The check in desk is abandoned. Let me show you the board to give you a sense of how important flybe was. Even though the company went into administration, all of the flights are still on the board which gives you an idea of how important the airline was for this airport. 90 of the flights at the southampton airport operated by flybe, 80 in exeter, and if you think about places like newquay, there is a direct rail service between newquay and london for most of the year. Even if it does, the train takes five hour, but the flybe flight train takes five hour, but the flybe flight took just an hour. Train takes five hour, but the flybe flight tookjust an hour. Almost 100 allies of the home secretary, priti patel, have written a letter to the Daily Telegraph defending her after a series of bullying allegations. Lets speak to our Political Correspondent jonathan blake. Jonathan, whats in the letter . This is a show of support for the home secretary at the end of what has been a very difficult week for her. As you mentioned, more than 90 supporters of hers, you will not have heard of most of them, i have to say, but they include the conservative electing strategist and a handful of tory peers, say they have all worked with her at some point, or been involved with campaigns alongside her, and they say that, we do not recognise the picture that has been painted of priti patel this week. Shes certainly tough, assertive and effective leader but even under extreme pressure, the letter says, she has never crossed a line or lost her temper. It goes on to say that it is right that good ministers cannot be brought down by smears and gossip. It seems that the home secretarys intention as well, to not be removed from her post after several reports in the media of accusations against her of bullying, which she continues to deny. The Prime Minister this week defended her very strongly at Prime Ministers questions, saying he was, quote, sticking by her. Priti patel is being investigated by the cabinet 0ffice is being investigated by the Cabinet Office which is looking to establish if she broke the ministerial code and there is a prospect of an employment tribunal by her former top office at the home office in the coming months. For some, the military community represents a brotherhood or sisterhood that no other organisation can provide. And for others, its a way of life which you never want to leave. Rory mcilroy is one shot off the lead going into todays second round of the Arnold Palmer invitational in florida. Hes on 5 under par behind the american matt every. Rory mcilroy in really good form. Thanks, mike. Heres matt with a look at this mornings weather. I really enjoyed some sunshine yesterday, i dont know if it was just the north west of england but please tell me there is more to come this weekend there will be at times. More wind and rain on the way but not as bad as recent weekends. Good morning. Today, plenty of sunshine, which will be welcome news for those who sat under rain all day long in the south and east. But a chilly start, just a quick example of temperatures from north to south. So, expect some frost around, a little bit of patchy fog in the west too. But the big picture shows the cloud which brought that rain yesterday has now cleared out of the way. This will bring some rain on our way this weekend. At the moment, a window of fine weather but that area of cloud in the west. Showers in south west scotland, eastern Northern Ireland, wales and the south west, these will see showers through the day. Wintry over the higher ground. But for the vast majority across central and eastern parts, it will be a dry day, lots of sunshine. After a frosty start, temperatures up to the levels they should be, 7 to 11 celsius. And im starting to notice more strength in the sunshine when you are under it. This evening and overnight, some isolated showers to begin, temperatures taking an initial dip, but by the end of the night as cloud and patchy rain pushes into the west, temperature starting to lift. Still close enough to freezing for a frosty start into tomorrow morning. But as ive already mentioned, another weekend, another weekend of strengthening winds but the good news is, most of that will be taking place by night. Associated with this cold front, which will be largely towards the west on saturday, edging and across some Western Areas during the day. The best of any brightness in the east, some patchy rain, many in southern and eastern areas are staying largely dry. The rain shower to begin with, more persistent across parts of western scotland, Northern Ireland and north west england later. Temperatures lifting into double figures for many on saturday afternoon. The will strengthen later, we could see gales through saturday night and into sunday morning. The cold front works its way through bringing rain to all parts through saturday night but it will not hang around for too long, working through all areas reasonably smartly. Into sunday, clearing away from the south east, back to sunshine and showers for sunday. Some of the showers could be heavy or thundery, mostly in the west, a few will push east and after a reasonably mild start, temperatures dropping through the afternoon back to around 8 to 10 celsius. All in all, even though there is wind and rain, not that bad a weekend compared to what weve had of late ill take that, not that bad time to have a look at the papers. 0nce again dominated by coronavirus. The sun leads with the news of the first death in the uk. The paper reports the woman picked up the bug in britain. It also carries a picture of the duchess of sussex, who, along with prince harry, made one of her final appearance as a working royal. The daily mails lead story focuses on the ruler of dubai, after the high court found him responsible for the abduction of two of his daughters. The telegraph leads on the announcement that patients with mild cases of coronavirus will be told to stay at home to ease pressure on the nhs. And the most read story on the bbc news website is a story about an american man who was jailed for 30 days after he was caught licking ice cream before putting it back in a supermarket freezer. What . he opened the tub and licked it . Thats just. What . he opened the tub and licked it . Thatsjust. You what . he opened the tub and licked it . Thatsjust. You tell what . he opened the tub and licked it . Thats just. You tell your children off for doing that sort of thing. Thats outrageous what have you got for us . Coronavirus on the back pages as well in terms of the premier league banning handshakes. Not that there is much contact in the actual games. Far more in fact than the handshakes, but a suggestion. Eddie jones talking the last six nations match for england. Eddiejones talking about how difficult it has been to forget all the noise around the coronavirus. Hygiene has always been paramount for england, they have to focus on getting revenge for that defeat to wales a year ago. Crafts went ahead anyway, just look for a moment, the picture of this miniature poodle. Crufts. As you look at it more and more, it gets more and more odd. No disrespect to the owner and the dog, something about the feet. It looks like they are trousers rather than legs. Where are trousers rather than legs. Where are its other legs . It is standing i are its other legs . It is standing up it looks like it is boxing a bit odd, but there you go. So crufts is unaffected although they are taking extra measures. Coronavirus is affecting everything. If you are a cat person rather than a dog person, this is my favourite picture. The couple who had created a fake picture. If you want to share any of your pictures with your comfy and cozy cat, wherever it prefers, you can send them to us. We will see you can send them to us. We will see you later. All the weather and the latest on the coronavirus coming up a little later. When dna fingerprinting was first discovered 35 years ago this week, little did people know it would become so revolutionary in police investigations. Since then, its helped to put millions of criminals behind bars. It was first used in the narborough and enderby murder cases in 1987, not only catching the killer but preventing a grave miscarriage of justice, as Graham Satchell reports. November 1983. The body of a 15 year old girl, lynda mann, is found in a village near leicester. Its still raw. And i cant believe that after 35 years. She was such a lovely girl. It was wrong. Three years later, and a second girl is found less than a mile away. Dawn ashworth was also 15. When dawns body was found, police knew straightaway they were looking for a serial killer. What happened during the course of this investigation would change Police Detective work around the world forever. David, just explain what all this pile of stuff here is. These are mementos from the case, are they . David baker, who is now 84, was leading the double murder investigation. He had arrested a 17 year old richard buckland. Buckland had admitted the second murder, but there was a problem. There was no, er, circumstantial evidence against him on the first murder, and he totally denied it. You were convinced it was one murderer . Yes. David had read in the local paper about research being done at the university of leicester. Professor Alec Jeffreys had attached dna from cells to photographic film. The result each persons individual dna could be read. David baker contacted professor jeffreys to get bucklands dna tested. Nobody had ever attempted a crime scene dna analysis, a real live crime dna analysis before. Would the test find the killer . Would bucklands dna match that found at the crime scene . They came back not connected. The result was stunning. A blow to you . Well, it was a blow, because it meant that wed got the wrong man. Buckland was released. The very first time dna profiling was used in a criminal case, it exonerated a suspect. David baker was back to square one. Two murders, one killer, no suspects. It says, will the killer strike again . How can you help to trap him . We made a decision there and then to use the dna system as part and parcel of the enquiry. What happened next was extraordinary. Police asked all the men who lived in the local area to give a sample of their dna. Lynda manns aunt and uncle remember it well. I had to go and give blood, and when i went, i had to queue. The queue was amazing, all these males, all queueing up to have their bloods took. They wanted it sorted out as much as we did. And to see all these people queueing, in the three villages, was unbelievable. More than 5000 men gave a blood sample voluntarily. And eventually, the killer was caught. This is pitchfork. He went from being a very normal family man to a murderer in a split second. Colin pitchfork, a local baker, was sentenced to life. The first person ever to be convicted on the basis of genetic evidence. His dna was identical to that found on both victims. What was that moment like . Relief. If you were to have told me, back in those days, in 1984, that we had started something which to this day, more than 30 Million People worldwide have been dna profiled, a major tool in solving crime, the standard tool for sorting out paternity and immigration disputes, i think i would have laughed at you. Today there are ongoing debates about dna, how the information is stored, who should have access to it, how its used. But lyndas family have no doubts about genetic profiling and the historic role it played in solving the double murder. We like to think of it as lynda and dawns legacy. Out of something so terrible and so dreadful, something came out of this that is helping thousands of people. Extraordinary developments in dna. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning from bbc london. Im tolu adeoye. Thames water has been criticised for the amount of time it took to fix a blocked pipe which left an elderly couple with sewage at their home for a week. Patrick baldwin, who cares for his wife who has dementia, says the couple have been treated disgracefully. He was initially told hed have to sort it out himself because it was an act of god. To have this on top of Everything Else is nearly unbearable, but ive had to bear it and get on with it. What do you say to someone in your family, that has dementia, that they cant use the downstairs toilet . And that really got quite stressful. Well, thames water has told us its now unblocked the pipe and will help to prevent further flooding in the future. A derelict tube station is being used to heat thousands of homes in islington. City road station shut down nearly 100 years ago. Now its been converted into a ventilation shaft, with warm air from the tube being pumped to ground level and used to heat waterfor buildings. Lets take a look at the travel situation now. Theres a good service on the tubes this morning. 0n the trains southern, thameslink and the Gatwick Express services are running with delays to and from brighton following an earlier points failure. 