Thats a decrease on the few days before, although delays in reporting over the weekend may be understating the true number. Spain, which has had one of the strictest lockdowns in europe, is now allowing children to leave their homes for the first time in six weeks. And the government is hoping to extend the relaxation further, so that everyone can exercise outside. Italys Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, has announced an easing of his countrys coronavirus lockdown measures from next month. He says takeaway food outlets can reopen, and visits to relatives in small numbers can resume. But schools will remain shut, and social distancing will be in force for months. Italy has been under strict lockdown, for seven weeks. Heres our correspondent in rome, mark lowen it is almost seven weeks to the day since italy became the first country to impose a lockdown since the coronavirus pandemic began and now Giuseppe Conte has laid out a roadmap for unlocking italy. On may four there will be various things allowed to reopen parks, funerals will be allowed to resume with a maximum of 15 people. Bars and restaurants can offer takeaway again. Manufacturing, construction and wholesale business will restart. People will be able to move around again within their own region, but not beyond, and they will be allowed to visit family members but will have wear face masks and no large social gatherings will be allowed. And individual sport will be allowed people will be able to go out running and athletes will be able to train behind closed doors. Two weeks after that there will be a further relaxing in which smaller Construction Companies will be allowed to restart, libraries and museums will reopen and sports teams can practice then behind closed doors. Then onjune i, that is the date currently planned for bars, cafes, restaurants and hairdressers and beauty salons to reopen, schools will remain closed until september. A senior doctor on the white house covid i9 Task Force Says she believes social distancing will be needed throughout the summer. Vice president , mike pence, said on thursday that the epidemic would be mostly over by the end of may. In an interview on nbcs meet the press, Dr Deborah Birx said the fact that coronavirus cases in some cities appear to have peaked gave her hope. He was looking at his experts when he posed that question, that this might be an answer for the future but it has caused a lot of confusion and led to a lot of disinfect Companies Issuing warnings that people under no circumstances should even consider consuming these products. The app was launched on sunday to help monitor and identify infection rates, as parts of the country start to ease lockdown rules. Other countries, including the uk, are working on similar apps but the technology isnt without controversy, as reged ahmad reports. In australia, some states are to relax their strict guidelines, as covid i9 case numbers remain low, and the government hopes to keep it that way by launching a new Contact Tracing app called covidsafe. It uses bluetooth to log when someones been close to an infected person. Authorities want a 40 take up to make it effective. Covidsafe is based on an app singapore is already using, and governments around the world are working on developing their own. Here in the uk, those behind a soon to be released National Health service app say it will be key to getting out of lockdown, but will rely on a high take up. The app is going to be one of the Building Blocks of how to get out of the epidemic. And we have sort of two estimates. We found that when we projected over the next three months, for every 1 2 users who download the app and who adhere to the instructions, it will prevent one infection. And we found that, for this intervention alone to stop resurgence of the epidemic, about 60 of the population would have to use the app. And, for many, privacy remains a major concern. Australias app is voluntary, and the government says it has put multiple safeguards in place. But Civil Liberties groups there and around the world say there are still real questions to be answered about the potential for government surveillance, and whether personal data can be kept safe. An app may also not be enough on its own. In germany, the government says it is still hiring a large Contact Tracing team, along with developing its own technology. We think a ratio of roughly a team of five for 20,000 people is roughly what we have to come up with. Thats a huge number. Proponents of Contact Tracing apps say it is the best way out of lockdown. By identifying and isolating new cases, a second wave of infections could be avoided. But the challenge may well be winning over a public used to privacy. Well, from australia to new zealand. After implementing some of the worlds strictest covid i9 restrictions, new zealand is preparing to ease its five week lockdown. Schools will be able to open with limited ca pacity, businesses will be able to open, though not physically interact with customers, and gatherings of up to ten people will be allowed, but only for weddings, funerals and maori funeral rites. New zealand has seen fewer than 2,000 confirmed cases, and fewer than 20 deaths, so the lockdown and other measures seem to have worked. But as people start to return to normal, what will the psychological effects be . Dr Dougal Sutherland is from the school of psychology at the Victoria University of wellington. What i think initially there was a high level of a nxiety initially there was a high level of anxiety about health and ami level of anxiety about health and am i going to get sick or are people i know going to get sick . And while those levels of Health Anxiety has still continued, i think were going to see a change in that as we move out of this level for lockdown we are in and moving into level three. And once that happens, as presumably those restrictions is even more over time, how is is it going to be for people to just go back to normal and pick up where they left off . Yeah, look, i think thats a really interesting question and im not sure anybody has got the final a nswe rs anybody has got the final answers on that here. There are some predictions of course that there will be a whole new normal situation that will be a brave, new world afterwards. We know old habits die hard as well and there is such a yearning for people to go back to having a social connection and meeting with each other that it and meeting with each other thatitis and meeting with each other that it is possible we will go back to how things were before this lockdown just because that was the thing we have always done and possibly the thing we will back to. There is going to bea will back to. There is going to be a difference in terms of how easy that is for some people versus easy that is for some people versus others. What other factors that determine how some people emerge from an unprecedented situation like this . There, look, ithink certainly we know older people are going to have similar restrictions on them compared to other people and they are have that risk of loneliness and isolation. Ithink have that risk of loneliness and isolation. I think a have that risk of loneliness and isolation. Ithink a major factor that will come through as we move out of the lockdown will be the economic consequences of this whole covid i9 situation. Poverty is a major predictor of Many Mental Health problems and i think the figures that are to believe, we have high rates of unemployment and high rates of poverty and we could expect those groups of people, and those groups of people, and those are probably marginalised groups of society, to suffer from depression and anxiety. And that can last months or even and that can last months or eve n yea rs and that can last months or even years into the future.
