Teen shot on South Side of Syracuse, expected to survive, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. -- A 17-year-old boy was shot Tuesday afternoon on the South Side of Syracuse, according to Syracuse police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski.
Officers responded to the 4300 block of South Salina Street for a reported shooting at about 2:07 p.m., Malinowski said. They found the teen with a gunshot wound to the midsection and he was taken to Upstate University Hospital, according to Malinowski.
The boy is expected to survive, Malinowski said. Bullet casings were found at the intersection of South Salina Street and West Glen Avenue, according to Malinowski.
