Western Michigan Universityâs Sindecuse Health Center distributed the Pfizer vaccine to the WMU community Wednesday, April 14 at the Student Recreation Center. Sindecuse nurses and volunteers jumped into action when they received the Pfizer vaccine, said Joe VanDerBos, patient experience manager. âThis is a big deal, after a long hard year to have a sense of some hope, and the light at the end of the tunnel,â VanDerBos said. âI know we all felt it when we got vaccinated as health workers, weâre all here to share that with other people.â He added the health center had to pivot their plans fast due to the vaccination site switching to the Pfizer vaccine on short notice. The health center originally received a supply of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, but the shipment was removed due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommending a pause on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.Â
