National Rail enquiries and check. Bookin National Rail enquiries and check. Book in advance if you can, especially on a Long Distance journey. Some operators will only ta ke journey. Some operators will only take people if they have booked and reserved tickets. Before you head to the station, please check before you travel. That is essential. We will do our bit. We will have volunteers at stations, some of them wearing a journey make a jacket, which they will wear at Kings Cross Station. Volu nteers will wear at Kings Cross Station. Volunteers that people can ask for advice. There are also digital tours people can set up to get alerts if it is busy. Please travel at quieter times. These things will help us to deliver you safely and in the meantime we will do what we have done throughout the pandemic, which is to keep stations and trains as clea n is to keep stations and trains as clean as possible and we ask all passengers to follow the rules, maintain social distancing and where face coverings. We will talk more later but for now, thanks very much. Yesterday there was news from the transport secretary talking about some travellers who would be exempt from quarantine. Clive is from the Business Travel association. This is interesting because we know the quarantine rules have been pretty damaging because it means people cannot go about doing what they are doing, and damaging for holiday makers. So far it is good news for the industry that they are now certain categories of Business Travellers will be exempt. There is still a lot of detail to come out but we know Business Travellers leaving the uk, being ready to return and come back for specific reasons, investment in the uk, saving jobs in the uk, and that applies to foreign executives coming into the uk. It is quite narrow, a good start, but only the beginning. We should be clear they can only be exempt if travelling for business, not just off exempt if travelling for business, notjust off on their holiday. What difference will it make . It is important, about Building Confidence for the industry and economy and allowing Business Travel is key to getting the uk economy back on the road. What we need alongside that is a robust departure testing regime. So that will widen the scope for Business Travel and that will see getting momentum back into the economy. Thank you. Two thoughts on changes to travel, particularly in the run up to christmas. It is about getting things back to a level of normality. What demand will look like, we do not know, but the Train Companies are making sure they have plans in place. Later we will speak to the Ferry Companies and Car Hire Companies to get a sense of what it could mean for your plans this christmas. Talking of travel. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning, im sonja jessup. Airbnb has warned it could take legal action against anyone throwing a new Years Eve Party at one of their properties. People wont be allowed to book entire homes forjust that one night, unless theyve got a previous history of positive reviews. In august, police broke up a house party said to have been held at an airbnb in north london, following complaints from neighbours. A nurse who volunteered to work in londons Nightingale Hospital during the peak of the pandemic, has been recognised with a Rising Star Award from the Royal College of nursing. Dorcas boamah had never having worked in intensive care before she was one of 2a nurses to be honoured. She explained why, despite the risks, she wanted to do it. A lot of the percentage of the patients were all from a bame background. And i thought, wow, is this going to be me . Because that could be my dad, that could be my mum. And i thought i didnt want to do it. Then someone said, take a break. And walking out and just reflect and just thinking, i want to be here, thats why im one of britains greatest art collections, from Buckingham Palace, goes on public show today. Well, these are some of the most important paintings in the history of european art. The great names are there titian, rembrandt, vermeer. But they cohere quite well. We are able to show a very strong group of italian painting from the 16th century through to the early 18th century. Lets take a look at the travel situation now. Its looking good on the tube so far. No reported problems there, other than that ongoing closure of the waterloo city line. 0n the a2 theres been an accident westbound at bean interchange delays are almost back to m2. Time for the weather with kate kinsella. Good morning. Its a chilly start this morning, but temperatures above zero. We do, however, have rain. Further outbreaks of rain through this morning, but a drier and brighter afternoon. We havent seen too much in the way of wintriness in this rain overnight. Still a chance over Higher Ground though, as that starts to move away. But it is largely falling as rain. Like i said, it will be a drier afternoon. Some bright, maybe even some sunny spells. Its breezy and its feeling cold. Temperatures between four and six celsius. Now overnight tonight, we will get some clear spells, at least to start with. The temperature drops. The wind will fall light as well. We could see some patchy frost developing. Into saturday the chance of showers from the south as well. Theyre going to spill into saturday morning. Temperatures overnight around one or two celsius as a minimum. For tomorrow, we do have some showers, but the low pressure system causing this weather starts to sink away south. Sunday, a misty and murky day, and a cold one. Thats all from me. Im back in half an hour. Now its back to naga and charlie. Bye for now. Former Campmate Jessica Plummer and finalistjordan norths brother ryan will be here to talk us through their highlights. The time now is 6 32am. Help is on its way thats how the Health Secretary reacted to the approval of the pfizer covid i9 vaccine this week. The jab was approved in record time, which has led some to worry about its safety. Breakfasts Graham Satchell has been getting reaction on the streets of st albans. A freezing wet day in st albans in hertfordshire. Amid the gloom of an awful year, for many there is no hope. The news that a vaccine has been approved brings this kind of reaction. Joy, relief and thank god. Samirs parents have both had covid i9. His dad is still in hospital. Would you say that everybody should take this vaccine . Are 100 , 100 . They say its 90 effective, pfizer. Its like olden days, you know, you had polio and things. You know if you get it, you dont know how bad. So my recommendation is just go and get it. What do i think about it . I think theyve got it very quickly. I think it will be the answer, really. And i cant wait to have it. Maureen is 76 and has chronic lung disease. If i get covid, it will probably kill me, quite bluntly. So very eager to have the vaccine. It is great news. It will be great to be out of lockdown. So im really looking forward to it. I think everyone is, to be honest. Well, maybe not everyone. Listen to carmelo. I think be careful. Its been approved too soon, as far as i can tell. But im no expert on these things, obviously. But i would be very cautious. So if it was offered to you, would you have it . Right now, probably not. 0n the italian stall, tiziano and aaron have also been worrying. Usually a vaccine is like two years, three years, you know. Now it is less than one year. This is the big problem. Personally, if i get offered the vaccine, i will take it. I know a lot of my friends wont. Theres not a lot of trust in the government, at the moment. And, as my friend said, they have developed it really quickly, you so i think its interesting how the public will react to it. 0pinion polls suggest more than two thirds of people are confident about the new vaccine, but social media is awash with shaggy dog stories, untrue anti vaxx theories. The concern for some here, like emile, is not crazy or wild, but straightforward. I thought it was too soon, to be honest, to have it approved. The success rate is 95 . Which sounds pretty good, doesnt it . But how did they find that out . Well, they are the scientists. You dont trust the scientists . Yes and no. On her home made craft stall, jackie is having none of that. We have to have some faith in the system, the scientific system, even if we cant have faith in the other systems. You know, if we have faith in that one, i think that would be what we need to trust. We have to learn to trust again, really. For normal life to return, most people will need to be vaccinated. For those who have lost faith in experts, authorities, government, getting the messaging right will be vital. Graham satchell, bbc news. Were joined now by gp, dr zoe norris. Zoe, good morning. Good morning. You are in east yorkshire. Does your shirt reflect the weather outside . Well, its just dark at the moment, dark and chilly. Hence why my husband has been sent to walk the dog instead of me fight micro he is owed early very good. Exercise. Zoe, we heard some voices there, people talking about the vaccine. There was a great deal of relief something that happened so quickly. Do you have much contact with your patients in terms of reaction so far . The majority of patients are relieved, much like the people you have just heard from in that film. And asking when they are going to get it. That is the main thing. We have been inundated with patients calling to say, when will i get it, when is it going to hit . So generally, a positive reaction. How many of those questions are you able to answer . Not many of them, not yet. I dont think many gps are clear on exactly what is going on. We are also not clear on when we will be vaccinated. The Pfizer Vaccine has gone to large mass vaccination sites that are mostly hospitals. And we havent had insurance whether primary care staff, gps, nurses, will be vaccinated in that first weighed or not yet. Yes, what we do know, and i understand the point you are making, is that of gp surgeries and vaccinations from surgeries, are slightly further down the line, not least because some of the practical issues around keeping the refrigeration and those issues. You know, i am assuming, that he will be involved at some point in this process. So given that, and given i know the workload that you and your collea g u es know the workload that you and your colleagues face, not least because some people have not brought themselves forward over a period of time, what about the practicalities . Do you have enough staff, do you have enough people there, to deal with the vaccination as and when you are involved in that, as well as what you would normally do . No is the short answer. It has been a logistical nightmare, to be honest, for primary care. 0ne logistical nightmare, to be honest, for primary care. One of the issues is there isnt a clear direction as to who is going to be doing the bulk of the vaccination. So i think general practice has been getting ready to vaccinate as many people as we can, as have hospital colleagues, mass vaccination sites. Its not really clear where things are going. Its very different for us preparing to vaccinate perhaps a few hundred very Vulnerable People as a one off, or preparing to run a permanent vaccine or preparing to run a permanent Vaccine Programme or preparing to run a permanent Vaccine Programme alongside the work that we are already doing. We dont have extra staff, we dont have extra funding. We are desperately trying to locate premises that can be approved for this process. It is taking upa be approved for this process. It is taking up a lot of our time at the moment. So literally in practice, you will deal to do the work you normally do alongside rolling out of the vaccine, is that the reality check here . It is for me and for most of my gp colleagues. I think there is a lofty ambition that you can deliver near gp Services Alongside the most enormous Vaccine Programme we have ever seen in history. The reality is that is not the case. It is the same doctors and nurses and Health Care Assistants and receptionists, who will be delivering this vaccine to you, as well as trying to run your gp services. We are going to struggle. 0na services. We are going to struggle. On a slightly more positive note, and its not yourjob to be positive or negative, but some of those voices a moment ago, there was an elderly lady who said she had Chronic Health conditions and she said, bring it on. There must be a lot of people in those circumstances and those will be the first to get a b vaccine. You must have patient who are thinking along those lines . Absolutely. And i think for most of us in general practice the Vaccination Programme is what will get prioritised, because we know how important it is. We see the impact on patients. We are absolutely behind it. And itsjust a case of making sure those patients get it. I think most people expect doctors to be pro vaccine. And i tend to say to my patients, i am a mum, i am a wife, iam my patients, i am a mum, i am a wife, i am one of the volunteers for the oxford vaccine trial, and that tea m the oxford vaccine trial, and that team have ta ken the oxford vaccine trial, and that team have taken incredibly good care of us. Ive had a vaccine. No idea if it is the real one or the placebo one. But im really confident in the system and i would happily get my family to have it. Is the dog walker back yet . No, probably not. A few more minutes. 0k. Back yet . No, probably not. A few more minutes. Ok. Good to catch up with you this morning. Thank you. I dont think they would have been any discussion about who was taking out the dog. Quite bracing this morning. I will tell you what though, hearts we re i will tell you what though, hearts were warmed yesterday, mike, werent they . You know when its cold . Have you ever been to a match and its nice being huddled up together . 