Hertfordshire’s Liberal Democrat leader has welcomed Transport for London’s (TfL) U-turn on plans to make its stations cashless. Proposals to ban cash from all TfL stations – as a way of limiting the spread of Covid-19 – has been scrapped after concerns were raised from transport watchdog London Travel Watch and Watford’s Mayor. Mayor Peter Taylor previously said banning cash from ticket machines would cause “a lot of inconvenience” to passengers at some stations who are more than 400 metres way from a ‘ticket stop’ - a newsagents where passengers can buy a tube ticket or top up their Oyster.
