The Kinks' Dave Davies Talks About 'The Journey' | 96.3XKE Fort Wayne's Classic Rock

Out recently is the Kinks' The Journey -- Part 2. It's the next installment of a new retrospective series personally curated by the band's Ray and Dave Davies and Mick Avory; its 34 songs, several a remixed by Ray Davies, are organized in thematic groupings. "The Journey -- Part 2" also includes hits, B-sides, deep album tracks and three previously unreleased live performances from 1975. Dave Davies tells us "The Journey" series came out of a desire to do something than the traditional best-of retrospective: "I think the record company wanted to schedule some re-releases and Ray played with the idea and we mulled it over to try and do something a little bit different and a little bit more personalized and a couple of new mixes or remixes. It came out of a joint mutual desire to get something a bit different but in the same time plum the old stuff." Some of the biggest Kinks hits on "The Journey -- Part 2" include "'Till the End of the Day," "A Well Respected Man," "Lola," "Sunny Afternoon" and "Everybody's a Star (Starmaker)." Davies and Avery also penned liner notes for the album with their personal memories of the songs. The album is accompanied by a new line of Kinks merchandise available via thekinks-backstreetmerch.com