0bviously nice being huddled up together . Obviously we cant do that. It didnt matter. You have been talking the last couple of days in advance getting back to what their passion. Indeed, wearing the masks. Last night, arsenal became the First Premier League club to welcome some spectators back into their ground since march, for their 4 1 victory over rapid vienna in the Europa League. Being in tier 2, arsenal were allowed to admit up to 2,000 fans into the emirates for the match. A small fraction of the 60,000 normally allowed. But they made themselves heard, especially when Alexandre Lacazette scored the goal of the game. They had already made it through the knockout stages, and now theyre Group Winners with a game to spare. Very special and delighted to have them back. I think they made a huge contribution. We had 2,000, but it looked like many more. They were really supportive with the team. They will bring encouragement to the team. And i think the lads were saying here that it makes a huge difference to feel that support and energy from them. Son heung min scored the pick of tottenhams goals, as they drew three all with lask to reach the knockout stage. Despite that, Jose Mourinho questioned the attitude of some of his players after the game, saying the group stage of the Europa League fails to motivate a number of his squad. Leicester had already made it through to the next round, which may explain why they lost 1 0 to zoria luhansk in ukraine. The foxes will still finish top of their group if they beat aek athens in their final game. Rangers are also through to the knockout stage, after a dramatic 3 2 victory over standard liege at ibrox. Steven gerrards side twice came from behind, with Scott Arfield scoring the decisive goal. A win in their final group match will guarantee them top spot. Meanwhile, celtic threw away a two goal lead, to lose 4 2 to ac milan in italy, and increase the pressure on manager neil lennon. Celtic were already eliminated, and have now won just twice in their last 11 games in all competitions. Now, the financial pressure on Lower League Football clubs in england, caused by the pandemic, has eased somewhat following the £250 million rescue package agreed with the premier league. But the chief executive of one League One Side says while the help is welcome, he doubts it will be enough for some teams to survive. Championship clubs will have access to £200 million worth of interest free loans, while clubs in leagues one and two will be able to draw from a total grant of £50 million. Its good to have. But please, let me put it in context. For a club like rochdale, it probably is less than two months of our normal, regular outgoings. So, its a great thing to have. Not appearing to be ungrateful we are grateful, because its a great injection that all clubs need at this moment in time but on its own, it wont be enough to ensure the survival of all of the clubs in league one and two. British driver George Russell says he has no expectations, as he prepares to take Lewis Hamiltons seat in his mercedes car, for sundays sakhir grand prix. Russell gets the drive after World Champion tested positive for covid i9. Hamilton has already clinched the championship, but could also miss the years final race in abu dhabi next weekend as well. Standing infor standing in for the World Champion, thatis standing in for the World Champion, that is something, isnt it . But logistically it is a challenge because russell is five inches taller. He has to cram into louiss seatin taller. He has to cram into louiss seat in the car. They can make slight adaptations but not overall. He says he is going to wear small boots, down from size 11 to size ten. That can be very painful but he is willing to suffer the pain for the race. Wow quarter chance. I suppose every understudy, its like every understudys dream that the leading actorfalls ill, not seriously, but ill enough so they cant perform so you can have your moment. But in formula i as well. What a state. Edge of the seat stuff. Seat of the edge heres nick with a look at this mornings weather. We have reports of snow. Paid usa we have reports of snow. Paid us a picture . Indeed. Heavy snow falling in places this morning. You can see why there are difficult to travel conditions across parts of scotland. It is notjust in scotland we are seeing the snow. This is a scene from suffolk. A zone of wet weather across Eastern England which, some of it is falling as heavy sleet and snow, giving a slushy a few centimetres in places. You can see all of that on the recent rain snow radar. You can see where most of the snow is falling in scotland. We have had some in Northern England. Look at the fighting some of this wet weather in parts of Eastern England. It is all down to this area of low pressure setting across the uk at the moment. It is in an area of cold air, which is why we are notjust seeing rain but some snow in places. This is how the morning is shaping up in scotland. For the snow pushing westwards, where it is a cold and icy start. A lot of this snow will turn to rain away from the higher hills. It will turn into a very wet afternoon across eastern scotland, with persistent heavy rain and the risk of flooding disruption. Northern ireland starting cold, icy, frosty, but we will see some mostly rain heading in, but there will be snow on the high hills. A few showers in wales and South West England. We have been seeing some sleet and snow into the moors. In through the day mostly rain migrants scotland. The rain in Eastern England pivots towards north wales, through the midlands. Northern ireland as well. A bit of sleet and snow to the higher hills. Mostly rain. South wales and southern england have a mainly dry and bright afternoon. It is notjust wet and cold, it is windy as well. Cost in excess of 50 mph. Those temperatures, well, this is the best we will get today. If you are stuck underneath the zone of heavy rain, or in the hills, it will be barely be above freezing. As we get into tonight, you could see the swirl of wet weather around this area of low pressure. There will be further areas of rain and showers around. A bit of sleet and snow to the higher hills. Some clearer skies to collegial parts of Eastern England. This is where we will see some of the lowest temperatures and some frost going into the morning. Gradual changes over the weekend. It turns slowly drier. But it wont be any warmer. This is how saturdays looking. Mainly showers. Some of them will be heavy. We could see some hail. Still gusty winds with some hail. Still gusty winds with some of the sharers are crossed so showers across south west ending in. Some sunny spells. Still quite blustery. Not as windy as today. Temperatures know better. Part two of the weekend on sunday, the winds have fallen right, so they could be some fog around to start the day. Slow to clear. A frosty site as well. For some areas the fog may not clear parts of south east and Eastern England. Although the weather is quieter on sunday, it is not any warmer. There are met Office Warning is in force for the morning commute. That is because of snow and rain in places. Check those before you head out. Back to you. Nick, i know it is december, i know it is winter, as these temperatures typical for this point in december . We are in metrological winter. That happens on the ist of december. They are a little bit below the average for the time of the year. Not massively so. A bit below the average. I guess when you put a few days of these together and you get a frosty and cold night times two, you really do start to feel the cold, particularly because it is fairly early in the season as well. What is the trick . We wa nt season as well. What is the trick . We want breakfast viewers to get some pictures in of their wintry pictures. Your weather watchers a lwa ys pictures. They really help us tell the story of what is going out there when obviously we can just look out through the window. We are just seeing rain falling outside our window. It is good to see those pictures of snow to verify what we are talking about in the forecast. Thank you. Keep the pictures coming in. If you have got a scene outside your house this morning, e mail us. Share your thoughts also on our Facebook Page as well. After lots of uncertainty, the pantomime season has finally begun. Oh, yes, it has no way. Im not saying it. Lets do it again. After lots of uncertainty, the pantomime season has finally begun. Oh, yes, it has there we go. It wasnt that bad. Venues in tiers i and 2 are now allowed to hold productions. Basil brush and debbie mcgee had the honour of getting things underway at the Theatre Royal in windsor last night. 0ur entertainment correspondent, colin paterson, went along. I can feel it, anticipation in the air. The panto season is go. I am not stupid. Oh, yeah . Ive just finished a jigsaw in a week and, on the box, it said three to four years. Yes, there we go. Its a socially distanced cinderella in windsor. Your dreams will come true. Ive been on furlough, so its been quite hard, so it will be nice to get out of the house and do something together. Its such a magical time. In december, obviously, christmas, festive activities, and weve not really been able to do anything up until now. Are you excited . Yes. And what are we going to watch today . Cinderella. Staggered arrival times, families sitting in bubbles, everyone over 11 wearing masks, and the whole auditorium is fogged down between performances. Its also a different experience for the cast. There are little coloured tape so that we are social distanced. So when i do my entrance as fairy, when there are other people on the stage, i know i have to be by a green tape, if im on with cinderella. My fairy wand i have to look after myself, where usually the props people will look after it and hand it to you as you go on the stage. No, no, no, none of that. So, basil, do you have to wear a mask on stage in panto . Muffled speech. I cant hear. What do you say . Isaid. Muffled speech. Ha ha ha boom boom no, i dont have to wear a mask on stage. Of course, im a different species, so im all right. But i do hope youve just sanitised. Basil, how much does it mean to you that this panto can go ahead . I cant begin to tell you, mr colin. To have a real Live Audience instead of looking at a computer screen, you know. The boom boom is on zoom. It is absolutely fantastic. And i do feel a fortunate fox that im not furloughed this year. If it was tier three, we wouldnt be able to go ahead, and i was going to shed a tear, no matter what tier we were going to be in, if you know what i mean. And basil makes a good point. Just to confirm that i have exchange those tickets. Slough is a little over a mile from the theatre, but its in tier three, meaning people there have been asked to swap their tickets for later in the run. Every aspect of the production is a pantomime palaver. There can only be half capacity, so this is obviously not about making money. Why have you gone ahead . For the audiences, really. You see the same people coming on the same dates each year, sitting in the same seats. And its for them that we want to give people a bit of light relief at the end of what has been very difficult year for everybody. And the audience at the first performance loved it. How different was to normal . It was actually better. Why . Because we had more space. She had a really good view. It was so wonderful, you just forget all those things that you dont usually do. You cant shout out as much and things like that. To be honest, emma still did, so. The pandemic panto season is up and running. Cinderella has gone to the ball, albeit a socially distanced one. Colin paterson, bbc news, windsor. I would just make the point that in amongst all the difficult things, there have been some surreal moments because of the pandemic. And basil brush taking us through the tier system. Did you ever think we would Say Something like that . you know what . Neither did basil brush, to be fair. I dont think he ever thought he would be telling you what you can and cant do. Its so good. Its christmas. Panto is intrinsic. Of course. We are spoiled this morning. Hoping you will enjoy the spoils of this morning as well. We are talking to dawn french, who is so busy at the moment. He has got a beautiful, charming film outweigh she plays Beatrix Potter. We have got al murray, who is hopefully going to play the drums. He has been making music with his daughter. Raising money for cancer. And small axe, the Steve Mcqueen series, which i found really interesting. Axe, the Steve Mcqueen series, which ifound really interesting. The story of a man who was involved in the brixton riots and imprisoned. We have got him and the act of placing. And its a very, very powerful piece of drama. We are only talking to some many different people. Talking to actors who are getting to work. Dawn french, vicar of tivoli, christmas, they are kind of really linked. The vicar of tivoli. Lots happening. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning, im Sonja Jessup Airbnb has warned it could take legal action against anyone throwing a new Years Eve Party at one of their properties. A nurse who volunteered to work at the londons Nightingale Hospital during the peak of the pandemic is among those to be recognised with a Rising Star Award from the Royal College of nursing. Dorcas boamah had never worked in intensive care before. She explained why, despite the risks, she wanted to do it. A lot of the percentage of the patients were all from a bame background and i thought, wow, is this going to to be me . Because that could be my dad, that could be my mum. And i thought i didnt want to do it. And someone said take a break. And just thinking, i want to be here. Thats why im here. One of britains greatest art collections from Buckingham Palace goes on public show today. The old masters usually hang in the picture gallery, but theyve been moved to the queens gallery while a major refurbishment takes place. Well, these are some of the most important paintings in the history of european art. The great names are there titian, rembrandt, vermeer. But they cohere quite well. We are able to show a very strong group of italian painting from the 16th century through to the early 18th century. Lets take a look at the travel situation now. Its looking good on the tube so far no reported problems other than that ongoing closure of the waterloo city line. Weve got flooding in enfield though one lane is blocked northbound on the a10 at carterhatch lane. And theres been an accident on the a2 westbound at bean interchange. The delays are almost back to the m2. Time for the weather with kate kinsella. Good morning. We do, however, have rain. The met office has a warning in place for heavy rain. The takeaway boxes pile up as britain and the eu try to agree the future of their trading relationship. Less than one month after its lockdown ended, wales imposes tougher hospitality restrictions a 6pm closing time. An explosion at a Water Treatment works near bristol that killed four people is being investigated by police. Loud and proud. Fans make themselves heard, as arsenal become the First Premier League club to welcome supporters back since march. Some 2000 watched them thrash rapid vienna in the Europa League. Good morning, a cold start to friday. A snowy start for some. Scotland, northern and Eastern England, difficult travel conditions. What to expect from a wet friday and are slowly getting dry weekend. The forecast is on the way. Its friday the 11th of december. Lets speak to our Political Correspondent iain watson in westminster. Iain, a crucial day of talks ahead . These talks went on late last night. Details being thrashed out. With a view to some agreement or not . Both sides say they are trying to seek an agreement. Michel barnier, the eu negotiator, david frost, lord frost, the british negotiator are meeting face to face this morning. We believe Michel Barnier will brief eu diplomats this afternoon, so it looks like they are trying to get a deal, and the language used about the current state of play is interesting with nobody saying talks have broken down. They say perhaps chances of getting a deal is receding. A government spokesman said talks had been set back, over theissue said talks had been set back, over the issue of competition rules. The idea of a level playing field, making sure we do not disproportionately subsidise our industries and have unfair competition after the transition period ends. The uk government insistent that the eu side have introduced new complications, how the whole agreement if we reach one would be policed. The eu say they have not come up with new demands or surprises, so if they cannot agree on what they disagree over, it does not auger well. The clock is ticking this weekend. Crucial because next week legislation returns to the house of commons the eu does not like which could set things back and a summit of eu leaders on thursday which should be there to sign off any deal, but so far, the final stage of the negotiations looks incredibly elusive. 