Today’s obituaries: Abraham W. Gabriel was a Syracuse teacher, gymnastics coach Updated Feb 14, 2021; Abraham William “Gabe” Gabriel, died Friday, February 5, 2021 from complications of Covid-19. He was a graduate of Central High School, received a bachelor of arts degree from Le Moyne College, and a master’s degree from Syracuse University. He earned the rank of Lance Corporal in the US Marine Corps and was a devoted Christian. He was a teacher in the Syracuse City School District for more than 30 years and was recognized in Who’s Who of American Teachers. He also was an accomplished US Gymnastic Federation judge and a phenomenal gymnastic coach at Grant Junior High School and for 43 years at the West Side Gymnastics School, according to his obituary.
