So declared the winners. I ask everyone to stay calm, the so i ask everyone to stay calm, all the people to stay calm. With the help of 2000 military personnel, liverpool becomes the first city in england to trial mass covid testing. Pay per view in the premier league is likely to be scrapped. The clubs decide to look at alternatives later this month, after many fans boycotted the extra 14. 95 charge to watch some of the games. And once again for some of you a foggy start and frosty and the sound. Most places will brighten up to sunny spells. Details here on brea kfast. Its friday, the 6th november. Our top story. President donald trump has insisted he has won the us president ial election even though votes are still being counted. In his first public address since the early hours of wednesday morning, mr trump complained about voter fraud, without providing any evidence. Its now down to a handful of key states, but current figures show thatjoe biden is edging closer to the white house with 253 electoral votes compared to trumps 214 they need 270 to claim victory. Heres more from our north america correspondent ben wright. He didnt sound like a president confident of victory. Instead, donald trump appeared in the white house to denigrate americas electoral process and make a slew of unfounded claims about voting and fraud. If you count the legal votes, i easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us. We think there is going to be a lot of litigation, as we have so much evidence, so much proof, and its going to end up perhaps at the highest court in the land. With his chances of re election appearing to recede by the hour, the president made a wholly false distinction between votes cast in person on the day and votes cast by mail. Both are legal and both are still being counted. Some in the president s own party spoke out. On twitter, the republican governor of maryland, larry hogan, said there was no defence for the president s comments, undermining the democratic process. There is no evidence of postal voting fraud and, in georgia, a state donald trump must win to have a chance of taking the white house, his early lead has been shrinking fast as mail in ballots a re processed. In pennsylvania, a state with 20 Electoral College votes, Donald Trumps Election Night lead has been eroded, too. The Trump Campaign has filed a lawsuit to press for closer scrutiny of the ballot counting process but the states top election official has strongly defended the count. The strength of the integrity of this vote is really unparalleled. Same when you vote in person, right, you have to be registered, you go in, you sign in the poll book. All these things are tracked. Good afternoon, folks. Joe bidens tone and tactics could not be more different to the president he is now confident of replacing. We have no doubt, when the count is finished, senator harris and i will be declared the winners. So i ask everyone to stay calm, all the people to stay calm. While there are still votes to count, ajoe biden presidency is not a certainty and his slim lead over donald trump in arizona narrowed during thursday. Donald trump does not want to be a one term president and he is willing to rubbish americas democratic reputation to try and hold on. But it is the states in charge of counting the votes and that process continues, no matter what mr trump says. Joe biden has said he will try to unite this divided country if he wins the election. If donald trump is on his way out of the white house, he hasnt made that task any easier. Ben wright, bbc news, washington. We can talk to him now. We have pictures of pennsylvania, a state where it is close and the county is going on. Take us through what happens next. The counting continues. As you said, all eyes on pennsylvania and georgia because to win the election one of the candidates needs to reach the number of 270 Electoral College votes. Right now, if donald trump is re elected, he would have to win georgia and pennsylvania. He has no other route to the white house. In pennsylvania, on Election Night itself, donald trump was leading by half a million votes. But as the postal ballots have been counted, many from democratic voters, that has shrunk dramatically. The last timei has shrunk dramatically. The last time i checked, he was leading by 22,000 votes. 99 of the total ballots have been counted in pennsylvania but it is a massive state which means there are thousands of ballots to count. In georgia, it is similar. Donald trump is ahead ofjoe biden but his lead is ahead ofjoe biden but his lead is 1709. Again, that is 99 of the ballots counted. Not much more counting to go but the momentum is clearly going one way. We knew this would happen because in these states, they would count the postal ballots after the on the day counting. It was always going to happen there would be a surge for joe biden towards the back half of this process and that is what we are seeing. Iam this process and that is what we are seeing. I am not saying it is impossible for donald trump to win. He could do it if he gets everything still being counted, but it is, i think, joe biden closing in on the presidency. We will keep an eye on it. Thanks. People in liverpool city will be offered repeat coronavirus tests from today, as the uks first mass testing pilot launches in the city. The army arrived yesterday to help deliver the programme, which could be rolled out to millions by christmas. 0ur reporter dan johnson is at one of the Testing Centres this morning. We cannot make out much of where you are because it is still dark. Take us are because it is still dark. Take us through how this scheme will work. There will be two types of test offered at centres like this across liverpool and one is the sort of test people have been getting for months on a drive through bases, which should give a result on the same day after analysis in a lab. But also these lateral flow test, the quick hand held results. They should be able to give a response within 20 minutes, half an hour. It is hoped that will enable people to get a better idea of how much of the virus is circulating and who may haveit virus is circulating and who may have it even if they have no symptoms. It is offered to everyone across livable city, whatever their age, although it will be focused on key workers, people who need to keep working. It is voluntary. It is up to people to book a test or turn up to people to book a test or turn up toa to people to book a test or turn up to a centre across the city but the hope is this will test out the system. Being supported by huge numbers of Army Personnel brought into the area to set up centres and run the logistics. The hope is they can run the logistics. The hope is they ca n prove run the logistics. The hope is they can prove it works, sort out what is needed to make it efficient and hopefully it can be rolled out not just across this area but in other cities to try to help us beat the virus and control numbers. Thanks. We will speak to a professor in about 20 minutes, who is the director of Public Health in liverpool. I think the centres are due to open the day. Borisjohnson has insisted that the four week lockdown in england will be enough to reduce the rate of coronavirus infections. The furlough scheme, which subsidises the wages of workers who would otherwise be laid off has been extended until march. 0ur Political Correspondent nick eardley is in westminster. I think it is fair enough to say many people are wary and tired of these restrictions, so they needed to know there would be an end date and it was confirmed by boris johnson. And it was confirmed by boris johnson. I think that is right. When people saw yesterday this massive, expensive support scheme for jobs was extended by another four months until the end of march, there was nervousness. Does until the end of march, there was nervousness. Does it mean the lockdown is potentially going to last that long . Boris johnson last night, i thought, last that long . Boris johnson last night, ithought, was last that long . Boris johnson last night, i thought, was at pains to tell us repeatedly the measures that have come into force in england will expire on the 2nd of december. He really wa nts expire on the 2nd of december. He really wants that to happen. The question is what happens after. The government plan is to go back to the tier system we saw before lockdown which could mean big restrictions coming back. In one of the tier three areas like large parts of the north of england, it means a lot of hospitality are closed. I think that isa hospitality are closed. I think that is a reason the government decided to extend the furlough so long because if the tier system comes back, it is worried about the potential health picture, worried about the potential economic picture, so wanted to offer support. It is worth pointing out the government did not want to be in this place when it came to furlough. They were trying to wind it down and basically replace it with a less generous scheme. They have been forced to do this by the way the picture looks just now. 0pposition parties say we called for this months ago and if you had done that, may be the economic picture might be more stable. Students at the university of manchester have torn down security fencing that was put up around parts of the campus accomodation on day one of englands lockdown. The university has since apologised and say all the barriers, which were put up without any warning to the residents, will be removed this morning. Andy moore reports. The moment when students tore down what they call a wall. The erection of the barriers had generated enormous anger, with crowds of students marching through the fallowfield campus. The University Said the fences were meant as a security measure to help avoid what it called the mixing of households. But construction started before residents were informed. Students saw them as yet another infringement of their liberty. We have no access to communal spaces and now they are locking us up. They are looking us up from our green spaces, they are locking us up from seeing people in other halls. It is not our fault. It is not our fault cheering. Manchester universitys vice chancellor has now apologised for the concern and distress caused by the fence. Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell said it was never their intention to stop students entering or leaving the site. Dismantling of the barrier will start this morning. The University Says it will be replaced by extra security patrols. Andy moore, bbc news. The British Government says denmark is to be removed from its travel corridor list immediately. It means people arriving back from the country will be required to self isolate for 1h days. Denmark has announced its own Strict Lockdown rules after Health Authorities reported widespread coronavirus outbreaks in mink farms. The Prime Minister said the country would cull all of its mink as many as 17 million. Now the weather with matt. That is a frosty morning behind you. This will sound contradictory. I know its colder but it does not feel colder, probably because it is not as windy. It does make a difference. When you have sunshine on you, you get used to the chill in the air, but it is colder this morning particularly across southern parts. This is where the frost is to be found. Most places seeing sunny spells today after early dense fog. Fog was an issue in southern parts yesterday. More widespread this morning. I can show you some of the main fog risk areas. Anywhere from Northern Ireland, southern scotland. These areas, the north east england down to the south east where the fog is dense. It will take a few hours to shift, lasting longest in north east england and southern scotland but it will clear in those parts. The cloud across scotland and Northern Ireland will break up to allow more sunshine. Showers down through the Western Isles. Most places drive. Turning breezy across the south west. Yesterday we saw temperatures across eastern scotland and north east england into the mid and north east england into the mid and high teens, today feeling cooler. It is the northern half of the country most prone to frost tonight. There will be dents fog in south east scotland, north east england and mist and cloud and fog in the south. Best of the sunshine across the north but turning cloudy this weekend and turning milder. In the west, rain at times on sunday. But not a wash out. We will look at the papers. You have young kids. Are they fussy eaters . My they fussy eaters . My two love food. They eat anything i put down, usually. You are either a good cook or very lucky. It is not going to work with you. I was looking at a piece in the daily mail about how to cure a fussy eater. Every parent has struggled with this. This new technique says it could end dinner table tantrums. This is what you do. As a parent, you ask your child to take a deep breath, close their eyes, put an item such as a green bean in their mouth and eat it slowly by noting how it tastes and feels and then they should discuss about eating the vegetable or the fruit. The study found children who were eating in a mindful way for five weeks liked fruit and veg more afterwards than before. This is how many parents will feel about this piece. Mindful eating, of all these things to worry about. I normally find telling them there is no pudding helps. 0r about. I normally find telling them there is no pudding helps. Or the three simple words, just eat it. You are not leaving the table until you eat it. I have used that many times and will continue to do so. On the inside pages, this whole thing about. We are linked by language, about. We are linked by language, a common language, as in the americans. A new guide has come out, aimed largely at americans watching uk series on netflix. They are watching it and maybe do not understand slang or phraseology. Far and wide, they say, do not be caught off guard. Here is your guide to common british slang and what the words mean. They give examples. Americans are advised that blimey is what a man waits a americans are advised that blimey is whata man waits a might say americans are advised that blimey is what a man waits a might say in happy surprise in response to the words, honey, iam pregnant. Blimey that is an example. The guide offers late assistance to americans from the spice girls to explain the use of the words, posh stop word. My grandma is so posh, she puts Victoria Beckham to shame stock that is the example. Gander. Have a look. Example. Take a gander at that cat in the tree. Those are the phrases for the day. Now the front pages. Of course, all focus on what is happening in america right now. The Washington Post is closely following the us election result online, saying the path is clearing forjoe biden to take the presidency. The times is among the papers here in britain to contrastjoe bidens appeals for calm with president Donald Trumps claims of election fraud. The metro says that the former Vice President was biden his time and appears to be on the brink of winning. It reports that mr trump threatened to go to court in every state that had backed mr biden. You got that phrase just right. And the daily star takes a very different approach calling the president grumpy trumpy. It makes reference to mr trumps tweet yesterday, calling for the counts to stop, and it has a picture of sesame street character the count. Sojoe bidens path to the white house is looking clearer. But what kind of leader would he be . Were joined now from washington byjournalist evan osnos, who has followed bidens career closely over the years. He has written extensively about the man himself. A very good morning to you. Can you tell us . The man we are seeing at the moment is post a vote very calming, very measured in contrast to mr trump, President Trump. Is that the truejoe biden . Contrast to mr trump, President Trump. Is that the true joe biden . think it is. I can tell you with some confidence it is that this man has been through politics at its highest and lowest moments. He ran for president twice before and lost both times. The second time he lost in 2007, he was then tipped to become barack 0bamas Vice President , as we all know. When he was first asked to join a ticket, he said, frankly i think i could have done thisjob. After said, frankly i think i could have done this job. After watching said, frankly i think i could have done thisjob. After watching 0bama up done thisjob. After watching 0bama up close, the way he measured every sylla ble, up close, the way he measured every syllable, his disciplines, he said to somebody in the house, frankly, i was wrong, the best man won and i am honoured to be in his team. Ln, for those people who are wising up to joe biden, more interested with the race in the white house so close now, what insight can you get us into may be side of him we had not seen yet . The interesting thing about him is he has lived a very full life. He has had great su ccesses. Full life. He has had great successes. He has had tragedy in his life. His wife, son and daughter all died. These experiences are humbling by their fates. For died. These experiences are humbling by theirfates. For a long time in his early career, he was known as a blustery guide. He talked too much, he was a little full of himself. He is now in his eighth decade and is a much more settled person and you see that in the way people encounter him. People come to him and say they have had something similar. That happens to him constantly. 