Senior Japanese police officer arrested on suspicion of indecent assault

KOFU -- A senior police officer was arrested on Feb. 24 by the Yamanashi Prefectural Police on suspicion of indecently assaulting a woman in her teens he met in the course of a theft investigation.
Yuki Watanabe, a 27-year-old officer at the force's Uenohara Police Station's community policing affairs division who lives in Tokyo, is accused of touching the woman's body and other acts at her home in the city of Uenohara, Yamanashi Prefecture, around 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 17, 2020. He has reportedly admitted to the allegations.
