Siskiyou County scores top spot for hiking outdoor recreatio

A California hiking website ranked Siskiyou County the number one place to hike in the state.
Criteria for ranking each county included the quality of its trails, scenic beauty and the variety and diversity of hikes available.
Siskiyou beat out California’s 57 other counties for the top spot because of its incredible variety of sites and destinations, said Jason Mandly, author of the California Hiking Map.
“Some people want big mountain scenery. Some want solitude. Some want easily accessible trails,” Mandly said. “Siskiyou County has something for everyone — it has it all.”
The Chico meteorologist and air quality expert is himself an avid hiker, he said.
