Two Middlesex County towns are teaming up for their first combined Independence Day celebration this year. Spotswood and Helmetta will host the Mayors' March and Spark in the Park on July 3. “The event will be among the first of many to bring our two great communities together to strengthen the bond we share and foster a more profound sense of pride for our hometowns,” Spotswood Mayor Jackie Palmer and Helmetta Mayor Christopher Slavicek said in a statement. The Mayors' March parade will begin at 2 p.m. starting at Immaculate Conception Church in Spotswood and ending at Helmetta Borough Hall. Staging for the parade will start at 1 p.m.