0ne reason he is constantly late is because people stop and talk to him about things in their lives. In your book you say he wanted to become president when he was a teenager. Sometimes people are suspicious of people who had those ambition so young. Some people think it is a wonderful thing. 0thers young. Some people think it is a wonderful thing. Others think it is extraordinary for a teenager to bring these things. It is true. When he was barely out of his teens, on his birth date with his late wife, he was asked what he wanted to do with his life and he said he wanted to be president of the United States. He had that blinding ambition. Instead of it being ambition. Instead of it being ambition for ambitions sake, the experience of losing along the way, the experience of having these setbacks and ultimately becoming pa rt setbacks and ultimately becoming part of the barack 0bama white house, which was history making. The first black president finding himself in a position of making history. Joe biden became essentially a more serious person. What we have seen over the course of the last ten to 12 years, he had a much clearer, more sedate view of what politics is about. He joined the race in 2020 because he saw it as the United States facing a moral emergency. He said to people, i have lost worst things that is the worst things in my life than losing a president ial race. Worse things in my life than losing a president ial race. It is half past six in the morning. Someone tuning in might think the race is over. It is not and it is worth saying that. We are not there yet. It is worth saying when we went into this, some people thought he would be winning bya people thought he would be winning by a much higher margin. There will be some questions about what went wrong. That sounds odd, given he might well reach the point but there isa might well reach the point but there is a question, isnt . Be good news is a question, isnt . Be good news is he has more votes just is a question, isnt . Be good news is he has more votesjust in is a question, isnt . Be good news is he has more votes just in the popular vote than any president in american history. What he did not get was the big landslide victory that i think a lot of democrats wa nted that i think a lot of democrats wanted and a lot of people hoped for. They just assumed wanted and a lot of people hoped for. Theyjust assumed the experience of the covid pandemic would have done so much to degrade the reputation of donald trump but the reputation of donald trump but the truth is it did not. But a win isa win, the truth is it did not. But a win is a win, as they say. In this case, he is not there yet but that seems to be where it is heading. This country is extremely divided, more divided than anytime since the civil war in the 19th century and he will have to approach it with a humbled sense of what is possible and you do that by trying to meet people in the middle, rather than coming on as if you have a mandate for dramatic change. Thank you. We will watch with interest over the next hours, days, whatever it is. A covid testing app promoted by zara tindall, the queens granddaughter, has been referred to the medical regulator because of concerns that the way it has been marketed may contradict government guidance. The v Health Passport is supposed to help fans get back to sporting events. Our special correspondent lucy manning reports. It has high level endorsements. Hi, im zara tindall. An 0lympian who happens to be the queens granddaughter. Hi, im mike tindall. And her husband, a former England Rugby player. It is an app launched to try to get covid free spectators back watching sporting events. The fans can see and have the confidence to come back to the sport. But it has been reported to the medicines regulator and this is why. Zara tindall takes an Antibody Test and, a few minutes later, is told she is infection free. As you can see, you are clearly negative covid 19, covid infection. Good news for you as well, mike, you are in the same situation, so it is just a valid test with no presence of covid 19. It would have been really awkward for you if one of us had had it and the other didnt. But Antibody Tests cannot tell if someone currently has covid, only possibly if theyve had it in the past. There is a push to get fans back, but this is false information, claims the professor who put in the complaint. They take their masks off when they are told they do not have covid. We will all be thinking that we are safe at that point. So if people use these tests, they get a negative result and then they go and think that they have not got covid when they still could be infectious. That might mean that people dont social distance and so on. And that might increase the risk of actually spreading covid. Antibody tests take blood and can potentially show people if theyve had coronavirus previously. But the company says its Antibody Test is different in that it can show people if they have covid three to four days after theyve got the infection. But that could still miss those at the start of the disease. The company, vst enterprises, said the test chamber is illustrative. The test shown. It said, in this particular instance, the v Health Passport was demonstrating how a rapid covid test kit could be used. It will work with any test that is recommended by government. Zara tindall is not the queens only grandchild involved with covid tests. Peter philips firm is much clearer that Antibody Tests should not be used to diagnose covid. But there is still doubt as to how useful they are at the moment. The vast majority of Antibody Tests for covid antibodies are not there yet. There are lots of good developments coming down, but they are not there yet. So you have to be very careful with these. V Health Passport could be a game changer for fans getting back to watching the sports they love. Testing companies are trying to help the desire for life to resume, but there needs to be balance with the public being sure the tests do as they say. Lucy manning, bbc news. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Fox good morning from bbc london, im tolu adeoye. More than a hundred people have been arrested during anti lockdown demonstrations in central london. 0fficers urged protesters to go home as they took to the streets near trafalgar square. Hammersmith and Fulham Council has said its planning to introduce mass coronavirus testing for those living in the borough. Following in the footsteps of liverpool, the council says it will be offering more tests which can be turned around in 20 to 30 minutes. The borough has one of the highest rates of infection in london. Work on a new Ferry Service providing an alternative route across the thames while the hammermith bridge is closed is to be accelerated. The ambition to move things forward quicker was announced as part of the recent tfl bailout. Its hoped the service will be available in the new year. Today, the military wives are releasing a special version of the hymn sung at the funeral of the unknown warrior in Westminster Abbey a hundred years ago. Due to covid restrictions, abide with me was recorded with 70 separate vocal parts by members of the choir from across the uk. Fast falls the eventide the darkness deepens lord with me abide. Lets take a look at the travel situation now. 0n the tubes there are minor delays on the circle line and on the hammersmith and city line. 0n the trains Southeastern Services are disrupted between new cross and stjohns because of over running engineering works. 0n the roads one lane is closed westbound on the a2 approaching da nson interchange for emergency repairs finally in North Finchley the high road is closed southbound at woodhouse road because of a burst water main. Now the weather with kate kinsella. Good morning. It is another chilly start this morning. Away from central london, temperatures hovering around the 0 celsius mark. We have a lot of fog, as well, and the met office has issued a yellow weather warning valid until ten oclock this morning. In the densest spots, visibility reduced to under 100 metres. But, compared to yesterday, we have a bit more of a breeze. It is a south easterly, so that will lift the fog a little quicker. It could linger in parts of west london and beyond, but, elsewhere, plenty of sunshine. Temperatures today getting up to 13 celsius. 0vernight tonight, it is going to start off clear, but, again, we are going to see some mist and fog patches developing. And further through the night, a little bit more in the way of low cloud. Quite a murky, overcast start to the weekend. Temperatures tonight staying above zero, around 3 4 celsius is a minimum. As i mentioned, a rather grey, murky beginning to the weekend. It will stay rather grey tomorrow, but dry. And temperatures that little bit milder. Looking at them getting up into the mid teens. Certainly milder overnight into sunday, but for sunday itself, one or two showers. Im back with the latest from bbc london in half an hour. Now though its back to charlie and naga. Bye for now. President trump has repeated the claim that he has won the us president ial election even though votes are still being counted. In his first public address since election day, mrtrump complained about voter fraud, without providing any evidence. Counts are still ongoing in key battleground states. Joe biden currently leads with 253 electoral votes, to trumps 214. The uks first Mass Testing Programme will launch in liverpool city today. Hundreds of thousands of People Living or working there will be able to access repeat coronavirus tests, whether theyre showing symptoms or not. If successful, the government say pilots could be rolled out to millions by christmas. The British Government says denmark is to be removed from its travel corridor list immediately. It means people arriving back from the country will be required to self isolate for 1h days. Sweden and germany have also been removed from englands travel corridor list. We can speak now to the independents travel editor simon calder. Good morning. Do you want to take us through the new announcements. Denmark, this is related to an outbreak of covid at a number of mink farms. Can you explain . Yes a surprising development. This came out at 1 40am this morning. Those of us out at 1 40am this morning. Those of us following grant shapps on social media are used to being told at five oclock every thursday about the new list. But it shows how worried they must be about the latest outbreak. Involving a new mutation of covid 19 which has, in some farms in northern jutland, the mainland part of denmark, spread from animals to humans. There is a programme of effectively eradicating all of those mink. 17 million of them in denmark. Meanwhile, the government said as from now, effectively, because the order came into force at four oclock this morning, no more travel without quarantine. Itjoined the long no go list which involves 1a days of self isolation when you return to the uk. That was after five oclock yesterday, sweden and germany, denmarks neighbours, joined the list. We know sweden and germany have been added to the list and amongst this, england currently in lockdown. What are the implications of that in relation to foreign travel . Exactly, at the moment, the denmark and germany and sweden alert is not really relevant for the majority of people because anyone in england is not expected to travel except for work, education and a few other reasons. Effectively it isa and a few other reasons. Effectively it is a travel ban on the majority in england. The firebreak lockdown in wales, which ends on the 9th of november, that is also effectively keeping people in wales and will do so even when that ends. Northern ireland, people are urged to think carefully about travelling abroad. Most of scotland has looser restrictions, but nobody really is travelling at the moment and of course, this latest incident in which the, forgive me, the transport secretary said i have taken the decision to urgently remove denmark asa decision to urgently remove denmark as a precautionary measure really indicates that these things can happen at any time. If you are in germany and sweden, at least you have until four oclock tomorrow to get back whereas people in denmark planning to come back may be today will find they are self isolating. Really worrying times. Thank you. A mass testing pilot is being rolled out in liverpool city this morning on day two of englands second lockdown. We can speak now to gp dr ellie cannon. Good to have you with us. Are you well . Iam, thank good to have you with us. Are you well . I am, thank you. We will come to the fact gps are still open in lockdown, but mass testing in liverpool. What do you make of this . How useful will it be . I think the honest answer is we do not know yet. We must remember it is a pilot. We have been told from the outset testing is crucial. We have seen through september and october that access to that testing has been problematic. That turns this around, which i think is positive. People will have access to the tests. I think there is some concern we will have a situation where people may not want to testing. This is something i hear in clinic, with patients confiding they do not want to get tested, because they are concerned about not working, about having to isolate. Really concerned about the financial implications. The mass testing will only be as good as the uptake and that is what we need to see over the next few weeks. The message still needs to get through, even if you have to isolate and you may not have to work, you are preventing the spreading of the disease if you test positive. Absolutely, which is why isolating and quarantine is important and why tracing is important. An idea of mass testing is actually, you pick up cases of people who are asymptomatic. The point is anybody can go for test at any time. Picking up cases of people who may not have symptoms but may be infectious. That could be the crucial game changer in this type of testing compared to before. In lockdown, are you concerned people will stay away from gp surgeries . The message from regular gps is please get in touch if you feel there is something wrong. Absolutely. And that would be my message. I have spoken to a lot of people this week in clinic who have called in on monday and tuesday because they think we are closing. Thursday and friday. Of course we are open. General practice is different, it is different for people to have an initial consultation with their gp on the phone but that is changing all the time. In my clinic, we are seeing face to face more patients than we we re eve n face to face more patients than we were even a month ago and before that. It is evolving and we are getting used to seeing more and more people again now. I am aware that Mental Health is a concern for many people and with this lockdown, many feeling worried about how they will cope. How is that translating to you and people you are talking to . |j would echo that. It is a huge concern, whether that be from people already suffering from Mental Health problems and during lockdown they cant access their group therapy. 0r their exercise and lifestyle treatments. There you have the situation of course with people who have not suffered before but due to isolation or financial pressures are finding that their Mental Health is affected. Again, iwould finding that their Mental Health is affected. Again, i would reiterate that Mental Health services are open. Psychology services, you can access that through a gp or often by going online and seeing what is available in your area. It is important we all do what we can through lockdown to maintain our Mental Health. That would be things like going out for the allowed exercise. Making sure you are picking up the phone and speaking to people every day. And doing even small things to make yourself feel good. Thank you so much. Always good to talk to you. Now for the sport. Football fa ns football fans love to watch sport. How much are they prepared to pay . We know things are linked, Household Budgets are tight and they are asked to pay more. Yes, over the last month including this weekend, there have been a match is chosen for pay per view which means fans paying an extra 1a. 95 pay per view which means fans paying an extra 14. 