0ur reporterjohn maguire is at the scene for us this morning. We can see the Police Presence where you are and i know you are kept at some distance. Tell us more about the explosion and investigation. This area is avonmouth, an Industrial Area nestled between the m5 motorway and banks of the river severn, the estuary there, surrounded by logistics warehouses, and the people you saw in the report would have been people working in the area, so not a residential area, but the Water Treatment plant, as you can see behind me, the police carguarding you can see behind me, the police car guarding the entrance and the lights in the distance is where the tax you saw in the report are located. Two of them large green silos. The one on the right obviously the one where the explosion took place with a metal gantry going across the top. That seems to have been forced back and the top of the tank torn back. The metalwork disrupted such was the force. The explosion was felt up to a mile away from this location. Two thoughts really from the owners of the site, wessex water, and civic leaders, very much thoughts with the families of those people who died yesterday, three of whom worked for wessex water and another for contractor. People probably getting ready for work yesterday morning leaving the house and sadly did not return home after the accident. The explosion happened around 11 15am yesterday. Emergency services on the scene quickly. There are fire stations near here and fire crews we re stations near here and fire crews were here in around five minutes. The other main focus and reaction is about that investigation. Initiated by the police but also taken forward now by the health and safety executive, who will try to establish what happened, what caused the explosion and crucially, how to ensure it never happens again. From this evening, pubs, bars and restaurants in wales will have to shut by six oclock. Tomos morganjoins us now from cardiff. Iimagine i imagine people will be frustrated after going through the firebreak and being told this is absolutely necessary , and being told this is absolutely necessary, and now these are the restrictions coming in and hitting the Hospitality Industry. Yes, that has been dented over the period of this year, with many businesses i have spoken to in the industry such as this one in cardiff are wondering why they feel they are penalised once again, really, after what has been a difficult year. You are the chef and owner here, tell us what your initial reactions were when you got the news last friday, monday when you found out he would not be able to sell alcohol and you would have to close from 6pm. We were told the news would come through on friday and then on friday the news was it was delayed till monday and thenit was it was delayed till monday and then it came in. It was hard to take. It is a massive effect on your business. You were fully booked last night and business. You were fully booked last nightandi business. You were fully booked last night and i imagine you have made money from alcohol sales, what percentage do you make from that and how much of a dent will it be . 4096 of what we do is wet sales. You can see we have a fully stocked bar. People come in for food they want a nice glass of wine, cocktail. They are not coming in to get drunk and rowdy and go home, they are coming for a nice meal and experience. Your plan for the next weeks until the 17th, when these restrictions are reviewed is to open four days a week for lunchtime. Will that be viable . Do you know what, we have tried to stay positive throughout everything. We had to make a decision. We have a lot of staff who have started recently. Young kids in the kitchen, brilliant, really good talent, and we have to make sure they are kept injobs. We have to make sure they are kept in jobs. Can we have to make sure they are kept injobs. Can you understand we have to make sure they are kept in jobs. Can you understand why the Welsh Government put restrictions in place with figures rising across the country . I can understand why they put restrictions in place but i do not understand the restrictions they have put in place. There is no real proof to say it has come from the hospitality sector. The hospitality sector seems to get hit every time with this. To stop you serving at 6pm is hard to take, to stop you serving alcohol all day is hard to take. Thank you. Good luck for the next few weeks. Places like this will have to close at 6pm after tonight and will have to stop selling alcohol. The Welsh Government said there is advice brought out by sage to the show there is a potential risk of the virus spreading in hospitality and when Drinking Alcohol people tend to break the social guidance rule but it is nevertheless a bitter pill to swallow for people like tommy and people in the industry today. There will be travel restrictions in and out of wales coming into force this evening that means that people cannot travel from covid hotspot areas in and out of wales. A lot to consider. We will talk to the welsh minister for consider. We will talk to the welsh Ministerfor Health consider. We will talk to the welsh minister for health and social services in about five minutes. The top Infectious Disease expert in the us has apologised for suggesting that britains medical regulator had cut corners in giving approval to the Coronavirus Vaccine. Dr Anthony Fauci said the decision on the Pfizer Biontech jab had been rushed. Later, in an interview with the bbc, he said his comments had been misunderstood. There is some wintry weather and treacherous travel conditions. Ill show you pictures from scotland and from suffolk. We have a picture from kent now. Slushy snow on the ground here upstaged by an outdoor barbecue but you can see the reason why. I wa nted but you can see the reason why. I wanted to show you the snow, and also the radar over the past hours where you can see where much of the snow has been. It is quite tricky over here. There has been lightening, also, so some of us were woken up by fund snow overnight, which does not happen too often but it can in this weather set up with a deep area of low pressure close by. This wet weather in Eastern England, heavy, but sleet and snow, hence the picture from kent, and difficult travel conditions here. And snow falling from the showers in wales in South West England. It is a messy morning. Certainly cold. And wet in places. Very snowy and particularly scotla nd places. Very snowy and particularly scotland but as we go through the day we will find the snow will turn to rain away from the higher hills and most will end up with rain. A wet afternoon in eastern scotland with the risk of flooding. May be a dry start in Northern Ireland. Cold, icy, will become wetter. Showers this morning particularly into South West England. And very wet weather in parts of Eastern England. If it is not sleet and snow falling, it is just if it is not sleet and snow falling, it isjust a if it is not sleet and snow falling, it is just a heavy, cold and rain making it difficult on the drive. Windy also. Northern england getting back into the rain. Snow on the higher parts of the pennines. North wales turning wetter and across the midlands. But away from the high hills, rain rather than snow. I mentioned it being windy, particularly in the north and west. And that together and it makes for a cold day. These are the temperatures. I could show you the picture into the evening, circulating around low pressure, further showers, spells of mostly rain. Andy frost frost developing across clearer parts of Eastern England going into the morning and a frost. We can speak to the Welsh Health Minister now. We have more restrictions in place today, less than a month since the second firebreak, why . Because the firebreak, why . Because the firebreak had an impact. We saw a significant decline in cases from the peak but after the firebreak ended we thought we would have a sustainable pattern to get us through to the end of the year. We said if cases rose we might have to act in advance of that and i am afraid that has happened. We saw cases plateau, but infection rates have gone up. The big difference to where wales was yesterday and the rest of the uk, which got effective measures to hold back the virus, with restrictions on indoor entertainment and also im afraid with hospitality. That is the u nfortu nate with hospitality. That is the unfortunate choice we face. We can either do what is effective. What sage did, and our own version confirmed a range of measures that are effective, so doing what has worked in the rest of the uk, but it comes as a cost, and a significant cost for hospitality and businesses and those who work in them. I do not enjoy these measures having to be introduced but if we dont, we can be terribly confident, i am afraid, cases would rise and more of our people would not be here. You mention hospitality and we spoke to a gentleman earlier who owns an establishment in cardiff who says he is shocked by the decision and pretty devastated. You are aware Business Group said the move will devastate wales hospitality with closures guaranteed, a quote from them. The chief executive of the Thomas Watkin brewery wants the Welsh Government to prove it is being spread in pubs and restaurants and asks where is the Scientific Evidence you are more at risk in a pub that you are when you are at home . I know tommy runs a fantastic place and there is nothing that is pleasa nt place and there is nothing that is pleasant about this for hospitality andi pleasant about this for hospitality and i am not pretending it will not have a real impact. I know some businesses may not survive, but the alternative is we do not act and people cannot come back. The evidence is set out in the sage papers in november and also collected in evidence we published yesterday. It does show that restrictions that have an effect in reducing or controlling a coronavirus growth within the uk do include these measures. Wales was an outlier up to yesterday in not having these measures in place and we could see rates going up. The evidences in lived experience, in scotland, england and Northern Ireland. And there are similar restrictions in place in germany, with significant restrictions in hospitality. There is no easy or perfect choice. Doing this causes harm, but not doing this would cause greater harm, a significant amount of avoidable deaths occurring in the country which is why we have to do this. You would say there is sage evidence and he gave the dates of the papers that by restricting social mixing in the Hospitality Industry it will make a difference. What evidence was shown about how if you restricted mixing in households, how that would make a difference . At the moment, hospitality closing at 6pm, no alcohol served, but no change to the mixing of four households within a hospitality setting. This is the difficult balance we always try to strike because current rules on household mixing limit to you to two households. The difficulty is young adults and teenagers, that does not work and does not reflect the way they live their lives, so having some opportunity to meet in a different setting is part of the compromise we are trying to strike, and it reflects what the hospitality sector tell us about policing how many households were there. They said they would rather a number to deal with and we looked at that. There is nothing that is easy about this, but the choice comes down to what balance you have to try to have a set of rules people can live within and you dont force people to break the rules and equally how successful ca n break the rules and equally how successful can we be rediscovering our sense of National Mission and purpose . It is to take care of ourselves and each other. In november, apologies, we lost your line. Would you like to say your last sentence . This is really about the fact we could not suppress coronavirus after the firebreak and then we have a responsibility, we either act and act in a way we know causes harm, or we do not act in this way and we accept greater harm and greater loss of life that could be avoided. In november, the first mass testing began in Merthyr Tydfil and you said then it would provide further information to help inform the future roll out of mass testing in wales. The chief executive of nhs wales said it was a hope that would help regain control of the pandemic. Has it not worked . We have seen evidence of a reduction of cases in Merthyr Tydfil and Public Health wales are working with the health board and council to understand what has happened there. We have rolled it out into another area. We have seen a number of people coming forward to be tested and we think we have a different level of Community Behaviour in Merthyr Tydfil when more people are trying to do the right thing more consistently, and thatis right thing more consistently, and that is important, because finding out where the cases are matters, but helping Behaviour Change is a bigger game for all. What is encouraging so far is in Merthyr Tydfil we have had a good response of people being tested and that tells us a lot more also about coronavirus in the Younger Age Group and Larger Population as well. None of that ta kes population as well. None of that takes away from the need to act. Yesterday, the coronavirus case level in wales was 235 per 100000 andi level in wales was 235 per 100000 and i am afraid that will rise again today. We have to act together to keep safe. Do you see another lockdown in wales . We will have to look at what happens in the next days. And all of us in the uk need to look at what will happen after christmas. In the beatings we are now having, we should try to agree not just a pattern now having, we should try to agree notjust a pattern through christmas, but after christmas as well. I am afraid it is inevitable there will be more mixing over christmas and we will see more cases and governments across the uk will have to choose how to act. Thank you for your time. Its been confirmed that shoppers at topshop and other arcadia brands will only be able to use gift cards for half of their orders value. The limit will be in place both instore and online. The group collapsed into administration on monday. Lets speak to the Consumer Rights expert martyn james. If you have a voucher and good morning, by the way. We want to spend it and you are being told now it is worth half the value and the rest you have to make up in some other way. Why is that allowed . It should not be is the simple answer, but unfortunately it is legal and i have spoken to colleagues to find out whether the group is able to get away with it. What is happening is the administrators stepped in on monday and administrators have sweeping powers and their role is to keep the