Wow Our next guest is Domini Perec and you're a blogger from Western fave all now you have a website the confessions of the happiest free Yeah so tell me Well firstly for those that don't know what blogging is what is a blog or what do you do well for me personally my website and my blog page is literally just come fashions about my life so it's just a lifestyle blog I write about what goes on in my life things I've done just to try and give people advice and help them get through anything that I've done my advice can help them then happy to do say so why did you start the blog. I'm a need to start the blog because a lot of students start to start asking me how universe is going to be how they're going to make friends how is it going to be living away from home and things they need to learn and I was giving them all this advice and I just thought if they're asking me for advice on like I'm sure a lot more people would like like I want to hear what I have to say about it as well so to be honest that's where I initially started from and what was your experience how did you following him street life university like. My university life kind of changed throughout the years so when I 1st moved to university I wasn't expecting to go to the university I went to because it was like a choice I went through Clarence and when I got there late Cher member the fastener I woke up and I was like How have I ended up here like how did I get. And it was a very hard thing for me I'm very close to my family so moving away was very very difficult I've never lived away from my whole life so it was very hard and I found it very difficult to make friends in my 1st semester so I kind of kept myself to myself I'd ring my family over the top I you know like Tommy need to go out and make friends and you need to like get yourself out there put yourself out there a bit more and then as I started doing that more and more my 2nd semester awesome. To enjoy a university a lot more and stop coming home as much I didn't really like you after I think that's really the issue that I mean not everybody is group carious makes friends straight away and it's really important that you know you have to respect that some people want time on their own A new from a family where you know you get together a lot and social occasions certainly was the photo LOL yeah I don't really think great being alone I've missed them a lot of my cousins for example like my best friend so yeah making all new friends again was really don't want him was like you don't from scratch and I mean is there anything that you would think or advice to do differently if somebody was you know potentially going to miss home a lot is there anything that would make it better do you think. My advice on that would be to try make your university very bit more homey things like It sounds really simple with things like F. Rashness or using the same washing up side for your clothes start because things start to smell like home and when things start to smile like when you start to feel a bit more like you are at home so I do that or spoke to my parents but just before I had dinner for example so I felt like I was still having that low conversation with them before I had my dinner. And. Try not to go home as often maybe leave it 3 weeks before you go home instead of every week because if you go home every single week you're not going to get like the flu vaccine variant Yeah that is true I was actually told that somebody said Good advice she said I don't want you to see your son until Christmas of that's quite a long time yeah December and he did actually just pop in but very briefly didn't stay for very long but yeah I don't see much of nothing that's a good good advice he looked sounds quite harsh but what about social media and things like how mobile phones now because when I went to university we didn't have things like Skype or what probably did but I didn't use it and face time and things like that so actually you could face time with family and have dinner essentially with them at the same time but just being to different places actually that's quite helpful in this situation yeah it definitely is help for my only advice on face time in your family every time you have dinner is you have new flatmates and making friends is obviously difficult and that dinner time is the best time you guys want to talk because you have to be at some boy so you can sit down and talk to each other so I would try to put my phone away at dinner time like guys are going to have dinners are when you after I've had dinner and then that's the time when I spoke to my flat mates made conversation try to create more of a bond and I guess it worked because they are still friends with me now. Don't think I did and. That's lovely I mean that is the time I know my son There's a kitchen of course and he said that's the best time it's time we all sort of get together you know and also variety of things let me tell you but nevertheless he said that's the best time and Face Time me today and one of them a going away for the weekend 1st time in the put a big welcome back if you talk to just think it's really nice because it's the place the central point where everybody met up. Great like a little uni family and it's like when someone goes you miss the mark you like all that person gone it feels lonely without so is like a very nice university even you that. So with your blog tell us about the things that you've written about most recently OK so. I recently wrote about Precious because I was a university just recently started so I wrote about freshness and just ways to make friends and to mingle and things that I wish I would have done when I 1st saw at university so things like making going to start to social events so this fresh. If you sign up to as many societies as possible like that would be one of my my main things because at least you're going to go to some of them even if you don't study to like even if you don't say in a society throughout your entire university experience you meet people there and you can create friends from going to these like society meetings and I wish I ended up going to some of them because I would have made loads of different friends who did different things to me so that's one thing I would like highly recommend. And another thing for when