95 on top of their regular subscription. Players, fans and managers have criticised it. Fan power has spoken though. After a meeting of premier league clubs yesterday, its likely this weekends pay per view matches will be the last as the clubs decided to look at alternatives. Many fans refused to pay this extra charge which is on top of normal subscription and instead have used the boycott to raise money more than £300,000 for charity. At the time, the premier league said the idea, of pay per view was defensible as it came at a time when top flight clubs were lobbying for spectators to be allowed back into grounds. Now though with england back in lockdown, any hopes of this have faded, and so it seems likely all games will be shown, as part of normal subscription deals, or possibly with other broadcast partners, with no extras on top. Supporters groups have welcomed the news. Now we told you about the pressure mounting on Manchester United manager 0le Gunnar Solskjaer yesterday, and therell be more speculation surrounding the future of celtic manager neil lennon this morning. It was a terrible night for the scottish champions, in the europa league. We heard yesterday the furlough scheme will be extended till the end of march, and will continue to cover the wages of workers who are unable to do theirjob because of coronavirus restrictions. Chancellor rishi sunak has also extended help for the self employed. Our business correspondent, Katie Prescott is in the london newsroom with more. Good morning. Good to see you. There are some details that need trashing out because of the extension of the furlough scheme. This will be such welcome news to so many people, particularly in the run up to christmas because it gives certainty aboutjobs christmas because it gives certainty about jobs and businesses, christmas because it gives certainty aboutjobs and businesses, the time to plan. It is a huge change from what the chancellor had planned, which was to wrap up the scheme at the end of october. It shows how concerned the government is about jobs, the economy in the long term effects of the pandemic. 3 Million People were still on furlough in 0ctober people were still on furlough in october and that number is expected to go up now, as you can imagine with lock downs around the country continuing. Lets take a look at how the scheme has developed. At at the start of the first lockdown, the word furlough suddenly became very familiar. The word furlough the aim of the scheme was simple, a grant to pay 80 of the wages of those who could not work because of coronavirus restrictions. Since its start, over 9 Million People have been supported by it. But as restrictions eased, the scheme was being wound down, due to end on the 31st of october. A less generous replacement was planned. But last saturday, borisjohnson announced a new four week lockdown in england with businesses across the country told to close their doors. And, at the same time, he announced a month long extension of the furlough scheme across the uk, broadly similar to the original. But the chancellor has now said the scheme will run until the end of march a huge relief to many businesses and their staff. The extension of the furlough scheme is undoubtedly positive. My team will have some income for that period of time. The problem is that there may not be a business that is as strong at the end of it because we will have a heavily reduced income. We would typically be bringing in 80 of our profit for the year during november and december and i was counting on that for our recovery. There was also an extension of the scheme designed to help the self employed and to Business Loan programmes. But about 3 Million People are still falling through the cracks of government help. Being ineligible for the grants has made me primarily very angry and very disheartened. We put money aside for many years to cover ourselves for this kind of situation in terms of maybe a small window of time where we do not have work but we could never have seen Something Like this happening with no idea as to when we are going to be able to work again and when the money is going to run out. The chancellors measures have been criticised for coming too late in the day for many businesses who had already decided to let people go. In response, the government says, anyone made redundant after the 23rd of september can be rehired and put back on furlough. At a cost of more than £50 billion so far, its hugely expensive but the government feels it is better than the human cost of mass unemployment. Katie prescott, bbc news. Everyone living or working in liverpool city will be offered repeat coronavirus tests from today, whether they have symptoms or not. Its the first Mass Testing Programme, and is essentially a pilot experiment, which may help avoid more lockdowns in the future. So hows it going to work . We can speak now to liverpools director of Public Health, professor matt ashton. Professor ashton, thank you for your time this morning. An important day for the city of liverpool. Can you give us the basic explainer . If i was waking up in liverpool today and i decided for whatever reason i was symptomatic or asymptomatic and wa nted symptomatic or asymptomatic and wanted a test, what would happen next . You could go on to our website and book a test and they will give you a list of options as to which side is open now and you could book the test and turn up and get tested. We also have walkins available. It is happening at pace, it really is, it is so busy. A number of sites will come alive today. 0ver it is so busy. A number of sites will come alive today. Over the next few days will get even more sites running. You are saying, i can go online. Are you confident if i go online, has seen when i get a test . Theyre walking, online, has seen when i get a test . They re walking, presumably, online, has seen when i get a test . Theyre walking, presumably, there is no time frame around that. What about cues . Are you worried there are too many people . We have got a managed process that will help people get through quickly and safely. The important bit here is we are going to have significant capacity over the weekend and beyond. So we have got around. Up to 35 mobile testing units. Each an empty 400 tests a day. There are £16 and test a day that can be done via that route. The alternative testing sites, we have 50 of those that de 1000 a day so that is 50,000 people. It does not mean we can fill that capacity but we had plenty of capacity but we had plenty of capacity for people. Will the experiment lasted long enough to give any tangible results . That is a great question. We are working at pace to develop it. What i want to absolutely make sure is that the pilot to last long enough to see the impact of it. We are open for an initial ten days. We are able to expand it, extender and make sure the pilot sets was that this is a huge pilot of massive importance to the whole country. Are you saying it will last longer than the ten days that are scheduled . Yes, it well. The point of this is to get the point of this is to get physically tested. In order to do that we have to have capacity for a long enough period to get people tested. The lateral flow test mother test that can be done, if you like and maybe some of the walk in places and you get a result in 20 minutes. Are you confident it is a safe test . Is it giving the right results . It is new technology, which is why we are piloting it. The validation data shows if you get a negative test back, to all intents and purposes you are negative and if you get a positive test back, you are highly likely to be infectious with covid and we asked people to have a second test to make absolutely sure that they are positive. Can you just go through for us, what happens . Someone goes to a and they get a positive test. Are positive. Can you just go through for us, what happens . Someone goes to a walk in and they get a positive test. Ill be expected to wait there, i think you said it takes 20 minutes . The big question remains, what happens to those people if they had tested positive . How do you make sure they then do the right thing . This is pa rt then do the right thing . This is part of the whole pilot. It is asking people to do the right thing and checking that people do. We had and checking that people do. We had a huge Communication Campaign behind it with transparency behind the purpose of the campaign and what we wa nt purpose of the campaign and what we want people to do. On the first point, people will turn up and be tested and they will be given the result within 20 minutes, half an hour and told what to do next as a result. What would success look like . We are not going to put a target on it. We want to get as many people bought into the idea as to why we want to test the whole city and get as many people tested in that window as possible. Success is lowering the levels of the virus, lowering the levels of the virus, lowering the level of infection in the city. Your advice to people, there are people in liverpool who will be watching and listening. Just be very clear about who should come forward , be very clear about who should come forward, is it absolutely everyone . We are asking absolutely everybody to think through the benefits of getting themselves tested. You do not need to be symptomatic me you do not need to be symptomatic me you do not need to have symptoms. It is asymptomatic as well. Anyone he wa nts to asymptomatic as well. Anyone he wants to have a test can have access toa wants to have a test can have access to a test. Go on the government website, look at the council website. Look at the local media and website. Look at the local media and we will give information about how to access those tests. We had nothing to lose. We are in a trailblazing place in the city. We have. It is about as grabbing hold of our own destiny and lowering levels of infection in the city so we can accept lockdown in a much stronger position. If it turns out that a much larger proportion of people test positive and you perhaps thought, and we literally do not know until the tests take place, that could require a lotta people in liverpool to go into self isolation. That clearly is one possibility you must have thought through. This is a case finding exercise, asymptomatic case finding exercise, asymptomatic case finding exercise, asymptomatic case finding for covid, and it is a pilot. We will learn what works and what needs to be improved. 0ne pilot. We will learn what works and what needs to be improved. One thing is going to be we will find more cases and the infection rate will go up cases and the infection rate will go up in the short term and it allows us up in the short term and it allows us to respond to that. There will be implications for this and for Contact Tracing and there will be implications for workforce disruption. We will work with people to get over the hump. The messages there will be a little bit of short term pain when we get it running in order for long short term pain when we get it running in orderfor long term and it allows us to respond to that. There will be implications for this and for Contact Tracing and there will be implications for workforce disruption. We will work with people to get over the hump. The messages there will be a little bit of short term pain when we get it running in order for long term benefit. Can i ask about the role of the military . What is the nature of the military . What is the nature of the role they are performing . They are crucial. They are providing Logistical Support to an alice to roll out the testing across the city. Without them, we could not do it. We asked for their help with this endeavour. Brilliant Partnership Working with them and a fantastic relationship with them. They are putting their feet on the ground to allow Testing Centres to be deployed across the whole city and then said for the lateral flow testing, they actually carry out the testing, they actually carry out the testing for us. You mentioned about the possibility of extending this scheme and that is what you thought would happen. Can you declare unilaterally, as director of Public Health for liverpool, does it have to be ok nationally by the government . It is very much led by Us Government . It is very much led by us locally, nationally, giving us the support we need to make the pilot a success and i am not anticipating any problems. We will do what is right for the city and write for the pilot. Thank you very much. The pilot system begins today. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. It is a southeasterly, so that will lift the fog a little quicker. Good morning welcome to breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. 0ur headlines today. Asjoe biden tightens his grip on the white house, donald trump makes more unsubstantiated claims of voting fraud. If you count the legal votes, i easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election. Joe biden appeals for calm and says democracy sometimes requires a little patience. We have no doubt that when the count is finished, senator harris and i will be declared the winners. Soi so i ask everyone to stay calm, all the people to stay calm. With the help of 2,000 military personnel, liverpool becomes the first city in england to trial mass covid testing. Supporters groups have welcome the likely end of premier league pay per view matches. Clubs are expected to look at alternatives later this month, after many fans boycotted the extra £14. 95 charge to watch some of the games. And this morning it is frosty and foggy for some with dense fog patches in eastern areas but most places will brighten up. Details on that and that we can focus. The weekend forecast. Its friday the 6th november. Our top story. President donald trump has insisted he has won the us president ial election even though votes are still being counted. In his first public address since the early hours of wednesday morning, mr trump complained about voter fraud, without providing any evidence. Its now down to a handful of key states, but current figures show that joe biden is edging closer to the white house with 253 electoral votes compared to trumps 214 they need 270 to claim victory. We are seeing donald trump addressing the nation earlier this morning. Ben joins us now from washington. Good morning. Just after 7am and people are waking up wondering where we are with the race. It is an extraordinary situation as it is poised. Yes. It is moving fast. All eyes on two critical state still counting that have a large number of Electoral College votes which is important in the context of the us election. Georgia and pennsylvania. Since i last spoke to you, we have had more votes reported in pennsylvania that have cut donald trump s lead to under 20,000. To just over 18,000. Votes from the heavily democratic area of Philadelphia County. 96 of the total votes in that state have been counted but there are more than 100,000 still to come in, many from democratic leaning areas said the Joe Biden Campaign will be confident about the direction of travel in pennsylvania. Georgia, more figures. Donald trump s lead is 1267 with 99 of the votes counted. It is critical to remember that donald trump cannot win the presidency u nless trump cannot win the presidency unless he wins pennsylvania and georgia. This is why the momentum is with joe georgia. This is why the momentum is Withjoe Biden. Georgia. This is why the momentum is with joe biden. The georgia. This is why the momentum is Withjoe Biden. The reason figures are shifting like this at this stage is because joe biden are shifting like this at this stage is becausejoe biden encouraged democrats to vote by mail and in all the states, these are the ballots they counted after the ballots counted on the day itself so there would always be a lag before we got the results of the mail in ballots and that is what we are seeing. Potentially in the next few hours we could know who the president will be. It illustrates it well, when you listen to the us networks following individual counties within the states. They say we have 80 votes from one little place in one state and they say all of these tiny numbers now become pivotal. Absolutely. Poring over returns from individual counties notjust absolutely. Poring over returns from individual counties not just to absolutely. Poring over returns from individual counties notjust to see how the votes adult but to get an impression of how that will. How it looks across the rest of the state. Joe biden is winning 80 of the postal ballots in one county, you can then make projections how it might apply to the rest of the state and that is what the us networks are doing. The networks have been cautious, saying quite rightly that nothing is sorted and decided until every vote is counted but as i said, the direction of travel at the moment in these two critical states is one way and moving fast. We are in the middle of the night but the cou nts in the middle of the night but the counts are going on and they have these ballots reported every half hour. We could get a clarification of the picture pretty soon. Dollops of the picture pretty soon. Dollops of ballots. I like that. A very visual phrase. It explains it. What kind of tests will be carried out . Good morning, two types of test will be done and they are putting things in place and people should be able to turn up to get tested from around midday. There will be traditional swabs we have seen available for months but they will be available to anyone who wants one of any age and occupation, regardless of symptoms. And there will be rapid tests that can give the resulting 20 minutes, half an hour. That is the game changer Officials Say that will enable people work out whether they are carrying the virus quickly and then they will hopefully be able to isolate and hopefully get the numbers down. Everybody in liverpool city itself, not merseyside, not the wider region, just the city that is pa rt wider region, just the city that is part of the pilot will be able to ring up and book