New Zealand is one of 27 countries around the world getting the feature first. Paid subscribers will be able to play music without ads from the Facebook app, without having to open the Spotify app. The news comes days after Spotify rival Apple Music announced a new premium podcast subscription offering. Spotify says the Facebook miniplayer will be "driven by discovery" and "improve how users share and engage with songs and podcast episodes".
