TAIPEI, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan had its first snowfall of the year 2021 Thursday as a strong cold front swept through the island.
Snow began falling at around 6:40 p.m. in a forest park on Taiping Mountain in northern Taiwan, which sits at an altitude of around 1,850 meters, the park management office said.
According to footage and photos taken by tourists in the area, the trees and floor surface were all white.
From Thursday evening to Friday, the cold front will continue to enhance across the island and the northern region will see the daytime mercury fall below 10 degrees Celsius Friday, the island's weather department said.