a test. Some will be invited, some will turn up to centres like this and be tested insta ntly. Centres like this and be tested instantly. And the aim of the project is to work out notjust how to get virus numbers down in liverpool but whether this can be rolled out across other cities across the country, a huge effort involving 2000 Army Soldiers who will put this in place. They say this is the key to getting things sorted here. Thanks. They are locking us up from our green spaces, they are locking us up from seeing people in other halls. It means people arriving back from the country will be required to self isolate for 14 days. Denmark has announced its own Strict Lockdown rules after Health Authorities reported widespread coronavirus outbreaks in mink farms. The Prime Minister said the country would cull all of its mink as many as 17 million. Heres matt with a look at this mornings weather. Tell us what is happening. A glorious sunrise there. A beautiful day. I am enjoying the cold, crisp mornings. They are my favourite type of modelling. We have seen lovely sunrise pictures so far. This is from the south east of england. Frosty in central and southern england with temperatures as low as 3 england with temperatures as low as 3 in south 0xfordshire. Most will see sunny spells but there is fog around. Just about anywhere from parts of Northern Ireland, southern scotla nd parts of Northern Ireland, southern scotland south there are dense patches. It is these areas marked in yellow where there are met Office Warning is in place of fog at its worse over the next few hours. It will take a while before the fog shifts. A frosty start but lots of sunshine to come through the day and a developing breeze in the south west. In Northern Ireland, a brighter day than yesterday. A little bit of rain in the Western Isles. A breeze picking up here but gentle winds elsewhere. The wind taking yesterdays cold air a little bit further north. These areas tonight we will see a frost develop. Cloud and fog developing across the south. And into the central belt of scotland. A frosty start across the northern half of the country tomorrow but through the weekend it will turn milder. After a sunny start away from the south it will turn cloudy and on sunday rain in the west at times. More in half an hour. Lets return to the us election where counting continues injust a handful of key states. The margins are still very tight lets take a look at the current figures. Joe biden appears to be edging ever closer to the white house he has 253 Electoral College votes, whilst President Trump has 214. If biden secures his home state of pennsylvania he will reach that important number of 270. This is a camp station in philadelphia and you will know how important philadelphia may turn out to be counting station. What we know by now is the postal ballots are coming in later and they are still being counted. It may be we do not need to get as far as the philadelphia final vote count before the election is declared because of the election is declared because of the other battlegrounds, arizona, georgia, nevada, North Carolina are key. We can hearfrom some georgia, nevada, North Carolina are key. We can hear from some voters who have been waiting patiently for that result. It is enough to make you sick, the way things are going. Its been a rough four years. I hope its over. I guess it is what is and whatever it turns out to be, we will have to live with it. I am, honestly, pretty disappointed. Somehow, im more disappointed this time than last time. Honestly, i dont know why we have to wait so long. It seems like they should have been able to start counting those votes earlier because they did have early voting, so. The good news is that we voted, that is the best news of all. The unfortunate news is it is going to take a while for us to find out who won, and thats fine, thats fine. Were going to get through this, weve been through a lot worse. I think everybody has just got a sense of anxiety right now and were just trying to see what happens. Im ok with a tight battle. A test of patience is what the American People are going to have to learn. I think to get the right count we just have to be patient. This is the greatest country in the world. Well get through it. People will come to their senses and well move forward as a nation. Were joined now from chicago by laura schwartz, former advisor to president clinton, along with us political analyst eric ham, whos in washington this morning. Good morning to you both. Hello to you both. We were hearing from some voters who are using words like, i am feeling really anxious, we have got to be patient. I want to find out first of all, laura, how are you feeling . I really think that patience is wearing thin. This was a lwa ys patience is wearing thin. This was always a path for a joe Biden Victory because mailing votes are something he has been saying we have got to do. Keep yourself safe from coronavirus, go and vote early. Some states count the male invades, like florida, 22 days before the election mailin. Florida, 22 days before the election mail in. 0ther florida, 22 days before the election mail in. Other states like pennsylvania that the mail in ballot needs to arrive before election date will be postmarked on election day and arrive in the Election Office within 72 hours and it will be counted as the rest. These are not fraudulent ballots and people are not still casting ballots, they are all legitimate ballots past and they are received and being counted. It isa are received and being counted. It is a patient protest and we did not all vote in one day this year so we will not learn on one day this year. Laura is being patient. How are you feeling . We are seeing democracy at work. There was concern about how this vote would go. A lot of municipalities were bracing for tension is rising between the two camps of supporters but none of that really happened. We have seen some pushing for the count to stop in certain places but overall what we have seen is a level of harm, to actually allow the process to play out and more importantly we saw tens of millions of americans letting voices be heard in terms of what they want to see for the vision of they want to see for the vision of the country over the next four years. Let me put a scenario to you which is, ifjoe biden were to get georgia or nevada, which is perfectly possible. I know they are very tight. If that were to happen and it remains the case. It technically takes in over 270. If at that point in time it remained the case that donald trump had outstanding Legal Business to be gone through in relation to votes, for which there is no evidence that he is claiming there are anomalies and fraud. If there is two things happened simultaneously, what happens then . I love how eric underlines this is democracy in action. It seems the only one not to get that memo is President Trump. 0n the News Conference tonight, his twitter feed, so many the News Conference tonight, his twitterfeed, so many of the News Conference tonight, his twitter feed, so many of them the News Conference tonight, his twitterfeed, so many of them had the News Conference tonight, his twitter feed, so many of them had to be shown as Bad Information by saying we need to stop the account of these votes, they are fraud. The georgia and michigan ones have been tossed at the pennsylvania one has been addressed. I really do believe we are on track to seejoe biden get to 270 because pennsylvania in the next few hours. As for georgia, right now they are even. Georgia, if you are within a half percentage point, there will be a recount. So there are different legal manoeuvres based on fraud. If the state does not see it that they can make an appeal to a federal court. It may not go very far because we are not seeing fraud. At this point then it would be more widespread. You cannot just file a legal suit based on a conspiracy theory. Do you want to pick up on that . I agree. Ifjoe biden gets to the magic number of 270 Electoral College votes, he becomes president elect and then he will begin the process of the transition to a new government. Again, that is democracy at work, thatis again, that is democracy at work, that is how this will play out. President trump will continue on this path fighting legally to try to overturn the election. The problem is he does not have a claim that actually bears any fruit regarding fraudulent ballots. Also what we are seeing is we are not seeing a theme in his argument. He is suggesting in certain areas the beds should not be counted, whereas in other places he would like to see voting continued. Their votes. We are seeing a helter skelter approach by the president which does not meet the bar of legality for courts to actually render a decision that something actually happened. I think joe biden will be wise to continue to move forward with the transition, to move forward with the transition, to stepping on january the 20th, to move forward with the transition, to stepping onjanuary the 20th, as president of the United States. To step in. The danger is that Donald Trumps supporters, no matter the result, that ferments to a degree and people are worried about that, arent they . They are. I had to say, joe biden has been using is one of his closing arguments in the last week especially before election day that he will notjust be the president of the democrats but the president of the democrats but the president of the democrats but the president of america, representing democrats that voted for him, republicans that voted for or against him but that is how he will approach thejob. Against him but that is how he will approach the job. Given against him but that is how he will approach thejob. Given how against him but that is how he will approach the job. Given how close the election is, he needs to put that into action so he can practice what he preached and really allay those fears and look at where they can reach out, whether programmes or policies to get those folks on board or get them listening and seeing that this guy really does mean what he says. I think that will be a big task but i think he can do it. Good to catch up with me this morning. Eric, nice to talk to you again. We look closely as to what will happen over the next few hours. Thank you. Many Remembrance Day services may have been cancelled this year but the Royal British legion is calling on the public to come together in other ways to honour those who have served in our armed forces. For the first time in poppy appeal history, there wont be any collectors on the streets and people will be observing the two minute silence from their doorstep. Graham satchell reports. This was Armistice Day in bedworth in warwickshire last year. Theyve held a parade here since 1921 but this year, in lockdown, things will be different. We have produced 19,000 of these documents these flyers to put in peoples windows, asking them to remember the fallen on Armistice Day at 11 oclock along with us on their doorstep. The ceremony in bedworth normally ends with thousands of poppies dropped from the sky over the war memorial. It is one tradition theyre determined to maintain with a slight change. Were going to take the poppies to the people. Were going to direct it around the town the perimeter of the town, so that people, on their doorsteps, will get the poppies, hopefully. The parade is coming to you, or the poppies are coming to you. Can you see that all right . Yes. How lovely must be a very proud moment for you, betty. It was wonderful. This is 97 year old betty webb getting her mbe. Betty is a veteran of bletchley park. Bletchley, home to the code breakers, credited with shortening the war, saving countless lives. Betty has laid a wreath on Armistice Day for as long as she can remember but not this year. Sadly, of course, this year we dont quite know what were going to do about marking the occasion. I just think its very sad that we have got to bow to the fact that we mustnt congregate in big numbers. I can see that but its still, for me, its very sad. Jim hooper was a glider pilot in world war ii. After d day, he flew 30 men and equipment into holland and fought at the battle of arnhem, where he was taken prisoner. We had a lot of wounded, a lot killed. And that was it. And this german standing over me with a stick grenade and others surrendering as well and that was it. That was the end of my sojourn in parma and arnhem. And on remembrance sunday, do you take a moment to remember your lost friends . Yes. Well, yes i do, actually. Notjust on remembrance sunday. On many other occasions. And, yes, the names of many i still remember. In plymouth, nine year old maisie has transformed where she lives from bluebell street to poppy street. Shes delivered posters to neighbours to put up in their windows and put poppies on all the lamp posts. I think we should be remembering the people who served us in the army because they risked their lives for us. Maisies dad james was medically discharged from the army in 2017. Its hard to describe the pride i have for her and the fact its all come from her heart is just truly amazing. The Royal British legion is urging everyone to gather on their doorsteps at 11 oclock on sunday morning, to come together as a nation, to remember. Graham satchell, bbc news. If you want to know a little bit more about how they are going about fund raising anyone to donate money or south, we are speaking to the director of fundraising for the Royal British legion a bit later on. That is coming up later. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Just good morning from bbc london, im tolu adeoye. More than a hundred people have been arrested during anti lockdown protests in central london. 0fficers urged demonstrators to go home as they took to the streets near trafalgar square. The met said the majority of arrests were for breaches of coronavirus regulations. An inquiry is to examine racial inequalities among low paid health and social care workers. The equality and Human Rights Commission will also look at how workers have been disproportionately affected by coronavirus. It comes after a study commissioned by the mayor of london found that black people are at almost twice the risk of dying from covid 19 as white people. All good on the tubes. 0n the roads you can see how foggy it is there one lane is closed westbound on the a2 approaching interchange for emergency repairs 0ne lane is closed eastbound on the m4 betweenjunction five and junction 4b due to a collision. Traffic is heavy clockwise on the m25 due to roadworks between junction five and the clacket lane services. And theres no woolwich ferry today because of the fog. Now the weather with kate kinsella. Today because of the fog. Good morning. Today because of the fog. It is a southeasterly, so that will lift the fog a little quicker. Temperatures tonight staying above zero, around 3 4 celsius as a minimum. As i mentioned, a rather grey, murky beginning to the weekend. It will stay rather grey tomorrow, but dry. And temperatures that little bit milder. Looking at them getting up into the mid teens. Certainly milder overnight into sunday, but for sunday itself, one or two showers. Im back with the latest from bbc london in an hour. Bye for now. Hello. This is breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. Yesterday, the chancellor rishi sunak announced that the governments furlough scheme would in fact be extended once again, this time through to march. For more on why that decision was taken, we can now speak to the business minister Nadhim Zahawi. Good Nadhim Zahawi. Morning. Good morning. The decision good morning. Good morning. The decision to extend furlough, we were told it would not happen. What change the chancellors mind . First, as you recall, we were effectively doing the regional tiered system and working with leaders in liverpool, like steve rotheram, delivering a package of measures for those areas, tier three would get two thirds of wages paid. As we saw yesterday with the head of nhs england demonstrate the head of nhs england demonstrate the hospitalisation rates were rising too quickly to just rely on the tiered system. We needed to take the tiered system. We needed to take the bigger intervention, if i can describe it as such, of this four week lockdown and i think the chancellor was right to respond to that. I spoke to the british chambers of commerce who said businesses said we need greater certainty over not just businesses said we need greater certainty over notjust this period of november but beyond, because audiobooks take longer to come back. They do not come back on the 3rd of december. There is a lag time and i think the chancellor was right to respond order books. The head of the imf yesterday commended the chancellor by saying it is the best coordinated intervention in the world, one of the best in the world and commended to other countries as well. I think it is the right thing to do. To give greater certainty for businesses that we will support them and support employees during this difficult time and they can plan ahead, knowing they can have access to furlough to the 31st of march. By saying it will be extended to the 3ist saying it will be extended to the 31st of march there is an implication there will be further lockdown is needed. You have laid