0n the roads, theres the usual delays on the a13 heading out of dagenham into barking. Finally on the south circular in lee, theres a closure westbound from the cliftons roundabout, thats because of a burst water main. Now the weather with elizabeth rizzini. Hello, good morning. Its a much nicer day of weather today across the capital than yesterday. Yesterdays rain has now cleared and it should stay dry, or mostly dry they mayjust be one or two showers as we head towards the end of the day. Some decent spells of sunshine around and it wont feel quite so chilly. We are starting off the morning on around 4 celsius, theres a bit of early mist around, some early cloud towards the east in particular that should clear and the sunshine will emerge. Sunny spells into the afternoon. The chance of one or two showers as we head towards the end of the day from these weather fronts just working their way in from the west, but they will be very few and far between. Top temperatures between 7 and 10 celsius. Note the change in wind direction, weve lost that chilly easterly wind that we had yesterday, that made it feel really rather cold. But it will be a cold night overnight tonight, lots of clear skies around, clouding over from the west into tomorrow morning, but temperatures low enough for a touch of frost, 1 or 2 celsius in many of the towns. So clouding over tomorrow, a few splits and spots of rain during the day, the winds are going to pick up, there will be some rain on saturday night, blustery showers and some sunny spells on sunday. What we were saying at half time was, there was nothing to be scared of, nothing to be fearful of. Ultimately, two bits of, well, the first goal was magic, the first goal was a brilliant strike. The second goal, i thought, was poor defensively, which we need to be better on. Butjust two little bits of quality, thats why theyre the best team in the world. After england beat them to the shebelieves trophy last year, this will be a really satisfying win for these us players on their home turf. They were ruthless here in orlando this evening. Business leaders have warned that flybes collapse will have a hugely negative impact on the uks regional economies. Ben is at george best Belfast City Airport for us this moning to find out what the consequences are there. Good morning. It really is devastating for an airport like this, relying so much on flybe business. Yes, it really is hard to underestimate just how important flybe was to a place like this. 80 of the flights that left Belfast City Airport were operated by flybe. Looking at the board this morning, the flights are still listed, due to depart according to the board but we know the airline went under yesterday so they will be going nowhere very fast. This tells you the story, the check in desks of flybe are empty. There was some good news yesterday, loganair, a scottish regional airline, will take over two routes. You can see its logo just there in the corner. A relatively Small Airline but it will take over two of the 14 roots that flybe operated. There is real concerns about what the collapse of flybe could mean for regional economies across the country and it could be bad news for business. What made flybe different was the way it connected britain . Regional airports, carrying passengers between places like belfast, edinburgh and southampton. At those airports could be hit hard by the collapse. Flybe operated out of 36 uk airports. Accounting for half of the flights from the isle of man, 80 at exeter, and the majority of flights from southampton. Southampton airport is very heavily dependent on flybe, it has been for yea rs. Dependent on flybe, it has been for years. Government may need to step in to give the airport some support to keep it going. Regional connectivity really that which is not often understood by london politicians. Scottish Airline Loganair has stepped in to take over 14 roots including two in and out of belfast. The rest hang in the balance. Many businesses rely on these routes and without them, the future and the local economy they support could be at risk. There are some of the issues at sta ke. There are some of the issues at stake. Lets talk about them, Brian Ambrose is the chief executive at city airport, and the co founder of a tech firm. Give me a sense of what flybe meant to the airport. Two thirds of the passengers so vital to the airport, 14 roots, all domestic to great britain. Yesterday the task was to try and support staff were made redundant and then immediately engage with airlines to backfill the business. I will come onto those negotiations. Philip, you run a tech firm and he relied on the connectivity, give me a sense of what it means. We would have spent 60 or 50 flights a year with flybe. Its all about market access, we have customers in manchester, birmingham and the east midlands, and through scotland, those regional links were very important. It will be Short Term Impact for the london bike show, all of our staff were booked to go to London City Airport and now we have to rebook to go to different london airports to make a commitment to our customers. When you hear an example like that, as the boss of the airport, you must think, this is a huge market that you could be tapping in to what you dont have the ability to do it, talk to me about the negotiations with airlines to get the roots but back on. That is the positive part of the story. There is a big demand for routes, there was a lot of engagement from the airline, one airline has announced new routes already. We are confident we can backfill all of the routes because there is a strong market demand for this airport. Those negotiations ta ke this airport. Those negotiations take time, i cant imagine that you havent been having negotiations already with a number of airlines that you have a unique problem in terms of the length of the runway here . Not really, all of our business is currently domestic. Its not a short runway, it is a mile and a quarter. We can go to south east spain. Its simply a matter of, we have the Route Network sorted out, now we need to select airlines, find aircraft availability, crew, engineers, all of the logistics. Maybe if we do announce routes in the coming days, they might not start for a week or two but we are confident that quickly we will be back up and running. Philip, you are a tech firm, can you not video conference, skype, face time . Why do you physically need to get there . We do all of that stuff as well but the importance of looking someone in the eye and shaking their hand is very important in this day and age. Good to talk to you both, we will talk later. There you get a sense of what it means for businesses here. To give you a sense of what the colla pse give you a sense of what the collapse of the airline meant, we we re collapse of the airline meant, we were in birmingham yesterday morning, we travelled from birmingham to london, london to dublin and dublin to belfast, so getting those routes is very important for local business and regional economies. We also heard yesterday some of the difficulties faced by the staff left out of work. Flybes collapse has left more than 2,000 people out of work and many will now be looking for alternative employment. Sophie wilson is one of them. Shes been with the airline for more than a year, working as a flight attendant. She joins us now from aberdeen. I still feel in shock about it all. You will have seen the warning signs, did you have any idea what would come . Now, but obviously in the same situation about a month ago. We all thought we were safe. This week was a total shock to me. When and how did you find out . this week was a total shock to me. When and how did you find out . I had seen it on social media and the news. It was confirmed by flybe just after midnight that they had gone into administration. Just one more finally, there is a slight problem with the sound, what is your plan now . We know loganair are taking over a number of routes in scotland, might they something for you . over a number of routes in scotland, might they something for you . I have already applied. I hope to get a job in the Aviation Industry pretty soon. We wish you all the very best going forward. Thank you for talking to us, sophie wilson, former flybe cabin crew, apologies for problems with the sound there. Heres matt with a look at this mornings weather. Looking fairly mixed, but before we get there, the latest on record breaking news across europe this past winter. Behind me the scene in San Sebastian in february, the same day in which valencia hit 30 degrees. That was a record breaking winter as far as temperatures were concerned across europe. This shows you how temperatures are varied compared to the norm. The red shows temperature above average. You can see much of europe not only above average but well above. Almost 3. 5 degrees above what it should be through the winter months of december, january and february. And a full degree and a bit above where the previous record stood, it was a remarkable winter across much of europe. The impact as well of those blistering temperatures, the ice wine harvest in germany failed completely, ski slopes had to import snow to make them usable, and for some, 0k, northern finland may have seen a bit of snow, but in helsinki, very little. Here, temperatures were 5 degrees warmer than they should have been for the time of year. Europe does get very variable winters as well and it can vary markedly across the continent, but to see most of europe in red is something pretty unusual. A vast departure from what some of you will be feeling this morning in the uk. Temperatures at levels they should be for the time of year, a bit of a chilly start but a mixture of sunshine and showers, which will be welcome relief to those in the south, who saw relentless rain across much of yesterday. A cold start, temperatures at or below freezing across many parts of the uk. So you will need something warm to get you to and from work. Yesterdays cloud and rain has cleared away, this will bring some rain this weekend. We have a window of fine weather, but this strip of white is a line of showers which affected parts of south west scotland, the east of Northern Ireland, wales and the south west. There will be some snow over the tops of the hills as well, nothing too much. We will continue to see showers through the day, perhaps more developing in western scotland later. The odd isolated one further east. But the emphasis for most is ona dry east. But the emphasis for most is on a dry and fairly sunny days, quite a pleasant day for this stage of march, temperatures where they should be. The winds away from the south west will be quite light. Tonight, temperatures will take an initialdip, tonight, temperatures will take an initial dip, rising later as the cloud spills in from the west. Patchy rain and drizzle, temperatures up to 5 or six celsius in Northern Ireland by the end of the night. Further east, a touch of frost. Another weekend of strengthening winds and rain but the good news is, most of that will take place during saturday night. It is this system that is responsible as it moves in, bringing cloud to start saturday, the best of any brightness in the east. Some breaks in the cloud across eastern areas through saturday. In the west, cloud thickening, outbreaks of rain developing, particularly the west of scotla nd developing, particularly the west of scotland and Northern Ireland. Temperatures on the rise but we will be seeing gales in the west. Sunshine and showers for sunday. Back to rachel and charlie. Its been 25 years since the singer Alanis Morissette released her hugely successful record jagged little pill, which went on to become one of the biggest selling albums of all time. To celebrate the anniversary, alanis is going on tour, playing the whole album live. Alanis morissette. Sir. Celebrating 25 years of jagged little pill. Can you quite believe its a quarter of a century . I cannot quite believe that. It feels like 25 minutes. And then it also feels like another lifetime, another person. And im here to remind you of the mess you left when you went away. Sold 33 million copies, album of the year at the grammys, you were 21. Yes. How ready were you for that level of success . It was pretty heady and a little daunting. I had this big inner conflict as well, because competition within art, how can you say yellow is better than purple and all that. However, it was also kind of surreal and a dream, every day the phone would ring and when i went to sleep, it was my going back into reality. The waking was the dream for me. Isnt it ironic, dont you think . Its like rain on your wedding day. A few notes on ironic remember that one, isnt it ironic . No, its not. Ask me another. Have you seen ed byrnens comedy skit about the lyrics for ironic . No. She kept naming all these things in the song that was supposed to be ironic, and none of them were. They were alljust unfortunate. Good advice that you just didnt take. Hes not alone