To that i can mem work and with the residential hoe toll rooms and the homeless and dormitories and that is how to care and i dont think you would know with the tenant protection in the city. Every piece of legislation happened in that committee and leadership and to come in from the constituents with the most brilliant thing because everybody who knew anything was able to put together that with the board and i remember everything that they experimented. The question was raised do you think we need to have eviction control . And somebody had to say, yes, i think you have to. And otherwise at that time and we had timeshares, and thank you for your comments. Thank you for your comments, caller. Next speaker please. Welcome, caller. Caller i have requested before i share about this to speak english and should have a Public Comment in the beginning. And it is hard to listen to this and the discussion from 2 00 and now its 5 50 and that is a long, different type of explanation about translation and to be fair, people speak russian in the city and county of San Francisco and speak other languages, too. So you have the translator, but as you can see for all the time that they have been standing by, they havent been used too much. Having said that, we are in a pandemic. And we listen and advocates listen to the board of supervisors to see what you are doing about the people who are suffering. What we are seeing and witnessing is the changes to the chapter. And changes made to reform in the wrong way. And for over 30 to 35 years who havent been consulted. And i think during the pandemic is major changes shouldnt be made. As said the corruption and have been founding the call for the last 20 years. And from the investigation with multiple calls and a lot of beans being spilled. And we will do this or do that about the corruption. To do nothing about the corruption. Thank you. This is the executive director to of Library Users association. Library users 2004 yahoo. Com is how we can be reached. Libraries deliver democracy has been a hoisted on banners outside Library Locations all over town. We are thinking that was a burden or exaggeration, but Public Libraries play a vital role and provide independently cur rated books and materials and newspaper, magazines and so on. And with presumably only the patrons with pleasure in mind. They are not intentionally spying on the public or selling stuff or attempting to increase eyeballs by stoking outrage. But what happened when coronavirus came . Our library cut and run is what they did. And slammed the door shut at all locations and almost completely ceased to exist as a real world location with one exception the greatly reduced reference half the type as previously and never on evenings or weekends as the public has repeatedly said they want. To have the materials and programs and beefing up of those facilities, but they havent provided anything additional for the public that wants and needs the real world. 100,000 plus san franciscans do not have access to the internet according to the city study. We ask you to insist that the library open as soon as possible and in the meantime provide service like curbside service, mail service, home Service Increases including phone story times and the like. Thank you very much. Thank you for your comment. Next speaker please. Welcome, caller. You will have up to two minutes. Calle caller hello. I am carla and thankful that the congressmens coming at this time and while i was listening to everyone and thankful for the comments at this time and i was inspired more to speak today. Your lovely tributes to harry britt remind me why i protest and why i raise my voice for the rights of all animals, both human and nonhuman. I believe that not so long from now we will be talking about this in the same way we speak about racism and sexism and the atrocity and injustices we have fought to get rid of and continue to fight against even today. As you spoke about the importance of how our actions now have a major impact on our future and how we can help fight against Climate Change, i felt a great heaviness in my heart that Animal Agriculture and the impact on the climate were not mentioned at all. If you are serious about making meaningful change, we must address the connection between the exploitation of animals and pandemics. The health of all people and the plan set intertwined with this relationship. So i ask that the board digress from spending city funds on animal product and support the good Food Purchasing program. Thank you. Thank you for your comments. Next speaker please. Please joins u. You will have up to two minutes. Caller hello and good afternoon, supervisors. I am a resident of San Francisco and to chaos plantbased goods for the benefit of the program. And the government needs to lead by example for a kinder, safer San Francisco. And if we dont lead the way in this situation, no one will transition to a better food system. It is clear in order to prevent future pandemics and to scale the perspective lives of others, we need to slow down animal consumption as much as possible. And one way to start doing the change today and you have the power to do that is by using the city funds to purchase plantbased protein instead of animal products for hospitals and jails. Thank you very much. Clerk thank you for your comments. Next speaker please. Please join us. Youll have up to 2 minutes. Caller hi. Can you hear me . Yes, we can. Welcome. Caller i am Allison Bernard and i am calling in regard to revising the bill Good Foods Purchasing Program to increase the commitment to a prant mrantbased food system. Scientists have determined that confining animals in small spaces as on factory farms is a primary cause of diseases such as covid19. If we dont act unt generally, this will not be the last pandemic disease. Only 20 of the antibiotics are prescribed by doctors. The f. D. A. Says the other 80 of the antibiotics are dished out to factory farm animals allegedly to prevent them from getting sick in the horrible conditions but the antibiotics are also used to accelerate growth and enters have warned that we are moving from a small cut of antibiotics that wont be able to treat the infection. One such superbug mrsa