SOUTH BENDÂ â Downtown might have lost a bit of its vibrancy during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, but officials believe itâs poised to take another leap forward thanks to three large construction projects that were mostly completed over the past year.
One of those projects â the five-story Barnes & Thornburg Building at 201 S. Main St. â already is completed. The law firm and some other tenants are already in the building and more are coming, including an upscale coffee shop with a breakfast and lunch menu.
The $20 million investment is the first new construction in the business core of the city in more than 20 years, according to the developers.