there. I think the entire planet has kicked my ass for 20 years no, i think the biggest irony is that im usually the grammar police. I didnt even want the song on the record but people were saying, we love this song, so i said, all right, lets put it on there, i dont care. Why didnt you want it on . The lyrics are beautiful and poetic, and i love to sing that song, its so sweet. But it was just at that juncture where i was starting to write much more autobiographically. Such pretty forks in the road is the new album. Itll be out in may. These are the reasons i drink the reasons i tell everybody im fine even though im not. Is this autobiographical . Was there a time when you were drinking too much . Uh, yes what age . It was interesting, i didnt drink for 20 years because i was such a work addict. The reasons i feel everything so deeply when im not medicated. Love addiction was a big deal, very painful withdrawal, that one. And then food for a while when i was younger. Alcohol, i mean, all of them, really. I think a lot of people who are mired in addiction dont have a lot of mercy offered to them a lot of empathy. So, just a lot ofjudgment and rejection, and, you know, categorising them in this really mean way. You have the new baby. Winter, born in august, how does that tally as a name . You know, i like to go counter. Winter. Im trying not to say ironic at this point. Is it ironic, though . No, ithink, well, id been through some losses and some false starts along the way and that name had always stayed with us. And then it was just a huge gift slash surprise, i had no idea, i felt really healthy. It was very much not planned . But, i mean, always unconsciously desperately wanting three children. How are you finding it . I love it, im so tired. I barely remember my own name. But very much worth it. So will we see you back in five years time for the 30th anniversary . Why not well think of something fun to do. And i would normally end an interview with a handshake what do we do in these times . Do you want an elbow bump . Elbow . That was a bit hard that was such a soundtrack for so many years to my. I was going to cite youth, i think it was vaguely my youth. Later teenage years. You notice i am saying nothing my youth. Later teenage years. You notice i am saying nothing i cant even work it out. Wasnt she lovely . Just really and smiling. We didnt talk about cats by the way, we should say, Alanis Morissettes new album is out in may, then the jagged little pill tour reaches the uk in september. We are going to talk about delightful cats. We showed you a picture earlier from the papers of a couple who designed a fake lap for their cat to nap in. Their cat was a rescue cat it was quite needy, so whenever there people left the room the cat would be looking for somewhere to sit. So this was a couple of trousers round a heated pad. Well done to rebecca and alex who designed it. So when they are out, the cat is happy. So lots of people have sent pictures of their cats asleep in various. Trying to work that one out donna tweeted this picture of her cat missy in her favourite sleeping position. That just makes thatjust makes you feel co mforta ble thatjust makes you feel comfortable makes you feel that having little sleep right now. This is morally, chilling on a radiator, they love a warm place. Mike this is marley. This is stephens cat. Lying on a laptop. They are very annoying like that, cats. I dont know why they are so attracted to la pto ps. Know why they are so attracted to laptops. Thank you to alice for this one. Having a nap in the sink. Whats good about that, is that hand sanitiser i can see . Not only is it co mforta ble, sanitiser i can see . Not only is it comfortable, its also got. Clearly some hand washing is going on. I love that cat. That cat is claiming that sink you can email us at bbcbrea kfast bbc. Co. Uk or share your thoughts with other viewers on our facebook page. And you can tweet about todays stories using the hashtag bbcbreakfast. Fairto fair to say there are a lot of cat pictures coming in good morning from bbc london, im tolu adeoye. Students in london whove been excluded from school are to get extra help in plans to be set out by the mayor later. City halls Violence Reduction unit will announce proposals for so called nurturing programmes that help tackle the consequences of exclusions. There will also be more money for peer mentoring groups. Thames water has been criticised for the amount of time it took to fix a blocked pipe which left an elderly couple with sewage at their home for a week. Patrick baldwin, who cares for his wife who has dementia says the couple have been treated disgracefully. He was initially told hed have to sort it out himself because it was an act of god. To have this on top of Everything Else is nearly unbearable, but ive had to bear it and get on with it. What do you say to someone in your family, that has dementia, that they cant use the downstairs toilet . And that really got quite stressful. Well, thames water has told us its now uinblocked the pipe and will help to prevent further flooding in the future. 0n the trains, southern and thameslink trains services via Mitcham Junction are disrupted following flooding problems. 0n the roads, in lee, there are delays on the a20 towards burnt ash hill as traffic diverts from the part closure on the south circular for Emergency Water work. 0n the clockwise m25, the slip road onto the southbound a3 is closed because of flooding. So clouding over tomorrow, a few spits and spots of rain during the day, the winds are going to pick up, there will be some rain on saturday night, blustery showers and some sunny spells on sunday. Theres plenty more news on our website, facebook and instagram pages. Bye for now. Good morning, welcome to breakfast with Charlie Stayt and rachel burden. 0ur headlines today. A woman in her 70s becomes the first person in the uk to die of coronavirus as the government plans what to do next. What the Scientists Say is youve got a range of things that you can do to arrest or check the spread of a disease but you cant fire your shots too early. Well be talking to the governments chief scientific advisor at 7. 30am. The duchess of sussex joins prince harry on one of their last official engagements before they quit royal life. Business leaders say the collapse of flybe will have a hugely negative impact on the uks regional economies. Im at belfast airport to find out what impact will be felt here. In sport, the slump deepens for englands women. The defence of their shebelieves cup gets off to a disappointing start as theyre outclassed by the world champions the usa. Can you believe it . Another weekend on the rate, another on the way, more wind and rain but its not as bad as it starts, it is a cold and frosty start this morning. Its friday 6th march. Our top story. A woman in her 70s has become the first person in the uk to die as a result of coronavirus. 116 people have tested positive for the illness here. The Prime Ministers Spokesman Says its now highly likely the virus will spread in a significant way. Jon donnison reports. Royal berkshire nhs trust say the woman whos died was in her 70s. Shed been in and out of hospital in reading for other Health Problems when she tested positive for coronavirus on wednesday. 0bviously, our sympathies are very much with the victim and their family. But the situation is pretty much as it has been in the sense that we are still in the contain phase. Now our scientists and medical advisers are making preparations for the delay phase. More details of the cases in the uk have now emerged. There are 45 people being treated in isolation at home. So far, 18 out of the overall total have fully recovered, but the source of infection in ten cases remain unexplained. Alder hey hospital in liverpool has confirmed a child there has covid 19. Its not known how old the patient is and doctors say children appear to be more resistant to the virus. Meanwhile, off the coast of california, 140 british people are among passengers stuck on a cruise ship which is having to have coronavirus testing kits airlifted in after two people travelling on a separate cruise on the ship last month tested positive. I dont see anybody Walking Around that appears sick. There may be some, if there are, they must be in, in the medical area. Nobody is Walking Around sneezing or coughing. Now, people are, im sure, a little anxious, but nobody has gone screaming mad yet. Back home, speaking on question time last night, the Health Secretary matt hancock addressed concerns of panic buying causing shortages because of growing fears over the outbreak. The government has supplies of the key things that are needed, and within the food supply, we are absolutely confident that people will, that there wont be a problem there. And crucially, we are working with the supermarkets to make sure that if people are self isolating, then will be able to get the food and supplies that they need. And as hospitals come under increasing pressure as the number of cases continues to rise, Officials Say people with less severe symptoms will be asked to take care of themselves at home. Jon donnison, bbc news. Well, the government recently changed its advice for people travelling from italy. Anyone returning to the uk from any part of italy, notjust the north, must call 111 or self isolate, if they feel unwell. Bethany bell is in milan for us. Is that change in advice an indication that things are getting worse in italy . We have seen a number of deaths rising in italy, is there a sense that they have not quite got a grip on this yet . At the moment, yes, it seems as though the contagion isnt showing any signs of slowing. We did have a rise in deaths reported yesterday evening, 148 people now known to have died, a jump of 41 deaths since the previous day. The total number of cases of people testing positive for coronavirus has also risen from around 3002 3800 3000, to 3800. The Italian Government is saying it is trying to prevent the spread even more, schools and universities have been closed across the country. They have urged elderly people to stay at home if they possibly can although it is interesting because of childcare needs, i have seen grandparents out with the grandchildren while their pa rents with the grandchildren while their parents go to work. There is a sense of increasing insecurity and wondering how long this is going to last. Thank you so much. Well be speaking to the governments chief scientific 0fficer, sir patrick vallance, just after 7. 30am. Scotlands loganair has said it will take on 16 of flybes domestic routes following the collapse of the airline. Flybe went into administration on thursday after a bid for fresh Financial Support failed. The government says its working to save more routes. Ben is at Belfast City Airport to look at the impact in Northern Ireland, that will come up just after 630 7 30am. Police are investigating the death of a newborn baby boy, who was found in an area of woodland in hampshire. Officers are now trying to trace the mother of the child, who was discovered in hythe, near southampton, yesterday afternoon. The death is being treated as unexplained. Almost 100 allies of the home secretary, priti patel, have written a letter to the Daily Telegraph defending her after a series of bullying allegations. Lets speak to our Political Correspondent jonathan blake. Jonathan, whats in the letter . It is written by, as you say, almost 100 people who consider themselves friends or allies of the home secretary, among them sir lynton crosby, the conservative Party Election strategist and a handful of tory peers as well. They say they have all worked or been involved in campaigns alongside priti patel and they dont recognise the picture that has been painted of her this week. She is certainly a tough, assertive and effective leader, they say, but even under extreme pressure, she has never crossed a line or lost her temper. They go on to say that, it is right that good ministers cannot be brought down by smears and gossip. Thats the intention of priti patel herself and the Prime Minister borisjohnson, who backed his home secretary explicitly in the house of commons earlier this week saying, he was, quote, sticking by her. Priti patel continues to deny the allegations of bullying and misconduct against her but she is under investigation by the Cabinet Office to see if she has broken the ministerial code and there is an employment tribunal being brought by her top official at the Home Office Said Philip Rutnam where some of these invested allegations could be made in public and in detail. But there is support for the home secretary after what has been a very difficult week for her. The duke and duchess of sussex have made their First Official appearance together since their announcement they were stepping back from royal duties. Harry and meghan attended the Endeavour Fund awards in london last night which honours the achievements of wounded, sick and injured service personnel. Frankie