The downtown landmarks

When the opulent State Bank Building was constructed in 1909 in downtown Little Rock, it was Arkansas' tallest structure at 11 stories. It passed the Southern Trust Building, which had been considered the state's first skyscraper, by one story. The Southern Trust Building, designed by architect George Mann, was built in 1906-07. It still stands at 221 W. Second St. and is now known as Pyramid Place.