out the case that if lockdown comes m, out the case that if lockdown comes in, this is why furlough has been extended. Therefore, do you have indications lockdown will happen again after december the 2nd between then and march . A couple of things, one, this intervention will end on the 2nd of december and we will then review how well it is working. I think there are good signs, early but cautious good signs. If you look at regions who moved into tier three, such as liverpool, case rates have fallen by 50 between the time they moved into tier three and this extra intervention was introduced. Nottingham has fallen by 60 . I think if we all come together, do the right thing over the next four weeks, we can bring down the r number to one or below and go back toa number to one or below and go back to a tier system. That is what the chief medical officer and others rightly say is the right thing to do. I see this as the right measure. If we all do the right thing, i think we can return to that. I will not be presumptuous. I will come back on your programme, the Prime Minister will come back to parliament, and look at the data, review it, demonstrate hopefully it has worked and then we can move back toa has worked and then we can move back to a tiered system. Furlough was needed before the tier system was introduced. Before the tier system was introduced there was a clear message furlough did not need to be extended. What is your prediction for the economy in terms of which businesses will not recover that you say furlough is available to the end of march . Furlough has been available even in areas that went into the tier system, it was available until the end of october. When wales went into their firebreak, furlough was available to them. Many businesses have had to either close down all have seen a reduction in their order book. It is only right they can get the Additional Support to keep staff and workers on as they adjust and as they see how the order book returns beyond this period. I speak to two thirds of the economy, covering everything from the auto sector, aero, Life Sciences and professional services, architects, lawyers and a ccou nta nts services, architects, lawyers and accountants and so on. They tell me that clearly this has been a challenging time for many industries. Some have been hit harder than others, aviation was hit and will probably be last out in terms of recovery. Hospitality. We introduced other measures to help the hospitality sector that has been deeply impacted because they have to close down again and only deliver ta keaways close down again and only deliver takeaways in this intervention period. Some sectors have been hit harder than others and we will look at how we work with those sectors. We have put 9 billion into the aviation and aerospace through the bank of england scheme and the loan schemes we have provided. What about those who are self employed and those who are self employed and those left out. Under this scheme, despite the extension for self employed in times of how much can be raised in terms of support. There will be tens of thousands who have had no income from march of this year and will not have income until march of next year. They are called the excluded. What are you going to do about them . In that group, according to this excluded uk group, in terms of suicide reports, a survey found 14 surveyed had suicidal thoughts, three times the national average. There is a group of people who have been excluded and persistently ignored by this government. I think the self employed, the chancellor did the right thing to increase the amount they are able to claim from 40 up to 80 with the additional announcement on the scheme extension. I am talking about those who have been excluded. On the excluded, these are people who have their own businesses. Directors of their own businesses. Directors of their own businesses who would have taken dividends out of their businesses. They have, clearly, had a difficult time. I completely understand that. But we have also put 9 billion into the welfare system to try to help those people who have found it very difficult to get any other income over and above the dividends. They can pay themselves wages and if they do, they are able to take the furlough scheme. They are not working, they are not earning, what will they pay wages from . I meant when they were paying themselves. Money only last so long. You have a small business, you are self employed, you budget from month to month to cover the mortgage, feed your family. From month to month to cover the mortgage, feed yourfamily. Everyday people do not have a years worth of money to top up their income in case they lose it. If they are taking dividends, you are right to say. Dividends are based on profit in the business. They would have taken out a dividend on. The welfare system has had additional 9 billion to support that. If they were on the wage they can claim 80 of that on the furlough that goes all the way until next march. That is my point. Some directors were taking wages and dividends. 0f some directors were taking wages and dividends. Of course they would have seen a substantial reduction in their income. I understand that. We wa nt to their income. I understand that. We want to make sure we help as many as possible. We put 200 billion. The fa ct possible. We put 200 billion. The fact is. We are now going even further. Lets stick to the 2. 9 million freelancers, contractors, newly self employed people who will remain excluded. 2. 9 Million People are not getting support they need and are worried. The selfemployed will get the uplift from 40 up to 80 the chancellor. No, you are talking about those. The uplift is for those people who have already qualified. I am talking about 2. 9 Million People who have had no support because they have dropped through the cracks of the criteria impose. What will you do about helping them . The people who have taken dividends helping them . The people who have ta ken dividends because helping them . The people who have taken dividends because they do not ta ke taken dividends because they do not take a salary from their business, might estimate it is 600,000, 700,000 people in that category. We have put £9 billion into the welfare system to help people get through this difficult period. It is tough, it is difficult. The prudent thing to do is to make sure we intervene in the economy in the best way we can to save as manyjobs as we can we cannot save everyjob. This is not about saving jobs but supporting self employed for which there is no income because of the lockdown because of this virus affecting us all. You said there are 650,000 of that 2. 9 million who will get extra support. That leaves Million People who will have had nothing in terms of support by the end of march and 2021. It is the other way round. The self employed who have had help, about 3 million, that have had the additional uplift. I am talking about the excluded. People who are directors of companies who have taken dividends, directors of companies who have ta ken dividends, profits directors of companies who have taken dividends, profits from their business rather than taking a salary, and some may have taken a salary, and some may have taken a salary and dividends. You know they are not getting dividends because they are not earning money. That is why i say the welfare system has had an additional injection of £9 billion into it. It is difficult, it is not the same income they are used to, of course. It is nothing. How can you say it is nothing . It is £9 billion more. For families can you say it is nothing . It is £9 billion more. Forfamilies that need additional help through the welfare system. That is what the government is doing on top of the 30 billion thatis is doing on top of the 30 billion that is going into making sure we create opportunities and newjobs for people to advantage of. Thank you forjoining us. And now the sport. We have another number to conjure with. £14 95. Pay for some matches in the premier league. If you have all the subscriptions, £70 per month, fans we re subscriptions, £70 per month, fans were not happy to pay another £14 95 for one off matches. Premier league clubs have listened and agreed to look at alternatives to charging fans an extra 14. 95, and its likely this weekends pay per view games will be the last. Many fans have refused to pay the charge, which is on top of that normal subscription, and instead donated more than £300,000 for charity. It seems likely that after this weekend, all games will be shown as part of normal subscription deals, or possibly with other broadcast partners with no extras on top. Supporters groups have welcomed the news. The Football Supporters Association made a statement yesterday the celtic manager neil lennon says a lack of hunger and application was behind their latest home defeat in the europa league. Its their worst run at home in 30 years and after they were thrashed 4 1 by sparta prague, lennon deflected the mounting pressure on him, vowing to change the culture at the club quickly. Rangers blew a two goal lead, as ten man benfica scored an injury time equaliser in a three all draw in lisbon. Boss Steven Gerrard says this feels like a defeat as at times they played the best we have done all season. Its 200 goals and counting for Tottenhams Harry Kane thanks to this firsthalf header in their 3 1 win over ludogorets in bulgaria. Hes still only 27, and third on spurs all time list. An early scare for arsenal but a fine goal from nicolas pepe helped them trounce norwegian side, molde, 4 1 in the end, to maintain their 100 , record in europe this season. Molde didnt help themselves either, scoring two own goals and leicester also made it three wins from three in their group, with an impressive 4 0 win at home to sporting braga of portugal. Kelechi iheanacho scoring two of leicesters goals. A round up and action. So much going on at the moment. And golf, of course. And the solo world yacht race. I will have some on that tomorrow. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Heres matt with a look at this mornings weather. The better on the ground. A cold start in southern parts of the uk. As far north as northumberland, there is frost around. Notjust frost, some dense fog. Fog patches just about anywhere in southern scotland, Northern Ireland, england and wales. The fog is at its worst at the moment in the south east. It is developing towards the south west. It will gradually clear. It will take a while in the north east of england and southern scotland. 0verall scotland and Northern Ireland will have a brighter day. Patchy rain possible across the Western Isles. Blue skies this afternoon after the morning fog. More of a breeze in the south west which could touch 40 miles an hour in gusts towards the far west of cornwall. As the winds are going from south to north, cold air is pushed further north. No where near as warm as yesterday afternoon. Tonight the colder air in place which will mean mist and fog forming. This is where temperatures will drop the furthest and this is where we can see frost. Not as frosty in the south but we will begin with lots of low cloud and fog around filter in the west there will be fog over the hills. Low cloud through the day. Brighter on the coasts. Northern ireland, northern parts of england into scotland, a sunny day to come once the early fog patches had cleared. Turning milder in the south. Mild for all on sunday with outbreaks of rain. That is how it is looking. During the last lockdown, thousands of people stepped up to help others, answering a call from the Royal Voluntary Service. Volunteers did all sorts shopping for others, delivering medicine, and chatting on the phone to those who were lonely. Now more support is needed to help Vulnerable People through the winter, so the call is out again for the public to donate their time. Lets hear from 77 year old Margaret Mackenzie on why it makes such a difference. Well, the shopping was a major thing for me because i dont have any Family Living here. I had real fun lady that did it and she just made a joke out of everything. So she always put me in a fabulous mood when she collected my shopping and i had lots of phone calls asking me if i needed any help, which i thought was just amazing that people were prepared to do that for me. And i used to just text her and thank her very much and she said, i love doing and im always going to do it for you because i love you, and stuff like that. It was really nice. I made her a lemon drizzle cake one day and she loved it. I took her a lemon drizzle cake out in a bag and she loved that. When youre isolated, its very tough, it really is. And that was just a connection with the outside world and. Sorry, im getting emotional. No, it was fabulous for me. I love a laugh and a joke. And there she was this lovely, smiley lady. Just bringing, you know, a little bit of fun. Into a sad time, really. That was very moving, hearing from margaret. We thank her for her honesty. Lemon drizzle cake, there isa honesty. Lemon drizzle cake, there is a little bit ofjoy and amongst what margaret said herself is a really difficult time. Itjust what margaret said herself is a really difficult time. It just shows it isa really difficult time. It just shows it is a massive thing for margaret but the smallest things, the smallest acts of kindness and thoughtfulness matter a lot. We can now talk to Catherine Johnstone from the Royal Voluntary Service and Kimberley Harvey who is an nhs volunteer. Iam going i am going to start with you, kimberly. We heard from margaret. I hope you could hear that. The impact that someones parent attention. I know you are one of those who has been doing it. Can you give an example of something you have been involved in . The bigger story i have which impacted me was an alert i got from someone in my road i had not been aware of before. He was a cancer patient and did not have anyone to take him for his appointment. He was used on relying on Public Service and public transport. It was lovely to not only meet a neighbour but someone he was really vulnerable and really needed that help in building that relationship. I have seen him a couple of times and now i am aware there is someone who needs a friendship and it is great. You do get a friendship and get an insight into peoples lives. Do you feel more tuned into the community, just from insta nces tuned into the community, just from instances like that . The impact on my awareness because i instances like that . The impact on my awareness because i was instances like that . The impact on my awareness because i was living in an ignorant bubble. I am lucky because i have a huge family and friendship network. Not being aware there are people who do not have that level of support and they are vulnerable and need the community a lot more. She is the shining beacon of volunteers. Please do not take any offence but people coming out of the woodwork. I want a better phrase than that. Engaging in society where perhaps they would not have thought about it previously. As the chief executive once said i could not be prouder about the way britain has responded to the covid crisis and supporting the nhs. It is really humbling. You see human beings at their best. From margaret in kimberley, what you see is they are both getting a lot out of that relationship. Margaret gets support to keep her confident and safe and allows her to keep moving forward in this tough time. Kimberley gets an amazing experience and feels really useful. She did not mention that she has been furloughed. She had time on her hands has been furloughed. She had time on her hands i want to be part of britains effort to get us all through. Im delighted we have had this opportunity this money because people like kimberly had delivered more than a million tasks to Vulnerable People since it has been set up. That is across a number of goals. Today, as you quite rightly say, we are calling for more volunteers to get us through winter. If you want to volunteer, look for the nhs responders website. It comes up the nhs responders website. It comes up almost immediately on google and go to, i want to volunteer. We will be absolutely delighted to welcome you into the family. Absolutely. We are slightly short of time. Catherine was giving us the practicalities. Do you remember when you first signed up . A lot of people are listening this morning might think they fancy it. Is it difficult . How often does it go off . Soi difficult . How often does it go off . So i signed on way back in march when it first was put out there. 0bviously, when it first was put out there. Obviously, it was when the app was first created and there was a little bit of waiting for it to come through and what it would be like. It is an app. A siren goes off on your phone that there is something there. The information is black and white. You might be calling someone to check in and chat, you might be fetching shopping. A prescription, giving a taxi rank. It is there in black and white. 0nce giving a taxi rank. It is there in black and white. Once you have completed the job you sign up for the next one which comes through. Some days you might get one or two alerts. 