you go to new vastly Just don't be scared to talk to people a lot of people off here in the same boat so my advice would probably be just grab a few drinks go and knock on some people's doors and block Hi guys like you want to have a drink and just say like all. Do you guys do and just start talking to them from there because everybody's in the same boat as you and everyone's got to knock on someone's door good advice and then you want to contact a G 3 or blog to say that actually it's helped them get through their university so one girl I spoke to her name is Rosie I won't give her surname. But I spoke to her about university and she did say that that did help with me in new friends she didn't really get along with her flatmates she's like I don't know what I'm going to do I don't know how to make friends I don't know where to go so I said this thing to us like take a couple drinks go knock on some people's doors and I'm sure you make some friends I mean she looks like the 7 time of our life now. Vice How did. So if people do want to find out more information about you. Find more information so my website is my blog. And I have Instagram pages confessions of the happiest freak. Is 22 Tam I hope you're enjoying your bonfire night this evening I say tonight is going to be a busy night all I've Northamptonshire wrapped up warm stained stay and listening to me while so is beautiful fireworks are going off think you know what not I did notify what display actually. Over the weekend with my boys my 2 boys and like I said they are too I will be for sale and they hated it every firework that went off they literally shouted No. So I managed to get my husband to take one of them out but he had his hands I resist so he stayed out of the car but I had to stay in the car with the other one which was great because it's warmer in there to be there but he could not stand the fireworks I'm hoping you're having more of a get better time the my kids and we did over the weekend because it was slightly traumatic. But to end what has been a beautiful 1st evening program with the lovely jewels. Thank you so much for just sitting in with us throughout the whole 3 hours not talking about such an emotive topic which if the US has affected you and your family and your daughter's well how she's coping not your son is now I think you know she's OK but she was soon in the bedroom to claim her. I mean it was our spirits bad really bad that's is my RIGHT NOW. But of course it changes the dynamics and I think that's what that's the most shocking thing out of everything everything's different even you know he's had a place where he sat his entire life around the kitchen table no longer. It's the strangest thing ever I have to say it's something that as we've said from the top of the show something I never anticipated and as you on this stage of your show I can't even think that for now I want to log out of going to schools and do school visits at the minute even that's quite dramatic much of is it weird the way nature just sort of prepares us for the start with a. Primary school and secondary then you know school then of course leaving home you know whatever that wherever they go to actually prepares but that did come as a shock I think when I went to university I genuinely was looking so forward to it because again the build up of you get school D G C C's and they get university was kind of seen in our family that's what we do you know that's that's kind of what you do but it wasn't until because I said I never wanted to go to university in the same town those born in I was born in Northampton and arcs that I went to university in Nottingham they've always known I didn't want to stay in the same town not because there's anything wrong with my family but just because I wanted to try something different and see if I could cope on my own and that truly when I did sign to go to Nottingham and I said I'll do it and I got in and I got to my house and looked around I still wasn't quite aware of the effect it would have on me and to my family help me like move in on my 1st day left and drove off and. In this house I did actually feel quite like it was a huge shock so honestly my mom and my dad cried all the way down like oh you know Northampton I was 15 minutes away I mean come on I could come back and forth it was near she genuinely being when you write. She struck me my experience was very different because I was the same age as my I was 18 and I left the northeast to go to London I mean that big old city all on my own and never ever been before and I remember getting to the station which is Donington station and as I can see that into city one to 5 coming in and I go on a moment the time she was all upset and she didn't know how this feels or you were above or subtle to stop crying and I got on the train because I talk so much I got chatting to someone by which time the train had pulled up the station I hadn't I didn't say. Oh well I've got a full and then when I got today I was so excited to be that told you forgot to phone because in those as a question to be 10 what was even 10 pounds it was to do do do do do do do and then I went out that night I met a few people so I went into London it was so exciting it was 2 days later before I want to die yeah that's what was like it was like in the eighty's we did that to you yeah. Yeah I had that you know I go nuts I mean I think that's a problem with mobile phones because you know the kids have them but suddenly if they're not answering. The phone off the parent born with something's wrong I just panic so I'm not sure the greatest thing in the world but definitely yeah pull moma Well after talking to the bloggers the students themselves and having their experiences I think all around each person involved in this situation actually has quite a lot of emotions. It's a good thinks every supporter out there university has lost a hell but there are several other for parents groups and obviously the blogger as well that came on Fascinating topic this is great and with Jules will be doing things like this yes every Monday exciting lifestyle and different stories for the 3 hours of the program. Keeping us busy thank you so much for bringing this story to us today. To the skills. Because. Some. Of. This. Is a. Thanks and. Thanks to a. Cold. And. This.