business turning over until it has sold or generated as much money while it exists. It has caught many by surprise. We have seen a number of businesses that have done unusual things with gift cards. If you remember last year we saw house of fraser suspend their gift cards and told people they would be reissued. It has been happening more recently. But it is deeply unfair, because a gift card, you have paid the money, or someone bought the card. You promised to buy things exclusively from that store, and to introduce conditions where you effectively have to spend twice as much money to get your investment backis much money to get your investment back is just not fair. To much money to get your investment back isjust not fair. To be clear, it is not arcadia who changed the playing field, it is a decision foisted upon them . Playing field, it is a decision foisted upon them . To a certain degree. The administrators have wide ranging powers. What is frustrating is the fact that this was looked into a couple of years ago after the collapse of fair pack in 2015 and recommendations were given to the government in 2018 from the law society that recommended having more rules in place to protect people who have gift cards. U nfortu nately protect people who have gift cards. Unfortunately that was not followed up. Iwant unfortunately that was not followed up. I want to keep these brands existing as long as possible, there arejobs at existing as long as possible, there are jobs at stake, and these matter are jobs at stake, and these matter a great deal. But it is unfair. We are going back to the old days of potentially having to put cash on a card, because at least that way it will get to the people you want to buy for this christmas. You say it is unfair, is it legal . It is. I have spent quite a lot of time researching this. Yes, what the company is doing is legal. But it is a source of frustration and many people contacted me yesterday to say the terms and conditions for gift cards on topshop and arcadia websites have vanished and they have. In theory, you could potentially take the administrations or company to court to seek recompense but for the majority who have a 50 quid gift card in their wallet or purse, they will not do that and they will give up. It puts consumer experts like me in a difficult position. I would never ordinarily recommend you throw more money at something to recoup your loss. The firm said it will continue trading for the time being. Again, a lot of people have been told they can only redeem the gift card if they go into the store, and that has a number of repercussions in these times. All in all the situation is frustrating for consumers. It is something we need to be more careful if we buy gift cards for friends and loved ones at christmas. It is something to think about. Thank you. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning, im sonja jessup. The first batch of the Pfizer Biontech coronavirus jab has arrived in the uk, ahead of a mass Vaccination Programme that is due to begin next week. Last night, dr Anthony Fauci, the top us Infectious Diseases expert, apologised after suggesting the uk regulator cut corners and approved the vaccine too quickly. Were joined now by the business secretary, alok sharma. Good morning to you. First of all, yesterday we were reporting the vaccinations of the Pfizer Biontech vaccine was on its way to the uk in transit. Can you update us . Yes, i think exactly as you said in the introduction. The plan is to start the Vaccination Programme next week. We of course have, you know, we have said we will have 800,000 of these doses available by the start of next week. And we are on course for that. Sorry, just to clarify. Are the initial batch, are they now in the uk . Well, some are. But as we said, the programme will start next week. Im confident that we will have all of those available from the start of the programme. You understand why people are watching now might be. You will know there are a lot of people very interested in how and when this will start. It sounds a little vague. We understood that they were in the uk now. Being stored at a depot prior to the next step, which is going out to hospitals. So can you just take us through as and when that process will happen and confirm whether they are now here in the uk . Well, as i said, im confident that we will have all the 800,000 available as we start the programme. And of course we are going to make sure this happens in hospitals, in gp hubs as well. Eventually when the mass role of vaccines takes place, of course they will be Vaccination Centres which will be set up across the country. People should feel confident about this vaccine. The mhra is regarded as the Gold Standard of regulators around the world by scientists. You will have heard in the last few days from the chief executive of the mhra, who has been very clear there have been absolutely meticulous in ensuring the efficacy of this vaccine, this Pfizer Biontech vaccine, and no corners have been caught. This is absolutely corners have been caught. This is a bsolutely safe corners have been caught. This is absolutely safe for people to take. And i know, exactly as you said, your viewers, many people across the country, will be looking forward to the start of this programme. 0k. Country, will be looking forward to the start of this programme. Ok. I am trying to work this out. You seem cautious in saying frankly whether any of it is in the uk or not. Is that deliberate . Are you deliberately keeping that a secret . It has been suggested that the locations and various issues to do with the logistics, possibly for very good with the logistics, possibly for very good reasons, are with the logistics, possibly for very good reasons, are to be kept effectively secret . I mean, of course. This is a vaccine that has to be stored at minus 70 degrees. We have ensured that as it comes across, it comes across securely. But i think what your viewers will be most interested in is that if they are of the prop top of the privatisation programme, whether the Vaccination Programme will actually start next week. Unlike in cancer a nswer start next week. Unlike in cancer answer with confidence that is exactly what is going to happen. People will have seen some of the comments from dr Anthony Fauci, the us Infectious Disease expert, who has apologised for remarks suggesting the uk had been a bit too hasty coming into this process. He hasty coming into this process. He has apologised subsequently. Is it u nfortu nate, to has apologised subsequently. Is it unfortunate, to say the least, given what you have all been said about peoples anxiety . Some of them just running through the territory. That was unfortunate, wasnt it . Yes, but as you said, he has apologised and clarified the point. As i said, the mhra, ora clarified the point. As i said, the mhra, or a regulator clarified the point. As i said, the mhra, ora regulator in clarified the point. As i said, the mhra, or a regulator in the uk, clarified the point. As i said, the mhra, ora regulator in the uk, is very much regarded as the Gold Standard by international scientists. They have been meticulous in this whole process. The mhra is, of course, also independent. People should feel entirely confident that this vaccine is safe. If it wasnt it wouldnt have been approved and it wouldnt have been approved and it wouldnt have got the clearance from the mhra. Confidence is very important. We were talking earlier to one of ourgps. We were talking earlier to one of our gps. They will be involved at a later stage of this process of the vaccination process. Dr zoe harris. 0ne vaccination process. Dr zoe harris. One of her logistical problems, and your business secretary, i dont know if this falls in your territory, she is certain she doesnt have the Staffing Levels or indeed the logistical support, literally having a place to do this work in. Now is there someone specifically going to be looking at that . How will that work out in practice . Yeah, so in my department we have had the Vaccines Task force work incredibly hard. They have done a heroicjob, actually, in securing almost 360 million doses across seven of the most promising vaccine candidates, Pfizer Biontech and others. But the deployment of this, of course, sits now with the department of health. We have a minister who is now dedicated, mycolleague nadhim za hawi. Minister who is now dedicated, mycolleague nadhim zahawi. And he is working incredibly hard, together with matt hancock and the nhs system, to make sure that we are ready, we get this deployed. As i said, we are going to see some deployment of this side of christmas. But actually, the bulk of the deployment will take place in the deployment will take place in the new year. We will see some more of the Pfizer Biontech vaccine available. Of course also the astrazeneca vaccine is under review. Just keen to get through a couple of things. Just in terms of the numbers, Pfizer Biontech is the only one currently with the go officially. How many altogether have we already bought . Well, we have ordered 40 million of that particular vaccine candidate. We have, of course, got100,000, sorry, 100 million rather, that we will acquire of the astrazeneca vaccine. But of course it takes time to manufacture these vaccines. The Pfizer Biontech has to be stored at 70 Pfizer Biontech has to be stored at 70 degrees. I am confident that as we move forward to the Manufacturing Processes will work. And that we will get access in the new year to more of these vaccines. You know, this is a case of being, you know, cautiously optimistic as we go forward. For months people have been looking for what is a way out of this. We have now got vaccines. We have also, of course, deployed the Rapid Testing of which we have seen works as well. So there is a real room here for cautious optimism moving forward. But in the meantime, of course, we need to observe those rules in terms of wash your hands regularly, cover your face and maintain social distancing, in the appropriate settings. Maintain social distancing, in the appropriate settingslj maintain social distancing, in the appropriate settings. I want to ask you about the brexit talks. Sources telling the bbc there are real problems right now. As we reach what are effectively the final couple of days of negotiations. How far apart right now do you understand the two sides to be . Well charlie, look, we are committed to reaching an agreement with the eu on this particular discussion that we are having. But of course, you know, time is short. And we are in the difficult phase. There is no denying that. There are a number of tricky issues that still have to be resolved. But the fundamental point i want to make to your viewers is that we have said all along, right from the start of these negotiations, and i have come on your programme and other programmes, as have other ministers in recent months, and said that we want the eu to recognise the uk is a sovereign and independent nation and it is on the basis of that that a deal will be done. It is tricky but we are working hard. David frost and his tea m working hard. David frost and his team are working incredibly hard on this in good faith. Lets see where we get to. We understand that quarantine is likely to be eased for whats called high value Business Travellers. Now given that common sense dictates that one person is the same as the next person in terms of the potential risk they bring in coming into the country or back to the country, why is it acceptable if someone is high value that they should be treated differently in terms of quarantine . Well, let me clarify this phrase high value. As business secretary i talk to businesses every day. And i hear from them that they have investors who want to come to the uk and want to place orders. Weve got, of course, Business People in our country want to go abroad and come back having won orders. So we looked at this very, very carefully, and what we have it set out, i believe, is incredibly proportionate. What we have said is that exemptions will apply, but only for those people who are Senior Executives, who absolutely need to be in the uk to do that particular role. If they are Senior Executives and they have coronavirus. Whats really important is that this is where they are either going to be 50 or more jobs created in the uk, or 50 more jobs created in the uk, or 50 more jobs in the uk which are going to be protected, or indeed there is going to be £100 million or more of contracts. A Senior Executive, if i may just say, is contracts. A Senior Executive, if i mayjust say, is as likely to infect summary as someone who is not a Senior Executive . Thats a perfectly fair point but of course we have discussed this with the department of health, Public Health england, and they have said that, given the numbers involved, this is not going to have any Additional Health risks for people in this country. So we have done this in a really proportionate way. I want to make this clear. This is about protecting jobs and bringing investment into our country. At this particular time when the economy is facing some difficult times, we have made sure we have protected people with £280 billion deployed to make sure we are protecting businesses, protecting jobs, protecting livelihoods. It is right and proper we respond. We need to encourage more investment into our country. Alok sharma, thank you for your time this morning. That brings us to 7 44am. Lets talk to mike. Lets find out what is going on. We have been talking about fans getting back into the stadium. They dont care about the weather. They just care that they are getting to see the teams i love play the sport they love watching. Id stand in freezing cold any day just to be back. Another big milestone of the robak for football fans. A very special night, according to the arsenal boss mikel arteta, after his side became the First Premier League club to welcome some spectators back into their ground since march. And they saw a 4 1victory over rapid vienna in the Europa League. Being in tier 2, arsenal were allowed to admit up to 2,000 fans into the emirates for the match a small fraction of the 60,000 normally there. But they had plenty to cheer, especially when Alexandre Lacazette, scored the goal of the game. Tottenham secured their place in the knockout round after drawing 3 3 with lask, while leicester lost 1 0, to zoria luhansk in ukraine. Rangers made it through to the knockout stage after a dramatic 3 2 victory over standard liege at ibrox. Steven gerrards side twice came from behind, with Scott Arfield scoring the decisive goal. Celtic lost 4 2 against ac milan. Englands men play the first of three one day matches in south africa later, but the build up has been dominated by the tourists novel way of getting messages to players on the pitch. England hung a series of coded signs from their dressing room windo, during the recent t20 series. 