It was a painful, dark chapter of family history.  
But during a pilgrimage to the site in 2008 with other survivors and his own family, standing on the barrack foundation where his family once lived after relocation, the stories came flooding out.  
“When I was standing next to my father there at the Amache memorial during the ceremony, I could just see the look on his face and the emotions on his face and in his eyes,” Homma shared, holding back tears, during a community roundtable on April 23 discussing new legislation that would incorporate the former incarceration facility into the National Park system.
