Son of slain Alabama preacher arrested in Texas in death of father, wounding of mother

The son of a beloved Alabama preacher has been arrested in the fatal shooting of his father and the wounding of his mother earlier this year.
Shannon Xavier Pearson, 25, is charged with murder and conspiracy to murder, according to Choctaw County Sheriff Scott Lolley. Shannon Pearson was taken into custody Monday by U.S. Marshals in Plano, Texas.
Sheriff’s deputies received a call at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, of a shooting at the family’s home in Melvin, Alabama. When they arrived, they found the Rev. Tim Pearson, 57, dead, and his wife, 55-year-old Melony Pearson, in serious condition.