0ne read c three. They know what it means. Ex captain Michael Vaughan says its nonsense and a step too far, but the current england one day skipper says it is in the spirit of the game. Theres nothing untoward about it. Its about maximising information that were taking in, and measuring it against things, coaches recommendations, that data about whats going on. So theres nothing untoward. The game because my governing body did say it was fine before that t20 game and they may well do it again. South africa have not been able to complain. I will be off now and do my own little secret sign. If i arranged to get a three tease in, i would like to find out the weather for the weekend, thats all right . There is no way that is communicable. T for tea, w four weather. And when did you ever get the tea in, mike . I can arrange it. I have heard that excuse this side of the self as well, actually. I have heard it. Heres nick with a look at this mornings weather. I hope summary has brought you a cup of tea this morning or you have been able to grab yourself a cup of tea this morning. 0r coffee. You know what . I do neither. Im a strange. You want the real reason . Of course. Was the truth. Well, just seems to make so much effort to make them all for everybody, because you cant just make it them all for everybody, because you cantjust make it for yourself, ive just cantjust make it for yourself, ivejust decided cantjust make it for yourself, ive just decided not to drink it because then i dont have to reciprocate. Do you not feed your family . Do not feed yourfamily . Reciprocate. Do you not feed your family . Do not feed your family . Do you not cool . I cook but i dont make tea. You dont drink tea because you dont want to make anybody else a cup . Thats right. I dont know if the truth was the best policy in that case it is showing mea policy in that case it is showing me a new side of you. I knew i shouldnt have given you the truth. But i have done that. The cat is out of the back. Tell us the truth about the weather. Yes, i am helped by your photographs this morning. Weather watchers sending them in. It is about the snow so far. Heres one picture from scotland. Some pretty high accumulation is building up, especially on Higher Ground. At lower levels also. It is notjust gotten. This is colchester in essex. A snowy morning commute at the station here. And here is a look at the recent rain and snow radar. You can see where most of the snow has been. Look at the flash is here of lightning as well. There have been there has been some thunder snow around. That has disturbed some of you from your sleep last night. It isa you from your sleep last night. It is a deep area of low pressure across the uk. That is giving us the rain, sleet, snow and strong winds today compared with yesterday. And its keeping it cold. This is how the morning is shaping up. Nine oclock this morning. We have this now putting west across scotland. A lot of this is going to turn to rain. Away from the higher hills. Travel remains difficult today. Travel remains difficult today. Travel will get worse through eastern scotland. It turns very wet with rain this afternoon. The chance of flooding. Drying out for most of us in Northern Ireland and the western side of the pennines. It will turn wetter. Many rain. Some snow over the hills. Wales and south west ink then, some showers. Some snow over the hills. We have this zone across the eastern side of england, wet weather. Heavy rain and heavy sleet and snow. Difficult travelling within this. That will pivot across more of Northern England through Northern Ireland, to north wales and the midlands, as we go through the day. Again, some snow to be high heels but most will be have coleraine. South wales and southern end in getting to see some sunny spells. Very windy out there, particularly into the west. As for temperatures, this is the best today. Many of us will fall short of this. This is the heavy rain developing across eastern parts of scotla nd developing across eastern parts of scotland that will stay with us into this evening. Further bands of wet weather circulating around the area of low pressure tonight. Again, most of low pressure tonight. Again, most of it rain but there will be sleet and snow the higher you are. Some clear spells through parts of Eastern England will allow a greater possibility of a frost going into the weekend. And as for the weekend, it gradually turns drier but it will still be cold. You can still see showers around on saturday. Gusty winds with the showers across South West England. Some may be thundery. You are seeing drier slots too. There will be some sunny spells. Temperatures havent changed much. Still blustery but the winds will ease. Particularly for part two of the weekend on sunday. There will be fog and frost to start the day. A much quieter day. That is at the weekend is looking. Thank you. See you later. Heres a story to cheer up your friday morning. A Shopping Centre in hartlepool has collected more than 100,000 gifts for children who were otherwise unlikely to receive a Christmas Present this year. When i first heard that i thought, 100,000 . Could it be 100,000 . It is. Middleton grange has operated its annual giving gree for more than 10 years. Shoppers can buy a gift and send it to the Shopping Centre, where Charity Volunteers match it with a child in need. Lets speak to mark rycraft, who came up with the idea. Mark, good morning. Surrounded by parcels. Good morning. You must be flabbergasted by the response this year . Unbelievable. Completely overwhelmed. Its amazing. Its absolutely amazing to see what ive seen so far. What you think has driven this . You had to go online. Traditionally you would go to a physical tree and pick off the tag. This time people are doing it online. What has driven this generosity . Well, its important to note that people are extremely struggling through the pandemic. I was keen to make sure i made it really easy for people to select a gift from a tree. So the idea came to create an electronic tree so that people could select a gift for a child and we can ensure that gift went to a child that needed it. Its been absolute are great. Its really easy to do. This is the thing. People are just so giving at the moment. Its completely overwhelming. Absolutely fantastic. Good morning. Something tells me there is a big smile behind that mask. I just there is a big smile behind that mask. Ijust wonder, and im not thinking about names and addresses, as you cast your eye over the presence behind you, i understand they have come from all over the world, is that right . Thats right. So the whole system allows people to choose a gift they think is suitable for a child. Weve got gift ideas on the website. We are getting requests from america. Weve had ireland contact us. It has been overwhelming. As you can see. We put gift ideas onto the website. And people have absolutely bought into it. Ive checked this morning. We have more than 120,000 gift. The most important thing is we are supporting charities. There is a lot of poverty in the country. I was ata lot of poverty in the country. I was at a meeting yesterday. Even in westminster. There is poverty of the country. Its important we can put back into the community. That is why people are doing. As i go through this whole journey, i can see that there are young people as well that dont have the essentials. They are fleeing Domestic Violence or other awful things. They dont have the simple necessities like toiletries. So we put request out toiletries. So we put request out toiletries and we have got bags full of gift sets and things and footballs and exercise kits, punch bags and things like that. And other things like books. The kind of things like books. The kind of things we take for granted, but perhaps. If you are in a situation where you are, where both parents are out of work or there is no money and no chance of getting a present, the simple things we take for granted like a book for our children, these things are here and we are going to get those out working with the likes of a charity that supports families bereaved army people. We are putting back. That supports families bereaved army people. We are putting backlj that supports families bereaved army people. We are putting back. I find it really moving just seeing all that stuff that people have taken the trouble to send to you. Its amazing youre doing. Just one word mark. What you want for christmas . Two front teeth the old gag. Its amazing what you are doing. There will be a lot of very happy children receiving those gifts. Amazing. A person like that organising something as brilliant as that never needs to apologise for a bad joke and telly. Quite right. Its really interesting we are talking about how people are giving. You had my third talk about how people are trying to find some way to help those who are ata find some way to help those who are at a disadvantage. And al murray is another. We know him for his pub landlord comedy routine, but al murray has another special talent which we rarely get to see. Al is also an accomplished drummer and will be playing a live online gig with his daughters band this weekend, to raise money for a blood cancer charity. We can speak to al now. Good morning. We see you in your studio. How are you . Quite a good drummer, apparently. Are you . Talk about being damned with faint praise . i havent seen the evidence yet. That is all i am saying. I am liking the lockdown look. Well, yes. It is the miracle of hair that many people didnt think i had. I actually have a full head of it. I had stopped cutting my hair. I normally shave it all off to be the pub landlord. I sit i stopped cutting it in march. This is the full hairy me. When the picture appeared on screen i thought they had put the wrong picture it up. But anyway, very glad it is you. This is important. You will have heard mark talk earlier about the hartlepool giving, this giving tree. This is very personal to you. Well talk about what you are doing with your daughter as well. At this online concert, to a nephew who is ill, isnt it . Yes, my nephew finlay has a rare blood cancer calledj mml. The l stands for leukaemia. He is really poorly. He is at great 0rmond street hospital now. He has been really ill for 18 months. And the only known cure for this kind of blood cancer, or treatment for this kind of blood cancer and other blood cancers, is a stem cell transplant. Iam cancers, is a stem cell transplant. I am working with dk ms, ive been working with them for a year. They operated blood stem cell register. Its really very simple. You go to their website, go on the register. They send you some swabs, like big cotton buds, you wipe them around in your mouth, leave them to dry, put them back in the envelope, send them to daycare mice, they read the information, some of your Genetic Information, some of your Genetic Information from the saliva on the cotton bud, and you go on a database and if the day comes when somebody with a blood cancer, you turn out to be their match, they call you and you move onto the next stage, which is donating blood stem cells. Its a really, really simple way of making yourself available to someone else who might need your help. I have likened it to buying a Lottery Ticket but someone else wins. Well youve explained it very well. Youve decided, obviously, i cant imagine what finlays family, pa rents imagine what finlays family, parents and siblings, and your family, this has affected you, along with covid. Would you have decided you are going to use your talents with the drum kit, which apparently youre quite good at, and your daughter, who is extremely talented asa daughter, who is extremely talented as a musician, so she can prop you up as a musician, so she can prop you up if you are no good on the drums. What is happening tomorrow night . We are doing an online concert at seven oclock tomorrow night. There is a link on gofundme. During lockdown we rolled a lot of music together, which has been an interesting experience dealing with a teenager and her going, dad, that middle bit is rubbish. We assembled a set of tunes and we will be doing a couple of covers as well. We are doing a concert for dk ms, because, as you said, its been very, very tough for the family. You feel sort of add or remove. If you like a bystander when somebody this close to you is really, really ill. You think, what cani really, really ill. You think, what can i do . How can i help . With a kid you think, if i could do the chemo, i would do the chemo. We have all said that to each other. So you think, what can i do . What willow can do is sing really, really beautifully. I clattered away behind her and take the plaudits because shes so fantastic. So we are doing a concert and we want people, if they want to watch and donate and go on the register, that would be brilliant. I love the way you tell that story. It so moving. Good luck. Hope it goes well. I see the drum kit on the edge. We will watch and see if you are any good. One day. Two early with the neighbours. We will do that now. Lovely to good luck. Thanks for letting me talk to you. Hes quite good, apparently. Stay with us, headlines coming up. Good morning and welcome to breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. 