0ne some days you might get one or two alerts. One day i did about 13 in a dataset each day is different and eve ryo ne dataset each day is different and everyone you are speaking to this different as well. A day and each day is different. If you are in charge of recruitment, you did a pretty good job then. I think we can all agree about that, cant we . Absolutely. Well done to both of you. We saw that with margaret on just how much people like you are helping her. Catherinejohnson, chief executive. If people are watching this money and feel they can benefit from support, they can ring the support line. With the lockdown just being announced, ring the support line. With the lockdownjust being announced, there are a lot of anxious people, so we are a lot of anxious people, so we are really keen to make sure the support is there, so step forward and volunteered to support your fellow human beings. Thank you. Thank you very much. Catherine and kimberly, who is one of the best exa m ples of kimberly, who is one of the best examples of a volunteer ever, and who has made friends. A round of applause for you there. I will reiterate the number. 08081963646. People come from all sorts of places. If youre tuning into strictly this saturday night, you might want to remember the popcorn movie week has arrived, with the dancers performing to music from films like grease and moulin rouge. In a moment, well be speaking to contestant jj chalmers and his partner amy dowden, but first lets take a look at their dance from last week. First things first, ima say all the words inside my head im fired up and tired of the way that things have been, oh ooh the way that things have been, oh ooh from heartache from the pain taking my message from the veins speaking my lesson from the brain seeing the beauty through the. Pain you made me a, you made me a believer, believer pain you break me down and build me up lets speak to jj and amy, who are at elstree studios. Good morning to you both, by the way. Wonderful cape work. And ijust say that . Well done. That was a labour of love and a massive hurdle to overcome. It was starting at less than zero. I was not going to let it defeat me. It was great watching at back. We have moved on to a new dance. Nice to look back and celebrate something that went my way. Amy, you have to talk to us about the way jj is learning. Way. Amy, you have to talk to us about the wayjj is learning. He is obviously very committed. Youre getting on very well. What are the challenges you are facing . Are we allowed to know what you are doing . Yes, we are dancing the fox trot. Jj is very happy to be back in ballroom hold. Why . He is doing amazing. There are not really any challenges. 0ne there are not really any challenges. One thing, if because of his injury there is something he cannot do, he says, lets find our way of doing it. Sometimes he puts his right arm in my pocket because he cannot lead with that arm. Many clever choreographing. And amy figuring out where my strengths and weaknesses lie. My frame . Apparently, according to shelley, it is from years of the marines building posture. At the same time it is making me stronger. That work with the paper built my arm are my left hand and hopefully i will benefit from that. Cape work. We get the smiling and happy jj but there is a real grit and determination in there, isnt there . That is him, deep inside, isnt it . Absolutely. Pretend he is not there for a moment. Sometimes absolutely. Pretend he is not there fora moment. Sometimes i had absolutely. Pretend he is not there for a moment. Sometimes i had to tell them to get himself a pat on the back because he is so hard on himself. He tends to know stuff within three minutes. He is tough on himself he is not mastering it immediately. I tell him he himself he is not mastering it immediately. Itell him he is himself he is not mastering it immediately. I tell him he is doing really well. Monday, tuesday taking in the choreography and then we are working on technique wednesday, thursday. Jj can at week two wanted everything by them mentor because he said he felt like a rock star on saturday night, he wanted to keep taking up feeling pain. Talking about the marines at the level of excellence and perfection. I had to accept im outside my comfort zone. You are doing amazing. Jj came in with no dance experience stop he has embraced absolutely everything. He is truly is what strictly is all about. Amy can i do know what . You char me with that welsh melt, that lovely smile and your demeanour. Charm me. Jj is accustomed to taking orders and you must be enjoying giving orders and seeing him respond. Yes, i absolutely love it. I think respond. Yes, i absolutely love it. Ithinkl respond. Yes, i absolutely love it. I think i am a nice teacher. Yes, respond. Yes, i absolutely love it. I think am a nice teacher. Yes, a great teacher. I do not need much motivation. I have turned up with a work ethic and when you get an instructor like amy, if we can stain it long enough, we can really go to a brilliant place. Stay in it. The trick to make them are not that i ever learned it is to thoroughly enjoy it. Enjoy it and do your best. That is all you can do. Totally. This is an unbelievable experience. Everything except their results show. That is the polar opposite. Being in the studio is amazing. Learning new skills and spending time with someone as amazing as a dancer with the personality. Time with someone as amazing as a dancer with the personalitym time with someone as amazing as a dancer with the personality. It is a pleasure. This is where we give out the orders and it is time to stop. We wish you well for the weekend. Take care. Goodbye. Good morning, welcome to breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. 0ur headlines today asjoe biden tightens his grip on the white house donald trump makes more unsubstantiated claims of voting fraud. If you count the legal votes, i easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election. Joe biden appeals for calm and says democracy sometimes requires a little patience. We have no doubt that when the count is finished, senator harris and i will be declared the winners. So i ask everyone to stay calm. All the people to stay calm. With the help of 2,000 military personnel, liverpool becomes the first city in england to trial mass covid testing. And it is a little bit of a frosty and foggy start for many of you but sunny spells on the way later. I will have details. Later on on brea kfast. And restaurants may be closed, but the masterchef kitchen is about to open. Well speak to the shows judges about how the industry is coping. Its friday the sixth november. Our top story. President donald trump has insisted he has won the us president ial election even though votes are still being counted. In his first public address since the early hours of wednesday morning, mrtrump complained about voter fraud, without providing any evidence. We think theres going to be a lot of litigation, as we have so much evidence, so much proof, and its going to end up perhaps at the highest court in the land. We have no doubt, that when the count is finished, senator harris and i will be declared the winners. So i ask everyone to stay calm, all the people to stay calm. While there are still votes to count, ajoe biden presidency is not a certainty and his slim lead over donald trump in arizona narrowed during thursday. Donald trump does not want to be a one term president and hes willing to rubbish americas democratic reputation to try and hold on. But its the states in charge of counting the votes and that process continues methodically, no matter what mr trump says. Joe biden has said he will try to unite this divided country if he wins the election. If donald trump is on his way out of the white house, he hasnt made that task any easier. Ben wright, bbc news, washington. The remaining battlegrounds are arizona, georgia, nevada and North Carolina, and pennsylvania. Those counts are still going on as you probably know. And here are some live pictures from philadelphia, where its currently just after 3am. Because things are so tight it remains very, very important relative to the bigger picture. Ben wrightjoins us now from washington. So we arejust so we are just waiting, arent we . Just waiting, but for how long . We are, we are waiting for those votes to be counted and all eyes are on pennsylvania and georgia, as you said, because there is no route back to the white house for donald trump u nless to the white house for donald trump unless he wins those two states with a large number of Electoral College votes between them. If it cant get over the line in the electoral couege over the line in the Electoral College without winning georgia and pennsylvania and we have seen over the last few hours the leads he had in both states just crumble away as the postal votes have been counted. Two hours ago when we first started talking donald trump was leading in georgia by 1800 votes and a few minutes ago that stood at 665. There are more results being posted on the website now. Its very likely that joe biden will overtake donald trump at some point fairly shortly in georgia. Thats not the end of the contest, of course, because donald trump could come back. There are votes to be counted from across the state but that would be a big moment. Pennsylvania is hugely important to this story in what happens next. Donald trumps lead is 22,000 with 95 96 of the happens next. Donald trumps lead is 22,000 with 95 96 of the ballots cast counted, but we think there are more than 100,000 votes still to be tallied and we know lots of those come from Philadelphia County which isa come from Philadelphia County which is a very democratic leaning area. These are all the reasons why the biden campaign, as america wakes up ina biden campaign, as america wakes up in a couple of hours, will be feeling very confident about how this is looking. Ben wright, thanks very much. The uks first Mass Testing Programme will launch in liverpool city today. Hundreds of thousands of People Living or working there will be able to access repeat coronavirus tests whether theyre showing symptoms or not. If successful, the government say pilots could be rolled out to millions by christmas. So, what we know is that even as we get the announcement of the extension of the furlough until march, which will be a relief to a lot of people, the restrictions have kicked in and that too is presenting extra pressures for people. Yes, i think thats absolutely right, charlie. In some ways extending the furlough scheme until the end of march gives everybody worried about theirjob a bit of space. They know that they can always stay on furlough, and if they were laid off in october, they can actually even go back on to furlough. But the fact its been extended for so long has caused some nervousness and lead to that question, if it is going to go on until the end of march, does that mean we could potentially end up with some form of lockdown until the end of march. Borisjohnson has been really keen, really keen at the press co nfe re nce really keen, really keen at the press conference last night to say no, these measures in place across england now definitely run out on the 2nd of december. But it is worth remembering the government wants to go back to that tiered approach and in the top tier, tier 3, one that many people in the north of england will be familiar with, many hospitality venues are shut, so in that circumstance you would need potentially the furlough scheme even if you are not in full lockdown. So the government is adamant it ends on the government is adamant it ends on the 2nd of december. There are other questions about the scheme as well. Really interesting hearing the business minister Nadhim Zahawi talking to naga half an hour ago on brea kfast talking to naga half an hour ago on breakfast about some of the self employed people who are not getting any support at the moment. There has been some criticism that the government has not tweaked the system to try and offer more targeted support and make sure that folk who were falling through the cracks get some more support that they have over the last few months. But that hasnt happened. Just worth briefly pointing out as well the government didnt want to be here, they were trying to get rid of this scheme, they helped the Health Situation and Economic Situation would be better by now and they have faced some criticism that they didnt do this sooner. Thank you very much. Students at the university of manchester have torn down security barriers that were put up around their accommodation. The fencing was intended to limit socialising between different households on the campus, but were put up before any of the residents were informed. The university has since apologised and said the barriers will be removed today. It is 8 10am. Lets have a look at the friday weather, saturday weather, sunday weather, what is the picture . Getting cloudy and getting milder, but lovely start to the day, this is hampshire, some weather watchers phenomena. Fog will form widely across parts of Eastern England where the yellow is marked, this is where the yellow is marked, this is where the yellow is marked, this is where the fog is most dense, also in the south west of england and bristol channel. But it will clear in the morning, lingering longest in north east england, southern scotla nd north east england, southern scotland mind a bit of cloud will linger but scotland and Northern Ireland having a brighter day than yesterday, cloudy thick enough across parts of the Western Isles for some patchy rain or drizzle later, but most will be dry. Bit of a breeze blowing here and in the south west as we go into the afternoon but light, gentle winds from a south, south easterly direction. The cold air in the south yesterday pushes north so not as warm across eastern scotland and north east england as yesterday. Durham got to 18 degrees, ten or 11 today probably. Tonight the northern half of the countries where we will see the coldest conditions, some mist and fog developing widely in east wales, the midlands, southern england and north east of england and central belt of scotland. That will take awhile to shift, for some it will linger in the south on saturday. The northern half of the country seeing sunny spells. But all of us will turn cloudy and mild to this weekend. I will have a full update in about an hour. You said it would be cloudier and milder and you are right. Thanks for sticking to your word it is 8am. 8 12am. We heard yesterday the furlough scheme will be extended till the end of march, and will continue to cover the wages of workers who are unable to do theirjob because of coronavirus restrictions. The chancellor rishi sunak has also extended help for the self employed. Our business correspondent, Katie Prescott has been taking a closer look at whats been announced. At the start of the first lockdown, the word furlough suddenly became very familiar. The aim of the scheme was simple, a grant to pay 80 of the wages of those who could not work because of coronavirus restrictions. Since its start, over 9 Million People have been supported by it. But as restrictions eased, the scheme was being wound down, due to end on 31st october. In response, the government says, anyone made redundant after 23rd september can be rehired and put back on furlough. At a cost of more than £50 billion so far, its hugely expensive but the government feels it is better than the human cost of mass unemployment. Katie prescott, bbc news. A lot of people have lots of questions about how this will pan out in terms of your life, the way you make a living. We are going to put some of those questions to two experts. Finance analyst sarah coles, and finance journalist felicity hannah. They join us now. Good morning to both of you. We welcome your expertise in advance. The first question is for felicity, from a person saying they were made redundant in september. The dates are crucial in this. Made redundant in september and now self employed. What support can i get . There has been helped, a grant up get . There has been helped, a grant up to three months capped at 80 of your trading profits. Its not open to those who are newly self employed. If you have onlyjust taken the self employed. If you have onlyjust ta ken the leap self employed. If you have onlyjust taken the leap and become self employed, you dont qualify for that support. 