already plagues our nations hospital. Over 100,000 americans die each year from what are called hospitalacquired illnesses. The researcher says human disease and confinement of animals led o to the most pandemic conditions. Before 10,000 years ago no one can track because we hadnt domesticated cows. And pigs brought us whooping cough. Chickens brought typhoid. And ducks with influenza and the common cold from horses. In conclusion, the percentage reduction of animal products in the current bill falls short of acknowledging the urgency of the patients. And for the sake of the future, we need 100 reduction and start by replacing 60 with plantbased al teternatives, no near 15 as the bill suggests. Clerk thank you for your comments. Next speaker please. There are 17 listeners and 10 speakers in the queue. Caller hello. Clerk welcome. Caller hello . Hello, board of supervisors. I want to speak about transit and the lack thereof during this pandemic. I dont understand why the subway is not running. I dont understand why the ep line is not run. It is time to open the line and restore muni service to the full length of muni service instead of the mismanagement of muni during the pandemic. And were stuck in our homes and cant go anywhere. We are stuck going nowhere. You want us to go to restaurants and Retail Shopping where you do photo ops and get chauffeured around by s. U. V. S by the mayor and the supervisors have Police Escorts to take photo ops all over the city, but yet the Common People and the poor people that rely on muni dont have that because it is going nowhere. It is trying to open up muni and get things back. Way it is supposed to and stop the management of muni. Where the the uptake to the public . No updates whatsoever and none in the press. The public is and it is trying to can come forward and tell the people what you are going to do about muni. Time is up. Thank you. Clerk thank you for your comments. Next speaker please welcome, caller. You have up to two minutes. Caller hello. This is [inaudible] i live in San Francisco and about the gifts of purchased and grateful that things are incorporating action and they must do everything just as a Climate Emergency and Public Hospitals in particular. It would help them get there and each product each week and declare bankruptcy and Dairy Farmers of america. Which ranks in the top five largest meat and dairy corporations of the world. And these top five combined than shell or b. B. And talking about dairy and american and as kids dairy pushed on me so many times even though i knew it would make me sick. 2 3 of laguna hospitals longterm patients come from asian, hispanic or africanamerican comment communities which have high rate of lactose intolerance. The hospitals can use this opportunity to cut dairy and set stronger goals and to break climate and free policy. Clerk thank you for your comments. Next speaker please. You will have up to two minutes. Welcome, caller. Caller hello. My name is raifa and i am also an Animal Rights volunteer. And we are here because we want to help animals as much as we can and we realize that farm animals and agriculture facilities suffer tretly. I believe most of us want to help them and we here are n particular are to comment and do everything we can to help the animals and our vision is to eventually have humans only help animals all over the world and not harm animals. We are starting to work with the city of San Francisco to pass the Good Foods Purchasing Program that is now in the rules committee. So were requesting that you support helping animals in the current proposal as well and specifically also and to reduce the amount of animal products instead of the 15 that it appears tentatively committed to doing and completely stop purchasing products and match the target that the Sheriffs Department has agreed to which is to put animal products and the Sheriffs Department cut by 50 and eventually eliminate animal purchases all together. The current body of Scientific Research demonstrates that a balanced and properly supplemented bant based diet and look at information at nutrition facts. Org with dr. Michael gregor mentioned earlier today. The website is nutrition facts. Org. Thank you. Thank you for your comments. All right. Welcome, caller. You will have up to two minutes. Is this working . Yes, it is. Welcome. Caller hell lo . Thank you. So my name is raven dearbrook and i am a bay resident who investigates animal agricultural facilities. I am asked for your leadership on a rules agenda that is with a change known as the good Food Purchasing program and overwhelmingly opposes animal cruelty and strong leadership with Climate Change and now with covid19 everyone can see the immediate threat that diseases pose. By vesting San Francisco Public Institutions from Animal Agriculture is not only critical to shaping our future but is vital to insuring we have a future at all. Today june 30 reports have emerged on a mutation of the 2009 swine flu which researcher have named g4 h1n1 and like stars, cov2, and this virus emerged to grow and multilie in the cells that line Human Airways with the riskover becoming a pandemic. As we speak, it is incubating on factory farms while the world is focus and reacting to covid19. And more sustainable foodbased system and create a future guarded by science and a change of 15 is not enough. San francisco must create a proactive plan to divest from animalbased products in the Public Institutions entirely. Thank you. Clerk thank you for your comments. Next speaker. You will have up to two minutes. Thanks for joining us. Welcome. Caller can you hear me . Clerk yes, we can. Caller and i am also with direct action everywhere. I am also calling about Good Foods Purchasing Program and i think its well documented by various sources and the connection between Animal Agriculture and Climate Change and enormous amount of Greenhouse Gas emissions. Along with that, Current Situation with covid also and been reported from various agencies and the strong connection between animals and infectious diseases. So while i support the new proposition that is coming up on the vote on july 13, i think the 15 for hospitals is kind of ironic and a lot of people will be in there for c
