With the city of Winter Garden's municipal election coming up March 9, three new candidates thus far have entered the race. Current District 2 Commissioner Bob Buchanan will be retiring from his seat, and Iliana Ramos Jones and Ron Mueller are competing for it. Ramos Jones is a business owner who has lived in Winter Garden for more than 20 years. According to her campaign website, she is running for City Commission "to keep the special community feel that makes Winter Garden one of the best places to live, work and raise a family." Mueller is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and also served as the homeowners' association director for Lake Cove Pointe, a community in Winter Garden. According to his website, some of his priorities for the city include balanced growth, expanding community services and events, and keeping taxes low.
