The next time a cyclist zips by so fast they clip the hairs on your forearm, fast enough for your heart to skip a beat and your mind to picture an alternative scenario – hospital corridors, LED strip lights, clothes being cut from your body and medics murmuring something about “multiple head traumas” – remember this: speed limits do not apply to cyclists. So be afraid, be very afraid, because in this respect at least, they are allowed to behave with impunity.