0ur headlines today. Fast food slow progress on brexit trade talks. The takeaway boxes pile up as britain and the eu try to agree the future of their trading relationship. Less than one month after its lockdown ended, wales imposes tougher hospitality restrictions a 6pm closing time in pubs, cafes a nd restau ra nts an explosion at a Water Treatment works near bristol which killed four people is being investigated by police. Good morning. Preparing for the Big Christmas getaway, roads, railways, ferries and flights are planned for the rush this year. I speak to the firm is in charge of keeping us moving. Good morning. Snowy start affecting travel for some of us this morning. By this afternoon for most of us, it will be cold rain, it gets drier this weekend but staying cold. And 13 years after the last episode, the vicar of dibley is back but with a lockdown twist. Dawn frenchjoins us in 30 minutes. Its friday the 4th of december. Our top story. With less than one month to go for britain and the eu to agree a trade deal, the chances of that happening are said to be receding. Brussels has been accused of introducing new demands at the 11th hour both sides will be urgently seeking compromises in key areas such as fishing rights and competition rules when talks resume today. Lets speak to our Political Correspondent iain watson in westminster. I dont know whether you are running out of cliches here about how much time is left, the 11th hour, the clock is ticking. But it is the time, realistically theres not a month to sort this out, there is a number of days. Charlie, thats right and number of days. Charlie, thats rightand im not number of days. Charlie, thats right and im not sure if this cou nts right and im not sure if this counts as a cliche but i think with brexit, things dontjust go to the wire, they go beyond the wire, we actually left the eu two years after we initially intended to. To some extent deadlines come and go, Boris Johnson wanted a deal back in 0ctober, there was a big eu summit then, they are still talking and i think the crucial thing this morning is to emphasise they are still talking. The eu chief negotiator at Michel Barnier will talk to lord frost today, the uk chief negotiator andi frost today, the uk chief negotiator and i think its interesting the kind of language being used, one of breakthrough is receding, setbacks, things are perhaps delayed or put back by 24 hours. There isnt talk of negotiations breaking down entirely which i guess is a good point. Theres a couple of important things happening next week, a controversial bill which the eu does not like about our own internal market is in the commons on monday, better to get any deal hammered out before then and another big eu summit, leaders having to sign off any deal before thursday. It has to be done now in the next few days. On this programme the business secretary alok sharma said we were committed to getting a deal but admitted things at the moment were not going smoothly. Time is short. And we are in a difficult phase. There is no denying that. There are a numberof there is no denying that. There are a number of tricky issues that have to be resolved but the fundamental point i want to make is very clear to your viewers, we have said all along, right from the start of these negotiations, that i have come on your programme and other programmes, other ministers have said, we want the eu to recognise that the uk is a sovereign and independent nation and it is on the basis of that that a deal will be done. A deal will be done if the eu moves and if the eu recognises britain s sovereignty, that was the message coming from the government this morning. The current Sticking Point is apparently over competition rules and how these would be police, the uk says effectively the eu has introduced new demands at the 11th hour, the eu saying it has introduced no demands, no surprises. I guess if we were being cautious, its interesting, both sides even disagreeing over the disagreements so it doesnt mean to say a deal will definitely be done but they are still talking. We will wait to see. Anki. Thank you. 0ur reporterjohn maguire is at the scene for us this morning. John, we heard this news yesterday, early afternoon, late morning, that was coming through. As the investigation is continuing, what are we learning about what caused this explosion . Not a great deal, to be perfectly frank. As you say, the explosion happened around 20 past 11 yesterday, still not even 24 hours since it happened. You can see Police Officers are still here, with daylight i can show you what the site looks like. Those are the two green tanks, the silos, in the distance, the one on the right, obviously is where the explosion happened, what you make out at the top is what seems from this position anyway, to be the roof of the tank, has been torn back by the force of the explosion, huge explosion, people talk about hearing it up to a mile away. All of the buildings here, in this Industrial Area, lots of logistics, transport warehouses, talk about windows rattling, building is feeling as if they are shaken, people heard that explosion when it first happened. The investigation, certainly at this point, will be led by the police but one expects that the health and safety executive will take over to find out exactly what happened yesterday. We know, of course, four people died, one other person injured, their injuries are said not to be life threatening. 0f injured, their injuries are said not to be life threatening. Of those that died, three were employees of wessex water who own and run the water and waste treatment centre, the other was a contractor and police had been telling us specially trained family Liaison Officers have beenin trained family Liaison Officers have been in contact with the families. 0ur been in contact with the families. Our thoughts of course are with them, if you imagine this time yesterday they may very well have been getting ready to go to work. Just to do their work for the day but of course a day s work that very sadly they were not able to return from. Indeed. John, thank you so much. From this evening, pubs, bars and restaurants in wales will have to shut by six oclock. New restrictions are being imposed in response to a rise in coronavirus cases over the past month. Tomos morganjoins us now from cardiff. Tomos, how long will these new restrictions last . And how will they work in practice . Essentially from 6pm this evening, the biggest change will be on hospitality once again. Places like this in cardiff will have to close at 6pm and there will be no alcohol allowed to be served in any hospitality venue indoors, across wales although takeaway will be allowed until 10pm. There will be other restrictions, the closure of places like soft play areas, cinemas, it is a restriction on travel. Lets talk to the chef and owner of this restaurant, tommy. Tell us about your reaction to these changes coming into force this evening. And what your plans will be for the next few weeks while they are in force until they are reviewed . It was a hard blow to take. You have to react quickly, youve got 18, 20 members of stop looking at you for answers. We decided to plod on, to try and do as much as we can, try and open at lunchtime, give people an option but ido lunchtime, give people an option but i do think people will want to come out, hopefully, have a catch up with a friend or family, granted they will not be alcohol but as long as we give them an option. There is an impact further down the chain for those in the industry as well. Massively. There is support for the hospitality sector but so much a Bigger Picture than hospitality. We look at our pictures, vegetable suppliers who do not fall into that sector, you know, its affecting a lot more people thanjust hospitality. Tommy, thank you. Those restrictions coming into force at 6p on this evening in wales, they will be looked at again on the 17th of december. Thank you. Lets talk to nick and find out what is happening with the weather. Some treacherous conditions out there. That is right, some treacherous conditions across the uk, snow on the ground, falling in places as well. More significant snow in scotland, especially on the Higher Ground, flashes of lightning, some thunder snow as well. This area of rain, a lot of this is rain, lots of sleet and snow falling across parts of Eastern England so it is quite difficult out there in place of this morning. Some met Office Weather warnings in force, potentially still quite icy through parts of western scotla nd quite icy through parts of western scotland although the wet weather is moving on. We will find in scotland a lot of this had lower levels will turn back to rain, staying as snow at the highest levels, more rain here in eastern parts of scotland this afternoon. Try in Northern Ireland, turning wetter from the north as it will be across the western side of the pennines, already wet in the east. Some showers in wales, South West England, sleet and snow on the hills, some hail and thunder possible. Through the day, this is what happens, staying wet in scotland, very wet in eastern scotland, very wet in eastern scotland, rain, sleet and snow to the hills in Northern Ireland, wet through Northern England, north wales, the midlands, sleet and snow to the highest ground as we go through the afternoon. Bit of brightness for south wales and across southern england. Going to be across southern england. Going to be a windy day, windier than yesterday, gusts in excess of 50 miles an hour, it isa gusts in excess of 50 miles an hour, it is a cold day, these are temperatures at best, stuck in the rain, parts of eastern scotland, only a few degrees above freezing for most of us by the end of the afternoon. Tonight we continue with some areas of rain, spiralling around this low pressure. Most of it will be rain, some snow to the higher hills. Eastern england, clearer skies, there will be a frost going into the morning, and for the weekend, gradually turning drier, but still cold, i will bring you the full forecast in about 30 minutes. Nick, thank you. The time is 12 minutes past eight. Help is on its way thats how the Health Secretary reacted to the approval of the pfizer covid 19 vaccine this week. The jab was approved in record time, which has led some to voice concerns over its safety. Breakfasts Graham Satchell has been getting reaction on the streets of st albans. A freezing wet day in st albans in hertfordshire. Amid the gloom of an awful year, for many there is now hope. The news that a vaccine has been approved brings this kind of reaction. Joy, relief and thank god. Samirs parents have both had covid 19. His dad is still in hospital. Would you say that everybody should take this vaccine, samir . 100 , 100 . They say its 90 effective, pfizer. Its like olden days, you know, you had polio and other things. You know if you get it, you dont know how bad. So my recommendation is just go and get it. What do i think about it . I think theyve got it very quickly. I think it will be the answer, really. And i cant wait to have it maureen is 76 and has chronic lung disease. If i get covid, it will probably kill me, quite bluntly. So, very eager to have the vaccine. Its great news. Itll be great to be out of lockdown. So im really looking forward to it. I think everyone is, to be honest. Well, maybe not everyone. Listen to carmelo. I think, be careful. Its been approved too soon, as far as i can tell. But im no expert on these things, obviously. But i would be very cautious. So if it was offered to you, would you have it . Right now, probably not. Well, theyre the scientists. As weve been hearing this morning, the first batch of the Coronavirus Vaccine has arrived in the uk. Pfizer biontech will eventually deliver 40 million doses. Were joined now by the chief commercial 0fficer for biontech, sean marett. Thank you very much for your time this morning. You will understand a lot of our viewers this morning are very interested in quite how this process works. Can you go through some of the logistics and basics for us. The doses that are due to arrive in the uk, they have left your plant in brussels and they are now here in the uk. Can you take us through that process. Yes, sure. The uk. Can you take us through that process. Yes, sure. First of all, thank you for having me on the show. Biontech has two approve each of the batch is coming out of the pfizer facilities at belgium. Thats a quality to check make sure its of the highest quality. It was packed on the eurostar and arrived into the uk. It has gone into a safe Storage Facility and will be distributed then according to government plans to the relevant centres. So thats essentially what your responsibilities as a company end. You deliver and then it is handed over to the nhs to be distributed as the government sees fit here. Is that how it works . Yes, the government have their own plans and i know the nhs has been working for a number of months on an extraordinarily detailed plan on how to distribute our vaccine. Where we come in, and together with our colleagues, pfizer, is information. We know everything about this vaccine. Both pfizer and biontech have hotlines to answer any question that anyone should have. Can you talk to us a little bit about the numbers . We know this first delivery was. Go through the numbers again. How many is the first delivery and what next . Whats the next batch that will come in . In terms of precise numbers, of each batch, i cant give you that detail, but what ican cant give you that detail, but what i can tell you is that we made these vaccines in advance and we were waiting for approval. This means that we released them and then they are shipped to the uk. So the uk, this is the first one of a number of doses that will be coming to the uk this year. As i say, they are already made. The good news is that eve ryo ne already made. The good news is that everyone can start being vaccinated, asi everyone can start being vaccinated, as i understand it, from next week in the uk. Reading between the lines on what you say, does that mean that from next week there will be another vehicle bringing another batch in, or do you simply not know that at the moment . People in their heads will be thinking, this will be produced in the factory and will exist there, so why would it not immediately be brought over . Is that how the system works . Let me be very clear. We checked for quality and we ship. It is december, we have committed doses to the uk and they will be shipped every day that we can. You can expect next week more shipments to arrive in the uk. Youll be aware of the procedure, the authorisation that has taken place here, notwithstanding there are some people who, naturally, have questions about the efficacy and the checks you made and your confidence in it. What would you say to people who want to know more . First of all, there three principal questions that you need to always ask yourself. Does this provide sufficient protection against covid 19 . And we have demonstrated that in our Clinical Trial across six nations, that this vaccine is 95 effective. And thats not just that this vaccine is 95 effective. And thats notjust in young people, it is also in elderly people too, meaning the over 65s. Thats really important. Because as we get older, our immune system, which we rely on to protect us against viruses, becomes weaker, so we have demonstrated, and the number is 94 efficacy in the over 65s. The second thing you must ask is, is this sufficiently safe to give to the general population . Thats a really key question. We have tested this vaccine in 43,000 people. The typical side effects are fatigue and sometimes a headache. These are transient symptoms. And in most cases its really no different from when many people get a flu injection. My wife always gets fatigue and feels a bit like she has flu after the flu injection and this is no different. We really appreciate your time this morning. Thanks for taking us through the basics and the logistics of how this works. Thank you, the chief commercial officerfor works. Thank you, the chief commercial officer for biontech, speaking to us from germany, taking us through some of the procedures as to how the vaccine will get here. That is that stage, and now we can talk about the state once they get into the hospitals. The vaccine rollout will be the biggest mass Vaccination Programme in uk history. Werejoined now by chris hopson, chief executive of nhs providers. I hope you heard some of that interview. I did. One of the points he made, when charlie asked how quickly the batches could be brought over and looking at that end of the logistics, he said there are batches that will be delivered every week. So we have 800,000 on order now, before we think about the next batch. What does your diary look like in terms of getting these distributed to certain nhs trusts and being ready to vaccinate from next week . We know the first batches are on the way and we know we are getting ready. We understand they are here and in storage. They are. What i meant by on the way was on the way to hospital hubs. There are 50 hospital hubs and we know the vaccines will have reached those to enable people to start vaccinating on tuesday. I thought the other thing sean said that was very helpful was the sense of, this is just the first batch that has arrived, and there will be further batches coming along, which again is really helpful. Its not 800,000 on order, there are