The rain will clear journey early hours leaving a mixture of clear spells and scattered showers However it's still a mild night with blues around $10.00 to $13.00 Celsius still windy for Wednesday with a mix of bright spells and blustery showers these are meant to be concentrated in the West in the northwest of the country temperatures around 14 to 16 Celsius for most of the country that's B.B.C. Radio call in years. My name is Jamie. Secret. A. Secret. My. Brother from 967. Of the controversy or some B.B.C. Radio if you've just joined us you've missed an hour and you can find all that on the signs up B.B.C. Sounds up as well and catch up any time you want of the next 30 days but if you've been listening well you'll know that we've been in conversation tonight with Jamie Wyatt and she's been sharing stories behind felony Blues which. Is inspired by a hard time and here's one of the songs about that experience. Nobody could tell me who to love. To see a little kind of threw a line there which probably reveals a lot but the song Jimmy wired and why school from Philly blues and Jamie told me more about vats song was cool and where it came from my roommate at the time but by proximity we'd call them cellmate. Made in Los Angeles she went to court one day and she saw a guy across the court room and we believe this was what they call love at 1st sight and they exchanged booking numbers by way of what we call quite right it's a little note that is very small and passed by the convicts to each other and then they started writing letters back and forth now he was in Wasco he was in Wasco and she was in L.A. County and they were writing letters back and forth and their love affair grew and I get to hear all the love letters because I don't have anything else to do and they started planning their wedding and I don't know if they got married in real life it's doesn't matter does my story they do my story I love when a great story I mean I mean obviously musically it was abusing I suppose springboard for what happened next but on a human level some of the people that you encountered as well but you you must've come across people you thought well I'm going to go here and probably try to move on but there must be people you thought it's going to be tough for them as well. Well yeah that's the thing about it I have a lot of compassion for all walks of life and even people that seem like you shouldn't have compassion for them or that seem hard because I do mention it you know and maybe it's everywhere but in America if you come from the wrong neighborhood you don't get a lot of opportunity so once you're in the system you're in the system Yeah and you can return to this and you will return to this area so there's a lot of really beautiful loving kind people that are trapped in that and and it's unfortunate but I just love people now like even more than I ever did if I had not experienced that and it gives me a lot of gratitude it changed my life you know it got me into recovery it really did save my life it was amazing who would be a touchstone artists for writing for you that we were the who the artists that you listen to and. I would love to write about. Oh goodness I mean in this mood might take all day OK to write all the but you know I songs I wish I had written like you know a lot of Bob Dylan. But also. Thinking on the guy that wrote that huge alignment Jimmy Webb Jimmy Webb Yeah you know you're very young I mean you you dig mostly young but by the people that you grew up you know when you were going to school when I was going to yeah welcome music we listening to then and yeah you know I mean I was still into lots of older artists that of my generation people like Jeff Buckley I remember it was just knocked my socks off like that's yeah you know that's just almost biblical what he's singing and writing and yeah Jeff Buckley at that time. And of course being from from Washington State so Kurt Cobain Nirvana really moved me those lyrics that's poetry and written you know he was huge Beatles fan I mean huge fields and by the way. Beatles and Stones it's not one or the other. But also Yeah then I grew up on the ninety's country is action I and the Judds and guards Brooks but songwriting for me has always been like the old folk to it's like Woody and Bob Dylan and a Merle and. You know later I got into Leonard Cohen and stuff but I think the grown Jiro had a lot of great writers doing a lot of rock N roll writers country went through a dark period I'd say after the ninety's but now we're back in the game well that brings me to the 64000 dollar question which is what happens next I mean we've Yeah these are going to I'm going to hear something new from from you yes I'm working on a new album writing recording already. Ready recorded I'm very excited are you going to stay in L.A. Because so many people do drafts too even if you saw from California you do drift towards Nashville and I think if the national listen to in the backup in Texas I'm on a are you going to be a national person or are you happy to stay where you are at the moment I actually am in the process the relocating to Nashville but I'll never stop I'll probably be bi coastal forever I'll be in California and Nashville well life because my family's in L.A. Yes now I'm in the process staying in Nashville more and more often tell me more gorgeous song is given by the best of me and what does that one come from and what does that fit into yes just kind of about kind of growing as a person and as I cited in my recovery you know from drugs and alcohol and just trying to be a more gracious person without getting religious which I'm not but. There's a St Francis prayer and seek to comfort rather than to be comforted and just about you know kind of you know giving back the best of me is like giving rather than always want. So beautifully constructed so musically as well. a new album Gypsy this is cruel. Somewhere in the last quarter of a year or so