russell brand's channel, what's happening there? well, in recent years russell brand has perhaps dropped out of the mainstream media a little bit, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have a huge following on social media, in particular onjujube. he has 6.6 million followers for his channel where he posts videos almost every day, giving his opinion on all sorts of things. he is able to make quite a lot of money out of that because there are adverts at the beginning of those videos and at the end and he is also able to promote things as part of those videos and provide links in the comments and description section of the youtube page to various products. however, he is no longer going to be able to make money from that because google has come out with a statement this morning saying we have suspended monetisation of russell brand's channel for violating our greater responsibility policy. no response to this movie yet from russell brand, although i was looking at his site this morning and he has made quite a lot of his videos onto a rival but much less well—known platform called rambo. rival but much less well- known platform called rambo.- rival but much less well- damning report on the mistreatment of detainees at an immigration removal centre has recommended a time limit on the length of their stay. the public inquiry found a toxic culture among staff at brook as a result it had taken a vast amount of evidence and concluded that brook house was a place of stress and distress, overcrowded, dirty, noisy from aircraft taking off and landing at nearby gatwick airport, riddled with drugs, the drug spice use prolifically. the chair concluded that this was a place entirely unsuitable for detaining people for anything other than a short period of time. that is an important intervention in the debates about detention centres because currently immigration detention is unlimited and the government is now facing a call from a public inquiry to introduce a limit, something the government voted against and 2020. has there been any reaction from the government? i know this reporter just recently been published. watch at the practicalities of putting a the government says that if you come across in a small boat or if you pass up the offer of life in a safe country before britain, then you could be immediately detained and removed from the uk. the effect of that is detention centres are expected to get fuller, not less full, as the years go on in future. but here an inquiry is saying that people have to be housed in detention centres for less in response to allegations that indian agents might have been involved in the murder of a canadian sikh activist. hardeep singh nijjar was shot dead outside a temple in british columbia less than three years after india designated him a terrorist. the indian foreign ministry described the allegations they were behind his death as absurd and motivated. earlier, the canadian prime minister, justin trudeau, told parliament he had raised the issue with his indian counterpart, narendra modi, at the g20 summit. over the past number of weeks, canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the government of india and the killing of a canadian citizen, hardeep singh nijjar. canada is a rule—of—law country. the protection of our citizens and defence of our sovereignty are fundamental. our top priorities have therefore been, one, that our law enforcement and security agencies ensure the continued safety of all canadians, and, two, that all steps be taken to hold perpetrators of this murder to account. canada has declared its deep concerns to the top intelligence and security officials of the indian government. last week, at the g20, i brought them personally and directly to prime minister modi in no uncertain terms. live to delhi now with our correspondent zubair ahmed. give us the background to this, tell us a bit about the lead up to this, a real de—escalation of the relationship between canada and india. for relationship between canada and india. ., . , relationship between canada and perpetuating terror in india, also they are foreigners and the main people behind the secessionists seek movement in india and it has always urged canada to root out such people from the canadian soil which india says they have been using for quite a number of years. justin trudeau came to india in 2018. india had protested against such elements and urge candidate to take action against such people. even last week when mr trudeau was at the g20 summit, there was a brief meeting with mahendra modi. it was no doubt very brief, it lasted five minutes but it was extremely tense. they did not hug each other theyjust shook hands and very briefly, so it was clear that things were not right between the two countries and after justin trudeau made that statement in the canadian parliament on monday, there was shock and even anger in india. india is feeling offended that a friendly country like canada has gone public with allegations which india has now said our unsubstantiated. there is a in mexico. doctors in mexico have carried out a series of tests on the remains of what is alleged to be a small alien body. two of the "non—human bodies" were presented to mexican congress last week by journalist and ufo enthusiast jaime maussan. he says the bodies were found in peru in 2017 and claims they are not related to life on earth. they have three fingers on each hand and elongated heads. there is no definitive answer yet on what they are, but doctors say today's tests show no sign of assembly or manipulation in the skeleton. stay with us here on bbc news, hello. it's already been a wet day so far for quite a few of you and more rain to come through the rest of today. it's all linked in to an area of low pressure, which is to the north of the country. 