actually many millions on order, but its a question of which batches get deliver when. The good news, as you heard from sean, there are more batches on the way, but we start on tuesday. The total number on order is around 40 million, i understand. That starting point is 800,000. They start going to nhs trusts, and you said tuesday is the first vaccination you expect to be administered. That is when we expect the first vaccines to be administered the question is, who you vaccinate. There is the joint committee on vaccines and immunisation and they have said they wa nt immunisation and they have said they want the vaccine, based on clinical need, to be administered to care home residents and their carers and then the over 80s and then front line nhs staff most at risk. What hospitals are doing at the moment is they are effectively working out how many ca re they are effectively working out how many care home residents and care home staff and over 80s they can get to. Each one of those groups has a different set of characteristics in terms of the logistical difficulty of doing the vaccination, which i can share with you if youd like. Please do, with brevity in mind, but please do because we have spoken about how it is kept and the temperature that is required. You are right to identify that the problem is it needs to be transported at 70. Think of large pizza boxes, thats the way we describe it, it has to be stored in a fridge at 70 and the only way you can do that at the moment is store them inside nhs hospital hubs possibly can only move them four times, and you have to ensure that the two doses are administered three weeks apart, so it is quite complex. What we will do, hospitals at the moment are speaking to care home providers to say, how can we get your staff to come into hospital hubs to inject them. We are identifying in hospitals, how many over 80s do we have currently receiving treatment insight hospital or people coming in for outpatient appointments. The bit on care home residents is more complex. These pizza boxes, in 975 batches, and you obviously dont have care homes that have 975 residents. You tend to have around 30,50, 60 have 975 residents. You tend to have around 30, 50, 60 people. So we have to break those 975 pizza boxes into smaller batches. When we can do that, which we think we can be really quickly, is to ask gps to go in and administer the vaccine in ca re in and administer the vaccine in care home residents. Hospitals are working out today, yesterday on the day before and tomorrow, they will work out exactly how many of those ca re work out exactly how many of those care home staff, care home residents and over 80s they can administer and they will tell nhs england what those figures are and then vaccines will be allocated depending on how me people they can get through so we can me people they can get through so we ca n start me people they can get through so we can start on tuesday. And is there a target for the number of vaccinations to be administered on tuesday . Not that im aware of. Clearly as many as possible, but what i must say, what is important for people to understand is that this is a really long term process. We have to immunise the whole population and the bulk of it will be done betweenjanuary population and the bulk of it will be done between january and population and the bulk of it will be done betweenjanuary and march. We are ready to go, we have mobilised that real speed, this is really exciting and we know we have to get it right. Its the kind of thing the nhs does really well. But this is a marathon and not a sprint. But we are looking forward to the race starting on tuesday. The race begins on tuesday. Chris hopson, ceo of nhs providers, thank you. And that marathon analogy moves us on very nicely. Over the last few days, weve been keeping up with Kevin Sinfield, the former leeds rhinos captain, who has set himself the extraordinary challenge of running seven marathons in seven days. Its all to support his good friend and former team mate, rob burrow, whose story of living with Motor Neurone Disease we have followed over this past year. Kevins aim was to raise £77,777 for robs family, and the mnd association. Yesterday, was the third day of his challenge, and the messages of support and admiration keep rolling in. Leeds rhinos tweeted on this day in 2002, Kevin Sinfield was named rhinos captain and in 2012 to celebrate his 10 years in the role we named the day sirkevday. A true legend who this week leads inspires us. Kevins former school also showed their support, tweeting so inspiring for our students to see Kevin Sinfield, former head boy, running through uppermill village next to our school this morning kevin finished his third race yesterday, like his previous two before that, in his fastest time, 3 hours and 35 minutes. Day four, saddleworth again. Thank you to everyone at bbc breakfast, your support has been brilliant. And once again to all of the viewers. Thank you for your unwavering support and generosity. Its certainly fuelled our last three marathons. Youve been amazing, and we cant thank you enough. Youll be pleased to know no ice bath tonight because actually thats what you do here in saddleworth to warm up we did see a picture of him in the ice bath, smashed it, the best time yet. After the third day of kevins week long challenge, he has smashed his fundraising target and so far raised nearly £360,000. Keep going, another day and another marathon. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning, im sonja jessup. Airbnb has warned it could take legal action against anyone throwing a new Years Eve Party at one of their properties. It follows advice from the met police that londoners should follow the coronavirus restrictions when it comes to celebrating over the festive period. In august, police broke up a house party said to have been held at an airbnb in north london, following complaints from neighbours. A nurse, who volunteered to work at the londons Nightingale Hospital during the peak of the pandemic is among those to be recognised with a Rising Star Award from the Royal College of nursing. Dorcas boamah had never worked in intensive care before. She explained why, despite the risks, she wanted to do it. A lot of the percentage of the patients were all from a bame background and i thought, wow, is this going to be me . Because that could be my dad, that could be my mum. And i thought i didnt want to do it. And someone said take a break. And, walking out, and just reflecting, and just thinking, i want to be here. Thats why im here. One of britains greatest art collections, from Buckingham Palace, goes on public show today. Its looking good on the tube so far, no reported problems, other than that ongoing closure of the waterloo and city line. Theres been an accident on the m25. Three lanes are blocked anti clockwise between junction 28 for the a12 and junction 27 for the m11. And also on the m25, just before junction 1b for dartford, two lanes are closed clockwise for roadworks. Time for the weather with kate kinsella. Good morning. Its a chilly start this morning, but temperatures above zero. The risk of some wintriness. The met office has a yellow weather warning in place for heavy rain and for snow. That is valid until ten oclock. Just as it starts to move away it could turn wintry. Largely out towards parts of east london and beyond. But it will clear through the afternoon. It is dry. You may even see some sunshine. Blustery and cold today. Temperatures between four and six celsius. 0vernight clear skies. Still blustery. The wind dying down. Temperatures could drop low enough for a patchy frost by dawn tomorrow morning. The risk of some showers from the south as we head into saturday as well. The minimum temperature overnight between two and four celsius. For a saturday itself, we have got a little bit of sunshine out there in the form of sunny spells. Showers. Still feeling cold. Mist and fog overnight into sunday. Like i said, it will be a drier afternoon. Sunday, a misty and murky day, and a cold one. Thats it for now im back in half an hour. Surely is here with all the strictly come dancing gossip stop we are taking all of your questions. Send them in. Well be in from 9. 15. Charlie, we may have swapped over our chairs by then charlie has spoken have a good programme, both of you its been a long wait, but the vicar of dibley finally returns to our screens with some special christmas episodes next week. Dawn french is back as the reverand Geraldine Granger who, just like the rest of us, is getting to grips with zoom calls to deliver her sermons. And im delighted to say we can speak to her now, good morning can i say first up, what i love to see, when we speak to people, the effort they make with their backdrop it looks magnificent. I had been told very specifically not to have a backdrop so i havent done that no giveaways here youve been busy. Seriously. We have watched, we watched your most latest charming programme, death of the night with jennifer saunders, the vicar of ee, a couple of other things. Has lockdown been productive for you . I get the feeling that it has. Lockdown been productive for you . I get the feeling that it hasm lockdown been productive for you . I get the feeling that it has. It was. Ive become entirely toffee dependent, we were all locked in. I found great comfort in toffee. I can recommend it for everyone except the dentist. Actually, i was very lucky, during the first lockdown i was completing the second draft of my new novel and i wrote the first d raft last new novel and i wrote the first draft last year and i was due to be doing the second draft anyway so it was really comforting to be doing something normal and everything i was supposed to be doing, just made life feel not to wear it at that time. Do you know what, lots of people had been seeking out things that make themselves comfortable, maybe, sometimes that can be bad connotations but you know what i mean. I think the knowledge that vicar of dibley is back at christmas will be one of those things people 90, will be one of those things people go, im happy about that. It is a feel good thing but does it feel the same to you . Its been 13 years . M has been a long time. Weve always tried to do little specials for comic relief and so on and this year there was a big night in for comic relief at the beginning of the year and paul and richard who write the show, they decided what we would do for that is sermons on zoom for that, i did that in my back room in my house with my husband s camping lights and it worked. And i thought, ina yearlike lights and it worked. And i thought, in a year like this, why wouldnt we wrap our arms around everybody if we possibly can and the great thing is you can be cheeky and funny but you can be real and you can be a proper, genuine comfort and you see geraldine ministering to her parishioners and the way she would and the way that many vicars have via webcam and its a cross between sermons, parish notices, community notices, it is a newsletter. A bit of everything. We followed lockdown all the way through the different months, lots of little tiny films put together and james fleet is there, who plays hugo, he is with me and the kids in the primary school, all of that. Its very jolly. You have described it beautifully but i think we can show some. Here it is. But, be still my beating heart. Ive totted up the totals and the results are as follows. With one point, the maynard family. So, i declare the maynard family the winners yay you look so happy. The thing about vicar of dibley, there are these iconic moments, i talk about this all the time, we call it art menu, we tease which guests are coming up to keep viewers watching. Did the paddle moment, you are walking along, knee deep, as soon as we play that, have you got a screen, can you see anything . Look, jane, look at this, yesterday she sent this picture in. On twitter, its creating your famous paddle picture in. On twitter, its creating yourfamous paddle moment its brilliant. Isnt that lovely . Look how loved that is. How does it make you feel . Fantastic. I hope she doesnt go right up to her neck like i did. Although i have to say, it was very enjoyable. When you are challenged, i grew up with a brother and if anybody challenges me, ive got to rise to it, especially if its something physical, though its dangerous to say that, everybody is going to challenge me to all kinds of things but its true. If someone says this is what we want you to do, jump says this is what we want you to do, jump intoa says this is what we want you to do, jump into a puddle right up to your neck, are you up to it, there is no way i could say no to that. Lets talk about the other thing. Beautiful film. This extraordinary thing, based on history, i had never heard this. Roald dahl, a young boy, seeks out Beatrix Potter. This is based on a true story . Apparently. The writer abby wilson found out for a few minutes, the six year old roald dahl actually met the 60 ish year old Beatrix Potter and he went up year old Beatrix Potter and he went up to her home, his mother took in there, he had a very tough childhood, his father and his sister died and he always loved the writing of Beatrix Potter and i think you see that in his writing and his mother took him to her house and i think he was really looking for peter rabbit and he met beatrix and he reported this. Beatrix potter must have had thousands of pesky little kids running about in her garden looking for apples animals that she had written about but this was taken as a dramatic moment to talk about how the meeting of these great childrens writers affected both of them. It happens at a moment in her life, she needs a bit of a kick up the bottom and it works perfectly. It works perfectly, jessica hynes, fantastic as, a whos who of british comedy, jessica plays roald dahl s mother who is norwegian, she does a great norwegian, she does a great norwegian accent, we were discussing earlier. I always think that is hard to get right so you do not sound like you are taking the mickey. To get right so you do not sound like you are taking the mickeym is more than that, she does a norwegian accent but it has wheels in it because they were living in cardiff at the time. Jessica pulls offa cardiff at the time. Jessica pulls off a norwegian welsh accent. Could you give us an example . off a norwegian welsh accent. Could you give us an example . I cannot that is why she got that part. |j you give us an example . I cannot that is why she got that part. I am so pleased you clarified that. I was listening to it and i thought, charlie was saying it is a really good norwegian accent and i thought, sometimes it sounded welsh and i had never thought that norwegian and welsh were similar but now i get it, she is actually doubly brilliant. The layering of those accidents made it and Alison Steadman is in it, bill bailey, rob bryden, harry taylor, gorgeous little boy, nine yea rs old taylor, gorgeous little boy, nine years old playing a six year old boy, excellent, new young actor. L very good looking. You did not like the pig . You would like to speak well of your cast members. Sally, not really called sally, just a pig would not do anything they