someone ill in Jewel has consumed a lot of Creedence Clearwater Revival records God I could do that as well as she always said like that but this kind of death the guitar thing John Fogerty there since really nice kind of influence on Har new album which is Gypsy and that tracks called crawl. And including in that back out back catalog an album of Loretta Lynn covers we're going to be back with that much promised 2nd bluegrass track it's much more recent but you know it's something that you will love still just after this it's better to leave us so Fulton that it is to close just so hope really is for everyone they saw them on the B.B.C. Scotland channel as a sour felt like I was only black person in the world you know if you're my from they'd be like oh my dogs are from Scotland as if it's an impossibility I have to justify our school Kimberly's struggle for good luck I will you know somebody half if you would see to it how this money could say that tastes I wish I knew all along the Lebanese community understand violence as a fact of life here as there are a starship brilliantly unexpected ultimate hearing on the B.B.C. Scotland channel. just gorgeous allison trice new station and every time you see good by the title track from the album in 1992 which went on to win a grammy for best blue grass album allison carse is and it was no to diss fat before is the most awarded it's as sing out and most awarded female artist in grammy history i'm i was a sin the allison christ truck they i was thinkin about days when i used to hear at a kind of on they have the radio station but i was i was walking for summer i would nally and i was one rudy station night she undid to and they'd stop playing allison crisis stuff about for all you know it was getting to me there the you know is just this is like mid ninety's a summer really real awfully this in a little artists that we played for i don't i don't don't know how often we've played muse stuff and from vents got although i do think last couple up as we have one time old member a of reminding fright This last week that when I suggested that we were going to play for kill he looked to me like your friends kill the like you know these to be well you probably remember your seventy's used to be a kind of model that would put a single Vince Hill and. Friends you know Vince Hill I know he means and always been kind of a much middle of that old kind of soft country but he has made this new record which is really interesting when he's talking about things that are affecting people talking about abuse and. Big life I suppose under the under spotlight Lopez Well I'm bringing that to songs which I think is really courageous of him he's also a really interesting place and the fact that he's cheering with the Eagles and doing a lot of stuff so a very creative type Vince Gill has a new compilation album if you're interested in catching up with friends but his own actually creative juices have brought him to make the album which is Brian Hughes well and from it this is a price for great. the Lovely voice beautiful performance and a really interesting song from the album simply called Oakie and it's the price of regret and says We live in a time right now when finally people having the courage to speak out about being abused and I think that's beyond healthy and beyond beautiful to see people finally have a voice for being wronged do check out cold still lots to come including a brilliant brilliant cover version from the one on the Patty Griffin but we have reached out point in the evening when it comes to music and we've got. The other was it was all panic in another country world this afternoon we won finding peace we will find it hard to get together. But we have found an interesting thing for you this is a leader Van Dyke at the track which I thought just we've never I've never had this until today but we just thought well what's not to love about the auctioneer. What are you going to give. Him a good 323030. 545 and. Go to school. Did sneak away in the afternoon take a little ball then pretty soon you're done. Sand and listen carefully then pretty soon he began the auctioneer good talk so. Settle may it's do I have got. To back out of make my mark and be an auction in a man who played it came back all the old lives. And the people came from miles around just to make that really sound that filled hearts but such a. Family spread out some sort of showy and old to do. And to buy a plane to get around. Town he's a Thompson and all the land let's give em to he is the bad. I still believe. $45.00 out of it in our $50.50 William if it demanded of him to build a bomb of a dollar when we can if I'm a little bit of a. Gifted out of it enough and if I were limited to fathom even if I had a bit of a hole that whole part of the. Rights are over they get in a little knot and all the laws here become a lot of number 29 and want to go on a good farm family trying to fight to get voted out of there to make a 3rd of it a 3rd and I'll have another voted on a 4045 another fitted all of it. The auctioneer Levi Van Dyke and written by little I'm buddy black that's a kid someone to be on the lot before the T. Bridge was as I will die before the T. Bridge was built the same the Fife is going from Dundee to fight and a friend of my parents lost 5 percent and we went over went the Cooper sales in Fife this kind of farm I don't know where you know the auction cattle sheep option were and I was mesmerized by these guys who could you could speak at that speed I thought was interesting and then in recent years on notions I've been to these awful chatty nights where I think that you know it is basically a bunch of millionaires bidding against each other blokes as usual and nothing why they just sit at rest of us look pay some money shut them up and we will give somebody the charity stops them showing off and I was on that one let me know. Just said we want to save about 20 years. Little Vandyke is