mccamley has more and there are flashing images in her report. Despite stepping back from royal duties, last night, it really was a royal welcome for prince harry and meghan, with press from all over the world waiting to see the couple alongside crowds braving the rain, hoping to get a glimpse. Its meghans First Official appearance since the couples announcement in january that theyre stepping back as senior royals. Entering Mansion House in Central London to celebrate the achievements of sick and injured military personnel, the couple enjoyed a warm and friendly reception. Presenting an award, there was a nod from meghan to the couples new life across the atlantic. Good evening, everybody. Its very nice to be back. Afterwards, harryjoined former colleagues to speak passionately about the cause. For some, the military community represents a brotherhood or sisterhood that no other organisation can provide. And for others, its a way of life which you never want to leave. For a lot of us, its both. Being able to serve queen and country is something that we are all rightly proud of, and it never leaves us. As the couple continue on whats being dubbed their farewell tour, prince harry isjoining Lewis Hamilton at silverstone, whilst meghan takes part in International Womens day. Their last engagement as senior members of the royal family is on monday when well finally see them with members of the royal family working together at this level for the final time. Frankie mccamley, bbc news. Now, how about this for a heart stopping stunt. This is American Daredevil nik wallenda walking across an active volcano on a tightrope in nicaragua. From above really shows exactly what he is doing. It took him 30 minutes to cross the boiling lava lake in the masaya volcano. He had to wear breathing equipment to protect him from the gases in the crater, which is nicknamed the mouth of hell. Of course it is. You can see he is attached via wires, to some kind of support mechanism, but hes not using that to keep them on the tightrope. His there entirely with his own balance. Just bonkers that cove rs his own balance. Just bonkers that covers it, really heres matt with a look at this mornings weather. Good morning. Not bad out there this morning, a bit of a chilly start but look at this for the view from sheffield at the moment. Blue skies overhead, son on the horizon. It is cold, 1 in sheffield at the moment. Widely below freezing in many parts of the uk, 6 or 7 in the far north of the uk, 6 or 7 in the far north of scotland. You will be scraping frost off of the car if you are stepping out of the door. And you will have some showers in a few places, South West England, south wales, argyll and bute, the showers could be sleet on the hills. These areas are sea showers through the day but away from that, the vast majority starting the day drive with plenty of sunshine and more to come into the afternoon. A big improvement towards the south and east. These are the afternoon temperatures, seven to 11 degrees, lifting after a chilly start. By the time we get to the evening rush hour, a few showers in the south west of england and wales, but as many as this morning. But most places dry, some showers in the middle part of the day in Northern Ireland at a greater chance of showers in western scotland. Away from the south west of england, the wind will be like but the breeze picking up tonight. Tonight to begin with, a widespread frost to begin with. Showers coming in from the west, temperature rising. The rain will be coming in more persistently in the north west scotland and the isles. The weekend will see more wind and rain but mainly during saturday night, all of us will see some spell of gales and rain. Either side of that, dry weather and a sunshine particularly on sunday. A bit blurry but overall, better than a recent weekend. A little bit below e. The knock on effects of the coronaVirus Outbreak could mean changes in how we live our lives over the coming months. Were going to talk to a number of guests about those potential changes. First we have hayley soper and reece upton who are due to get married in eight weeks time in southern italy. Good morning to both of you. Exciting times, looking forward to your wedding but how are you feeling now about preparations . Good morning. 0bviously, at the moment, we are trying to be pragmatic about things and not try to worry or get too stressed. But obviously there is a lot going on with coronavirus so it isa a lot going on with coronavirus so it is a little bit concerning. Tell us it is a little bit concerning. Tell us about your plans, how many people have you got going and what have you told them about the coronavirus and how it might impact . At the moment, we have about 60 guests coming over in total. Quite a good number. We have elderly and Young Children as well, so we are trying to be level headed, as well, so we are trying to be level headed, as possible, well, so we are trying to be level headed, as possible, telling people not to worry because the government is backing that. Until we hear any further, theres not much more we can do apart from reassure them and say we are doing all we can to keep an eye on it. We have the changed travel advice with the government saying anyone who has been anywhere in italy, if they then get symptoms, flu like symptoms, to self isolate, so it feels like suddenly you are being drawn into the bracket that you were not part of previously. Yes, absolutely. Its obviously a little bit worrying, we dont want to put our Guests Health at risk but we want everybody to enjoy and come and celebrate our wedding with us. We are in a bit of a dilemma at the moment what to do, we are holding fire on changing any plans and speaking to the venue. But obviously we really want our friends and family to come and visit us and come out with us. But we dont know if thats going to be able to happen at the moment. Practical issues particularly around your more elderly relatives, you are worried about yourgran, is elderly relatives, you are worried about your gran, is that right . Yeah, yeah, shes got some problems with respiratory problems, anyway, shes 83 years old so its quite a feat trying to get her to agree to come to italy in the first place. And theyre obviously with coronavirus, i know there are people who are far worse off than us that are poorly and its obviously such sad news, people being ill but we just dont want to put people like her address, really, just for the sake of ourwedding. Her address, really, just for the sake of our wedding. Its a big day but we dont want her to get poorly from it. Understood and this isjust one illustration, there will be loads of people with similar stories and its just giving loads of people with similar stories and itsjust giving everyone loads of people with similar stories and its just giving everyone an idea of how this will begin to impact on peoples lives and their plans and what they will be doing. Do you have a plan b . Its always quite knew nice to have an excuse for a second party if your italy wedding had to be curtailed. We have a plan to have a party back here anyway. But i think what we are going to do is give it a couple of weeks, then if the situation has changed, we will see how much the has spread, if we are able to go back to italy, we would still like to do that, but we might have to postpone the wedding and i do go out later in the year, or maybe have to see if we can get married here although i imagine most of the venues here are pretty booked up at peak wedding season. Wishing you all the very best, im sure you will get it sorted one way or another. They are finding their weather slightly like the wedding slightly disrupted because it is in italy. Lets speak now to self employed Delivery Driver ed cross who has already noticed a change in the behaviour of the customers he is delivering to. The official advice is to wash your hands and try to carry on as best as normal, what is your everyday experience trying to deliver parcels to people . Good morning. Up until yesterday, or a few days ago, things we re yesterday, or a few days ago, things were as normal, but i thinkjust with the more news thats on the tv, weve had customers yesterday refusing to sign for parcels at the door. Just talk me through that, you have turned up at someones door, what happens . Well, yesterday, i knocked on the door of an elderly lady and she wouldnt even answer the door. She spoke to me through the door. She spoke to me through the door. She spoke to me through the door and wanted to know, did i sterilise my little hand held machine . She wanted to leave the parcel in her porch and leave because she was frightened of. What have you been told to do in those circumstances . Well, we are hoping hermes are going to look at the procedure but we do have a Safe Delivery on our machine, so it was 0k to leave it in her porch for her. You mentioned about your hand held device, obviously people are familiar with that, you deliver the parcel and you sign for it, you have the device, what is happening about that are you making any special precautions around that . that are you making any special precautions around that . I am personally, i am tending to wipe it down a lot more with hand wipes just for my own safety and for those of the customers im delivering to stub i suppose thats one side of this issue, how you interact with people, and that will maybe cause problem cause problems. The other issue is that youre self employed, what have your employer is said about your set of circumstances . Well, as we are self employed, should we have to self isolate, we wouldnt be paid, and that at the moment is a growing issue across our network because we have people who may not be able to afford rent if they lose half a months salary. Hermes say they are making a £1 million Fund Available for self employed couriers to support them if they need to self isolate as a result of the coronavirus. Presumably, you too and your fellow drivers, you coronavirus. Presumably, you too and yourfellow drivers, you have coronavirus. Presumably, you too and your fellow drivers, you have the concern of your own health, as in, people might be worried about you coming to their door but it works both ways, doesnt it . Yes, i mean, those who are self isolating, weve heard tell the gaffer mac is saying that if you self isolate, you can order incoming we would hope if people are self isolating they would let us know so we dont get infected. 0k, we wish you well and thank you very much for your time this morning. Just dealing with some of the practicalities of whats going on at the moment. Virologist dr Muhammad Munir joins us now in the studio. Every day we are giving updates about where we are with this particular Virus Outbreak but it looked liked we have moved into a new phase. There was talk yesterday about the fact we had moved from containment into delay. Can you explain both of those terms for us . When we say containment, that means we identify people who are potentially positive, then we try to isolate them from the rest of the community so that the transmission can be intervened, that is containment. That stage is not working, so we have to work in the next strategy, which is delay, that means we need to minimise the contact between the community by closing schools or are looking for discouraging gatherings, discouraging gatherings, discouraging public transport travelling and so on. This is the strategy we will be working on now. Which means some kind of big outbreak is inevitable now . What we have seen so far out of 116 cases in the uk, ten of them have no travel history and no contact with anyone with no known positivity so there is a Community Spread ongoing summer i a Community Spread ongoing summer , so what we want to do now is to delay as long as we can do, we will have more time to develop vaccines, but at the same time we would have less i m pa ct but at the same time we would have less impact on the health care system. If all come at once that would be a bit of a burden on an already busy nhs situation. So as we are moving from containment to the next phase, delay, people will be maybe confused as to what it is they can do in the daily lives. The decisions about School Closures, major events, will be taken outside of their control, they will be made by local authorities or the government. But what difference does this change mean to what we do . As to personal hygiene in the whole covid19 to personal hygiene in the whole covid 19 scenario, after personal hygiene, you must stay updated with the latest information. All instructions on School Closures or a limit on how many people can gather together will be the decision of the authorities Like Public Health england and the government. As those instructions are given, people would be in the position to make a decision, but as it stands now there is no any compulsion or restriction onto the gathering and so on. However, given the situation, we know transmission is through close