Telangana: Land grab in Telangana forests shrinks space for big cats | India News

India News: A recent census showed no tiger presence in Kawal Tiger Reserve (KTR) in Telangana’s Adilabad, thanks to the shrinking Kagaznagar-Chennur corridor that was once a route for tigers to get into Telangana from Tadoba in nearby Maharashtra. Experts say encroachments by tribals for podu cultivation have made forest corridors highly fragmented, and the construction of national highways and other roads through forests has further contributed to tiger habitat deterioration.
