One of the best track and field athletes to ever come out of St. Patrick is ready for the next level. This afternoon, Leila Ransonet signed a national letter of intent with Christian Brothers University out of Memphis, Tennessee. - Advertisement - Ransonet says the Buccaneers reached out to her around Christmas and she fell in love with the school when she went on an official visit back in February. The class of 2021 senior can do it all, specializing in the triple jump, as well as the 200-meter dash and all the relays. Ransonet says she’s been running since elementary school and after not getting the chance to defend their crown last year due to COVID-19, not only is she focused on her collegiate future, but also making sure it’s three 2A state titles for the Lady Irish in the last four years. “I feel good about it. I’m really excited to compete at a collegiate level and the coaches up there, they’re just – I know that they’ll push me to do the best that I can do, both for myself and for my team. We’re all excited and we all work hard for it, and especially since COVID last year, our season ended really short so we’ve been working hard and I think we’re going to get another state championship.”
