But what links all of these images is their tragic timelessness, a continual thread of war and personification of conflict that has gone on for centuries. If you just look at the face, that could be gettysburg. It could be yorktown. It could be at agincourt. Theres an element of commonality, even a common mythic reality of war. War is, of course, the most celebrated subject in Human History and what we are doing is linking through portrait photography, we are linking these men and women back to a tradition of the warrior.