0n the southern edge of it strong winds and these weather fronts, which are just marching mainly across the central strip of the uk. the rain will ease off a little bit at times, although i suspect around the hills of northern england, south—west scotland, northern ireland, north—west wales it will remain pretty damp throughout. a few passing showers towards the south coast. a few glimpses of brightness here, but here, and across much of england and wales, where we see the strongest of the winds today, gusting 40, 50, maybe 60mph. winds a little bit lighter further north. the rain gets heavier again this afternoon in northern ireland and south—west scotland. some of the brightest weather to be found today will be in northern scotland, but, even here, a few passing heavy, thundery showers and fresher feel — 13 to 15 degrees, compared to 19 or 20 celsius further south and east. it will feel reasonably humid here, but that will, of course, be tempered by the strength of the wind. it will remain windy through tonight. the rain will become more extensive across scotland, northern ireland for a time and then heavier bursts of rain march back into the north of england and across parts of wales for tomorrow morning. with those winds still coming in from a south—westerly direction, it's not going to be cold night at all — 15 or 16 degrees for many. into wednesday, this weather front will bring something fresher gradually through the day, but it's going to be quite a potent feature. starting in the north of england, wales and the south—west there could be some rumbles of thunder. some pretty nasty downpours with that could cause some minorflooding. that will work its way eastwards, never quite reaching in the far south—east until late in the day. brighter skies in its wake. fresh feeling, the breeze, but frequent showers across western scotland, northern ireland and the wind strengthening across in the western isles, where, as we go into thursday, we could see winds gusting 50, 60mph again here, but elsewhere the winds will be lighter compared with the next couple of days. a sunny start, fresh start, but plenty of showers developing through the day. some of those could be heavy and thundery. for all, temperatures in the teens. in the breeze and the showers it will feel cooler. the change to the unsettled conditions is because we've got the jet stream really piling across the atlantic and in these dips we see areas of low pressure, one after another, but there will be a little bit of a gap between them, i suspect, through friday into saturday. so late on friday and early saturday there will be some drier and brighter moments with some sunshine, but there's more wet and windy weather to come later in the weekend. bye for now. this is bbc news. the headlines: russell brand's channel, what's happening there? well, in recent years russell brand has perhaps dropped out of the mainstream media a little bit, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have a huge following on social media, in particular onjujube. he has 6.6 million followers for his channel where he posts videos almost every day, giving his opinion on all sorts of things. he is able to make quite a lot of money out of that because there are adverts at the beginning of those videos and at the end and he is also able to promote things as part of those videos and provide links in the comments and description section of the youtube page to various products. however, he is no longer going to be able to make money from that because google has come out with a statement this morning saying we have suspended monetisation of russell brand's channel for violating our greater responsibility policy. no response to this movie yet from russell brand, although i was looking at his site not thought that it is one of the woman included in that investigation by the channel 4 and the two newspapers, those allocations are between 2006 and 2013, this was allegedly in 2003. what the police damning report on the mistreatment of detainees at an immigration removal centre has recommended a time limit on the length of their stay. the public inquiry found a toxic culture among staff at brook house near gatwick airport. it follows the bbc panorama investigation into thousand 17. the inquiry chair recommended that the government changed the law to limit detention at immigration removal centres to 28 days. live now to your home affairs correspondent, tom symons. just take us through the conclusions from this inquiry, please. it conclusions from this inquiry, lease. , ., conclusions bbc*s panorama programme which employed callum tully, an 18—year—old custom officer, to go undercover with hidden cameras at brook house and what font is extremely distressing. this inquiry said that as a result it had taken a vast amount of evidence and concluded that brook house was a place of stress and distress, overcrowded, dirty, noisy from aircraft taking off and landing at nearby gatwick airport, riddled with drugs, the drug spice use prolifically. the chair concluded that this was a place entirely unsuitable for detaining people for anything other than a short period of time. that is an important intervention in the debates about detention centres because currently immigration detention is unlimited and the government is now facing a call from a public inquiry to introduce a limit, something the government voted against and 2020. has there been any reaction from the government? i know this reporter just recently been published. watch at the practicalities of putting a the government says that if you come across in a small boat or if you pass up the offer of life in a safe country before britain, then you could be immediately detained and removed from the uk. the effect of that is detention centres are expected to get fuller, not less full, as the years go on in future. but here an inquiry is saying that people have to be housed in detention centres for less in response to allegations that indian agents might have been involved in the murder of a canadian