0ne self employed, you dont qualify for that support. One possible option, i dont know what date in september you were made redundant, but if you we re you were made redundant, but if you were on your former employers books on the 23rd of september, you can see if they can rehire you and then thurlow you, as long as you wear on their books on the 23rd and you are made redundant after that. If that is not possible, then it is worth going online looking at what benefits are open to you and if you can make use of the schemes out there, mortgage repayment holidays, which have been extended to cover this next period of lockdown. I will get you to pick up on that, because we we re get you to pick up on that, because we were talking about this with the business minister because there is a group of people who do not have access to that. They have to look at other grants available and hope there is something out there for them . Could there is something out there for them . Could you there is something out there for them . Could you start again, because we lost the connection. Them . Could you start again, because we lost the connectionlj them . Could you start again, because we lost the connection. I would say the help has been a huge help for a lot of people and the fact the deadline for asking for their help has been moved back until the end of january and it will make a big difference. But we havent been given any extra holidays. If you have ta ken the given any extra holidays. If you have taken the full six months, you wont get any other help. But if you have ta ken wont get any other help. But if you have taken three months or you havent had any other help, and other debt, credit cards and loans, you can still apply for the help until the end of january. You can still apply for the help until the end ofjanuary. This is an interesting question, what financial help is there if i get the virus . It isa help is there if i get the virus . It is a fundamental question and as more people are being tested, it becomes more relevant. If i get the virus, what help can i get . It was one of the very first things announced at the beginning of the crisis, statutory sick pay, normally you have to wait four days before we have to apply but it is available from day one. And statutory sick pay is £96 a week and you should be able to apply for that if your employer pays more than that then you should be able to get full sick pay from your employer. The test and trace syste m your employer. The test and trace system tells you to self isolate, then you may be able to get a £500 grant from your local authority if you are on specific benefits. There are quite a lot of things to do to qualify for that but it is worth checking. Can a person working for an checking. Can a person working for checking. Can a person working for an agency be fellow . Absolutely, anybody employed on a paye basis. It is up to an employer, this is a scheme for employees. Workers dont have any automatic right to be furloughed instead of liquor. If youre wondering if you are going to be part of the scheme, it is important to have that conversation with your employer as soon as you can. We are trying to go through some of the questions. Some of the questions to blend, one into another for obvious reasons. Felicity, we had an employee on flex he thurlow who left in august. This is from an employers point of view. We would have kept him if we knew this was coming, can we rehire him and offer thurlow for the next three months . am afraid, as with the first lockdown, the dates are important. In your situation, you cannot rehire them and thurlow them. The cut off date, the employee needs to have been on your books on the 23rd of september so the option is not open to you. What about this one . We are worried about paying debts, we have done that one for mortgage holidays. Felicity, i have an employee. That is the one we have just done. Felicity, employers, what do they need to contribute to the thurlow scheme . That is a practical one . This scheme is more generous thanit one . This scheme is more generous than it has been in the last couple of months when it was supposedly winding down. With the government contributing 80 of the salary of any workers, any hours they are not working, capped at £2500 a month. Employers will pay for any hours the workers to put in and they will have to Pay National Insurance contributions and pension contributions. If the employer wants to, they can top up the salary up to 100 , but that is at their own discretion. Can the selfemployed claim for extra heating costs whilst working from home . Selfemployed people have always been able to claim the costs of running their home office. You can calculate exactly what you are spending on bills and work out what part of that was for your home office. Or you can claim a flat rate which is available to anybody who works at least 25 hours a month self employed from home. You can claim up to £26 a week, sorry up to £26 a month using the flat rate. You dont have to go into the complicated details, there isa into the complicated details, there is a flat rate and it is slightly more generous to the rate for employed people who get £6 a week from their employer towards these cuts. Thank you for helping us to go through some of this which is quite complicated. Thank you to the people who got in touch with those questions. We will try and get to as many of those issues as we can. We mentioned testing and whether or not people would be paid if they were found positive. Hundreds of soldiers have been deployed to liverpool city to help deliver a mass coronavirus testing programme. Everyone who lives or works in the city will be encouraged to get tested even if they do not have symptoms. Our reporter danjohnson is at one of the Testing Centres in liverpool for us this morning. Your Testing Centre opens at 12, but there are others that have opened earlier. What kind of test are on offer and what will be the impact of this . Good morning. We havejust seen a coachload of soldiers arrive here starting to set things up. This is where the two types of test will be offered. This is the Leisure Centre car park which will be set up later this morning for drive through tests. That is the swab test people will have seen happening across the country already. The test that gives you a result within 24 hours, or they are hoping here it will be the same day. In the tennis centre, this isa same day. In the tennis centre, this is a walk in centre where people can get a rapid result test which should give a result within 20 minutes or half an hour. That is available to everybody across the city, regardless of their age, occupation and regardless of whether they have symptoms or not. They hope it will help in identifying who carries the virus so they can isolate the right people in the hope of bringing the numbers down. I spoke to people to see what they thought about the scheme here. Im not saying i wouldnt get it done. Obviously id like to know a bit more about it, but if it helps us get back to a normal life then im happy for anything like that really. Ijust think its quite pointless. Because you can invalidate the test like ten minutes later. You know, depending on where you go and who you come in contact with. So i dont really see what the point is. I think that we should go ahead with the testing because i think that itd help everybody else to see if we can do the rapid tests, you know, to see if it works, to do the test, see if we can get quick results back. Im100 supportive, if i know where it is ill go and get tested now, you know. I think its good, why not . People complained before theres not enough tests or testing, well, theres tests now. So if you want to exercise your option to do it, why not . This is a major pilot scheme for liverpool, being trialled here for the first time across the city. It isa the first time across the city. It is a major effort for the british army that are involved in the logistics of this. With me is the brigadier in charge of the operation. Thank you for your time. What is the challenge you have got setting this up and making it happen across the city . We have got 2000 soldiers predominantly involved in this from 17 units across the army coming from 20 home locations and we are looking at setting up these repeat testing sites. It is a big challenge, it is a big challenge and we working really closely with Liverpool City Council authorities to make this happen. What is the key to make this happen. What is the key to getting this right, getting everything in place to make it quick enough and effective . The key is all about the logistics of all of this and synchronising those in time so that weve got the sites open and we are really hard with the City Council Team mates so the are really hard with the City Council Team mates so the nhs is connected to the Communications Plan and the message gets out to the people of liverpool so they know which sites are ready and when they are open. You have been involved in Testing Centres across the country already this year, how will you are doing be different from what they have seen already . In wave one it was about the mobile testing units and the swabs you have mentioned. This time it is different, it is all about the rapid repeat testing. It isa about the rapid repeat testing. It is a new kit, new system. For those people who might be sat at home thinking they are ok and their symptoms, actually, you dont know if you have actually got the virus. This is a great way of coming down and proving if you have or if you havent. It is really easy. All of my soldiers have taken that test, i have done it. So we know they are safe . Have done it. So we know they are safe . Thats right. This is the difference, it is the repeat Rapid Testing we are putting in place. We appreciate your time, we will let you get on with the important work. Lots of people in uniform are about, that michaels concern for people and there are questions about whether these test will be effective or efficient, but this is the way to try to get the numbers down in the city and through this technique is affected. One of the things being tried this money is this clear mask. Iam only tried this money is this clear mask. I am only using it so it might help any viewers that require lip reading. Also, we can hear you and see your mouth moving, so it works on both counts. Thanks very much. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning from bbc london, im tolu adeoye. More than 100 people have been arrested at anti lockdown protests in central london. Officers urged demonstrators to go home as they took to the streets near trafalgar square. The met said the majority of arrests were for breaches of coronavirus regulations. A bursary has been set up in the memory of a talented athlete who was murdered on his way to a football match. Tashan daniels was stabbed at hillingdon tube station last september. He had dreamed of competing at the olympics. Young People Living in hillingdon will be able to apply for £2,000 grants to go towards their ambitions across sport, culture and education. Today the military wives are releasing a special version of the hymn sung at the funeral of the unknown warrior in Westminster Abbey 100 years ago. Due to covid restrictions, abide with me was recorded with 70 separate vocal parts by members of the choir from across the uk. Fast falls the eventide the darkness deepens lord with me abide. Lets take a look at the travel situation now. All good on the tubes lines. On the roads one lane is closed westbound on the a2 approaching danson interchange for emergency repairs long delays back to m25. It is a southeasterly, so that will lift the fog a little quicker. It could linger in parts of west london and beyond, but, elsewhere, plenty of sunshine. Temperatures today getting up to 13 celsius. Overnight tonight, it is going to start off clear, but, again, we are going to see some mist and fog patches developing. Plenty more on our website, facebook and instgram. The next occupant of the white house comes down to counts in five critical states. Lets take a look at how things stand right now. Arizona, georgia, nevada and North Carolina are still yet to declare along with pennsylvania. Joe biden currently has 253 votes, to Donald Trumps 214. A win in pennsylvania would take biden to the magic number of 270. Both mr biden and President Trump made speeches last night. Mr trump repeated his accusations of fraud, while biden called for voters to remain patient. If you count the legal votes, i easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us. If you count the votes that came in late, well look into them very strongly, but a lot of votes came in late. We have no doubt that when the count is finished, senator harris and i will be declared the winners. So i ask everyone to stay calm, all people to stay calm. The process is working. The count is being completed. And well know very soon. Those are the two candidates are speaking in the early hours of this morning. Were joined now by sir peter westmacott, who served as the uk ambassador to the us between 2012 and 2016. The reason that is relevant is that is when mr biden was Vice President. Very good morning to you, sir peter. What kind of advice can you give us from the time you spent Withjoe Biden . I would make one word of caution, we shouldnt get too far ahead of ourselves. It looks to me as though with the remaining four important states that have yet to be counted that he will win but he is not there yet. Democrats are pretty confident that if nothing else works out, at least pennsylvania, which will probably be the last state to be counted, gets them uncomfortably over the line but they are not there yet. But to your question, i was lucky enough to live in washington in the very grand house that is the british ambassadors residents next door to where the Vice President was, sojoe door to where the Vice President was, so joe biden, door to where the Vice President was, sojoe biden, the Vice President , was our next door neighbour. Not that he came around knocking on the door with an empty cup asking if we had any sugar in the larder but we saw a bit of him and he came to our place and i went to his place and i would sometimes have meetings with him in the white house and so on, and so he is somebody that i at the time and members of the British Government got to know very well. He is not known to borisjohnson and dominic raab but he is known to those of us who around during the 0bama biden administration. I would say that he is very congenial, he loves people, he is very friendly, he is empathetic, hes had a really tough life, terrible losses in his own family, as you know. He is a man who is very proud of his irish roots but also very proud of his british roots, which are probably slightly less important to him but he knows a lot about the united kingdom, he has been around the block, been in International Affairs for the last 40 yea rs International Affairs for the last 40 years or so, and he knows a lot of people and i think he would be a very serious president if he is the one who wins and somebody with whom i hope we can do serious business. Your words of caution at the beginning are well said because we wouldnt want people tuning in to us this morning thinking something had been decided because it absolutely has not and we await the tight polls, which is a point very well made. But nonetheless, people are thinking to themselves as it affects us in the uk. I wonder if you could compare and contrast. Present trump going forward, were that to be the case, as compared with a president biden. President trump. Apart from some of the obvious personality traits, in terms of the politics, word of the differences life . President trump for more years will be four more years of the same, thats all hes ever said, there is no manifesto, no promises of doing anything differently, is about me, he says, like the election is about him. Either i win or it is a fraud. And so forfour him. Either i win or it is a fraud. And so for four more years it would be just the and so for four more years it would bejust the big of donald trump. The Prime Minister and donald trump as it happens get on pretty well so in terms of the personal chemistry my guess is that would be quite co mforta ble guess is that would be quite comfortable and he would carry on saying he thinks brexit is marvellous. He may carry on saying that a Free Trade Agreement between Great Britain and america is available because it isnt because it would be a tough negotiation and may not make much difference to our trade and investment america anyway. More worryingly, i think there will be more and more talk of america leaving nato which is not good for britain and western security. There will be more unilateralism, more tariff wars, which is not good for free trade and not good for Consumer Prices and he doesnt believe in climate change, which is a high priority of the British Government and most other western democracies, and most other western democracies, and he is not keen on the european union, doesnt care about International Institutions like the world trade organisation, the united nations, the who and so on so it will carry on being a sort of bumpy ride but probably with the personal chemistry 0k, and continuing to give Vladimir Putin more or less a pass on bad behaviourfrom russia and address in china in a rather unilateral way. If it is biden, i think you will have somebody who will go back to a more traditional way of working with allies, seeking a consensus, trying to understand whether other people where other people are coming from, restoring some of the bits of diplomacy that donald trump has destroyed, if you like, like the iran nuclear deal, which 0bama and biden and indeed the British Government at the time were very pleased with than we thought was a good way of stopping iran getting nuclear weapons. Possibly looking in again at the whole israel palestine story and looking at the bits of controversial politics in the middle east. It will not be the same old story as it was in 0bamas time because president biden, should he win, knows he must address a lot of the concerns that make 5060,000,000 of the concerns that make 50 60,000,000 americans wants a vote for donald