the auctioneer and here to 50 still alive by the way just celebrated its $100.00 birthday celebration they did with the next month his song Walk on by was named by Billboard magazine as the biggest country music record in history airplay record sales with Weeks spent on the chart and amount of cover versions which is something I didn't know either legal Vandyke is R V and oh we. We've still got to get X. Rayed but we're working on it we've got ideas someone we've got ideas here's something lovely the I want to play a which is from Strictly our group are coming over to Glasgow next choose D. And I think it's well worth checking out they're called the maze they're from Melbourne Australia the album simply called the me and us is head over heels. There. Are. Beautiful the maze head over heels and the title of the album is just simply called the maze they're from Melbourne Australia the original them a trio hey you know I think Greg are my friends told by the matriarchy summit Celtic next he has told me about this group before and I've just picked up on it because the album came in a couple of weeks ago this album was made by other on the road last year with songs recorded in Nova Scotia Canada 2 songs from the Isle of Moll and Scotland 2 songs from different cities around and 4 songs recorded in their hometown in Melbourne interesting and they play in the blue R.-O. On so he whole street in Glasgow next Tuesday Hey folks could you avoid Tuesday nights we can't get there any way we give excuses to leave it on our country for that night you can check us out later if you want to go and see the maze the blue hour which I think is a dedicated kind of jazz venue jazz venue in time which I've never been to but everyone says it's very good indeed I think I've been clear this is me clean the decks it's. Hardly a moment coming up for a song I can love very much and when people do songs that I love very much I always kind of a heart kind of sinks you think all this are they going to be faithful to this are the going to do it wrong with the right you know paragraph and can really do things wrong and my my opinion. She's on an album called come up the house women sing weights and again I've. Previous times told me that sometimes Tom Waits hard to cover I've never really forgiven thoughts to be honest with you. But this is something lovely from Patti just from Harvard of Ruby's arms. He. Watched. Me She. Won. The. Same. Leave us. Alone. Breaking. The. Soon you. Meet. His Ron. Days. Beat. All my phone for. Half. A. See him back. To me. Patty roughly was written by Rudy Hardy came in and started bludgeoning as we're pulling the microphones are doing all sorts of things and I was having a moment you know it was just beautiful and he came in he dropped his car keys and all sorts. Party Griffen is on an album called Come on up the house women sing wait and Toll Waits is 70 in December next week we on another country and I'm saying this in front of the hearts and if he gets any funny ideas about something similar we are celebrating Bruce Springsteen 70th birthday here and we're on 1st Tom Waits and Springsteen you know just in the same year 70 the same year but it's going to cause you know that's kind of cause your dilemma they should pull out of Jesus on Mount Rushmore but there are no recent to us. But a lovely introduction that was Ricky Hey listen. I'm here to disrupt you're sure you are nothing more I don't come and listen that's going to cause your dilemma because I mean you come a genuine going to do might My lips are sealed but you know it's going to become a show you tell me one no not behind the scenes and then you can steal it for another show listen you are on in about 10 minutes Yes we're excited we want to know what's happening well loads of great things from Tony very been enjoying his you know I think it's not really a return to form as such but just a bit more accessible from the last record and we had featured over the last few weeks will hopefully get a track from out we've got Bill and Sebastian the rails their new albums cracking up and comers like Molly Lennon but by the way the rails is a Thompson connection and yeah Cammy Thompson who is to the system yet Eddie Sr the daughter of Linda and Richard and her husband. And James was born who plays with The Pretenders and the just have a great thing going they were the darlings of Radio 2 Focus wards for a good couple years with this new album from them I think it's really kind of stepping things forward and into that kind of alternative Lee eighty's early ninety's rock but also I have to say we've got Astrid a double bill from our stood in the sense that we have a mean 3 from them every chord at Belladrum festival so the 3 songs that the feel most influenced by that mean the world to them but also 3 tracks from their new album which is our record of no fall stand dance their 1st album in 15 years 15 yes so it's lovely to have them back together they did a key sessions for years for series 4 and finally we've had to wait a while for the actual official release but we have it with us and it's just lovely to see Charlie Clark who's been living in Ellie and Willie Campbell who's back home a nail of Louis back together they're a band of brothers and they've made a great record together so that's a record of not is hand holding his microphone today he's in Fool I never know what to do and I know you're before I think we need to do this every week is like to be here I mean I'm sure you are he's work in the room he's got on the tables he's taken a quite ready heart will be on at 5 past 11 we're going to finish tonight we'll be thinking about the old jail when obviously with Jimmy White in session and I mean we thinking about these stories from jail and we thought well we need to play a classic country record that would officially Johnny Cash and from life at San Quentin this is start Phil city Good night well I left my motel room it was dark. the all you.