contacts know transmission is through close co nta cts so know transmission is through close contacts so the chance for transmission is high so we will try our best to minimise contact between people. A picture here, a lot of this being shown on social media, people stockpiling food, buying up toilet rolls, shelves being empty, are those measures necessary . This is really important to make it clear for the public, the Current Situation we are in, there is no need to panic. The gaffer mac has been ensuring that they will not be any shortage of supply. The government. Especially food. But the government. Especially food. But the government is trying its level best to maintain the supply for medical usage, medical appliances, gloves and face masks and so on. At this moment, there is nothing to worry about, there is no need to panic or start stockpiling. There is no harm in repeating sometimes the information we have heard before but i was interested to hear from the Delivery Driver a moment ago, some practical things people are thinking about more, he was talking about his hand held device, inherently he is handing it to a number of people to hold, put in their card details and to sign and things. A piece of machinery like that, how long can the virus stay on their . What are the virus stay on their . What are the risks with that . The rate virus can survive on different surfaces depends on the dryness of the surface, it depends on the context of the surfaces. Specifically talking about the plastic surfaces, a virus can stay there for a couple of hours, so therefore, trying to keep it clean and tidy is absolutely important. So wiping something down with some kind of a wipe . A wet wipe, yes. Between every time someone is using it, that would be a practical and useful measure . Particularly when the person is having some flu like sickness, that is the time when you think there is probably a high chance so this practice needs to be repeated frequently. Thank you for talking to us frequently. Thank you for talking to us this morning. And keep your hands away from your mouth, thats the key thing, and from your eyes, your mouth and your nose. That is the key message. We will be speaking to the chief scientific advisor of the government so we will be addressing some of those issues we have been talking about with him, thats coming up later. You can keep up to date with all the develops my other developments online. You can find out about the symptoms to watch out for and what it means for you on the bbc news app and on our website. Thats bbc. Co. Uk news. Lets see what is still to come this morning. Its been 25 years since Alanis Morissette released the hugely successfuljagged little pill morissette released the hugely successful jagged little pill album. Shes talking to us this morning about life since then including dealing with addiction and her family. Time to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning from bbc london, im tolu adeoye. Students in london whove been excluded from school are to get extra help in plans to be announced by the mayor later. But on the trains, southern and Thameslink Services via Mitcham Junction are disrupted because of some flooding. 0n the roads in lee, there are delays on the a20 towards burnt ash hill as traffic diverts from the part closure on the south circular for Emergency Water work. Finally, 0ld kent road is blocked into town following a collision near the big asda. There are delays on the approach. Now the weather with elizabeth rizzini. Hello, good morning. Its a much nicer day of weather today across the capital than yesterday. Yesterdays rain has now cleared and it should stay dry, or mostly dry there mightjust be one or two showers as we head towards the end of the day. There are more stories on our website, facebook and instagram. Now its back to charlie and rachel. Bye for now. Hello, this is breakfast with Charlie Stayt and rachel burden. The number of cases of coronavirus in the uk has doubled in 48 hours and the first death here has been confirmed. The governments battle plan to tackle the spread of the illness remains in the first phase containment. But some Health Officials have suggested were moving on to the delay phase, which would see measures to prevent further infections ramped up. This is what the Prime Minister had to say yesterday. In Something Like this, what the Scientists Say is that youve got a range of things that you can do to arrest or check the spread of a disease but you cant fire your shots too early. Its all about the timing and the progression. And so theyre thinking very carefully about when that next suite of measures, those next options are used. One thing im absolutely sure of, we will be telling everybody as soon as we get that medical advice. Basically, were saying, wash your hands, business as usual, were still in the contain phase. 0bviously, were looking at the preparations we need to make now for delay. Joining us now from westminster is the governments chief scientific adviser, sir patrick vallance. Thank you so much for your time this morning. I wonder if we can first adjust the comments adjust the morning. I wonder if we can first adjust the address the comments from the Prime Minister, there is confusion about the phase we are at, at the containment phase all the delay phase, could you tell us exactly where we are . We are definitely containing, we need to Contact Trace, get people in the right form of isolation and we need to make sure we do what we can to contain around the country. But this is progressing and its progressing worldwide, and clearly, we need to be very well prepared to go into a delay phase, and there isnt an abrupt, move from one to the other, it isa abrupt, move from one to the other, it is a continuum and will you start to make the preparations for things that come next. We will start to make the preparations. What is key is choosing the right thing to do and doing them at the right time. What does the delay phase mean in practice . We would try to reduce the peak of the epidemic and ideally pushit peak of the epidemic and ideally push it out a bit into summer. He you would expect an epidemic like this to go up over 12 weeks and down in12 this to go up over 12 weeks and down in 12 weeks. 95 of the cases in the middle nine weeks, and 50 in the middle nine weeks, and 50 in the middle three weeks so you get a very sharp peak. For the nhs, middle three weeks so you get a very sharp peak. Forthe nhs, it middle three weeks so you get a very sharp peak. For the nhs, it would be better to dampen that down and get it broader and for the disease itself, it would be good to push it into the summer months where we would have less other respiratory infections and the nhs is under less pressure. The virus might be less transmissible in the summer, we dont know but respiratory viruses often are. There has been a suggestion that come the summer, the weather will help sort things out, help in some way. What is the Scientific Evidence for that . There isnt really Scientific Evidence for this virus because we havent seen it before in that situation. Its based on influenza and other respiratory infections which, as we all know, tend to be less common in the summer, you are more likely to get them in the winter and they have more of an effect in the winter. Thats the basis for thinking that if we can push it a bit into the summer, this virus is likely to be like other respiratory viruses so we could get the benefit. The nhs is also better able to cope in the summer months. There have been suggestions that the virus has already evolved and is changing, what can you tell us about that . The virus will evolve because thats what viruses do, they tend to change they go through multiple rounds of infection in people. Thats normal. Most viruses actually tend not to get more dangerous as they do that, they tend to get less dangerous. The worry is that it will mutate into something else, but there is no evidence that is happening and if anything, you would expect it to go down a bit to be more easily transmissible but less dangerous in the terms of its effects. At the moment we see nothing which suggests its changed in any way other than at the purely genetic level. M appears looking at the number of those who have tested positive, the main concern is the ten cases, but you could correct me on that number, where it is effectively unexplained, people who have not travelled overseas and there is not a direct correlation on how they have contracted the virus. That is important because it suggests person to person transmission in the uk, and thats the time that you start to then see transmission across the population are more likely and we have seen that in other countries. Thats why those cases are particularly important, we dont know the origin, it suggests that we will get more person to person transmission and thats certainly what we are preparing for. And we would then expect the epidemic to grow as a result of that. In general, if you look at wuhan and other cases, it looks as though the cases double over a five day period, it has gone up over a five day period, it has gone up quickly here because it has been about finding the cases, but in general, infection epidemic you would expect to increase in size every five days or so. On that issue of where it might go next, what does the science tell us . You mentioned person to person, how it can be transferred, that is the stage we are now at, so what does the sides tell us about what we should expect next . What does science tell us . The first thing to say is we can do two things. We must take care to protect ourselves and also take care to protect everyone else. There is measures that have been put out of washing your hands, making sure you dont touch yourface, washing your hands, making sure you dont touch your face, making sure that you are in a position also to do that not only to protect yourself but to protect others, and we will have to think about people who might be in isolation, how we can look after them as well. There is a Community Element to this and the personal element as to what we need to do. And then there are measures which we are looking at and modelling which we have been modelling which we have been modelling right from the beginning as to which other actions need to be taken to try and enhance that in terms of asking people to stay at home if they get an infection and thinking about other measures. And you have seen those measures laid out in the plan. They are not all going to be done and we think some arent going to make much difference and theyre arent going to make much difference and they re only arent going to make much difference and theyre only going to be done at the right time. Can i ask you what the right time. Can i ask you what the gap is between conversations happening happening in the pub and the cafe, along the lines of someone saying, im no more worried about this than i am about flu, what would you say to people saying that . For the vast majority of people, this is a mild illness so for the vast majority of people, this will not cause any real major problems. It is, however, overall, it has a higher mortality, death rate associated with it is the usual seasonal than usual seasonal flu. That could be five to ten times more than a seasonal flu so it is not just seasonal flu. And the elderly in particular, and the vulnerable, those with pre existing medical conditions, are the ones who are at most risk so any action needs to make sure they are particularly looked after and protected during any outbreak. Self isolation is going to become more of an issue. Under what circumstances is it correct for someone who has tested positive to be in self isolation at home, why would they not be in hospital . As i said, the vast majority of people who get this will be with a relatively mild illness and that can be managed at home perfectly well in self isolation, so staying at home, making sure you dont have contact with other people during the period you are infectious, and then allowing the disease to tail off until you test negative. That self isolation is the right course of action for the vast majority of people. Some people will require more specialist care, they will require oxygen and other things that might mean more things in home or hospital care. We shouldnt think that everybody goes to hospital, that everybody goes to hospital, that will be the wrong decision. Can i ask you about who is, according to the science so far, who is most likely to be affected . A lot of people asking questions about if you are pregnant and the implications there, but also is there evidence that men or women are more likely to catch coronavirus . Not much evidence there is any difference between men or women, maybe smokers are a bit more likely, in terms of pregnancy, we dont have any information on that. But unlike zika virus where there is a very specific thing which happens in pregnancy, but there is nothing to suggest that coronavirus has