sikh activist. hardeep singh nijjar was shot dead outside a temple in british columbia less than three years after india designated him a terrorist. the indian foreign ministry described the allegations they were behind his death as absurd and motivated. earlier, the canadian prime minister, justin trudeau, told parliament he had raised the issue with his indian counterpart, narendra modi, at the g20 summit. over the past number of weeks, canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the government of india and the killing of a canadian citizen, hardeep singh nijjar. canada is a rule—of—law country. the protection of our citizens and defence of our sovereignty are fundamental. our top priorities have therefore been, one, that our law enforcement and security agencies ensure the continued safety of all canadians, and, two, that all steps be taken to hold perpetrators of this murder to account. canada has declared its deep concerns to the top intelligence and security officials of the indian government. last week, at the g20, i brought them personally and directly to prime minister modi in no uncertain terms. live to delhi now with our correspondent zubair ahmed. give us the background to this, tell us a bit about the lead up to this, a real de—escalation of the relationship between canada and india. for relationship between canada and india. ., . , relationship between canada and perpetuating terror in india, also they are foreigners and the main people behind the secessionists seek movement in india and it has always urged canada to root out such people from the canadian soil which india says they have been using for quite a number of years. justin trudeau came to india in 2018. india had protested against such elements and urge candidate to take action against such people. even last week when mr trudeau was at the g20 summit, there was a brief meeting with mahendra modi. it was no doubt very brief, it lasted five minutes but it was extremely tense. they did not hug each other theyjust shook hands and very briefly, so it was clear that things were not right between the two countries and after justin trudeau made that statement in the canadian parliament on monday, there was shock and even anger in india. india is feeling offended that a friendly country like canada has gone public with allegations which india has now said our unsubstantiated. there is a in mexico. doctors in mexico have carried out a series of tests on the remains of what is alleged to be a small alien body. two of the "non—human bodies" were presented to mexican congress last week by journalist and ufo enthusiast jaime maussan. he says the bodies were found in peru in 2017 and claims they are not related to life on earth. they have three fingers on each hand and elongated heads. there is no definitive answer yet on what they are, but doctors say today's tests show no sign of assembly or manipulation in the skeleton. stay with us here on bbc news, hello. it's already been a wet day so far for quite a few of you and more rain to come through the rest of today. it's all linked in to an area of low pressure, which is to the north of the country. 0n the southern edge of it strong winds and these weather fronts, which are just marching mainly across the central strip of the uk. the rain will ease off a little bit at times, although i suspect around the hills of northern england, south—west scotland, northern ireland, north—west wales it will remain pretty damp throughout. a few passing showers towards the south coast. a few glimpses of brightness here, but here, and across much of england and wales, where we see the strongest of the winds today, gusting 40, 50, maybe 60mph. winds a little bit lighter further north. the rain gets heavier again this afternoon in northern ireland and south—west scotland. some of the brightest weather to be found today will be in northern scotland, but, even here, a few passing heavy, thundery showers and fresher feel — 13 to 15 degrees, compared to 19 or 20 celsius further south and east. it will feel reasonably humid here, but that will, of course, be tempered by the strength of the wind. it will remain windy through tonight. the rain will become more extensive across scotland, northern ireland for a time and then heavier bursts of rain march back into the north of england and across parts of wales for tomorrow morning. with those winds still coming in from a south—westerly direction, it's not going to be cold night at all — 15 or 16 degrees for many. into wednesday, this weather front will bring something fresher gradually through the day, but it's going to be quite a potent feature. starting in the north of england, wales and the south—west there could be some rumbles of thunder. some pretty nasty downpours with that could cause some minorflooding. that will work its way eastwards, never quite reaching in the far south—east until late in the day. brighter skies in its wake. fresh feeling, the breeze, but frequent showers across western scotland, northern ireland and the wind strengthening across in the western isles, where, as we go into thursday, we could see winds gusting 50, 60mph again here, but elsewhere the winds will be lighter compared with the next couple of days. a sunny start, fresh start, but plenty of showers developing through the day. some of those could be heavy and thundery. for all, temperatures in the teens. in the breeze and the showers it will feel cooler. the change to the unsettled conditions is because we've got the jet stream really piling across the atlantic and in these dips we see areas of low pressure, one after another, but there will be a little bit of a gap between them, i suspect, through friday into saturday. so late on friday and early saturday there will be some drier and brighter moments with some sunshine, but there's more wet and windy weather to come later in the weekend. bye for now. this is bbc news. the headlines:
