the Scottish Government has announced a two week quarantine rule for people arriving home from greece. The restrictions will come into force tomorrow morning. It comes as travellers arriving back into wales from the greek island of zante are told to self isolate for fourteen days after a rise in coronavirus cases there. The measures raise fresh questions over the future of holidays abroad. Greg mckenzie reports. Last week at least 16 people tested positive for covid i9 after arriving back to cardiff from the greek island of za nte. Back to cardiff from the greek island of zante. Some on that tui flight island of zante. Some on that tui flight including staff had been accused of not adhering to safety precautions. Customers know that they should be Wearing Masks on board. It is the responsibility to do so. Our crew train and enforce that but it is a difficult thing to enforce, particularly in an aircraft way you are not in the cabin as much as he used to be before. It has led
to the travel firm tui to stop offering holidays to the resort of luganos on zante. The Health Minister says there are currently six compasses of cases amounting to 13 new infections linked to flights from greece. But he claims they have related not only in wales but also in scotland and england too. Last night the Scottish Government imposed a 1k day quarantine restriction for anyone returning to scotla nd restriction for anyone returning to scotland from greece as of tomorrow morning. It is spreading again particularly in these three areas. And we believe that in these areas it is spreading primarily as a result of household gatherings. Ministers say the move comes due to a significant rise in covid 19 cases
being brought into scotland from people who have been to greece. The uk government is now facing mounting pressure from the welsh Health Minister to reimpose quarantine rules for greece but the department for transport says no changes to its rules have been made. It is understood the uk government is considering putting portugal on the quarantine list for all four nations. That is england, scotland, wales, Northern Ireland, after cases this week went over 20 per 100,000 people, which is the markerfor introducing quarantine measures. Were joined now by our Political Correspondent iain watson. Just watching out this morning, you know, there are these differing rules. Is there a sense that england may have to change its rules as well . About greece specifically. They will be looking at the latest advice today. They have been pressure from there was government to have that meeting. What there was government are doing it simply saying to people coming back from the island of zante that they should quarantine for 1h days. But they are also doing Something Else, which i think is interesting, which is offering tests for the virus, then further tests after eight days. There seem quarantine for 1h days of the moment. There has been a lot of speculation about ways to reduce the length of time people spending quarantine, and perhaps if they get to tests, as other countries do, then perhaps further down the ladder quarantine regime might be loosened a little. But it is also going the other direction, with scotland imposing quarantine on greece. They say theyre worried the greek islands, the whole country, from tomorrow morning. You will have to quarantine for 1h days. And there is speculation that logical, recently taken off the quarantine list, make it back on it, because infections
there have now gone beyond this crucialfigure of 20 there have now gone beyond this crucial figure of 20 per there have now gone beyond this crucialfigure of 20 per 100,000. But other things are considered as well, including the speed at which infections go up, the trajectory of infections, and it is possible that two more countries uk wide could be added to the quarantine list by the end of the week. If they are travelling, people should watch the news carefully. New restrictions are being imposed in glasgow as well . That is right. It is the uks Third Largest city and they will face new restrictions as of this morning. The reason for that is that in glasgow the number of infections has now reached 22 per 100 100,000. It is responsible for nearly half the new cases in scotland. Schools and businesses will remain open but people are no longer expected to meet other households inside their own home. You can still meet outside but not inside. They will affect notjust
glasgow but neighbouring areas. Thank you. From today, more than a Million People in parts of Greater Manchester, lancashire and West Yorkshire will have some lockdown restrictions eased despite opposition from some councils. Members of two households will be able to meet again in their own homes and gardens, but councillors have criticised the government, accusing them of ignoring advice from Health Officials and lifting the measures too soon. Students have staggered breaks, stagnant lunch, in terms of cleaning as well, we had to get extra cleaners into the building in the course of the day. But one thing we know for sure is the longer they stay out of the classroom, without working with students, the more disadvantages they begun. Become. Does that mean everything will run smoothly . No. We will have some forms and challenges here and there, but we will work through that and the bottom line will be ensure that stu d e nts bottom line will be ensure that students and staff are safe. You
have all been given advises that you need to put those on when you are supporting. There are plans for dealing with cases and responding to outbreaks. But none of this has been tested. The bubble gives you together and save but as soon as the children go out of school and can meet whoever they want, with that it is flawed. I think it is as safe as it can be. I think it is probably safer than the local supermarket. The other priority is working out how much learning is being lost helping every child catch up. 1a people are going on trial in paris today over the attack on the satirical weekly magazine charlie hebdo. Good morning. Were getting used to empty schools, but that wont be for long . No, absolutely. A big day for everyone , long . No, absolutely. A big day for everyone, not just long . No, absolutely. A big day for everyone, notjust the long . No, absolutely. A big day for everyone, not just the year 7s, long . No, absolutely. A big day for everyone, notjust the year 7s, and this is a big school. About 1500
kids will arrive and they will have to come from different entrances to the school. This is key, keeping you groups apart, different bubbles. Coming through this entrance you can see that had a big part of everyone arriving in school. But the key thing is to keep the year groups, and here they will be 300 kids, in separate parts of the school. There will be corridors allocated to different you groups. You can see markings to keep people apart. The word is to keep on the left so they are passing without coming into too much contact. There will be staggered start times for breaks and lunches to stop mixing. If you come into the classroom, you can see how the furniture has been rearranged. These would normally be in groups of four with kids facing each other. Now it is more a case of rose sitting alongside each other. And you can see more hands sanitiser they are on the way in for every kid to disinfect everything. Lets have a chat with the principal here at
0utlet academy. You been preparing . A lot of hard work from staff, you know, within the school, trying to make sure that we have put everything in place that we could to keep staff and students say. A lot of work has gone on in the background but we are excited that it has all come together and we are ready to welcome students back in today. You are excited. Are you nervous . No, i think it is today. You are excited. Are you nervous . No, ithink it is about time that the students get back into building. We have missed them and they miss us. We cannot afford for them to be out of school. Were looking forward to welcoming them this morning. How strange will it be . How different do school life . Lot of difference for the older students, but for those in year 7 they will not know any different because this will be the first time in the school. The new normal will be their normal so i dont think that they will know anything different from, you know, what was before. Talk to me about the risk of further disruption. If there are outbreaks in the area or cases in
the school . We have a plan in place. The plan we have in place means that we have managed to get in touch with parents to find out more, what technology they have at home, so that anything arises, we believe we will be able to deliver that and a quality education to all our students. Talk about catching up on everything that has been lost. It is huge challenge, isnt it . Making sure students get back to the right level. Right from your seven all the way through. That Transition Programme we had did not even take place. That was all disrupted. So in terms of, we did a lot of remote transition, but, however, we believe that we have the plans in place, not just for the academic side of things, but also for the emotional side of things. Because we know the families and students have been through some difficult times and it is important that we get them back into the right frame of mind before we think about anything academic. Absolutely. We wish you the best today. As huge day for millions of kids, some of them returning to