any issue in pregnancy. Children seem to either get a very mild illness or no illness at all so they have a very low chance at getting significantly ill. The ones more likely to get ill are the elderly, over the age of 65 or 70 in particularly and particularly over the age of 80 and those with coexisting medical conditions. Thank you so much for your time this morning. Time for some sport. We know coronavirus is impacting sport in all kinds of ways, we will come on that later on. We will indeed, especially with the premier league and handshakes. Before the shebelieves cap yesterday, they rubbed shoulders instead of handshaking. After a sixth defeat in nine matches, the pressures growing on england womens head coach phil neville. They were beaten 2 0 by world champions usa who led through Christen Press just after half time. Carli lloyd made it 2 0 two minutes later as englands defence of their shebelieves cup got off to a disappointing start in orlando. What we were saying at half time was, there is nothing to be scared of, nothing to be fearful of, ultimately two bits of. The first goal was magic, the first goal was a brilliant strike. The second goal i thought was poor defensively, which we needed to be better on. Butjust two little bits of quality, its why theyre the best team in the world. It was a disappointing night for wayne rooney and derby county as they were knocked out of the fa cup by his old side, Manchester United. Luke shaw put them ahead, before 0dion ighalo scored twice to complete a 3 0 victory. United will play norwich city in the quarterfinals. British number onejo konta takes on the 18 year old russian, anastasia potapova, later today, for a place in the semifinals of tenniss monterrey 0pen. Playing in white here, she beat Tatjana Maria of germany in straight sets to reach the last eight. Its the first time shes won back to back matches this year. England rugby head coach eddiejones says hygiene has always been paramount to the squad, even before the coronaVirus Outbreak. England play wales at twickenham tomorrow afternoon. It could be their last game of the tournament for quite a while, after it was decided to postpone their final match against italy in rome. Because weve got quite a big squad, you know, we carry up to 30 players and 25 staff, personal hygiene, particularly around the food, is important so thats something weve done pretty consistently. So its not a big movement away for us. And the premier league have decided to ditch the pre match fair play handshakes. It comes after the government asked the league to step up its contingency planning. Players will still line up as usual, but the home team will walk past the away side without shaking hands. Maybe they will nod their head, maybe they will do what they do at west ham in training after david moyes banned handshakes, they do a fist bump instead. 0r moyes banned handshakes, they do a fist bump instead. Or maybe as the women did last night, a rub of the shoulders. It certainly has been coming this way since newcastle, they were the first team ban the handshake at training ground. Southampton have banned players from having selfies or signing autographs with fans, all to reduce contact. Some fans arent too happy with this, saying it is an overreaction. This one on social media says, no handshakes, should the players kisses at each other instead of hugging when they celebrate goal . The point they are making, think of the contact in the game especially when they score. All that sweat mixing up. Lets have a look at the weather now. We saw some sunshine yesterday, clinging onto that. Plenty today as well, good morning. This is a weather watcher shot from leeds. About to a bright start and a sunny start for many. Temperatures below freezing in some parts this morning, 7 in scotland. It is top to tail quite chilly across the country. Not completely dry, this cloud brought relentless rain over southern areas, it has cleared away. It will bring more wind and rain this weekend, in between, there is some fine weather, but a little strip in the wet bringing sleet and snow, in parts of South West England and wales. There will be some sunshine in between the showers, so not a wash out. Elsewhere the vast majority dry from dawn to dusk, these guys for much of the time, patchy cloud and temperatures back up to where they should be. There will be blue skies for much of the time. This evening and overnight, a few showers around in Western Areas, they will fade around, temperature taking a tumble first thing during the night but then they will come up as cloud spills in from the west. Saturday it has frost in the northern and eastern parts of the country but the weekend forecast contains yet more wind and rain, surprise surprise. Unlike recent weekends, most of it will happen by night. Lets show you the bigger picture. Low pressure pushing in from the west, bringing plenty of cloud on saturday. A cold front to the west will bring the lions share of the rain but there will be a few splashes of light rain pushing eastwards during the morning. 0verall cloudy, drizzle in the west which will become persistent during the day. The far west of england and western scotland especially and Northern Ireland. Temperatures well into double figures for all because we have a south south westerly breeze which will strengthen late in the day. As we go into saturday night, gales across we go into saturday night, gales a cross m ost we go into saturday night, gales across most parts of the country. The windiest spell on saturday night, and wettest as the weather front comes across the country. Mostly night time, not lingering too long in any one area, getting out of the way on sunday and then back to sunshine for many on sunday but also a scattering of showers, quite a few on sunday afternoon, a mixture of rain, hail, sleetand on sunday afternoon, a mixture of rain, hail, sleet and snow, a rumble of thunder. Snow primarily over the hills. Eight to 10 degrees although the wind will make it feel a bit more chilly. The wind next week will become more of a feature, quite a changeable week next week, plenty of showers, rain at times and Gale Force Wind especially during the first half of the week. You have be looking at temperatures in europe as well . I have done and it looks like we had a record breaking winter right across europe. According to the Climate Change and monitoring service, temperatures well above where they should be, 3. 4 Degrees Higher than they should have been. I will have on thatjust before 8 45. Business leaders have warned that flybes collapse will have a hugely negative impact on the uks regional economies. Ben is at george best Belfast City Airport for us this morning to find out what the consequences are there. I guess people are absorbing some of the consequences of the impact, both on airlines and passengers and staff . Yes, counting the cost of those routes that are cancelled. Normally flybe operating 14 fights out of belfast airport, just two of them have been taken over by loganair. We can speak to the boss but we were speaking to the boss and he was saying the priority is to have meetings with other airlines to see if they will take on some of those routes but clearly business here are worried about access to the uk and beyond because it is an island and they have few other options, you cant just island and they have few other options, you cantjust get on a train and get to heathrow or birmingham or manchester to fly on elsewhere. You run a travel company for business was mac give me a sense of how important flybe was for you and for this airport. We are a travel management company, will look after corporate travellers, we do that on a 24 7 basis of the impact for us on the ground, first in the short term, when the news started coming through on wednesday night, thursday morning, all the team came together, we had 500 live bookings so together, we had 500 live bookings so it was contacting the clients, businesses needed to get to certain places, rebooking the flights so there was a Short Term Impact. Also an impact on cost, short term, for those clients. Were flights that we re £150 those clients. Were flights that were £150 to £7,600, what is the impact on local business . They are trying to compete in global marketplace, will the costs affect m. Marketplace, will the costs affect margins . There are very few options, you cant tell these businesses just to get a train. Without that flight they are essentially stranded. Absolutely, capacity is so important and that connectivity from belfast, as you said, we are an island destination, unfortunately we are having to get people to fly from dublin, thats affecting the Northern Ireland economy. But we really are hoping that the guys here can negotiate and get those routes are filled. But we need government help here. We need our local government to step up and we need the uk government to help out as well because they are talking about the importance of connectivity, they have got the papers out, the need to put action in place because it is really important for local businesses. Thank you. So, a sense of what it is meaning for business is here right now. We touched on the fa ct is here right now. We touched on the fact that two of those routes have been taken over by loganair, but 12 are still outstanding. For this airport, really crucial. 80 of its business was operated by flybe so those negotiations continue. The bossis those negotiations continue. The boss is optimistic but they need to get that signed on the dotted line to make sure the routes have been taken over to make sure the routes have been ta ken over by to make sure the routes have been taken over by loganair, but 12 are still outstanding. For this airport, really crucial. 80 of its business was operated by flybe so those negotiations continue. The boss is optimistic but they need to get that signed on the dotted line to make sure the roots are re established. One of the passengers who relied on flybes domestic routes is marina mauger. Who relied on flybes domestic she used the airline to travel from jersey to southampton when she was receiving cancer treatment. We can speak to her now. How much did you rely on the service . The flybe flight to southampton on monday morning at seven oclock is sadly more than half full of people having treatment, radiotherapy, which we dont offer injersey, so there was no alternative, you had to fly with flybe. And the staff knew you were there for this kind of treatment and looked after you very well . They we re looked after you very well . They were amazing. People who have never been through it dont understand what radiotherapy is, you have ten minutes of treatment a day, then you sit round for the rest of the time, basically, with nothing to do. So when i used to return to the airport ona when i used to return to the airport on a friday, i used to go early and the staff invariably would just switch me to the earlier flight so i didnt have to sit round until seven oclock at night, which meant i could get home earlier, which was wonderful. The key thing is with treatment like this it is important to stick rigidly to the timetable given to you so disruption with travel plans could cause real problems, cant it . If i were in southampton this week having radiotherapy, and i was to be told, youve got no flight home tomorrow night, i would youve got no flight home tomorrow night, iwould have youve got no flight home tomorrow night, i would have been distraught. Distraught because it is soul destroying being in southampton. Its very lonely, youre on your own going through treatment, you live for the weekends when you can get home. The other thing is, really concerned for the people who are undergoing treatment at the moment because its a very rigid timetable. 