The Bhutanese Society of Palmerston North performing at the World on Stage in 2014. The event was run by the Manawatū Multicultural Council, a charity group that provided a point of contact for new migrants, refugees and newcomers to Palmerston North. Kopytko said the show was a way to break down barriers, learn something new, and showcase the beauty of a range of cultures. “It’s about building community, and having a bit of fun. “It’s a way of acknowledging who we all are, and that we all have common humanity.” Kopytko said the event would start at 6.30pm with dancing on Broadway Ave, before patrons entered The Regent on Broadway for the show’s start at 7pm.