trump and thats about people feeling left behind and the Global Economy damaging their interests, their voices not being heard and so on. So it will not be the same, but in terms of dealing with allies and things i think we would find it more comfortable with biden, even though he is someone who doesnt believe in brexit and is deeply worried that some of our brexit negotiations could do some damage to the good friday agreement in Northern Ireland. Could i ask you to reflect for a moment, whichever way it goes, but as the momentum, the phrase people are using at the moment is towardsjoe biden, what about this period in the next few months and over time about how you draw the nation back together . It is a country you know well. It is a great question because during the 76 days between now and the change in regime, if you like, the inauguration in january, there regime, if you like, the inauguration injanuary, there is a lot of things the president can do evenif lot of things the president can do even if he has been voted out of office. They could start issuing pardons for criminal acts to himself possibly, to members of his family, to his friends, he can sign a lot of executive orders, which of course the next president can and do. He has now effectively taken america out of the paris agreements on climate change, although biden has said that he would immediately put america back there. And of course there can be a great deal of legal challenge. If this election turns out to be very tight, if it comes down to just pennsylvania for example, by a small margin, we will see all sorts of complaints from trump trying to go to the Supreme Court, although you cantjust go to the Supreme Court and say im not happy, make me feel happier, you must go through due legal process. But this could go on for a while if there is not a clear result. And evenif there is not a clear result. And even if there is i dont see President Trump conceding and i think there could be a lot of sand being thrown up to try and avoid a clear cut a nswer being thrown up to try and avoid a clear cut answer with him losing. So for the next few weeks it could be messy. And thereafter i think a top priority for a president biden, if it is him, and i think its more likely to be him, will be to try and bring the country back together so you havent got people driving around with machine guns and waving their flags, around with machine guns and waving theirflags, and around with machine guns and waving their flags, and driving around with machine guns and waving theirflags, and driving cars off theirflags, and driving cars off the road of people who want to vote for the other person. He is a very inclusive kind of politician. He likes people and he likes to bring people together. He doesnt believe in this polarisation that we have seenin in this polarisation that we have seen in american politics for the last few years. Really interesting hearing your thoughts this morning. Thank you so much, former uk ambassador to the us, sir peter westmacott, who spent a lot of time with joe westmacott, who spent a lot of time Withjoe Biden westmacott, who spent a lot of time with joe biden during westmacott, who spent a lot of time Withjoe Biden during that period when he was in america Whenjoe Biden was the Vice President. 8 41am is the time. Many Remembrance Day services may have been cancelled this year but the Royal British legion is calling on the public to come together in other ways to honour those who have served in our armed forces. For the first time in poppy appeal history, there wont be any collections on the streets and people will be observing the two minute silence from their doorstep. That was the end of my sojourn in arnhem. Were joined now by the Royal British legions director of fundraising, claire rowcliffe. Lovely to have you with us this morning. There will be a lot of challenges facing this and lots of other charities as well and good causes . Yes, absolutely. It is a very difficult time for everybody and the poppy appeal this year is no exception to that. This is the first pppy exception to that. This is the first poppy appeal we havent got our wonderful collectors out on the streets in england and wales. It is devastating for them and very impactfulfor us. Devastating for them and very impactful for us. What impact will that have on fundraising . Have you had a chance to even think about the numbers . I am thinking of nothing else. It could run into millions. The poppy appeal normally generates between 45 £50 million a year and thatis between 45 £50 million a year and that is through our wonderful volu nteers that is through our wonderful volunteers on the streets. We just dont have that now so we are urging people to go online and donate and we can maintain the income from the pppy we can maintain the income from the poppy appeal. Now the money cannot be raised on the streets and you are urging people to donate, what other events or virtual events, who have you got on board to help in the absence of the traditional ways of fundraising . We have had great support, great publicity from the likes of your selves, great support from supermarket partners. Supermarkets still have poppies, although lockdown in england again you can go to the supermarket and get your paper poppies from there. Going online and donating, fundraising packs where you can donate it may be fun ways. There are a number of ways, if you go on our website, it is quite easy to find the different ways you can support is our supermarkets have been such strong partners and they have had collections there. You have had some celebrities on board as well . We a lwa ys celebrities on board as well . We always have great celebrity support. This year has been no exception. Through a partnership through the sun newspaper, they have been able to get other celebrities, david beckham, ross kemp, stephen fry. It is so important that the nation as a whole gets behind the Royal British legion poppy appealfor the fundraising element, but equally because of remembrance. I think this year, more than ever they have shown great support to the nation, celebrities and big organisations have supported for the poppy appeal and remembrance. Lovely to talk to you this morning, good luck. My sources tell me, if you look out of the round window, but you know what im talking about. It is absolutely beautiful . It is for some. But it is a cold start across england and wales. Cold at the moment in south 0xfordshire, still minus three. Bit of frost even as far north in aberdeenshire this morning. Others have started the day with thick fog, struggling to find the landscape in the borders at the moment. The thickest of the folk showing up in this area here, this is where it is most widespread, north east england and down into east midlands. It will largely shift as we go through the morning into the afternoon. Lasting longest across the northeast and southern parts of scotland. Cloud coming and going across scotland but overall and across Northern Ireland, more sunshine around compared with yesterday. The cloud could produce a few spots of rain in the Western Isles but most will be dry. Windy towards the far south west of england and the channel islands. But most have a gentle breeze coming from a south and south easterly direction, it is drifting further north so that means eastern scotland and Eastern England, nowhere near as warm as yesterday. 18 degrees yesterday in durham. Today, probably ten or 11. Cold are in place further north tomorrow in dense fog patches across parts of the midlands and southern england. It is the northern half of the country where we will see temperatures dropping the feathers. From the midlands northwards we will see the risk of frost around and north east scotland will eventually clear but it will only just lifting to low will eventually clear but it will onlyjust lifting to low cloud across the midlands and southern england. Making for a grey day compared with the sunshine of today. Sunniest of all, northern england, scotla nd sunniest of all, northern england, scotland and Northern Ireland but here, cooler still with one or two spots staying in single figures and turning mild across the south as we pick up more of a southerly wind. That will continue to develop into sunday. Low pressure in the bay of biscay throwing some weather fronts our way. What that means for sunday, not as much fog around to begin with but more cloud. There will be breaks in the cloud and sunny spells here and there but it will be thick enough and splashes of drizzle working northwards across the western side of the country. But far from a wash out, many people still stay largely dry, not completely dry but temperatures on the up. By sunday, 16 degrees in the south east corner. Over this weekend, turning cloudy but also turning mild and most will stay dry after a chilly and foggy start this morning. Quick question, saying earlier and i am sure many parents are very envious that your children eat everything you put on the table for them. They eat most things. That is what you said. The eat most things. I imagine you are a very good cook . I am all right. What is your signature dish . My right. What is your signature dish . My sunday roast. What is the secret . Love and care. They have these a nswe rs love and care. They have these answers so they know if they get anything tricky, they always come out on top. You just kind of bat them away. I dont know what you are talking about. Crafty. We are going to talk more about food now. Many restaurants may have closed their doors but food lovers will still be able to watch top chefs work their magic on bbc one next week. Masterchef the professionals is back and will see talented cooks try to impress michelin starred chef Marcus Wareing and monica galetti. Well speak to them in a minute, but first lets take a look at what we can expect from the first episode. Welcome back. Its the start of a brand new competition. Its going to be a little bit different, i know, under the circumstances. So good to see you two again. I think this way therell be less trouble in the kitchen. I cant wait to get going. Weve had some fantastic chefs come through this kitchen and im excited. Were kicking off the competition as we always do, with the skills test. Weve got four chefs waiting. Two of them will be doing your skills test, marcus. Two of them, monica, will be doing yours. Monica, what are you going to get the chefs to do . Our chefs are going to be making mushroom duxelle filled tortellinis, served with a sauce of their choice, using whats on the table here. What we are looking for here is pasta making skills, the duxelle, their chopping skills, cleaning of mushrooms and i think tortellini is of the most common shapes they would make in a kitchen. How long are you going to give them . 25 minutes. Right, id like to see how this is done. We would all like to see how it is done, i think. And we can now talk to judges Marcus Wareing and monica galetti. How are you. Morning. Good morning, nice to be at home. Marcus, we were talking about strictly a few minutes ago with a couple of the guests, there is something, people need a bit of comfort at the moment. The programme they love anyway, but there is something about this time, looking at food, talking about food, seeing a bit of competition, it is a good time to start the series . This is going to be a great escape for our viewers because we filled it just after lockdown when people are going back to work slowly. But there is no audience, we are always reminded now, television when you watch sport or strictly and certain shows, even graham norton, there is no one there in the studio. But with masterchef it is not like that. It is about the contestants, the judges and great food. So every night for and great food. So every night for an hour you will escape and see some normality. The challenge is making a tv show with social distancing, especially with greg in the studio is quite challenging, but we had a great time and some great food you will get to see. What do you mean, especially with greg in a studio . We dont need to stand next to him while hes eating. We dont need to share a plate of food. We can hear him, but we dont have to be next to him, but we dont have to be next to him while hes eating. I am only joking. I am sure he will take that very much to heart. Monica, you say you are enjoying being at home, what is lockdown two going to look like for you, so what everybody wants to know is whether you guys with all of your culinary expertise will be whipping upa your culinary expertise will be whipping up a storm or doing beans on toast, as many others will be resorting to when we have just had enough . It isjust one of those, this time it is only four weeks, hopefully. My family, when i am home start asking what is for lunch once we have just had breakfast. They have just had lunch and then they start asking what is for dinner. The dinner its dishwasher is going to be on continuous. So many people can relate to. I am assuming you have had breakfast, what is for lunch, monica . My husband and daughter are still in bed, which is really odd. My daughter is not back to school until next week. My husband isjust to school until next week. My husband is just enjoying to school until next week. My husband isjust enjoying the sleeping. It is quite odd, i am sitting on my own, even the dogs are still asleep. I am sitting on my own, even the dogs are still asleep. Lam normally sitting on my own, even the dogs are still asleep. I am normally busy somewhere. I might have to wake everyone up. I am very mindful, marcus, as much as everyone will love watching the programme, there is the indulgent thing, and without wishing to change the tone, your profession, the restaurant profession, the restaurant profession, those in hospitality, those who work on it or own or run restau ra nts, those who work on it or own or run restaurants, it is a really hard time for you, the people who work in that area . Yes, it is. The second lockdown, the difference through the last few weeks have been very difficult to work around, whether it is the curfew or houses not being able to mix, but the second lockdown is quite big. It may only be four weeks, but for some people november, october, november, december is the biggest months, where we make our money in a way. It will have a huge impact on people. But what we are hearing from the Prime Minister at the moment is we will be going back to work in december. Yes, we have four weeks of lockdown, but we also must keep a positive spin on things. People are suffering out there at the moment, but we will be back and we will be strong. Within the Hospitality Industry and certain sectors, they are doing a greatjob at keeping people safe and restau ra nts at keeping people safe and restaurants have done very well. It is tough times for everybody, but as we always say, we do want our customers to stay with us, come and see us when we eventually open. We will follow the guidelines and put the rules into place. But we want to welcome our customers with open arms and serve some great food and wine and serve some great food and wine and follow the rules. The key is to follow the rules, but we can only do that when we are open. Monica, your restau ra nt that when we are open. Monica, your restaurant has been shut down because of the lockdown, but there isa because of the lockdown, but there is a bigger team even behind the restau ra nt, is a bigger team even behind the restaurant, even behind the weight is chefs and all of those who are in the restaurant, it is those supply the restaurant, it is those supply the the food as well . Absolutely, it is notjust the restaurant the the food as well . Absolutely, it is not just the restaurant teams we employ, it goes down to the suppliers, drivers for the suppliers, drivers for the suppliers, they have got to stop work, even to the rubbish people that clear the rubbish. All of that has come to a standstill, cleaners, window cleaners, you know it is a huge cycle. It is what it is for now, everyone has had to pause and sacrifice something for the good of the nation and hopefully it is going to have the effect we need to slow down this pandemic. Then get back to normal, because i think everybody is getting frustrated with the whole situation and just not seeing an end in sight. We have just got to try and get through it again. That is going to be the joy of masterchef with some brilliant meals and inspiration for lockdown and recipes. Marcus and monica, good luck and thank you for bringing us somejoy with luck and thank you for bringing us some joy with masterchef. Masterchef is on tuesday at 9pm. Youre watching bbc breakfast. Its 8. 59. This is bbc news with the latest headlines. Still no result in the us president ial election as Democratjoe Biden edges closer to the white house. Donald trump makes more unsubstantiated claims of voting fraud. If you count the legal votes, i easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us. Joe biden calls for calm and patience he says he has no doubt he will be declared the winner. Each ballot must be counted. We have no doubt that when the count is finished senator harris and i will be declared the winners. The counting continues, this is the scene live in pennsylvania meanwhile in georgia its down