we re a pig would not do anything they were told to do just so people understand, the pig is loose in Beatrix Potter s house, you are having to act alongside the pig . Yes, it wont be the first pig i have acted alongside and it will not be the last where did your expectations come from that pigs do as they are told when it comes to acting . I know, there is something called the pig wrangler, you think they might be able to wrangle them but the weight the pig acted, this is not different to many actors, we dangled a croissant in front of it all of the time and frankly, that is how i get to the set. All of the time and frankly, that is howl get to the set. Frankly, that is how we get charlie into the studio at five to six. You have teamed back up, im sorry, charlie, you have teamed back up with jennifer again, death on the nile . This story has been remade a lot, what is different about this . My goodness. This film Kenneth Branagh film, not only does he play hercule poirot but he directs and produces it, it is so sexy and very sizzling and hot. And slick. Absolutely gorgeous. You know, we filmed, we did not go to egypt, everything was recreated in this country to scale, beautiful, great big cruisers, the temples, and so on, amazing actors. It goes on and on, Russell Brand was there. Jennifer and i had to have our rains on, it has to be said, if you put us in a great, become a multi Million Dollar hollywood film, of course we are thinking about how we ta ke of course we are thinking about how we take the mickey out of it but honestly, when you are working with Kenneth Branagh you need to raise your game, Kenneth Branagh you need to raise yourgame, he is Kenneth Branagh you need to raise your game, he is such a good director, you want to please him and it isa director, you want to please him and it is a gorgeous film. Its lovely to catch up with you. Undoubtedly the case, all of these things, vicar of dibley particularly, Beatrix Potter, they are going to give people come exactly as you said, a moment in time, people want something. Charlie, dont forget about this book i have written. I left my heart in the pages of it. It is ode to mother love, and its easy to wrap, as a Christmas Present, and quite a good weapon, if we are honest it has many uses. So lovely to see this morning. Thank you. Take care. Next time, we will get a better backdrop but she was told not to i was, better backdrop but she was told not to iwas, charlie, i am only following orders. Ok i am so glad you figured out charlie does not follow orders at all. I know charlie iam follow orders at all. I know charlie i am so well behaved. Thank you its coming up to 8 45am. You can watch the First Episode of the vicar of dibley in lockdown on bbc one on monday 8 50pm. And the fourth novel, because of you. It is 8 45am. Christmas is often a frantic time for travel and the easing of coronavirus restrictions for five days means road, train and ferry operators are expecting huge demand. Ben is at londons Kings Cross Station this morning to tell us more. This year there are other questions about travel because its normally a bit of a crunch point, but now we have that weird thing where the theory will be lots of people travel in five days, or maybe they want. Also the roads and trains are not geared up for all those people in the system. Yes, they have sort of been used to it being a little bit quiet, and then there might be that five days of rush all in one very tight period, so what should we expect on the roads, railways, flights and ferries . Robert from the Rail Delivery Group is with us. What can passengers expect if they come somewhere like this . It will be a real challenge because that window is shorter and there are also Engineering Works planned that often ta ke Engineering Works planned that often take a couple of years to put in place so it is very difficult to switch them off. The rail companies, together with network rail and the government have looked at our plan and made changes to try and maximise capacity on the network, but it will still be a challenge. What were saying anybody planning to travel is to go on to the website of the Train Operating Company or National Rail enquiries, and check first, book ahead if you can, reserve a ticket if you can, and try and avoid busier times, go for quietertimes if you can, and try and avoid busier times, go for quieter times in the day, and even before you leave to go to the station, check again, may be set upa to the station, check again, may be set up a digital alert on your phone to make sure. And then hopefully we will get everyone where they need to go safely. We are doing everything we can on the trains and in the stations to make sure it is clear of the virus by regular cleaning and allowing people the hygiene measures they need to keep themselves clean as well. Good luck, you have a lot of work ahead of you. Thats the situation on the trains. We know on the roads they have cleared a lot of roadworks and we also know things like car hire firms have said they will be much busier and they have seen an increase in bookings. Moving on to the ferries, what have you seenin on to the ferries, what have you seen in terms of demand . Are people trying to get away and that five day window . To belfast, you have seven days to get to Northern Ireland, with an extra day of travelling before and back. We have seen on the route from birkenhead to belfast a 90 increase. And in over 200 increase from north wales. On a ferry i imagine you have more space to move around and there is more fresh air so they are there fewer concerns about the virus, whereas in planes and trains you are more enclosed. Absolutely, you can self isolate in your vehicle until you get onto the ferry. Modern ferries are big, bright and airy, not like they used to be in the olden days. They are very new and spacious, but we will certainly reduce capacity, so we are down to about two thirds with social distancing, so there is an added pressure on bookings, so please book early, and we do travel 24 7, so there are overnight ferries to increase that availability. All of the travel firms are saying that yes, things might have been quiet for quite a while but they have been operating around the clock, even may be with a slightly reduced service, so planning ahead is always the message, check before you travel and make sure you have a plan in place if you are going away for those five days over the christmas getaway this year. Thank you, ben. A lot of people will try to work out the logistics, its slightly more complicated than normal. Logistics, its slightly more complicated than normallj logistics, its slightly more complicated than normal. I was looking through my social media feed. Earlier today, looking through my social media feed. Earliertoday, nick admitted that he doesnt drink tea or coffee because he doesnt want to make a cup of tea or coffee for anyone else in the office and doesnt like doing that t round. Nick, you admitted it on National Breakfast television, thats absolutely fine. What i will say to you is that i have had a couple of tweets, one from joe and one from somebody who calls himself twisted mystic, saying that the same reason they stopped drinking tea or coffee in the office. Joe said some people take advantage and never make it themselves. They are your brethren. Solidarity. And child it called that correctly earlier when he said, maybe i got Better Things to do. Mike and charlie called it correctly. We did have a famous name in the weather centre, who i will not name, who would always make themselves a cup of tea but nobody else. They are no longer here in the centre, but other people will probably know who it is. Lets talk about the weather, save the ground. Lets talk about the snow we have seen today. Lets put the snow, rain and lightning together today. We have had some thunder snow, in the north of scotland. A few centimetres of slushy snow, rain, sleet or snow across parts of Eastern England. As we go on through the day, for most of us it will be a cold rain. Still a bit of snow to the high ground of scotla nd a bit of snow to the high ground of scotland and Northern England, north wales and the midlands. For most of us, a cold and persistent rain, setting up for a very wet afternoon across eastern scotland. Brighter skies in southern england. Wet and windy with gusts in excess of 50 mph on what clearly is a cold day out there with temperatures rooted in single figures. Into tonight, around the area of low pressure, still spiralling bands of wet weather, a few clear breaks in between but particularly across Eastern England we will get into clear skies later in the night. This is where well see frost going on. The start of the weekend, it will gradually turn dry as the low pressure moves away but it will still be cold. Saturday, still shower surround, gusty wind with showers in South West England and hailand with showers in South West England and hail and thunder possible. The wind gradually using for many with a view sunny spells and temperatures no better. More widespread frost overnight and into sunday with fog patches, in some spots through central and Eastern England on sunday, it may or may not clear, but if that is where the case where you are, your temperatures will not be much above freezing. Lighter wind, a view sunny spells away from the lingering fog on sunday. Some pictures, this is the pilgrims way in kent. Bethany has sent this snap from suffolk this morning. This is kincraig in the scottish highlands, which was sent in from margaret on twitter. Paul kingston took this beautiful shot in the Yorkshire Dales this morning. This was taken by debbie from a glamping pod on a farm in northumberland. She says her puppies are loving playing outside this morning. I hope those glamping pods are warm. Im sure they are well heated. After three weeks of gruelling trials involving snakes, rats and heights, well find out later who will be crowned the first king or queen of the castle in this years im a celebrity. Get me out of here. The show swapped the australian jungle for a spooky site in north wales due to the pandemic, and last night we found out which three celebrities will battle it out for the title. Lets take a look. All for one. And one for all its celebrity cyclone. Cheering. Laughter. Look at this whats this . Its like the terminator. Come on. Whoa the next celebrity to leave im a celebrity get me out of here 2020 is. Shane. No way congratulations g, jordan and vernon. Youre in the final three. No way joining us now is former Campmate Jessica Plummer, who left the castle earlier this week and jordan norths brother ryan whos a sergeant in the 2nd battalion, the parachute regiment. And in full uniform. Very good morning to you both. Ryan, you are looking very well turned out this morning. And i know your brother has been talking quite a bit about you in the camp by way of inspiration. Yeah, ithink in the camp by way of inspiration. Yeah, i think he has talked about the chat we had prior to him going on about his happy place, which has been well publicised on social media. The happy place being, when he was put in a trial and struggling, i cant remember exactly what it was, spiders or snakes, he was saying, got to think of the happy place. He explained you had given him the tools, as it were, a coping mechanism. Tell us more. We chatted prior to him going on. Bearing in mind, jordan chatted prior to him going on. Bearing in mind, jordan is scared of his own shadow his reaction and how he would react. I told him he needs to go to his happy place, no matter what, get the dramatics out of the way and smash the challenges, which he has done really well. Jessica, you will understand exactly what is being spoken about. You need a happy place when facing those trials. How was it for you . Yes, absolutely. Everyone in the camp adopted that mindset when they went down to do the trial. Even now we have a Whatsapp Group to people who have left called happy place. That has made a real impact, ryan. See what youve created. Jessica, how has it been since you left . Its crazy, it feels like a lifetime ago now. But whilst i was there it felt like forever. I have to almost pinch myself when i see it on tv and realise, i was there as well. Its really surreal. Interesting you say it feels like forever. I suppose in some way as lockdown feels like that. If you are working or doing something it is fine and time goes by but when you have nothing to do and you cant get out. We just see the highlights, so in terms of everyday life there at the place, how slowly does time go 0rfeo . Everyday life there at the place, how slowly does time go orfeo . Yeah, very slowly. You wake up and things like going to the privy and having a shower are like going to the privy and having a showerare an like going to the privy and having a shower are an event. You planet. And you spend as long as you can because you spend as long as you can because you need to stretch out as much time as possible. We played a lot of hangmen and charades. We sang and dance a lot. The days felt very long. It felt like there were three daysin long. It felt like there were three days in one. Jessica, some people think of the programme, and you used to have it in australia, there were often character crashes and arguments. Some people were often drawn to it for that reason, as well as the big personalities facing hardship. I sense that this year this was a group of people who genuinely got on. That sounds a bit toa genuinely got on. That sounds a bit to a but was that genuinely the case . Absolutely. Sounds a bit twee. Im not sure if it was because of the first trial we had, working together as a team. In the past they have often separated people at the beginning but this year we were together getting down the cliff. Im not sure if it was because of that or what, but we all got on like a house on fire from day one. Ryan, we have to talk aboutjordan, what you said about him was that he is scared of his own shadow. This is your little brother. I imagine growing up, and little brother. I imagine growing up, and i have a youngersibling little brother. I imagine growing up, and i have a younger sibling and they can be a pain sometimes, but ultimately must be really proud of him, and all the family willing him on. Yeah, i think i speak him, and all the family willing him on. Yeah, i think speak on behalf of all the family, we are swelling with pride. He is a normal, down to earth, northern lad. To me, it can be that annoying little brother who follows you around everywhere, but now he is in the final round. What are his chances of winning . He is in the final three so has every chance, but like all the contestants in there, they are all brilliant characters. And as you say, they have all got on. Shane richie left last night, sir mo farah left the night before, jordan is still in the final three so has every chance will stop and who will win, jessica . love jordan to pieces. But i will say giovanna fletcher. Im a celebrity. Is on itv tonight. Youre watching bbc breakfast. This is bbc news with the latest headlines as brexit talks continue it appears the chances of a deal in the next few days are fading. We are in a difficult phase. There is no denying that.