0nce because its a very rigid timetable. Once you start radiotherapy, you cant stop it. It has to continue for the prescribed time. Thats the nature of the treatment. You cant have a day off. The last thing you need is extra stress, which obviously this could cause. And it is not just obviously this could cause. And it is notjust cancer patients, no special baby care, often only available in southampton if you need it in the channel islands. So what are the alternatives, what can people do in the future . There is no alternative. Flybe has been our lifeline. Somebody, i hope, will step in and take over the route. We have, i had to say it, but very unreliable Ferry Services that are very weather dependent because we are an island. Without that route to southampton, i dont know, its not justjersey, its southampton, i dont know, its not just jersey, its guernsey southampton, i dont know, its not justjersey, its guernsey as well, i dont know what people will do, because we are incredibly dependent on flybe to Access Medical treatment. I know you have finished your radiotherapy for the moment, your radiotherapy for the moment, you do have some ongoing treatment, we wish you all the best. Just illustrating one of the challenges facing people in different parts of the uk who really do rely on flybe for theirflights. After a turbulent time for the duke and duchess of sussex, the couple have returned to the uk for whats been described as a farewell tour. Harry and meghan attended the Endeavour Fund awards in london last night, which honours the achievements of wounded, sick and injured service personnel. Lets hear some of what the couple had to say. Its very nice to be back, its the third year that i have the incredible fortune ofjoining my husband here and as you all know, and can feel, it isjust the most inspiring space. So i will say, when youre watching the videos, all the way in canada, we have the same moment that you do. How are you going to choose . For some, the military represents a brotherhood or sisterhood that no other organisation can provide. And for others, its a way of life which you never want to leave. For a lot of us, its both. Being able to serve queen and country is something that were all rightly proud of and it never leaves us. Was there some hidden meaning in what prince harry said about queen and country . We can speak now to royal historian, sarah gristwood. Good morning. What did you make of those comments last night . Yes, i think there is definitely a message behind his words. They made no secret of the fact that they had hoped to have a roll half in, half outside the family. No secret of their disappointment when that couldnt happen. So when harry says that once having served, always serving, i think that is, if you like, a way of taking that and moving forward with it. We are where we are, i suppose, is one of those phrases, things have changed. So how do you see those next few days . Well, yes and no. Ithink. Im sure, i hope it will continue to pan out in the same successful way as we saw last night. The couple were clearly looking good, looking happy, very much in love. But we are all speaking of it as a farewell tour, but lets not forget, there is that slight get out clause. When this arrangement was set up, it was declared it would be looked at again ina year, declared it would be looked at again in a year, and who knows quite we where we will be then . Looking ahead to their they will head back to canada shortly and they will try and find a life out there, which will be very different to whats happened in the past. Yes, it will. And perhaps harry will feel the difference more than megan. After all, she in a senseis than megan. After all, she in a sense is going home after a fairly brief and offer her was clearly a very stressful spell as a senior royal. He is stepping into a new way of life and he really does have the challenge of trying to forge that. He will continue, obviously, as we saw last night, with the very important charities he has helped to set up, with the causes are so close to him. But all the same, he will have grown up with things very much mapped out for him, in a sense. And now, thats all up for grabs. Sarah, thank you very much. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning from bbc london, im tolu adeoye. There will be no handshakes before this weekends premier League Matches as football battles the outbreak. Like rain on your wedding day 25 years afterjagged little pill, Alanis Morisette tells breakfast how one of its most iconic tracks nearly didnt make the final cut. I didnt even want the song on the record but people were saying, we love this song. So i said, all right, put it on there. I dont care. Certain degree of irony in the weather this weekend, more wind, more rain, i will have the full forecast coming up shortly. Good morning. Its friday the 6th march. Our top story. A woman in her 70s has become the first person in the uk to die as a result of coronavirus. 116 people have tested positive for the illness here. The chief scientific officer told breakfast people who have coronavirus, but with mild symptoms, should self isoalte at home rather than be treated in hospital. Jon donnison reports. Royal berkshire nhs trust say the woman who died was in her 70s. She had been in and out of hospital in reading for other Health Problems when she tested positive for coronavirus on wednesday. 0bviously, our sympathies are very much with the victim and their family. But the situation is pretty much as it has been, in the sense that were still, sam, in the contain phase. Now, our scientists and medical advisers are making preparations for the delay phase. More details of the cases in the uk have now emerged. There are 45 people being treated in isolation at home. So far, 18 out of the overall total have fully recovered, but the source of infection in ten cases remain unexplained. Self isolation is the right course of action for the vast majority of people. Some people will require more specialist care, they will require oxygen and other things, that may either need again, more things at home, or in some cases, hospital care. And we shouldnt think that everybody goes to hospital, that would be the wrong decision. Back home, speaking on question time last night, the Health Secretary, matt hancock, addressed concerns of panic buying causing shortages because of growing fears over the outbreak. The government has supplies of the key things that are needed, and within the food supply, we are absolutely confident that people will, that there wont be a problem there. And crucially, we are working with the supermarkets to make sure that if people are self isolating, then well be able to get the food and supplies that they need. And as hospitals come under increasing pressure as the number of cases continues to rise, Officials Say people with less severe symptoms will be asked to take care of themselves at home. Jon donnison, bbc news. More than 140 british people are among more than 3,000 passengers and crew stuck on a cruise ship off the coast of san francisco. There are concerns there is an outbreak of coronavirus onboard. Earlier we spoke to zoe thomas sent this report. Well, we know the boat isjust offshore outside of san francisco. 121 british passengers on board, another 21 british crewmembers there. Weve heard from some of the folks on board that people are in pretty good spirits. Weve been told theyre not allowed to go to the restaurants on board but they are being given room service to get food. One thing we dont know, when they will be getting off the ship. Now, california authorities did airlift tests to them to check about 100 people who they think might possibly have contracted the coronavirus. Some of the passengers from the earlier voyage, two passengers, did get the coronavirus, were on board the ship, so they want to test to make sure anybody who was on the earlier voyage is checked and anybody who has flulike symptoms is checked to see if they have corona. For the passengers who arent showing any symptoms, well, theyjust have to sit tight and wait to see what happens next. Now, the governor of california, hes been pretty adamant he doesnt want the ship to dock here. But what happens to it is pretty unknown. Health authorities are saying theyre working on a plan to get those passengers off the boat but they havent said what that is just yet. So, everybody is kind of waiting to see what happens. Fears are starting to grow will this become like the ship that was offjapan for a while . Right now, were just going to have to wait and see. That was a silly thomas reporting. Zoe thomas reporting. Scotlands loganair has said it will take on 16 of flybes domestic routes following the collapse of the airline. Flybe went into administration on thursday after a bid for fresh Financial Support failed. The government says its working to save more routes. And ben is at Belfast City Airport for us this morning to look at the impact on Northern Ireland thats coming up after 8. 30am. Police are investigating the death of a newborn baby boy, who was found in an area of woodland in hampshire. Officers are now trying to trace the mother of the child, who was discovered in hythe near southampton, yesterday afternoon. The death is being treated as unexplained. The duke and duchess of sussex have made their First Official appearance together since their announcement they were stepping back from royal duties. Harry and meghan attended the Endeavour Fund awards in london last night which honours the achievements of wounded, sick and injured service personnel. One or two spots just about but even here it is quite chilly, most dry and sunny, fewer showers in the isle of bute at the moment, hebrides, parts of south over the hills its wintry, these sorts of areas will continue to see one or two showers through the day, bit of sunshine in between. Away from that, vast majority starting the day dry and finishing the day dry. The sun starting to gain a little bit more strength each day, after a chilly start damage around levels they should be, 7 10d. Light winds as well. Through the evening rush hour still some showers to contend with through the south west, wales, one or two isolated showers for the ease but most staying dry. We will take those glimpses of sunshine where we can. Absolutely. Its 11 minutes past eight. The nhs is braced to tackle a widespread coronaVirus Outbreak. It has already declared its highest level of emergency planning. But with staff already under pressure because of busy a e deprtments, what impact could the illness have on our Health Service workers . We can speak now to chris hopson, the chief executive of nhs providers. Good morning. Good morning. Things feel like they are ramping up, we here we are in the containment going into the delay phase but how is the nhs bearing up under all this pressure . The Hospital Community that we represent are in the process of preparing for an increase in cases, let me give you two are three examples of things we are doing. Increasing our ability to process tests so for example, the hospital i was in last week was having to carry all its tests to a Regional Centre down the road. This week its own Pathology Laboratory will be able to process tests. We are asking people to either go online with 111 or ring 111 online first place and then ring 111 online first place and then ring 111 but we know we need to increase the coal capacity so thats what we are doing and another good example would be up to now, if there have been cases of coronavirus, effectively we have taken them to regional specialist centres are so for example in london, thats been guys and st thomas as the royal free. But we are now talking to hospitals about how every acute hospitals about how every acute hospital in the country can treat coronavirus patients if needed and that interestingly, is an important task but it means weve obviously got to separate out or cohort is the phrase, patients who got coronavirus to keep them separate from those who havent. For example, creating an isolated ward is hopefully relatively easy but if youve got patients who are really ill and need access to intensive treatment or high dependency treatment, hospitals tend to only have a single hd you or i see you unit so hospitals need to work out how they will divide that unit to treat on one hand coronavirus patients and keep them separate from non coronavirus patients. The other thing we are doing is we are very keen to ensure that our staff have the appropriate equipment to treat coronavirus cases and given the way this virus is transmitted, that requires, for example, Hazardous Material suits, so we are ensuring the equipment is available. The nhs as it always does on these occasions is preparing well. But just to on these occasions is preparing well. Butjust to make the observation, inevitably, as the numberof observation, inevitably, as the number of cases rises, of course, you know, the service will come under more pressure so it is taking a bit longer to process the tests, its taken a bit longer to answer 111 calls and i came across a very good example talking to an ambulance chief executive a couple of days ago. If ambulances take a patient to hospital it clearly takes time for the test to be processed. So you dont know whether you have or have not conveyed a coronavirus patient so you need to deep clean the ambulance and if you do that, that takes it off the road for a period. Again, we are finding in certain parts of the country that ambulance response times are coming under pressure. I had contact with someone who works in an Emergency Department in in hospital saying they are full in the Emergency Departments, no beds so staff are under pressure and you talk about making sure staff have appropriate equipment but are you confident the staff are being adequately protected if they are having to deal with this virus from . What we are very good at the nhs is dealing with emergencies of this type. We have very clearly laid out procedures in place. And we will do everything as you would expect us to, to protect our staff. I think the most Important Message i could probably give you and its not just me, its really interesting when you talk to the World Health Organisation expert and you say, the places where this has broken out in terms of larger than other places have been in italy, iran, south korea, china. If it were to go more widespread in places like us and uk where would you rather be . Its very clear that the uk is one of, if not the best place to be because unlike those other places we have a national Health Service thats got incredibly well trained staff, thats got very well worked up emergency procedures, thats got hospitals that are used to working with each other and providing what we call mutual aid, so if a hospital becomes very, very busy then the hospital down the road can help out. We got very well thought through and developed regional and National Coordination processes and they are able to support hospitals in terms of what they need to do. And then we have a political command and control structure based on the cobra Cabinet Office Briefing Room procedure for our politicians are being advised by our politicians are being advised by our medical experts. So all im saying is in a sense, if you wanted to be in any place in the world that is best prepared and best capable of dealing with this, weve got to be near if not at the top of the list. Absolutely and im sure all those things are true yet we also know hospitals are under acute pressure in the intensive care units as youve already alluded to and today we have the chief scientific adviser in the uk saying we want more people if they contract as far as to stay at home and not come into hospital for treatment. This is an acknowledgement that actually, you dont have all the bets, do you, to treat everyone who contracts coronavirus . The thing that we dont know in the chief medical officer was giving evidence to parliament yesterday, as we clearly dont know what the prevalence rate is. So clearly if you have a prevalence rate that towards the very top end of expectations like 80 , of the population having the virus, thats very different to 20 but for the nhs is really, really good at doing is for example, it rehearses very frequently, what would happen if for example, a plane went down, if for example, a plane went down, if for example there was a terrorist bomb. Its very good at flexing capacity to meet particular kind of problems and again, let me give you a really good illustration, you talk before you came to me about the move from contain delay. A really good example of this is a key phenomenon in the contain phase, you need to Contact Trace those who got the virus. And it is widely acknowledged that Public Health england has got, because weve invested in it and built it up, one of the best Contact Tracing services, and when we look back at this, in a number of months time, we will have found that we delayed the spread for a period by having a fantastic Contact Tracing. Thats really important because if we can get to warmer and drier weather, we are actually going to have less spread and its going to be less severe. Well, we think although there seems to be some variation on how much the warmer weather will actually kill off this virus. But you alluded to the fact that you are trying to ensure that you have all the equipment that you need for your medical staff. Are there any problems at all with supply in that regard . Certainly what we are receiving are some reports, again as you would expect and these have been fairly widely cove red and these have been fairly widely covered in the media, there is pressure on hand gel and mask supplies. And thats obviously something we are looking at but again, what you would expect us to do, which is we have a very well worked through supply chain procedure where we are talking to the manufacturers of all of the required equipment to make sure we get the supplies that are needed. But again, most hospitals, all hospitals will have appropriate stocks of this and again, this might seem a bit odd, but actually, weve built up quite a lot of stock as pa rt of built up quite a lot of stock as part of brexit preparation so that, again, should help. But thats obviously one of the things that hospitals are all looking at very carefully. Understood and youre keen to reassure everyone, thank you much indeed. Withjustification, reassure with justification not just reassurance for its own sake, there are reasons for people to be reassured keep very much. Nhs providers covering england. Lots of discussion about self isolation and quarantine. We can speak now to vincent wang. He went to visit his dad in china injanuary and was placed on lockdown there. Hes since returned to the uk and is currently in self quarantine at home in kingston upon thames. Vincent, lovely to talk to you this morning. Take us back a little while in this journey. You went to visit yourfamily in china. And then you we re yourfamily in china. And then you were put into forced quarantine . Good morning, charlie. Iarrived on the 22nd of january, just before Chinese New Year. We got the information overnight that we had to stay home and self isolate at home. Obviously, this is quite surprising. I went back for Chinese New Year and have been doing so for 29 years. This was my first time back home, spending time with my 90 year old dad and my sister and my nephew but u nfortu nately dad and my sister and my nephew but unfortunately this crisis happens. It is good, i am spending 24 hours a day with my dad, my sister, my nephew, the family, in that case it was quite nice. It is worth pointing out as you are talking we are showing pictures of your entire family doing tai chi. It is worth explaining to people you are a stunt man, that is yourjob, you are stuck at home with your 90 year old dad, im sorry, i dont know his name. But you think we got to spend time doing something positive so you say dad, lets start doing some tai chi . Yes imagine, most people are staying at home, especially elderly people, they dont have relatives with them so its quite hard for them. In terms of their home, most people are doing nothing, they are eating, sleeping, watching tv and i said my lets do something, you know, to keep going and stay strong and healthy. And at the same time, i cant share my knowledge. Rather than sitting at home and do nothing. Hopefully we can get some kind of benefit. I have to say, your dad, he is not in the shot we can see now but he looks to be in remarkably Good Condition but you must have been worried and clearly, at his age, he would have been one of those people who would be most worried about coronavirus. Is he ok and are you ok . Yes, i am fine and my dad is great, keeping very well and also, even though i had been back now, i have been speaking to him on facetime every day and talking to him about his training once i came back from china to england i was checked and i am well, we have two small kids, they are at school, i am putting myself into south myself isolation at home and i have a week left and i am looking forward. Vincent, so good to talk to you and its nice to see you, positive story from what is clearly a difficult situation but you made the most of it. Thank you very much. Thank you. Can potentially be a real test of familial relationships but he mentioned children. So, as the illness continues to dominate headlines, parents may find themselves being asked difficult questions by their children. Whats the best way to answer them without scaring them . Louisa reeves from the childrens communication charity i can is here to help. Maybe you can give us some advice . Children on the whole often ask direct questions and can be challenging, how much do you say . Thats a really tricky one, isnt andl thats a really tricky one, isnt and i think its all difficult for a range of situations. I think whats really important with children is not to dismiss their anxiety and their fears. Sometimes i think we feel if we dont mention something then children wont worry about it but obviously, its everywhere in the news. Lots of people are talking about it. And so children are naturally asking questions. I think its important to recognise their concern and to answer at the appropriate level for their age. You wa nt appropriate level for their age. You want obviously to give them good advice, its all about hand washing in our house at the moment but you dont want to overload them with anxiety, do you . No, thats absolutely right and i think a often children ask a question and if you just answer that question then they are happy with that, you dont need to go into great in depth extra nations especially with Young Children. Its all about answering the question theyve asked. And if they ask another question answer that one. But actually, sometimes, just the answer you gave so a simple one like what should we do . Well, wash hands, used tissues, put them in the bin, thats enough. wash hands, used tissues, put them in the bin, thats enough. I suppose some things are out of your control asa some things are out of your control as a parent, for example, the discussion about should schools close . Discussion about should schools close . And of course some have, if you like, temporarily for deep cleaning and that kind of thing. But thatis cleaning and that kind of thing. But that is outside of your control, isnt it . What do you say about things like that when they see a report saying a school is closed, what do you do about that kind of thing . I think again its being proportional in your response, isnt it, everyone is worried and anxious at the moment, its about trying not to convey the anxiety too much to children. Sticking to the facts, some schools have closed because a child has been found to be ill or the family of a child has been found to be ill, you know, that happened in our school, your school is still open, you are going to school. That would be sufficient answer. In some ways, also, its about wanting them to be concerned and have a sense of social responsibility as well, isnt it . Its not just social responsibility as well, isnt it . Its notjust about them, its about their friends at school but potentially their grandparents. Yes, absolutely and i think thats where there is very simple messages and it simple behaviours that we are being asked to do, wash hands, used tissues, is something that is quite easy to explain to children. There are lots of songs we can sing while we are washing our hands. One last thought. Conversations with them directly is one thing, sometimes you can forget they can hear, they can pick up on things, the nuances and may be a conversation youre having with someone else, you might be having that they hear. Youve gotta be careful. You have got to be careful and i think particularly with very Young Children, they will pick up on your anxiety but they wont necessarily understand what you are and concerned. Good advice, thank you so much. I do need to talk to my 12 year old, i saw him what his hands under the water in the sink yesterday and i thought he hasnt really got the message home, he really doesnt dont forget, you can keep up to date with all the developments around the coronaVirus Outbreak online. You can find out about the symptoms to watch out for and what it means for you on the bbc news app and on our website. Thats bbc. Co. Uk news. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning. It might be cold and frosty but for many of us, it is a fine start today, with lots of sunshine. A little bit more cloud towards western scotland, wales, the south west of england. Those showers will tend to break up and they will drift further eastwards. The best of the sunshine will be in central and eastern parts of england and in eastern parts of england and in eastern scotland and later on in Northern Ireland. Even wales and the south west will get some sunny spells later on. Tonight, there will be some clear skies towards Eastern England and eastern scotland. One or two showers drifting eastward but largely dry. It will turn quite cold and frosty across eastern areas but further west, with more cloud moving on, temperatures will stay up at 35. The on, temperatures will stay up at 3 5. The cloud is linked into this area of low pressure and these weather systems moving eastwards as weather systems moving eastwards as we go through the weekend. Most of the rain will push through saturday night and sunday morning. There will be some rain into Northern Ireland and the west of scotland and north west england. Staying dry elsewhere. A milder day. Quite breezy conditions on saturday. And we will keep that wind as we go through the night. The bulk of the rain will clear through overnight into sunday. It might be a bit of a wet start across the far south east but the rain clears quickly and we are left with a mixture of sunny spells and blustery showers. Those showers drifting from west to east, sunny spells in between. Some of the showers could be heavy, even wintry over the higher ground. It will feel a bit chillier than those of temperatures suggest. This is worklife from bbc news. Trouble in the pipeline, oil prices slumped further as coronavirus fears grow.
